This is the third in this series and was really excited when it landed in my inbox. I am glad to say that this series is so GOOD and I did wonder if I was going to be disappointed. The answer is a resounding NO.
I was hooked from the first to the last page. This is compelling reading at its best.
You can read this book as a stand alone, there are references to her other cases. I am sure that once you have read this book you will want to search out the others in this explosive and very entertaining series.
I read this book in one sitting and my heart was in my mouth several times. A really entertaining crime thriller and the ending WOW. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
I would like to thank the author, Bookouture and Netgalley for the advanced copy in return for giving an honest review.

Absolute corker of a book, again! Gina Harte's third outing is just as great as her first! I started this book, loving Gina, the main character, anyway, she is an excellent policewoman although, rather flawed. Carla has brought her to life in her books and done it so well, I almost feel she is real. Anyone wants a series of books that make you feel like the story could have actually happened, this is the series, as the third book picks up and flies with the story. Although, saying this, you can read it as a stand alone also. Please keep up the good works Carla, you keep the suspense and twists up all the way through, Highly recommended!

Absolutely stunning book I loved it. Had my attention from page one and kept me engaged right through to the explosive end. Everything about this series of books is great, the style of writing, the characters, the storyline’s, it’s just a really good combination that works well together and the end result is a really good piece of crime fiction. This book was interesting, emotional, had some wow moments where I held my breath for a second and that ending was just fabulous. A really great book that deserves 5 stars!

Her Pretty Bones by Carla Kovach was really good. I was hooked from the first page and the story kept me engaged the whole way through.

A young woman falls from a van speeding down a quiet road. Battered and bruised, she turns her head to the person who comes to her aid. ‘Help her’, she whispers before her eyes close. Days later, the body of another young girl is found in a shallow grave just a few miles away. The similarities between the two girls are startling – same age, same frail body, same shocking red hair.
As the town fears there’s a serial killer living amongst them, Detective Gina Harte must put aside her own struggles at home, and catch the killer before he finds another perfect girl.

Typically I don’t love books that are series, I didn’t realize this was one of three stories about Detective Gina Harte, but it was such an intense read that I may have to read the other books! A young woman falls from the back of a van on a road in England and her life hangs in the balance as she is in a coma in the hospital. Who is she? Where did she come from? Why are her fingerprints burned from her skin? And what did she mean when she whispered, “Help her…” Help WHO? The girl is in terrible shape and barely alive, what happened to her?

This kicks off an intense search for the girl’s identity as well as that of the girl she mentioned. When the bones of a girl are found in a grave, the search intensifies. Are the two young women linked? Detective Gina Harte must put the pieces together and figure out the answers to all the questions.

Her Pretty Bones was a fantastic thriller/suspense that kept me reading and turning pages quickly. I highly recommend this one for those who love a good mystery and those who have read the other books in the Gina Harte series.

Due out January 17, 2019.

This is book #3 in the Gina Harte series. Whilst it can be read as a standalone book, it does make references to the stories from the previous two books, so it would make sense to read the series in order. I love Gina Harte’s character, so was pleased when I saw there was a third book in the series. Gina and her team are thrown into working on a case involving a young woman who falls out of the back of a van. Days later, when the remains of another young woman are found in a shallow grave, Gina comes to the conclusion that the two cases are linked.

The book began straight into the action when the young woman fell from the back of a van and the tension of the storyline didn’t let up from that point right through to the end. Told from the perspectives of different characters, the storyline continued with Gina and her team trying to piece together how the two cases could be linked. It also though veered back off into Gina’s personal life, with her relationship problems with her daughter, her on-off relationship with her boss and also with Gina still trying to deal with the emotions stemming from her abusive relationship with her husband. Whilst these two storylines were running along together, it didn’t feel like one overshadowed the other, with the right amount of time being devoted to each one.

I’ve said it through the previous two books and I’ll say it through this one! I love Gina Harte!! Whilst she’s a gritty, no-holds barred detective, I think she has been dealt a real rough hand in her personal life and is still suffering the consequences from this. Her daughter is still giving her hard time about how much time Gina devotes to her job and how little time she gives to her, and I can’t wait for Gina to finally tell her to shut up!! She is also still suffering the repercussions of suffering domestic violence from her husband, which is obviously having an impact on her relationships with everyone. What Gina really needs is a kind, caring relationship and a family who respects her and her career! Perhaps we’ll see this happen in future books, but then again, that wouldn’t make very interesting reading!!!

On the whole, this book was yet again a very good read. The characters and storyline were gripping and realistic, although some of the storyline was hard to read at times due to the nature of the story. There was lot of suspense and tension and it had me turning the pages quickly to get to the end. Highly recommended, and I can’t wait for the next instalment in the series.

I really enjoyed this. I will be having a look for the other books by this author. A young girl falls from a moving van, she's been badly treated and is in a bad way. All she says before she loses consciousness is "save her" Gina Harte has to find out what happened to her and who she needs to save. It's very well written. I would highly recommend this .

She’s just the girl he’s looking for…

After reading the first chapter about the two little girls, I was hooked. There was something definitely wrong with the younger sister. I loved the story, characters and writing style.

I was hooked from the start and found it impossible to stay away from this book. It's my first Carla Kovach book and I will definitely be downloading more by her. I wish I could give it more than five stars. I would like to thank Bookouture and netgalley for letting me have the book in return for an honest review. #Herprettybones#netgalley.

A young woman falls from the back of a speeding van narrowly missing the following vehicle. The only words she manages to utter before losing consciousness are "help her". Who is she referring to and why does she need help? Cue Detective Gina Harte and team to find out what's going on. The discovery of the remains of another young woman in the same area throws up more questions and puts more suspects in the frame.

