Quick easy read, drawn out in places, too twee in others, with some unrealistic dialogue.
Thanks to NetGalley for the eARC.

A perfect summer read with characters you'll be rooting for, a real feelgood story. The book revolves around Bryony's attempts to find her long lost sister by participating in a game show set in France, and the other contestants we meet along the way. The author's love of France shines through as does her obvious experience of appearing on game shows and the camaraderie between contestants

It was very difficult for me to get into this book, even though I thought the premise was great. Unfortunately I felt it dragged quite a bit, and it just wasn’t for me.

This a cute book with a fun and fast-paced plot line that takes the reader to France. I had fun reading this book and recommended it to several other readers because of that! I hope to see more from this author in the future.

A light-hearted beachy read, it made me want to jump on a plane and frolic around the French countryside.

Pack this book in your suitcase for your next holiday, you will meet some great characters, have your heart strings pulled, maybe shed a tear, wish you had a best friend like Melinda and start looking at French Chateau property.

I loved this book and enjoyed the characters. In my opinion this is not your usual romantic comedy, I thought this was an original story about Bryony and her search for Hannah her missing sister. Hannah left home when she was sixteen and hasn't been seen since. Many years later Bryony applies to take part in a new television gameshow called 'What Happens in....' in the hope that Hannah will see the programme and hear Bryonys' plea for her to return home. Bryony and her handsome team mate Lewis set of on a French adventure.

I didn’t enjoy this book, I struggled with the story and skimmed though it. Not for me. But that isn’t to say others won’t enjoy it. I absolutely love this authors detective series.

What Happens in France puts me in mind of the 1963 film, It's a mad mad mad mad world. Both story lines tell of a hugely entertaining madcap journey around a country with the cast trying to outwit their rivals and win the prize! In Bryony Masters' case, the real prize would be to find her long-lost sister, Hannah.

What Happens in France is set around a TV game show which pits several couples against each other in a scavenger hunt around France. It's a great premise for a story, providing a thoroughly entertaining backdrop to a surprisingly emotional story. Underneath the wackiness and humour, the author explores the themes of families, trust and guilt. There is a great flow to the writing, combining the lighthearted humour and the weightier themes without missing a step.

Wyer has provided a wonderfully colourful selection of characters, all colourful and engaging. Bryony is a good solid protagonist - intelligent and level-headed, with a undeserved guilt weighing her down. Handsome Lewis plays the potential love interest and I particularly liked Jim and Oscar and their canine companion, Biggie Smalls. He may be a dog, but he's full of personality! Wyer deftly explores the dynamics between the various competitors.

I must say that I adored the setting. Any book set in France makes me dream of buttery croissants and freshly baked baguettes. I think I'm a bit of a Francophile at heart!

This book is an absolute hoot! It has humour, entertainment, intrigue, romance - what more could you want?!

Big thanks to Canelo and Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book for review.

Has everything a good chick lit book should have - lots of fun, flirting and a good story. I laughed out loud in places and really want what happens in... to become a real game show it sounds like tons of fun.
I loved this book and didn’t want it to end. Please, please write a second book following some if not all of the characters there is so much more I need to know about them all.

I thought the book dragged on a bit and was very very slow. I am an avid reader but really didn’t enjoy this book, sorry

Who wouldn't love this book!? The characters make you feel you are part of their lives, you experience their highs and lows just as you would in your own lives with the hope that the ending would turn out well for them, after all a fairy tale always does doesn't it? Set in wonderful France this is a fabulous book, humorous, poignant and a true reflection of modern life. A great read - highly recommended.

Love Carol Wyers books though haven’t read one of these ones and it’s usually the police thrillers, was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed this lighthearted novel. Briony was a great character and I really enjoyed her journey and will read more from Carol in this genre.

30 years ago, Hannah Masters ran away from home.

Bryony is Hannah's little sister and things have obviously never been the same at home since and their Father has had a stroke. Fearing that time is running out for her dad, Bryony has decided that she needs to find Hannah before it's too late and that the best way to do this is to take part on a game show - the game show being called "What happens in . . . "

There are some really heartbreaking moments in this book as well as some actual laugh out loud ones. There are so many characters that you come to like and care about. . . . and the dog is a superstar.

I have enjoyed reading this book and although it was not a 'cant put down' it was one that I found myself wanting to return to (I tend to read on my phone at times when I cant read an actual book - sorry, that means that my reviews come at odd intervals as I try to read all the book I review, and sometimes it takes quite a while!)

I found the story quite believable and characters real with their hopes and fears expressed well and I was able to be sympathetic to them. I would suggest the main two characters take over the hosting for the next country visited by What happens …..

Altogether a friendly easy read with a happy ending (always a plus in my book) and with Characters you could warm to and want to know what happens next.

What Happens in France - Carol Wyer

I love Carol Wyer, she is absolutely one of my very favourite authors. I wasn't aware that initially she wrote chick lit as I first found her via Detective Robyn Carter series and since then I've read everything I can get my hands on.

The story in told in the past and the present which tenses I always enjoy as I feel it gives a little added depth to the characters. I have to say that the characters made me smile they were believable and engaging, I learnt a lot about the way that game shows work (everyday is a school day as my mum always said) the author having applied means that the process is accurate.

This was a really easy and fun book to read, I had a smile on my face most of the way through it. For all I smiled a lot there was still some poignant and personal parts which did have me with a lump in my throat. Carol shows in her books that she takes the time to look into her chosen topics. I highly recommend all of this authors books.

Read for an honest review. Thank you Netgalley, Carol Wyer and Canelo Publishers
