This was really cute and corny. I would have loved to read Narwhal as a kid. The illustrations are simple but bold. While it is a kid's book that doesn't stop the author from playing with words (though it is probably far more accepted in kid's books). Jelly becomes jealous of Narwhal becoming friends with Otter, who makes some outrageous claims, but everyone comes together to have fun in the end.

The premise of the book is great and the author really delivers. Great read. Highly recommended. .

The cuteness continues! In book 4 we're met with a brand new friend, Otty the otter and as usual, one friend greets Otty with optimism (Awesome!) while the other casts some serious side eye suspicion (here's looking at you, Jelly). How will the duo transform into a trio? Will there be waffles involved? What do you call a group of otters? Learn all this and more in book 4.

Having more than one best friend is hard. When Narwhal introduces Jelly to his long time friend Otter, Jelly starts to feel left out and jealous. This is always an important lesson for kids to learn. It's okay to have lots of different friends and it doesn't mean anyone loves or likes you less. It was fun and funny and I'll definitely recommend to kids!

Narwhal makes a new friend, Otty the otter, but Jelly is...well, a little Jelly. Jelly is afraid that Narwhal will be spending so much time with Otty that Jelly won't get to spend any time with Narwhal. But it may turn out they have more in common than they all thought!

My favorite part of this book is that there are so. many. puns. I am a big lover of puns, if you couldn't tell by the first sentence of this review. The book also contains fun otter facts, and I learned a lot. For example, I did not know 12 of the 13 species of otter are endangered. I also did not know they hold hands while sleeping, which makes me want to cry from sweetness, or that they trap bubbles to make a blanket to stay warm. Otters are precious and even though this is a very fun, goofy book of short graphic stories, it helps instill morals of friendship and a love of nature.

Thanks NetGalley, for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. This was a fun, adorable read. Great book for encouraging social interaction, helping to cope with being an old friend, being introduced to a new friend. Awesome egg puns, a whole spread dedicated to them in fact, something that my son truly enjoyed. Overall, I enjoyed reading this and I believe that a number of my kiddos would lineup for it as well!!!!

I haven’t read any of the other books in this series, but this one is adorable! Starting this school year I will be working in elementary school libraries so I will definitely be purchasing this series if it’s not already in the library

Another winner from Ben Clanton. Narwhal and Otter are so sweet and I appreciate how real issues that children sometimes deal with are dealt with in a funny way.

This is actually the first book in this children’s series I’ve read but I would definitely recommend it. It was very cute and easy to read, and I really appreciated the message that you can have more than one friend. But Jelly is definitely my favorite character in the book and I thoroughly enjoyed the section where we got to learn more about jelly-fish in general and why Jelly as a character is so much better than Otter. Very cute.

My students LOVE Narwhal and Jelly and I’m so glad I got to read book 4 in advance, because once it hits my shelves I won’t be able to get my hands on it! This is another great addition to series and I just love the cute illustrations! Thank you, NetGalley for the ARC!

Thank you to NetGalley for a free digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is the 4th book in the Narwhal series. Otty is a new character and is Narwhal’s new friend and Jelly is a little jealous. This is a fun series that kids absolutely love. The characters are cute, illustrations are fun, the dialogue is simple yet has enough story line to keep kids entertained. It is an excellent bridge between picture book and chapter book. Great for fans of Elephant and Piggie books.

I have loved all of the Narwhal books, including this one. Otty is a new character in the series, and Jelly isn't sure what to think of her.

*Thank you NetGalley for access to this book in exchange for honest review.*
A cute little story about Jelly becoming jealous of Narwhal's new friend, this book is a pretty accurate look at childhood jealousy. I also appreciate the fact that no one shamed Jelly for their emotions. It's a nice story to reassure your feelings are okay, as long as you express them in healthy ways

This review is done, by a six yar old with formating help from her mother, in exchange for an early distribution copy by netgalley.com.

You could imagine her surprise and excitement after learning she was able to read the NEW Narwhal and Jelly book, before anyone else, on her tablet! She quickly opened up ‘Narwhal’s Otter Friend’ by Ben Clanton and we began reading it together.

The very title of the book is a play on words– Narwhal’s OTTER Friend (sounds a lot like — Narwhal’s OTHER Friend). The whole story stems around your main character, Narwhal, and his new and exciting friend, Otter. There is an imaginary rift created between Narwhal and his #1 bestie Jelly after Otter comes into play. This is a very common problem amongst 1st graders, they transition between besties quite often. So quickly, in fact, the transition usually leaves all three involved confused about what just happened. That is why this book is so well written and just a genuinely decent read for young elementary kiddies.

McKenzie gave Narwhal’s Otter Friend a 5 out of 5 ‘foxes’ <she adores foxes so they are her reference for likability>. She recommends it to ‘Everyone’ and is ready for future reads about Narwhal and Jelly. This book just recently became available for all on February 5th. Please go to your nearest library or book retailer to check it out for you 1st-4th grader at home.

Review from 6-year-old: "I like it! I like it because I like narwhals and because the book looks pretty! It's cool."

Review from 8-year-old: "I like waffles. I like the book because it's very detailed."

Mama review: I like that jelly always learns something and that there is always the theme of friendship.

When you read a Narwhal and Jelly book you know what you're going to get: simple line drawings, a basic plot about friendship, a few cheesy jokes, and a simple misunderstanding. Everything is easily cleared up in a few lines of dialogue. They're consistent and super fun to read. The addition of a few animal facts is a bonus.

A new Narwhal and Jelly book! My 10 year old son was very excited. He really has enjoyed this series.

It's cute, and silly. I like how it has a few facts about otters and jellyfish. And that they talk about jealousy in friendships. If your BFF makes a new friend, how does that make you feel?

My son said it was great, but too short. I think he's starting to get a little too old for these. Very cute read, perfect for the younger crowd.

This is a great series for young readers just learning to read / an introduction to graphic novels! Super cute illustrations and fun stories about Jelly and his friend Narwhal. In Narwhal's Otter Friend, Narwhal meets a new friend and Jelly has to come to terms with sharing his best friend. Great message about friendship and using ones imagination. I also really loved all the fun facts about otters!

'Narwhal's Otter Friend' by Ben Clanton is the 4th book in the Narwhal and Jelly series, and it's just as good as the rest, meaning funny and adorable.

Narwhal and Jelly have a perfectly great friendship, until Narwhal meets Otter. Now Jelly isn't sure what to think. Narwhal seems to really hit it off with Otter and they are planning to have an adventure. Jealous Jellyfish makes a new, and rather unusual friend, but what will Narwhal think of Jelly's new friend?
Along with this, there are facts about otters.

I love this series. I love the idea of a fun graphic novel series for young readers, and this series has remained solid and funny for the 4 issues that are out. Ben Clanton's humor and drawings are pitch perfect.

I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Penguin Random House Canada, Tundra Books, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

Another great edition to the Narwhal and Jelly Book series! There is a new animal friend in town, Otty (the otter) who is a self-proclaimed explorer. Narwhal is so happy to make a new friend and plan an epic adventure together. However, Jelly soon starts to feel left out and decides to find a new friend out of jealously. Filled with laugh out loud moments, fun animal facts, puns galore, and a great story of friendship, Narwhal's Otter Friend is a must read for kids and adults alike.
