This was a charming story with a great message. I liked how simple, yet effective it was. Exploring the strange, underwater world and experiencing different kinds of beauty through many character's eyes was quite fun to read about. I do think that the characters themselves, though, were largely forgettable and fairly one-dimensional. Even in a MiddleGrade novel like this (which is what I would consider this), one-sided characters just don't do it for me. Also, although I found the actual imagery to be a bit lacking (beyond talk of some colors), I think the book portrayed the essence of the sunset/sunrise very well. i.e., The meanings that lie behind a sunset or sunrise. In the end, I liked this novel. While I don't think it'll have a lasting stay in my mind, I would nevertheless still recommend it to others.
