Alas, this one wasn't for me. It read like an early draft with Hallmark levels of cheesy cringiness. It would benefit from a few more rounds of editing.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the reading copy.

Quirky Romcom…
The morgue is no place for Nathan Jones - as everyone is about to find out. But Nathan’s life changes after his trip there and along with a huge affection for a certain mortuary technician his second life begins. A quirky, definitely oddball and lighthearted romcom with a difference,

This is a sprightly rom-com of sorts about an unlikely pair. Nathan thought he was dead (so did everyone else) but he's alive and now there's Kat. It's told from her perspective; this might have been better if they'd both had their say but it's still a good read.

An unexpected accident and you should be dead, but instead you come back to life. Your wife is disappointed, and you are in love with the girl who brought you back. A comedic scene that leaves you enthralled.

I tried, guys. I really tried. It takes a lot for me not to finish a book, particularly one that I was given as a review copy, but I can't read any more of this.

Nathan died after being hit by a bus - or so everyone thought. He wakes up in the mortuary after some medical blip and is discovered by Kat. Rather than be freaked out by a dead body coming back to life, she comments on how cute he is? I know we're desperate Kat but please. And that's not even the creepiest part.

After having approximately 1.5 conversations with Nathan, Kat shows up out of the blue at his house, lets herself in, gets them drunk, cooks him dinner and makes rude remarks about how messy his life is. She also admits to having looked him up to find his address and heritage and whatnot. If I were Nathan I'd be running for the hills, calling the police and moving house. But he just goes with it. What the hell?

There were also a few scenes with Kat's best friend who used to be fat. The way this was discussed really irked me. I didn't save any quotes but it wasn't nice at all.

I'm really disappointed about this one, because the premise was so interesting and there was so much potential for this to be great.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the review copy.

Nathan Jones is walking to the market when he is struck by a bus. From the title, I thought this would be the story of how Mr. Jones found a newfound zest for life after his accident. Instead, It was more the story of KAT, a girl he met after being injured. She narrates the story, so we see her point of view rather than Nathan's. I would have liked the author to have perhaps alternated viewpoints. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this book.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.

After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.

I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.

Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.

A delightful hilarious romp with a twisted storyline that keeps you wanting more. Kat and Nathan are an unlikely pairing that are so right. I am sorry to reach the end of this lovely book. More please!

What a great book! It is very rare for me to laugh out loud when reading but I did several times whilst reading this! In fact, my husband thought I was laughing at him - and he was just lying in bed next to me so couldn't understand what he had done!!

Such an unusual concept / beginning to this book, which then turned into a real modern rom com. I loved Kat - she was really different and individual, a bit wacky and off the wall, but you could really relate to her at the same time. Her and Nathan certainly got into some scrapes but I loved the fun that they had. Did it have a "happy ever after" ending - well, I wouldn't want to spoil your enjoyment of such a good read by telling you that! You'll just have to have the fun of reading it yourself to find out - and I really recommend you do that if you are looking for a easy to read great book.

Thank you to Net Galley and the publishers for allowing me to review this story in return for a honest review which is what this is.

I received an advanced digital copy of this book from the author, publisher and Netgalley.com. Thanks to all for the opportunity to read and review. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Mr. Atkinson's novel is sweet, and funny and heartbreaking all at the same time. Parts will make you laugh out loud.

A fun, lighthearted read for the summer.

4 out of 5 stars.

Very unusual different book but with lots of humour. Touching on serious issues and topics but making you life. that is escapism at its best

It's just your typical book of girl meets boy at the morgue. We meet Nathan (presumed dead) at the morgue, but surprise, he's not dead. What happens from there is pursuit by the woman who finds him and an examination of his life. It's an interesting premise for a book, but the narration style was not quite what I expected.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.

What a fun, laugh out loud book this is! I was drawn to the cover of this book initially and the description let me know that I must read this one. I am glad that I did. It was fast-paced and entertaining. I appreciated the strengths that the characters portrayed.

The narrative was a bit tricky to keep up with but overall I got the jist as I continued reading. I enjoyed the ending and found this quite enjoyable. Thank you Netgalley, Harper Impulse, and Killer Reads for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This books depicts the story of Nathan Jones, that gets hit by a bus. Meanwhile he gets taken to the morgue and put inside a cold chamber. When Kat, the mortician working at the time hears some banging she decides to open one of the chambers and discovers Nathan inside alive. <i>"It had finally happened - I'd fallen for a corpse"</i>
I feel like Kat fell for Nathan too soon, it was without a doubt instalove, she was also a bit too aggressive in the beginning in her pursuit for Nathan. But did I love to follow one another fall for each other and how the relationship developed even though it was a bit cringe at times. I loved how the author depicted Kat as a goth, always seen with prejudice but in fact Kat was a lovely person. For example when playing with Nathan's daughters and building a relationship with them, it was super cute.
I do feel the pace at the beginning was too fast but after that it started to fall into place.
I did enjoy quite a lot this story and I bet I'll re-read it any time soon.
Quotes I liked:
"You've been through a traumatic experience. Not many get to die and come back.
Vampires do."
"Oh, dear, amnesia too. You should go and see Dr Spencer again.
She wants to introduce me to Jesus.
I've heard he's a nice guy.
We won't have anything in common."
And now my favourite one by far:
"Dad, I'm goth. It's not a werewolf mask or anything. Underneath I'm a nice person. If I have to change who I am to try and attract someone, what does that say about me and what does it say about that person who'd only want to be with me if I pretended to be something I'm not?"

An easy romp with the base story being girl meets boy at the morgue however there are feeling themes and issues that are explored along the way. Thanks to the publisher and netgalley for the arc.

I enjoyed this story very much and felt like I knew each character personally due to the description of them. I enjoyed the storyline. This is not my usual genre but in this instance I am extremely pleased and grateful for opening up my mind to something totally different. Thanks again.

Cute story, very easy to read. I liked the message for the main character who felt good about the way she looked & dressed to suit herself. This was my 1st book read by this author & I will look forward to reading more by him in the future!

I really enjoyed this book, it’s very different from other books I have read. It has laugh out loud humour and the story moves along well. I did like the characters too.