This 3rd book in the detective Gina Harte series opens strongly and being set in my local area I could picture the scenes easily as I read. With very real issues being tackled such as teen runaways, homelessness and the effects of drugs this book shows just how easily life can take a downward turn from just one bad decision. The young women victims come from very different backgrounds but with the wrong influences it doesn't matter who you are or where you come from you can easily end up in a very dark place indeed.

The author makes references to events in the two previous books in the series which cleverly invites you to want to read them if like me you haven't already done so, however the story in itself works very well as a standalone novel. Some of the scenes make for uncomfortable reading but that's the reality of life on the streets and the author certainly hasn't shied away from telling it how it is. The word 'enjoyable' seems very wrong to use in this case, but I did find this a good book to read and will be going back to the earlier books to complete the series.

Excellent 3rd book in this series. I love this Author's writing. In this book Gina and her team have a big puzzle to solve. A young girl in deplorable condition falls out the back of a moving van, Her words "help her" lead Gina to believe there is anther girl in danger and the hunt is on. Gina is still troubled by a major event in her past and I was waiting for all to be revealed. Maybe in the next book which I am anxious to read. Thanks to NetGalley, Bookoutre and the Author for allowing me to read and review this book.

Being a real lover of Carla Kovach and Gina Harte - I was so excited to get this book, but it wasn’t as good as the others.
The storyline was good. A girl is found after being thrown/jumping out of a van - her injuries are bad and she doesn’t survive. Gina Harte and her team start to investigate - leading us into a world of homeless, runaways and addicts.
Running along side this is Miley, a poor runaway who is employed to look after Jackie, but is clearly being kept against her will.
3.5 stars - I wish Gina would get some action in her personal life and I wish her daughter would grow up and stop being such a bitch!
I will still eagerly anticipate book 4.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy of Her Pretty Bones, the third novel to feature DI Gina Harte, set in the Midlands.

When a young girl falls out the back of a van an investigation gets under way to find out who she is and what happened to her. A short while later the bones of another young girl are found buried in a shallow grave and Gina wonders if the two cases are linked.

I enjoyed Her Pretty Bones but not as much as its predecessors as it failed to hold my complete attention. I loved the premise of a damaged young woman being found when a van door opens but the rest of the novel doesn’t maintain that momentum. It is constantly switching points of view (at least four) so it’s hard to identify with any of the characters or get involved in their story. I found it easy to dip in and out of the novel and it has no siren call to lure me back at the expense of other activities. On the plus side the reason behind the crimes is unusual and not your everyday motive although I had difficulty in thinking it plausible.

Initially I really took to Gina Harte as a character but she hasn’t developed over the series. She’s still battling it out with her “princess” daughter, Hannah, and stressing over the murder of her abusive husband all those years ago. It’s getting tedious.

Her Pretty Bones is a solid but not outstanding read.

Third in the DI Gina Harte series. After a young girl falls from the back of a van, malnourished and abused, Gina's team tries to find out where she came from and if she had been kidnapped, etc., when a body is also discovered in the same area. I like this series except I cannot stand Gina's daughter Hannah. You are an adult and your mother has a career and does not need to be available to you 24/7. So annoying. 4 stars for the book, 1 star for Hannah.

To me this was slow moving with a lot of back tracking. The style wasn’t my cup of tea. It does end happily

I received an ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Gina Harte is detective on case of a young woman who falls out of the back of a van and she been badly treated over a long period of time. When another body of a young woman is found.

Gina and her team face the possibility that they have serial killer on there hands as Gina put aside of own problems we get to see different point of view of the story which kept me engage because I couldn't guess who
the killer is.

I did like how the author didn't down play homelessnes or drug addiction. I hope in next book her relationship with her daughter Hannah will be better because I don't think she grasp how much her father hurt her mother they really need to go therapist to talk this out.

This was well plotted and well written. Even though I didn't read the first two books of this series which I'm now going to get because I enjoy this book.

The third book in the Gina Harte series carries on the pace of the previous books.

When a girl falls out of a van into the path of a car, her words “help her” suggest there is another woman in danger. When days later, a body of a young woman with similar red hair is found in the woods, DI Harte and her team have to consider if there is a serial killer at large.

There is plenty going on in this book, not just the hunt for a killer but Gina is battling with her own demons, a relationship breakdown with her daughter and awkwardness of working with her boss and ex-lover.

This story did not hide or play down the hardships on homelessnes or drug addiction.

Gina seemed rather unsure and had a rather low opinion of herself in this story, I hope future books show her fighting back and growing in confidence.

Thank you to the author, Bookouture and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

Loved this book!! This is the second book in the series that I read (I still need to read the first book) and I absolutely love Detective Gina Harte. I love the cover of the book. This book had so many twists and turns and crazy, scary, creepy people. After reading the first chapter about the two little girls, I was hooked. There was something definitely wrong with the younger sister. I really hope Hannah and Gina can mend their relationship. I don't think she quite grasps how her dad treated her mom. Gina suffered so much abuse and still carries guilt over what happened. Detective Harte is definitely my favorite character in the book. She's not perfect, she's trying to make her life better after all the abuse and trauma from her last case, plus she has a cat.

A driver sees a young girl fall/jump out of the back doors of a white van. Detective Gina Harte and her officers are called to the scene. The girl's identity is unknown, she's malnourished with heavy evidence of drug use. While Detectives are trying to figure out the mystery of "van girl," another girl's body is found. At the same time, Miley is struggling to survive being locked in some building while trying to take care of Jackie.

I loved the story, characters and writing style. I felt horrible for Miley and Jackie. I kept wondering what Jackie did to be treated this way, especially since one of the bosses kept saying how much he/she loved her. I loved the ending and finally finding out who was behind everything.

I definitely recommend the book. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author, Carla Kovach, for a free electronic ARC of this novel.
