Detectives Cole Trane and Mollie Simmons are pressured to quickly solve the murder of movie star Zoey Martine. Zoey had been in a car with $250,000 worth of designer dresses when she was shot dead by Russian thugs Igor and Vladimir. Igor has a distant cousin living in Canada so they head north, being pursued by both Cole and Mollie as well as by a trio of thugs sent by their Russian mafia boss Nikolai.

Lots of violence, swearing and dead bodies along the way. A stereotypical caricature portrayal of Russian thugs with thick accents.

I received an eARC via Netgalley and Black Rose Writing with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and provided this review.

Detectives Cole Trane and Mollie Simmons were once lovers but have gotten past that to being good partners who have each other's back. A killing right on the street in their town has them working on their own time to solve. The Russian mafia is involved. To catch the killer the detectives travel from Southern California to Canada. The story takes us into what the Russians are thinking as well as the detectives.

The Partners centers around Cole and Mollie. They are two detectives who once had a thing but split up. After getting past the weirdness factor of formerly being a couple, they must now work together. Their case involves the murder of a starlet and the Russian mafia. The chase is on to catch a killer! The story is action packed and entertaining as we follow along. The writing is good and unfolds at a good pace with plenty of suspense. Cole and Mollie likeable, clever and dynamic, especially within the scope of their relationship. It's a Iove hate vibe which I enjoyed. Overall, I would recommend for fans of thriller mystery fiction. It's an excellent read. You will not be disappointed. Thanks to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Really enjoyed this novel by Jack Polo. Kept the pulse racing with all the action and tension. We're introduced to Cole Tran & Mollie Simmons - two detectives with a previous love interest who now have overcome the awkwardness of the breakup to continue working together. Mollie has found love in the form of another woman, whilst Cole is still heartbroken from the breakup of his last girlfriend Amelie.

Cole & Mollie are tasked with the murder case of Zoey Martine - world famous moviestar. Zoey was driving back to work with $250,000 worth of dresses until she was gunned down by two Russian mobsters Igor & Vladimir. They were seeking $250,000 in cash but have gotten their wires completely crossed. Cole & Mollie now must track down the suspects and follow the trail which leads them all over the city before chasing the Russians in to Canada as they try escape. There was quite a lot of background in to the suspects which I enjoyed as it provided reasoning behind their madness and how such tragedy could occur.

Cole & Mollie make a good detective team and rely on each other's instincts to carry them through with the investigation much to the annoyance of their boss and Mayor. Would definitely recommend, a fun read with a lot of action.

Ahh... personal betrayal between two detectives now forced to work together again makes for a strange and toxic interaction as they embark on a case involving a Russian serial killer. Both the plot and the characters make this book a pure, pulse-pounding foray into the madness of those willing to kill for...pleasure?? Recommended.
