I was given this book for free for an honest review. I liked this book and once started I had to read it all. The characters are very likeable and the close relationships between families, friends and siblings were very nice to read about. However, I felt that the mystery was solved too easy, the book does not let you question who the perpetrator is for too long. Also, I felt that the love story was a bit hurried and they fell in love with each other within days.

Audrey’s life was being the best equine veterinarian she could be. Her passion for horses could be seen in her work and she was highly coveted by the local ranchers to take care of their flock of horses. When horses are threatened she immediately steps in and tries to find out why they are sick. Meeting Caleb and having help towards finding the risk can be more than they both bargained for. The suspense will keep you awake long into the night as you become desperate to find the answers and if both characters can truly let go of the past to realize what they feel for each other only happens once in a lifetime.

This is the 3rd book in the Heart of Texas series and I would absolutely read the previous books before you read this one. This is about Caleb Harper and Audrey Martinez. Caleb is the brother of the main characters in books 1 and 2. Audrey is an equine veterinarian who has become fairly well known in their circles for being not only hard working but great with horses. A family friend comes to her to ask for help when some of his horses become sick, and when she suspects foul play, Caleb and his family are called to ask for help. Caleb is the younger brother of Abby and Brice. He truly doesn't believe that he will ever get married or have a family. He doesn't believe that people truly stay, not after what happened with his mother. But he doesn't expect to feel the things he does towards Aubrey. Neither one of them expect to feel the pull they do towards each other, and have no idea whether it is something that is real or just in the heat of the moment. And when things come to a head and Aubrey's life is in danger, will either of them admit the feelings they have? Or will they walk away in order to avoid heartache?
I think I loved this story even more than either of the other 2 books! Caleb has such emotional trauma from what his mother did and no one really knows exactly how much he truly has or knows what happened to him when she left. Aubrey has he own issues that she has to deal with and isn't sure she can trust in any kind of love. Throwing these two together and having them learn about what is truly important and how much someone can mean to you? It is beautiful! Even when things happen that make you wonder if they will break apart, you find out that their family understands exactly what family means. Including Jace and Cooper! Family isn't always about blood and I am glad that Caleb finally realizes that in this book!! And knowing that he has to work through what happened and actually forgive his mother for what she did, not for her, but for himself? That's truly mind blowing. Most people can't or won't do that, and never move beyond the issues they deal with from past trauma's. I love how it was written that! Now I am ever hopeful that Jace, Cooper, and now Aubrey's sister will have their own stories because I love those characters just as much as I loved the main characters of these books!

A cute little number that I couldn't put down. I love the mystery behind My Favorite Cowboy. You can just feel the spark between Caleb and Audrey from the start. Caleb is amazing and you can tell he is a little broken. I love how close he is with his family. Audrey is dedicated, stubborn and hardworking. She is amazing with horses and I love how she is with her sister Maddy. Once you start reading this you can just tell that Caleb and Audrey are meant to be. Caleb does an amazing job in protecting Audrey through everything that is thrown their way. If you love a good cowboy book with a bit of a mystery and touch of sweet then My Favorite Cowboy is one to pick up.

