What do you do when the internship you have dreamed off is a flop? Try to make the best of it...or at lease that is what Bex does. When her job is turning out to be less than great Bex comes up with a plan to leave her mark by writing a script. Of course the show writer takes it and claims it as their own. Now Bex must fight to keep her LGBT character just as she wrote her. This was a fun read and I loved Bex as a character. I feel like the story was a bit pushed or I would have given it more than 3 stars.

What a wonderful book! Very timely and relevant in our society today. Characters that sound like real teenagers and deal with real problems. Set in a world of fandom, this story is about a character who is trying to be her true self while finding her way in a new place. The story deals with many different identity and sexuality topics, as well as friendship. It is a great story about self growth and speaking up for what you believe in. I read it it felt like no time passed because I was drawn right into the story. Great pop culture references and again find myself really enjoying Jen Wilde's writing style. Looking forward to more, thank you netgalley for this arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

This book was a ton of fun. I loved the characters and the setting. The romance was sweet and light, and the friendships depicted were also lovely. The horrible bad man was suitably horrible and bad, and the good people won in the end. The ending may have been unrealistic, but that's what makes this book a joyful read instead of a crushing reality.

Fiction about fanfiction is popular right now, and this book felt like fanfiction more than fiction. No offense meant to fanfiction, but many of the characters felt like stereotypes and I was waiting for more depth to show up.

I loved this book so much. What I thought was going to be a quick, fun read was in fact that but somehow also more.

Bex has spent her life determined to make it out of her small town and now she's finally done it. She's in LA, the land where dreams come true, And she's determined that her dreams of being a TV writer will do just that, even if it means starting with an unpaid internship at her favorite TV show.

But Bex soon learns that all that glitters is just fancy backdrops to cover up some ugly reality. Fortunately, with the little band of misfits that she has joined ranks with, she is capable of facing anything.

From delightful queer storylines to uphill battles with the patriarchy, this book takes you on quite a romp. And I enjoyed it thoroughly.

This book was received as an ARC from Macmillan Children's Publishing Group in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

When I first heard about this book I did not know what to expect but being a huge fan of Hollywood and what goes on behind the scenes, I was immediately drawn to this book. A lot of young patrons are curious in learning more about LGBTQ and wanting more stories reflecting on the matter and the relationship Bex and Jenna have with each other a lot of our readers can relate to. Also, in reflecting of the most common problem with new upcoming writers wanting to make it in the Hollywood industry, an idea gets pitched to the executives and then they like it way too much that instead of giving you credit they pass it off on their own. This happens a lot in showbiz and I love the determination Bex has in order to fight her battle and win over the producers and executives and hopefully the girl of her dreams.

This will be considered for our JFiction collection at our library and that is why we give this book 5 stars.
