This novel is just too delicious to put into words! If you, like me, have been waiting breathlessly for Death to finally give into her desires and admit her love and desire to the one whom she’s wanted from the moment she met him, then your prayers have been answered.

Cael, the powerful and fearless leader of the Reapers, has been in love with Erith, Death, since the first time he saw her on the battlefield. He has loved and desired her from afar, knowing that he could never hope to be with her. But as Death’s enemy Bran syphons all her energy and magic and is getting ready to take her place , time seems to be running out for both Cael and Erith as they not only fight to put an end to Bran, but to finally admit their love for one another.

Donna Grant has created a world of Reapers, Dark and Light Fae and other paranormal characters, not to mention Dragon Kings. A world full of passion, intrigue, friendship intertwined with the never ending war between good and evil. Donna Grant’s paranormal series are all connected to form an irresistible world to any lover of paranormal romance and I for one, can’t get enough of it. Can’t wait to find out what happens to Xaneth and who Rhi will finally end up with!!!

Finally! I’ve been waiting for the Erith/Bran showdown for-freaking-ever and it did not disappoint. This was everything I wanted it to be with action galore, lots of feels, and some sweet sexy times.

Erith’s story held some surprises that I in no way expected. It was heartbreaking and answered so many questions I had and some I didn’t know I wanted answers to. Her character arc was amazing, and she ended up being someone with one hell of a redemption story.

As for Cael, I don’t think there has ever been a more loyal, steadfast, and heroic hero. He laid it all on the line not only for his Reapers, but for Erith as well. He checked all my boxes. I’d wondered how he’d be alpha enough to be paired with death herself and not get overshadowed, but goodness me, he proved he was.

This was an action heavy book, with lots of intrigue and a little heartbreak. The romantic aspects took a backseat to the war between the Reapers and Bran but this didn’t bother me at all.

I thoroughly enjoyed Dark Alpha’s Awakening. It was one of those books that had me so engrossed; I picked it up every chance I could, even if it was only for a few moments. This was definitely worth the wait, well, except for that cliffhangerish ending. One war down and one just beginning. I can’t freaking wait to read what comes next!

Rating: 4.5 Sexy, Sweet, and Action packed Stars

I’ve been waiting for Erith’s story!! So happy to see her find her HEA. But then on the flip side that means that the final battle, with The Dragon Kings, is coming closer.

The ultimate battle unfolds…

This is the seventh book in the Reapers series.

Who is the woman known as Death? To the Reapers, she’s known as Erith, judge of the Fae race. But is she Fae? Was she the Mistress of War as suspected? We have been tantalized with tidbits of her story, here we finally learn where she came from, what she’s capable of, what drives her, and what she yearns for. A crossroads has been reached, the crescendo that’s been building reaches culmination.

A solution must be found to stop the drain of Erith’s essence if she is to destroy her enemy to save the very fabric of existence, the battle between Bran and Erith is one between good and evil in the universe. Erith, who has always been separate from other beings, doesn’t stand alone, those given life after death from betrayal stand with her, they won’t desert her no matter what she orders, she has gained more than their loyalty, the Reapers are a bonded family.

The Reaper Cael, leader of a group of justice bringers, has stood by Death, yearned for her though they could never be as she’s an entity so far removed from the Fae that he is. But where there is Death there is Fate and sometimes Fate has a hand in the final outcome of things, as Erith has grown so does Cael.

I loved this wonderful conclusion to the suspenseful plot that has played out over the previous books, answers were provided, loose ends tied up, ties to the Fae and the Dragon Kings made much clearer yet there is still more to come. Justice has yet to be claimed against one of the Fae, the evilest one.

The characters in this series have so much depth, lightness and darkness are not always exclusive within them and it’s those with redeeming qualities that you feel for the most. The scenes with Balladyn and Xaneth left me wishing for more for them than what they have. Can what was once good be again?

An advanced reading copy was obtained from the publisher via NetGalley.

Amazing read! This is my first book from reapers and it was just brilliant. I loved it. We get to know Death deep into her core and it is interesting to see how she develops through millennia. Cael (loved the name btw) great person, smart and so mentally strong. I can't image to hide love for so many years to yearn and to be every day with this person and not able to touch it so breathtakingly painful. In a way thank the universe that Bran did such a horrible thing because if not for him Erith and Cale will not confess to eachother their true feelings. I loved that the story was not predictable it was intense full of suspense and intense feelings. Another brilliant book from the series. Recommended!
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly

Absolutely amazing. You can read from the blurb that the book is about Cael- a reaper and Erith- death. The book gives so much insight into who Erith is and leads up to the epic battle. Twists I didn’t expect and turns that made me smile. This book is a FANTASTIC!! The ending, oh my the ending! Can I just put a bunch of hearts here? Basically you will love this book and will wish for more.