I have mentioned in other reviews that I love reading contemporary western romances. Something about cowboys makes me weak in the knees. They are my not so guilty pleasure. It was a no brainer that I was going to read and review My Favorite Cowboy when I was approached by the publisher.
I liked Audrey. She was a no-nonsense large equine veterinarian who genuinely cared about the animals. She worked for two large ranches and also helped a horse rescue out, free of charge. Her passion and love for horses were palpable. I loved that she was Hispanic. I have read very few books where Hispanic’s are the main female romantic lead. I thought it was wonderful and refreshing.
Caleb had some serious abandonment issues. He was the last person to see his mother before she took off. He asked her not to leave and she left. Her leaving affected everyone but Caleb was affected the most. That left some deep-rooted issues that manifested in Caleb having trust issues. He also couldn’t invest himself in relationships. I did like Caleb. Besides his issues, he was a great guy. It was interesting watching him fight himself as he was falling in love with Audrey. Interesting and sad.
The main plotline was excellent. It went from who was making the horses sick to who had a personal vendetta against Audrey. Usually, I guess who the person was early on in the book. But, in this case, I was kept on my toes. I was surprised at who that person turned out to be. I was also surprised at the lengths that person went through to cover their tracks. I thought it was going to be someone else and my mind was blown when that person’s identity was revealed.
There were a few secondary plotlines. One involved Caleb, Brice and Abby’s mother, Helen. Another one was Brice and Naomi’s fertility issues. Another one involved Audrey and Maddy’s father. They were all wonderfully written.
I was mad with the storyline involving Brice and Naomi. Caleb shouldn’t have said ANYTHING. NADA. It wasn’t his place. I would have been so upset if someone else broke news like that to the family.
I also understood why Caleb was so against meeting Helen. I also understood why he did what he did at the end of that storyline. Forgiveness is a hard thing to do.
I will say that the storyline involving Audrey and Maddy’s father was the only one that didn’t make sense. From the beginning to the end, I was left going “He did what? Why turn up now?“.
The sex scenes were fog up my Kindle’s screen hot. I was a little disappointed that the author went the whole “I forgot to wear a condom, hope you are clean” route. I know these are fictional characters but I was mentally screaming at them “Diseases, people. DISEASES. Get tested ASAP.”
The end of My Favorite Cowboy was nail-biting. The bad guy was revealed as was the reasons why that person did what they did. I loved the epilogue. I was left wondering if there was going to be more books in the series. I am hoping so.
I would give My Favorite Cowboy an Adult rating. There is sex (not explicit). There is language. There is violence. There are triggers. They would be the abandonment of a child, death of a parent, death of a spouse, infertility and animal abuse. I would recommend no one under the age of 21 read this book.
I would reread My Favorite Cowboy. I would also recommend this book to family and friends.
I would like to thank the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review My Favorite Cowboy.
All opinions stated in this review of My Favorite Cowboy are mine.

Romance made better with a mystery as part of the plot. I do wish it was made a little harder to figure out who was behind the mystery, but overall, I liked how it played out with the romance not being at the forefront the whole time. Audrey and Caleb were both likeable, both dealing with their own issues from the past. I liked how both had siblings that cared and worked together.

My Favorite Cowboy by Donna Grant is an excellent romantic suspense story. It was a story concerning a beautiful and competent vet Audrey, and a sexy alpha cowboy Caleb. This story was very well written with mystery, danger, suspense, and romance. It just all worked together to make a great story. All the other characters in the story added to make this an interesting read. This was a superb story that I highly recommend.

My Favorite Cowboy By Donna Grant is a romantic suspense with a very HOT cowboy as our hero, Caleb Harper. Audrey Martinez is a well-sought after equine vet. A long time family friend asks for her help in finding out why 4 of his horses are sick. For the longest time I thought this was a “clean” romantic suspense story. It just took awhile to get to any bedroom scenes, well-worth the wait! Almost, immediately Caleb and Audrey find an intense attraction to each other. As the danger closes in Caleb discovers that he has some pretty intense feelings for the beautiful vet. Unfortunately, past demons are keeping him from moving forward with his life. Audrey also has demons of the past and present interferring with her life. Will these two ever find love together or will they let the demons win? This story is told with multiple POV’s, which I like and it was quite easy to know which character was “talking”. I enjoyed this My Favorite Cowboy by Donna Grant and recommend it to anyone who likes HOT alphas with a heart-of-gold and smart, sexy, strong women who bring their men to their knees in the best possible way.

Donna Grant has written a hot cowboy romance. Good solid plot and unique storyline. I enjoyed reading it.

I really love this series. Donna Grant has managed to find the perfect balance to bring out the most emotion in her characters all while not overpowering and making it feel unrealistic.
My Favorite Cowboy finds us with Caleb, the youngest Harper sibling, and the one with the most trauma, and Audrey the local Vet, who has her own issues when it comes to relationships. When horses start becoming ill, Caleb and Audrey find themselves in a dangerous situation. I loved Caleb, he had that balance of bad ass alpha male, with just enough vulnerability underneath that you can’t help but fall a little for him. Not only did the relationship between Audrey and Caleb captivate me, but the mystery surrounding the horses kept me turning the pages. Easily a 5 star read and I certainly hope Donna Grant isn’t done with this series!

A sexy cowboy with a lifetime of abandonment issues will break your heart. But all it takes is a chance meeting and his world is knocked upside down. I love watching wounded people find healing in the most unexpected ways.

