Good read for kids to realize all that moms do. The illustrations are creative as well and really fit with the story on each page.

Great Job, Mom is a delightful book that recognizes the varied contributions mothers make in their families.

It takes ordinary tasks mom does and puts an admiring spin on them. When mom is managing the fridge paintings, she is an art curator. As she riffles through the laundry basket to seek out the requested clothing item, she is an archaeologist. When she documents the family's day in photos, she is a journalist. When she facilitates a dance party, she is a DJ.

It's important to draw attention to the clever pictures - each page has intricate felted scenes. While I found the whole book charming, it's quite possible my favorite part happens to be outside of the narrative, where the author lets us in to show us details about his craft at the close of the book. I know it won't only be fascinating to me; it is also bound to draw in younger readers.

The book ends with the words, "Mom does one job for her career, the others out of love." It is an empowering read that acknowledges all the roles a mother fills.

'Great Job, Mom' by Holman Wang is a board book about all the jobs a mom has. It features amazing felt dolls like he made for the Cozy Classics series.

A mom has many jobs. Outside the home, she might be a carpenter, but at home, she is a general dispensing orders, and an archaeologist and scientist. The book shows mom racing to save a falling child, or taking a photo of baby's first steps. The book ends with a short afterword showing the process to make this book.

The pictures in this book (and previous ones by Holman Wang), are what are compelling. In this book, the details make the pictures really work. The text is also a good reminder to kids of how hard parents work.

A wonderful celebration of everything mom does in the home and on the go. Great illustrations and I loved how it showed a mom who has a career as well as a family and how she manages to do both. Definitely one I will be bringing into my store.

This is adorable! The first page shows Mom at her dayjob (as a carpenter!), but all subsequent pages show Mom in all the "jobs" she does at home out of love - like be an art curator of child's drawings, nurse when kids are sick, or archaeologist finding matching socks. Very creative, and the time it took to make all the illustrations out of those felt characters is astounding! I liked the little description of how he does it at the end.

Holman Wang branches out on his own with this brand new board book series celebrating the unique and endless work and roles of Moms and Dads. The detail, humor and description of the process create an inviting read for all. Moms and Dads do such a great job and do so much, they are each so deserving of this book! I appreciate the diversity of families presented in this board book duo.

Authorstrator Holman Wang is my needle felting hero. I like to dabble in the art of felting wool into adorable little creations, but Holman Wang takes needle felting to a whole new level. In his new books Great Job, Mom! And Great Job, Dad! Holman Wang created the artwork in the book through needle felted scale models that were then photographed. He has created to most beautiful and detailed sets, carefully planned and photographed in such a way to let the outside shine in when the art requires it. In Great Job, Dad take a look at the librarian page. The bookshelves he created look a whole lot like the ones at our home, full of some of our most favorite books. See if there are any of yours!

Beyond the incredible illustrations these books are so great to offer children perspective on the things their parents do for them everyday. Not only do Mom and Dad have careers they do during the day, they also have many different jobs they do at home with their children. Not only is mom a carpenter, but she is also a scientist, doctor, DJ, and zookeeper. Not only is dad a manager but he is also a waiter, astronomer, librarian, and pilot. These books help give children an appreciation for all parents do. The books also show mom and dad in ungendered rolls, as nurturers and career persons who both love their children.

These are perfect books to share with early years children to help them understand families and how families work together.

In this unique picture book, the “illustrations” serve as the main character. The story, told in rhyme, depicts Mom’s various activities throughout a day in a textile format known as needle-felting - pieces of wool painstakingly shaped and molded using a barbed needle. Each page is a separate tableau, similar to a room in an elaborate doll-house. Needle-felted figures are set among the rooms and elements of everyday life, which are made from other materials – wood, fabric, etc. The author/illustrator describes his working process at the back of the book.

Another hit out of the ballpark for Wang. This is a companion to Great Job Dad. And what a great job he did.

Wonderfully artistic photographs (created with felted wool people and props) from the artists behind the 'Cozy Classics' series. Great variety of non-gender-stereotyped activities for Mom to get up to with her kiddos.

I read this book to my granddaughter while her mom was in the room. I am not sure who liked the book more. This is a celebration of mothers and all they do for their families besides their nine to five job. My grandaughter did not understand some of the words but we talked about the wonderful illustrations and asked what is mommy doing? Each two-page spread has a gorgeous illustration and a two line stanza that is completed on the next page. The rhyming cadence is easy to read and makes for good pacing. The author includes some information in the back on how the illustrations are created. Each one is a work of art. If you have a child who is artistic, get them this book or its companion Great Job, Dad! to show them the art and allow them to learn about the process. I definitely recommend this to families as well and primary classrooms. The publisher generously provided me a copy of this book upon my request. The rating, ideas and opinions shared are my own.

This is a sweet and simple book that provides creative artwork alongside an important message. While the mom in the book has an “official” job, each page shows the many hats a mom may wear each day. Cute and sure to be a fun chance to talk about careers with young children.

I will start with the last sentence of the book first: "Mom does one job for her career, the others out of love."

This is an amusing and sweet book for children and their parents. It shows a mom who goes to her day job and then comes home to more work. At home the mom is everything from a journalist to a DJ to an archaeologist as she interacts with her children and completes tasks around the house. For example, she is a DJ when she dances to music with her children.

The illustrations in this book are unique. The author has crafted felted figures. He then photographs them in the settings that he has chosen.

This is an enjoyable story. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher. The opinions are my own.
