Serving Death and the Reapers has been my life for centuries. I’ve always put my duty before everything, even my yearning for Death. But now, she’s fading – our foe is bent on destroying her and he will stop at nothing until he does. When I started reading I couldn't put it down. Donna Grant is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can't wait for the next book.

I received an ARC copy of this book for my honest review by St Martins press and NetGalley. This book is part of an existing series involving Death, her Reapers, and the Fae (also linked to her Dragon Kong’s series). While this was the first book in this series that I have read it was easy to fall along with the story line. This book follows Death and her head Reaper Cael. While their love is underlying throughout the story there was more action with battles and intrigue than heavy love scenes. But it was highly enjoyable and not difficult to follow as someone new to the series. There were struggles for both leads with some sad moments but overall their love was strong. I don’t want to give any spoilers but definitely a great book to read. 5 stars.

"Dark Alpha's Awakening" is the seventh novel in a series but is OK to read as a stand-alone (everything is explained well). This novel primarily follows Death herself, Erith, and one of her reapers, Cael. Erith is the goddess (or mistress) of war- she had fought for centuries before she realized that was not what she wanted to do anymore. She hid her sword and created reapers from Fae who were killed by those who betrayed them. The reapers, with whom she shares some of her power, mete out the punishments based on her judgments.

Now known as death, Erith must give up her hands-off approach. Bran, a reaper who violated her rules about love (which have since been revised), became unstable after she killed his lover (to whom he revealed the secrets of the reapers). Since then and after breaking out of the prison Erith created for him, Bran has made it his mission to get revenge on Erith and her reapers. He has something which is allowing him to siphon her powers and weaken her with a large battle looming. He has gathered dark fae for the upcoming war and shared with them the powers he has stolen from Erith.

Cael is a reaper who cares deeply for Erith. He knew her before he died, and he may have loved her even then. Now, he certainly does, but with the distance she keeps from them, he assumes he doesn't have a chance. Erith fell in love with Cael and he inspired her to start the reapers (although he was not the first), but she is used to denying her feelings and keeping her distance. That distance is harder to keep as she weakens and must begin to rely more on her reapers for the upcoming battles.

This book is heavy on the action/battles and fantasy with a nice cherry-on-top type romance between Cael and Erith. Although there are a couple of hot and heavy scenes, most of the novel centers around the battles and war upcoming. Overall, I really enjoyed it! It's a quick read and hard to put down. Getting to see Death's perspectives was really interesting, and I liked the dynamics between her and Cael, as well as her other reapers (non-romantic relationships). I have not read any of the previous books in this series, but I was able to follow the story easily (and now I definitely want to go back and read the others).

This is sure to be a hit with fans of fantasy/adventure stories with some romance. This fast-paced and action-packed novel also builds a nice love story.

Please note that I received an ARC from the publisher through netgalley. All opinions are my own.

Another great reaper story!
I was definitely waiting for this one.
Finally they did it and got together, so much wasted time, but oh did they make up for it.

This story was amazing! Death and Cael are off the charts hot together. I've been looking forward to this match for a long time, and this story did not disappoint. And what happened to Cael...OMG!

This is my 1st Reaper book.
I enjoyed the power struggle between Erith who is Death and Bran a fallen reaper who is able to siphon her power for himself. Will her love for Cael finally be her Achilles heel in her war with Bran. Death must bring all her reapers together and bring back the Mistress of War to confront Bran once and for all.
This is a series that would be well worth visiting again.
I was given an ARC of this book by Netgalley and the publisher St Martin’s Press in return for an honest review.

So freaking good. I'm in love with this series and everyone in it. The interlocking of each strand of the story and the cameos by characters from the world are really great and only add to the story line of each book rather than distracting from it. I'm still waiting impatiently to find out who Rhi's King is :)

The Reapers are back and about to take on their arch-enemy, Bran, in an epic battle!

Erith, Death herself, has been faltering. Bran has found some way to suck her life force and power. She struggles to continue in her duties but her faithful Reapers are bow about to give up on her. Especially not Cael.

Cael has been half in love with Erith for centuries. But as he serves her it would not be appropriate to go any further. But when he has to stay and protect Erith from further attempts to steal her power, they are pulled closer together, until neither of the can shy away from their feelings any longer.

The Reapers seek allies, some more likely than others. Xan has to play both sides, but is Seamus a double agent for Bran or will he perform the tasks given to him by Erith?

Great story, epic battles and passion to singe the pages. I loved when Erith finally takes up her dual mantle. And the new wardrobe...well she is like a modern day Xena! I was amazed by how the author managed to get Erith and Cael on a level playing field and I can't wait to see what happens next!

Outta this world! By far my favorite Reaper's novel! Grant has out done herself. Those that follow the Reapers will be amazed. New followers will fall on love...I can't wait to see what else she has in store for the Reaper world.

Finally! We get the war with Bran with Cael and Erith’s (Death) story. This has been building for a long time. Cael and Erith and rest of the reapers finally go after Bran. It was action through out and seeing our h/h admit their feelings for each other finally was worth the wait. I couldn’t put it down. This has to be the best one yet in the reapers series. I loved this one and can’t wait for the next chapter. There are still stories to be told and I hope Xaneth is next.