This story is supposed to be a stand alone, but it does belong to a series, with six stories prior to this one. Having not read any of the previous books, I did feel a bit lost in the beginning of the story. I also felt that I was missing a lot that I'm sure you can gather from previous books.
Having said that, once I got passed my confusion on a few things, I truly enjoyed reading this novel. It follows Death, who calls herself Erith, and her Reapors, specifically Cael. Her powers are being drained by a rogue Reapor and she needs to find him, stop him before he kills her and her family of Reapors.
This was an intriguing story with all kinds of magical beings. I liked the basic concept of the story and those involved. I think I will read the previous novels and that will help me to better understand this story. A very fun read.

I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased review.

The 48th book of the Dark World series...
I had to count it from Donna Grant's website.

I remember the time when I started reading the Dangerous Highlander (Dark Sword #1) that was September 25, 2014, after that I was hooked. The story was so compelling that it was hard not to be affected by the characters of each of the world. When the first Reaper book was sent to my email for an early review, I never thought that I would be so emotional.

I'm going to put a verse in this review...not to be religious or anything, but this fits this book to a tee:

'Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. '

1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

I finished the book last night, and I knew that I need something powerful to convey my feeling without the having spoilers. And this verse, fits.

It is rare to read a series with may spinoffs and have this cohesive flow. Jumping from book to another, mentioning the same characters, but with different words. It is hard. However, Donna Grant was able to bring fort a world where everything magical has a connection. Yes, The Kings, The Warriors, the Fea ~ both Dark and Light~, the Druids, and the Reapers...also the humans combined to become one of the greatest series that I have read.

I know a there will be more books...and i know that i will be looking forward to it.

More power and Blessing! I look forward to every book that you will write.

I like this book and enjoy reading about the characters and this is a serie with seven books. I can’t wait to read the next book.

I was given this arc to give an honest review from netgalley.

Enjoyed it but wasn't as good as previous books in the series. The hero Carl was ok but wasn't what I was hoping for when we got to his book. I loved Erith, otherwise known as Death. Great female character, spunky and full of life. The story wasn't all I'd hoped it would be but I still enjoyed it. I definitely want more of this series!

Dark vs. Light! Good vs. Evil! Who will win in this deadly game!!!

In Dark Alpha Awakening is the seventh paranormal romance novel by Donna Grant’s Reapers series. This will be my first book in this series, so I can’t say how this book rates with the other titles in this series. But I can say this book can be read as a standalone. Ms. Grant gave ample back story before she hit you with the other characters. Going into this book my expectations weren’t set too high, though I did find the synopsis interesting.

The plot focuses on a brotherhood of elite assassins who wages war on the Fae at Death’s orders. Now, the hunters have become the hunted. Even with their collective skills and magic, it might not be enough to deal with what may be coming; especially with Death’s powers being slowly drained.

I was amazed, how much I enjoyed the story. The story was fast-paced and stayed on par with the synopsis. The action is what drove this story, and not the love story between the two leads. The secondary characters played a prominent part in this paranormal; I most certainly will be picking up a copy of the other books in this series. I am dying to read their history. Overall, Dark Alpha Awakening is sure to please. I definitely recommend that you add this book to your collection.

Another spellbinding Reaper tale. Donna Grant has done it again and they keep getting better. Solid well-rounded characters. Truly loved it.

I was pretty stoked when I saw that there was going to be a book 7 in the Reapers series. I got even more excited when I started reading Dark Alpha’s Awakening. Why was I excited? Because it was Cael and Death (Erith’s) romance. The romance that I was waiting to read. It was also the romance that I didn’t think would happen. So, yes, I was thrilled.

I loved that I got to know more about Erith in this book. Her origins fascinated me. Her stint as Mistress of War and what started it fascinated me. As did why she stopped and formed the Reapers.

Erith brought it in this book. She was determined to find out what Bran was doing/using to drain her life essence. She was also going to end Bran, which was something that should have been done years ago. I loved it.

Cael was awesome in this book also. He was going to do whatever it took to save Erith from Bran. He was a great leader who was loyal to his Reapers. He was willing to do whatever it took to protect his Reapers, their women, and Erith. And oh boy, did he.

I liked how the author kept the sex scenes in Dark Alpha’s Awakening to a minimum. There were 2 or 3 scenes of Erith and Cael having sex. Those sex scenes were beyond hot. There was no build up of sexual tension in this book. But, Cael and Erith had 6 previous books to let it build and man, did it explode.

I enjoyed that the author had this world intertwined with The Dark Kings world. I didn’t quite catch on that they were in the same universe until the last Dark King book, Dragonfire. There was a certain point where Eoghan and Thea were mentioned. At that point, I was like “They are connected, WTH.”. That showed up even more so in this book. Bran, Balladyn, Rhi, Usaeil, and Xaneth were all featured in this book.

What surprised me the most about this book was the author was not afraid to let people die in this book. There were a couple of deaths that took me by surprise. One I was expecting but the other, well it blindsided me. That made me wonder who was going to be the next one to get killed. I have a good idea who but I am going to have to wait to see what happens in the next book.

I am also waiting to see if Erith takes the advice that was given to her and involve the Dragon Kings in the war that is going to happen. Guess I am going to need to keep reading the books to find out.

