I always love when a favorite authors starts something new. I really enjoy books by Shannyn Schroeder and couldn't want for this one. It wasn't just the fact that she was going to have a new book out that excited me so much. No, it was what this whole publishing line is about.

Entangled Publishing's new August line is about more mature people, ones in the thick of their lives, not just starting out.

I was so happy to hear about this. Now don't get me wrong, I'll still be reading books about younger characters just it's nice for a change.

For me right away the story takes off. You get a feeling for Tess and the busy life she's leading. You get the pressure shes' under. I liked her right away. She was really and the type of person you could relate too.

Now Miles is a little different then Tess. He kinda leads a charmed life and doesn't have to the worries or cares that Tess does. In fact, until he met Tess he liked his single all for me life. Then something changed and he realizes he wants more.

Don't you love how that happens when they find "the one".

I totally enjoyed the ride with these two and didn't want the story to end. It was filled with all the things I love about Schroeder's books, laughter, family and love.

tess howland makes a point of finding someone to hook up with the night of her hospital's annual fundraising gala. a divorced mom of three and picu nurse and home hospice caregiver, her daily life has her running ragged. so the one night of the year she gets to dress up as a princess she also makes sure she all out enjoys it. and she gets more than she bargained for in one night with a millionaire.

miles prescott is his family's screw up. the youngest of three, he's the child with no real drive or ambition, so, for the most part, they have him making rounds on the party circuit. which is fine. he doesn't love it, but he also doesn't like to make waves. but when a sexy picu nurse catches his eye at the latest gala his mom has him attending, he has no idea what lies in store for him.

they connect that first night with searing passion. and miles wants more. he's never wanted more with anyone before, but tess is that special.

she's also not ready to let someone into her chaotic life. especially someone who is probably biting off more than he can chew.

this story really worked for me. i love how tess and miles talk and work through their issues. neither of them is perfect and they make mistakes, but nothing is so insurmountable either. i'm looking forward to future books in this series.

**one night with a millionaire will publish on january 14, 2019. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/entangled publishing (august) in exchange for my honest review.

5 Star Review of One Night With A Millionaire by Shannyn Schroeder (Daring Divorces #1)

I thoroughly enjoyed One Night With A Millionaire. Perhaps because the heroine is a little older; I’m not sure. The writing was great and I found myself diving right in and I couldn’t put the book down. From the first to the last chapter I was hooked.

A single mum and nurse in her forties, Tess Howland’s life is all about trying to maintain peace and a sense of balance; not only with her kids but also her ex-husband and work.

When the opportunity arises for a one night stand with sexy as sin, Miles Prescott, she decides to go for it, after all nothing will come of it, right? Imagine Tess’s shock when the millionaire is interested in pursuing more than the initial one night. What will Tess do? Will she accept or run?

Miles and Tess were fantastic together and I loved how accepting Miles was of her life and her children, without completely trying to take over.

This was a feel good romantic lover story that hit all the right buttons for me. I loved the interaction as they got to know one another and it was often amusing to watch as Miles navigated the “instant” family he got as their relationship progressed.

This book made me smile and was an entertaining and fun read.

How wonderfully refreshing and fun it was to read a great romance between slightly older characters. This one gives us the story of hard working single mom Tess Howland, a woman with no time or energy for dating. Once a year though she lets herself cut loose for one night of fun and passion. This year that comes in the arms of Miles Prescott. He's a fun loving millionaire known for his no strings approach to relationships. Yet for Miles one taste of Tess is never going to be enough. Now he just needs to convince her he's in it for the long haul and worth taking a risk for.

Great fun read that I thoroughly enjoyed. I definitely recommend it.

One Night with a Millionaire by Shannyn Schroeder is the First book in the Daring Divorcees Series. This is the story of Miles Prescott and Tess Howland.
Tess is a working single mother trying to keep her and the kids going. Tess is very serious and protective of her children but sometimes she needs a little down time. When Tess attends a fundraising gala she meets Miles where they have a one night stand...or so she thought. Miles has always been a playboy but after meeting Tess he thinks he found the one women for hm...but trying to convince Tess that he wants more than their night is going to be a battle up hill for him.
Enjoyed their story.

DNF at 10%.

Tess Howland is a single mother and a nurse, attending the annual fundraiser ball to garner funds for her patients. MIles Prescott is a millionaire . with a match-making mother, forced to accompany his mother to the ball since his father died.

I love a Cinderella romance and a single mother with a millionaire? Sign me up. Unfortunately, the little I read made Tess sound like a woman desperate for a one-night stand with literally anyone on her one night of freedom. When she talked about finessing the situation with Miles to get him suggest they spend the night together the gorge rose in my throat.

Maybe it gets better, maybe we see Tess being a caring mother and nurse but when I gave up there was precious little of that and an awful lot of a good-time girl on the pull.

Not for me.