Three and a half
This series began at the end of 2017 with Clayton in Christmas Cowboy Hero when it introduced Abby and her two teenage brothers Brice and Caleb. Now the author has fast forward several years to give us happy endings for both brothers. It's the youngest, Caleb who features here and as this begins he's a love em and leave em type of guy scarred by what he sees as his mother's betrayal. Caleb isn't looking for anything permanent but things change pretty quickly when he meets a local vet with trouble breathing down her neck !
Audrey seems to have everything, successful career, looks and a loving sister. Yet she's someone not really looking for romance or permanent commitment so surprises herself when a certain cowboy rocking tight jeans catches her eye. Trouble is there's something odd happening to horses in Audreys care and as the mystery deepens any hopes of dalliance with Caleb are about to get well and truly side tracked !
Ok this works as a standalone romance but there's an awful lot of interaction with characters from previous books. For this reader the mystery and suspense felt really forced and it lacked an awful lot as the bad guys felt like caricatures. I just kept picturing Caleb as the diligent teenager who was previously introduced so even with the author trying to convince readers that he's ex army and all grown up now he just didn't compare to Clayton. I do appreciate the way the author gave closure to these characters and yes it upped the emotional content but for this reader was far from the authors best work.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments honest and I believe fair.

This was an easy, fun and sexy read that helped turn my hectic day into a relaxing and entertaining evening. The characters left me smiling as I enjoyed their journey through their story. It just flew off the pages and couldn’t put it down at all. I hope to see what this author comes up with next and hopefully with more books for secondary characters from this book. Definitely recommend

Audrey is a well known and highly coveted equine veterinarian. She is not just skilled but her love for the horses makes her one of the best. So when some horses started falling sick at an auction center, Audrey was called in to check them out.
When there was foul play suspected, Caleb and his family are called in to help boost up the security around the place.
Sparks fly off between Caleb and Audrey from the moment they see each other, but the first priority is saving the horses. Why is someone targeting the horses, or are they targeting some else through the horses ?
The suspense is superb, it keeps you guessing till the end who is the actual culprit. And the author has seamlessly woven in the romance, the chemistry and a touch of drama between the suspense not taking anything away. This is truly one of the better romantic suspense books I have read in along time.

This was a fast paced western themed romance with a heavy dose of mystery! It was ublike anything I’ve read lately which made it exactly what I needed. Caleb and Audrey are really kindred spirits, who have an almost instant attraction. Both harbor long term relationship doubt, and family issues.
Our heir is Audrey, and equine veg, funds herself a target in a “who done it” scenario. Horses are being poisoned, and we hear periodically from the suspect, what we don’t know is who he works for.
I loved all the sire characters and plan to go back and read the previous stories and follow along with the remainder. All in, it seemed like a LOT going on in every page flip. I really had to stop and read and reread some sections. Highly enjoyable!

The Heart of Texas series is based on a sister and her two younger brothers. Abby’s story is told in book one – The Christmas Cowboy Hero. Brice has his HEA in book 2, Cowboy Cross My Heart which takes place years after book one, with the brothers now men. The latest book, My Favorite Cowboy is Caleb’s story, the youngest Harper.
A good cowboy romance. There was instant attraction but both are dealing with relationship issues. I did like that the relationship was work in progress. There was a wonderful blend of mystery, suspense, and romance. I liked the storyline, the characters, and writing. I have enjoyed all three books in the series and seeing all three Harpers get their HEA.
Note: This can be read completely as a stand-alone read and you will not be lost with not having read book 1 or 2.

A big thank you to NetGalley and St. Martins Press for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is part of a series but reads well as a stand alone. I liked the book, it was interesting, as I haven't read many books about large animal veternarians. Caleb, and Aubrey are a cute couple. The thing with her dad was just odd but otherwise a good read! I give it 4 stars.