The end of the book was interesting. While some plotlines were tied up there were other ones that were left open. New plotlines were introduced near the end of the book. I am interested to see where the plotline with Xaneth is going to go. From what was written at the end of the book, it doesn’t look good.

I would give Dark Alpha’s Awakening an Adult rating. There is explicit sex. There is language. There is explicit violence. There are triggers. They are the death of a loved one and murder. I would recommend that no one under the age of 21 read this book.

I would reread Dark Alpha’s Awakening. I would also recommend this book to family and friends.

I would like to thank the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review Dark Alpha’s Awakening.

All opinions stated in this review of Dark Alpha’s Awakening are mine.

Holy cow, this book was soooo, extremely page turning. I had mixed feelings about Death, but she so pulled her girl panties up and won the day.. We have all been looking forward to this love match for quite sometime now.. loved the chemistry..

Dark Alpha's Awakening by Donna Grant is Book 7 of the Reaper Series. This book is part of a series and it is highly recommended you read these in order.

This is Cael and Erith (Death’s) story. To.Die.For! I have been waiting for this one and I wasn’t at all disappointed. I love finally getting Death’s back story, as well as getting to the highly anticipated battle between Death and Bran...oooohhhh yea it’s on like Donkey Kong...go time peeps!

As usual, Ms. Grant has brought her A-game...she really outdid herself with this one.

Please note that an ARC was generously provided in exchange for an honest review of which this is both honest and completely voluntary.

This was a great book, the story of Death and Cael. I have read the series from the start and it is nice to see how the characters develop and how Death starts understanding her Reapers. I loved everything about this book. I wonder if this will be the end of the Reaper series or if there is more to come.
Donna Grant knows how to tell a story as well as how to create great characters.

I received this e-book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.

This story centered on Death and Cael. For thousands of years they have had feelings for one another but could never act on them. Now, as Death's power is being syphoned away by Bran, she doesn't want any of the Reapers to see her, especially Cael. But that is about to change...

In order to save Death, the Reapers must discover how Bran is syphoning her power and then they must defeat him. Will they find out how Bran is stealing power? And will they defeat him? And most importantly, will Death and Cael be able to have the freedom to love?

I absolutely loved this story!! I have read most of this series, and this story was just "explosive"! All books can be read as standalone stories. There was so much action going on that just kept me rivetted to the book. We find out some interesting facts about Death's past and her fears for the future....

The pace of the story is good and as always I love Ms. Grants writing. I always look forward to a story by this author.

This was SO good!  I have been waiting for Cael and Erith's story almost as long as I have been waiting for Rhi's story.  The final battle against Bran happens and hints are dropped about Rhi's coming battle with the Light Queen, and Ballidyn starts to get hints (hopefully) that he will get his own story and a happy ever after (Not with Rhi!). So good, so passionate, so exciting. Just perfect!!!! You will not be disappointed with how this story plays out.

The Reaper novel I have been most looking forward to is Dark Alpha's Awakening. Cael and Erith's romance has been building over the past six books of the series. I appreciate a gradual romance. Stolen moments, whispered desires, sly glances, it is all very intense this way. The payoff, in the end, is better for it.

Erith is a badass chick, one of the best heroines in Donna Grant's world. Her origin story was quite interesting and makes sense with what has been revealed of her so far. Erith fears losing control of her power, which keeps her from forming a deep bond with Cael and the rest of the Reapers. She keeps herself at a distance, hoping the lack of any temptation will keep her desire for violence at bay. When outside conflicts begin to weigh on the group, realization Erith has wasted too much time on a fear of intimacy becomes abundantly clear. Erith opening herself up in Dark Alpha's Awakening is something I have been eager to see. It is obvious Erith has been lonely and that Cael was the object of her desire. Seeing them together was deeply gratifying.

Cael has always been my favorite Reaper. Calm and intelligent, Cael leads the Reapers efficiently. Watching members of his team fall in love and mate was hard on him. Convinced he would never have the chance he craved, Cael took solace that doing his job at least allowed him to spend time with Erith. When Erith began to retreat inside her domain, not even seeing Cael, he snaps and demands some answers from Erith. Erith's departure leading to Cael losing self-control is just what the two need to face their desire for each other. And it is well worth the wait.

Outside of the romance is the antagonist Bran. Death and the Reapers are hunting him, after his escape from the prison realm Erith placed him in. The conflict reaches a pinnacle here, one that wraps up some rather significant events. Do not miss this book.

Random spoilery thoughts:

Given the similarities between Erith and Rhi, I wonder if a connection exists on a biological level. But, that is pure speculation on my part. I want Balladyn to, somehow, not be the epitome of evil. It would be great if he could get redemption, which I believe he is already on his way to obtaining. Cael is now just as badass as Erith. He goes through quite the transformation, one that was pretty fricken cool. I was a bit worried about him through quite a bit of this story. Some genuine tension is present in this novel. I cannot wait for Rhi to kick the ever loving crap out of Usaeil.

Dark Alpha's Awakening by Donna Grant was given to me by Saint Martin's Press, through NetGalley, for my honest opinion.