Single parents are all the rage but what I loved about this was it’s a single mum in her forties trying to make ends meet, keeping her three children happy and healthy as well as trying to appease the ex husband.
Tess has been divorced for a few years and dating has never been on the cards until she meets Miles at the Saints Marks fundraiser, her job is to work the floor raising funds for her department but when she comes across the hot bored playboy the last thing she expects is a wild night of passion....
Miles is only there because it was his late fathers fundraiser, he is bored with charity circuit but he is there to support his mother, what he didn’t expect was to wake up in the morning and find the woman he spent a passionate night with to have disappeared in the middle of the night.....
This is a present time Cinderella story, it’s fun, it’s romantic and it has characters you can’t help falling in love with. I loved watching this couple get to know each other and I loved seeing Miles learn how to deal with an instant family who may or may not be looking for a father. If you love romance with a feel good factor this is a must read. Can’t wait to read more from Shannon Schroeder

Tess Howland's a single mom in her 40’s with a demanding job as a nurse.

Miles Prescott is a millionaire, good time with no strings type of guy.

Until these two meet and then all bets are off. She’s thinking he’s a one night stand. A best sex of my life type of 1 night stand! He’s thinking she’s gorgeous and one night stand. As it turns out, it becomes much more than he could ever have imagined.

I understood why Tess was hesitant to let a man “help” her but it comes across as a little harsh. Her ex is a not a present parent. Miles is younger and has no responsibilities. Mixing in children always makes things more complicated. Miles is totally out on a limb here but he wants Tess in his life -permanently.

I loved that these characters were older than the typical romance published currently. The dance of kids, exes and new loves is very much a part of real life these days. In One Night with a Millionaire, the kids added laughter and levity. It was needed here. Honestly, great sex is great, and lord know I love all things steamy but I didn’t get their connection. I didn’t love Tess but I LOVE angst and that there is aplenty. I also appreciated Shannyn Schroeder giving us dual point of views.

Determined to expand my reading horizons I picked up this sweet and sexy contemporary romance by an unknown to me author. From the get go I enjoyed the sparks between the two protagonists and the determination on the part of our millionaire to win the fair lady who definitely has a chip on her shoulder where money is concerned.
As the family baby, Miles lives a charmed life enjoying the job that his daddy created for him and living his life to the max. Then he meets Tess at a charity ball. Tess is a nurse who's attending the benefit designed to raise money for the hospital where she works. Divorced, a mother of three she lives a full life devoting her time and attention to her children and making a decent living for them.
Open to a night out on the town, ready for her annual sex and steam encounter she definitely did not plan on Miles who follows up on a night that rocked them both with a personal visit looking for her at the hospital. Before long dared on by her divorcee support group she's meeting him for lunch and nookie. Then it's the sexting in the laundry room, even her kids especially her teenage daughter notice the amount of time being spent in the laundry room.
Miles is persistent and charming and dissolves her barriers one by one getting close to her heart; her kids. Of course it's bound to happen, Tess has high expectations and expects Miles to fail...…. Can they pick up the threads and work their way through the angst and the agony?
All in all a nice fun read designed to break up the post holiday doldrums.

Single mom of three, works two jobs and not afraid to ask for the big O. Single rich playboy, new woman for each event, doesn't really see kids in the future....until a night with Tess. It's instant chemistry for these two but it takes lots of convincing by Miles for Tess to take a chance on love. She's a great mom putting the kids first but the kids are rooting for mom to find love. Fun and flirty with sexy times. Always a pleasure to read a Schroeder book, excited for the new series. Tess Howland, the divorced heroine here, knows how to bring home the bacon and fry it up in a pan, folks. She works tirelessly as a nurse juggling multiple side jobs to keep her bills paid and more importantly, her three children happy and healthy. The latter often involving dealing with a clueless, doctor ex-husband, who claims to care but not stepping up in all the ways that count. I’d like to tap Tess on the shoulder and remind her she should swallow her pride and accept more help. Whether that comes in the form of asking for beaucoups/bookoos/bukus (hey, no matter the language you speak it all means the same - “lots”) more alimony or the generous help Miles offered. Her ex-hubby can clearly afford it.

Speaking of rich, Miles is obviously a millionaire. No, I’m not a detective. The title told me so. He’s lived a charmed life as a happy, go lucky Good Time Charlie until one night with Tess makes him realize he now wants what he never knew he needed, a real relationship. Yes, he’s made past mistakes and has a party boy history, but somehow Tess seemed to flip a switch in him that made him want more out of life and himself.

I enjoyed their stumbling into love experience but was somewhat frustrated at times with their doubts and insecurities about where they ultimately were headed. They go back and forth quite a bit, which creates on and off again relationship angst. The constant is their off the charts steamy chemistry and genuine feelings for one another.

Tess is super protective of her kids to the point she has some knucklehead moments. One major one in particular near the end. Honestly, at one point I was surprised Miles didn’t walk away early on. He thankfully seemed intent on going the distance most of the time but would mentally second guess himself, too. Tess was constantly testing the waters and wind speed of their relationship in fear eventually Miles would feel overwhelmed and want to move on to a lady love with less responsibilities. Personally, I loved how Miles for the most part seem determined to stay steady the course, though even he got lost and caught up in his own head/ misgivings on occasion.