My Favorite Cowboy is about Caleb Harper (third member of the Harper family) and Audrey Martinez. It had a good story/bit of intrigue to it and it kept me reading pretty much straight thru until I had finished the book. Not only do we get to spend time with the Harper family, et al, but we also get to actually feel the pull from Caleb’s other family, his army buddies. They are a trip – needling and pushing Caleb – but they are right by his side when he needs to protect Audrey. What they don’t do, however, is help him protect his heart. And his family is right there with ‘em.
Audrey is a veterinarian who is passionate about treating horses and how they are cared for. Besides her practice, she volunteers to help abused and/or rescues. In My Favorite Cowboy, someone is targeting her “patients” – SO not cool with her. She and Caleb team up to not only protect the horses, but in life as well, much to their own (personal) chagrin(s).
The relationship part of their story is hawt and the building of trust and love between them is touching and is a great read. I liked this book. As I read My Favorite Cowboy, I remembered that I had already read the first two books in this series however in book-reading time, it was long ago. I can tell you that MFC can be read as a standalone but I was happy that I could go back and re-read about the family in the first two books because they were on my shelf. The Harper family has had its struggles however they are a very strong family unit...it’s just that they each get their turn to realize it. I recommend. I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest review.

My Favorite Cowboy is the third book of the Heart of Texas Series however I haven’t read the first two and it read just fine. This book is a romance/suspense story about Audrey an equine veterinarian who gets caught up in a mystery of poisioned horses who belong to a dear friend. As she works around the clock to save these horses we are introduced to Caleb a former green beret turned rancher. They fight their attraction to one another while batttling their own demons and trying to solve this mystery of poisioned horses and break ins. All characters fit in perfectly with one another, the story evolves nicely with its share of suspense, laughter, loyalty and steamy scenes. Its a perfect read for a stay at home cozy night.
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

My Favorite Cowboy is book three in the Heart of Texas series by Donna Grant. In book one, we met the oldest sister, Abby Harper. Book two, her younger brother, Brice got his turn. Now it’s the youngest Harper brother, Caleb’s turn.
As did Abby and Brice, Caleb Harper has some serious abandonment issues. Their mother left them when Brice and Caleb were little, leaving an eighteen year old Abby to raise the boys. Now, years later, Abby is happily married to Clayton East and Brice is married to Naomi. But Caleb is convinced he will never risk being hurt by opening his heart. He is a one and done cowboy. Brice and Caleb own a ranch together and train horses. Their entire family is very close knit. They’ve all been through so much together.
Audrey Martinez is an equine veterinarian. She’s become well known and her services are highly sought after. She also donates her free time to horse rescues, caring for the horses. A family friend runs such a rescue and has asked Audrey to help him with some sick horses. They can’t figure out what is wrong with the affected horses and the situation is getting worse by the hour. Foul play is suspected so Caleb, Brice, and their brother in law, Clayton are called in to help. That is how Audrey and Caleb first meet.
Horses are Audrey’s life. She’s worked night and day to get to where she is so she has given little time to relationships. She’s never really felt any sort of affection to anyone she has dated. She has always dreamed of finding that deep love her parents shared. But when she and Caleb first meet, she can’t deny there is something there that keeps drawing her to him.
Caleb and Audrey can’t deny the pull they both feel to each other but both are also dealing with the walls they have both built up. At the same time, the horses are getting sicker. As Audrey works night and day to find the answer, the situation gets more dangerous as things continue to happen. They have to wonder, who is the bad guy after? Is it a vendetta against that particular rescue? Or could it be Audrey herself that is being targeted.
“Whatever mess David had pulled her into was too deep for her to wade through on her own. She needed help. No. She needed Caleb.”
“We protect what’s ours, as well as our friends. You and your sister are counted among those now.”
First, I want to mention that I love the secondary characters. Jace and Cooper that have been in the books throughout are not blood of the Harpers and Easts (Addy’s husband’s last name) but they are family. And there is also Maddy, Audrey’s little sister. She was so spunky. This book had a fair amount of suspense as they try to solve the mystery of what has been happening to the horses. It was obvious from the beginning that Audrey and Caleb belonged together. They both had so much to work through, though, before they could let each other in. And it was not an opportune time with everything else going on. But does love ever choose an opportune time to strike? Perhaps it’s more like fate stepping in? Even though these two experienced pretty fast insta-lust, it took them both awhile to let the other in. They both made a lot of mistakes along the way. But, this is a cowboy romance. So you know that everyone will get their happy ever after in the end. It had a cute little epilogue as well that was six months down the line so we get a glimpse into their future. Things felt pretty tied up in the end so I don’t know if there are more books planned in this series or not. You could easily read this as a stand alone although then you just wouldn’t know the history of Caleb’s two siblings.