So, if you are up to spending the evening with an “it’s complicated” relationship angst filled romantic tale featuring a couple from completely different lifestyles, you might want to consider this book. As usual, this author’s writing flows seamlessly. Just prepare yourself, my fellow romance book loving friends, for several graphic, hot and steamy smexy scenes right from the very beginning.

Title: One Night With the Millionaire, Author: Shannyn Schroeder, Pages: 279, stand-alone, single mom nurse heroine, millionaire good guy hero whose just now learning what real life is life for others, very graphic steamy scenes, no cheating, No OW/OM drama, no love triangle, lots of relationship angst.

Great to see an experienced couple fall in love

One Night with a Millionaire is the first book in Shannyn Schroeder's Daring Divorcees series.
I must admit, this book took a little bit of time to really capture my attention. I wasn't really excited about how Tess was looking for a one night stand(must have missed that in the book blurb) with Miles. However as Miles pursued her I enjoyed how the plot moved. I especially liked that the main characters were mature adults and the storyline reflected the challenges of life as a single mom. I think there was personal growth on both Tess and Mile's part that made the story more interesting. I also thought the secondary characters of family and friends rounded out the story well. I definitely am interested in reading the next book in this series when it comes out.

I wanted this book to be a lot better than it was in actuality, this was a story of a single mom who meets a rich guy, insists on having sex with him every time they meet. Even though the story really gives little reason for it he falls madly in love and she is so "I can take care of any problems" that she is really not that likable to the reader IMHO.

I am sure the author wanted to portray a strong woman who has had a few hart times and now is making her own way in the world but what she gives us is a bit of a bitch who will go ballistic if a man tried to do anything to make her life easier or spend any money on her or her kids (there are some good reasons for the money on the kids thing but not to the level she takes it)

So by the time it ended I was happy for our contestants and kinda glad the book was over. so 3 Stars from me for a story that defied simple logic at every turn.

This is the first book that I have read by this author and I am totally in love with her writing. This book captured my attention from the moment I started reading it. This book is about Tess and Miles. Tess is a divorced mom with three kids who really does not get a lot of help from her ex-husband. She is a very strong organized woman who always like to be in control. Miles still does not know what he really wants to do with this life. He lives his life really one moment to the next not really thinking about the future. Then he meets Tess. Tess makes him want things in life that he never really wanted before. Tess is really afraid to let Miles get to close to her and her kids because she fears being let down and worst of all hurting her children. This book is just such a great romance book with just the right amount of drama thrown in to keep you on your toes. Tess's children are really great and reading how they interact with their mom and Miles is such fun. The other divorcee's in Tess's group are a hoot. I cannot wait to see where this series heads next. Thanks Net Galley. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.

Tess is the momma bear to end all momma bears. She is devoted to her children and tries not to rely on anyone. She usually gives herself one night to be about her and when she meets Miles and things get steamy, she vows it is going to be a one time thing. The only problem with that is Miles and his wants. Never one to settle down, Miles is surprised when he can't get Tess out of his head.
Tess has walls built for a reason and she likes to be in control. Even though they agree to continue an intimate relationship, she doesn't want it to be more. Her friends tell her that maybe she needs to start dating again with someone exactly like Miles (the non-settling down type). While Miles agrees to it, he also decides that he wants to get to know her better. Little by little, her walls start coming down and they both realize that their hearts are involved. When Miles makes one mistake and tries to fix it by using his money (a major point of contention from the beginning), it threatens to break them up for good. Miles pulls out all the stops to get her to realize that he isn't going anywhere, but it might not be enough. I can't wait to read more stories about her friends in the Divorce group.
While I loved this book, there were times that I wanted to strangle Tess. I understood why she was the way she was, but I also felt she was being unfair at times. Miles melted my heart. Once he realized that he wanted Tess he went for it and didn't back down.

Tess Howland's life is as full as she can stand it. Full-time caretaker, part-time nurse, full-time mom to three kids... she doesn't need another complication in her life. She's ready to let loose every so often with a random hook-up and leave it at that.
Miles Prescott is okay with his life. Yeah, his family is pushing him to take on a role he doesn't really want and maybe he's a little tired of going out with so many women but he's definitely not expecting the connection he feels to Tess. Nor the urge he feels to meet her children.
Tess isn't ready for someone who's going all in but Miles is wondering where this connection might take them.

Four stars

I really enjoyed this book a lot. Tess and MIles really made me believe in their love story.
Although the book title implies this is a fluffy saucy book. Surprisingly it actually had a lot of substance.
Tess and Miles love story is amazingly normal although their struggles are so different.
I will say Miles easy acceptance of Tess's life was a bit hard to belive. I expected a moment of resistance to the life changes occurring. All in all, MIles was sweet and adorable.
