[TW: assault, rape mentions]

Having finished this, I now realized just how many of my favourite tropes are in this book: age gap (Noah is 38, Poppy is 26), neighbours/girl-next-door, found family...

and Noah's also the sheriff *checks off Men-in-Uniform*

Anyway, the story is fast-paced and the romance is cute, though we pretty much knew from the get-go who the baddie was (it really wasn't hard to guess lol). And I love the Pamela Clare mention! #friendshipgoals

Jase and Molly's book is gonna SLAY me.

I've just finished this suspenseful romance by Kaylea Cross and rather enjoyed it.

I picked it up based on the blurb - I love a good small town setting, and who doesn't find a dutiful, hardworking sheriff even more enticing than your regular, run-of-the-mill red-hot neighbour? What kept me reading was the sweet sweet build up between main characters Poppy and Noah, and the threads of sinister suspense woven into the story.

I have to confess, I did guess the ending, but I tend to do that a fair bit. I always like to theorise when I'm halfway through a book so invariably I'm going to guess correctly sometimes, aren't I? It didn't lessen my enjoyment, however, and those final scenes were still tense and exciting.

If I did have to nit-pick at something, It would be that I'd rather the romance had had a bit more time to develop before the finale. It had only just begun, to quote The Carpenters, and so when the "I love yous" came, I wasn't quite there with them.

I particularly enjoyed Poppy's character, she was a sweetheart, if a little timid, but so resilient and hardworking. You've got to admire that in a girl!

I haven't read any of the rest of this series but the subplots that were included in this story were excellent and I'll definitely pick up the next one if I spot it on the shelf.

★★★1/2

Readers if you haven't read the first one no big deal this can be read as a stand a lone novel. However all I can say is if at the end of this book you don't want to move to Crimson Point than what is wrong with you.

Kaylea Cross has the ability to bring to life a small town on the Oregon Coast that will have readers falling in love with the location, town as well as the characters that are threaded though the story.

The town becomes a characters in its own right.

While the story has your typical romantic suspense, sexual tension and evil. The story isn't just about love but loyalty, overcoming the past, not allowing someone else to control who you are and who you want to become. Bullies are bullies some figure out what they have done and apologize for it. Other will forever be a bully. Poppy is strong enough to overcome the Bullies of her past and fight for the future she wants.

Readers will fall head over heels with Poppy.

Buried Lies has an amzing message that readers will find heart warming.

Kaylea Cross you have out down yourself once again. This is a series I can't miss.

Thank you to Netgalley and the author for a copy of Kaylea Cross Buried Lies.

While this is the second book in the series, I was easily able to read this as a stand alone. However, I absolutely adored the characters in this book and now I want to go back and read the first book! Kaylea Cross has written a terrific novel with the perfect balance of romance and some rather intense suspense. And while I had my suspicions on who was the bad guy, I ended up being completely wrong. Never, saw that one coming but then either did the sheriff! There was more to this story than the growing romance between Noah and Poppy, this book was also setting the stage for the next book featuring Molly. All in all a terrific read that I had difficulty putting down.

4.5 stars! I really enjoyed Poppy and Noah and thought they were a great fit. They had a brief scene together in book 1, but quite frankly it didn't drab my interest. However, they really shined here. I am also a fan of law enforcement heroes, and Noah is great. Poppy is such a bright character even though she has been through a lot in her life. Their romance was endearing. The killer's identity definitely surprised me! Poppy goes through a lot at the end, and I did hope that there would have been a bit more focus on that. But overall a very enjoyable story!

Buried Lies by Kaylea Cross is book Two in the Crimson Point series. This is the story of Sheriff Noah Buchanan and Poppy Larsen. I haven't yet read the previous book so for me this was a standalone book.
Poppy has just moved to Crimson Point to start a new life after her mother's death and to get away from the Town Bullies. Poppy finds she is attracted to her neighbor Noah but tries to stay clear of it after what she lived through in her home town. But their budding friendship starts heading toward a relationship that she can't stop. Noah finds Poppy hard to resist and her not being like the other women who chase him makes her all the more desirable. But this book does have a killer on the loose that starts looking at Poppy.

Second book in the instalment and I must say that I loved it! It is awesome story with even more awesome characters! You simply have to love Poppy and Noah...this book is filled with romantic suspense but there is also a hearbreaking moments that I don't want to reveal just to avoid spoilers for the readers. I'm looking forward of reading the next books in this instalment. Well Done Kaylea Cross!

Buried Lies is an intriguing and fast-paced second book in the Crimson Point series by Kaylea Cross, that tells the story of small town sheriff Noah and his sweet neighbour Poppy. The relationship between this incredible couple with very different backgrounds and an undeniable attraction that only burns stronger as each day passes, make for entertaining reading.
I also loved the chilling start to the story and the element of mystery and suspense that drew me in from page one. I’m looking forward to more from Ms Cross and the Crimson Point series.

Freed from her familial obligations in small-town South Dakota, Poppy decides she needs a fresh start to rebuild herself on the Oregon Coast. I enjoyed watching Poppy come into her own woman, pushing away her insecurities and befriending the locals by being true to herself. As I was reading, I felt like she was the kind of person that I would want to be friends with! Noah is written to be a dream-come-true, perfect fit for Poppy. I loved that he respected her boundaries but I felt like his character came up a little flat, especially when compared to Poppy and her soul-searching journey.

There was so much good in this story that I have found that I am being a bit greedy when I hashed out my critiques. Ultimately it boils down to enjoying it but I want more. The pace of the story was almost too fast. We were whisked past some points that could have added some more substance to the characters. Poppy could have benefited from a few flashbacks would have helped me visualize the torture she went through at the hands of those bullies in South Dakota. I want to be shown, not told, why she has this fear of the dark/claustrophobia and mistrust in men. The serial killer angle fell by the wayside. It felt like the Jase, Carter, Molly triangle took up the spotlight that should have belonged to our creepy killer. While interesting, and a clever way to set up for a future book, I felt like it distracted me from Poppy and Noah’s story. I was left wondering about their plot arc when I should have been focused on Poppy and Noah.

I loved the insight into the bad guy and his movements. I wished there had been more chapter excerpts to give us more information to increase the tension. As it was, my heart was beating quickly during his scenes and I was thoroughly creeped out by the flower choices.

As I said, I really enjoyed reading this book but it was a little short. Coming in at 228 pages, it could easily have been extended by another hundred pages or so to flesh out some of the areas to make it a truly great book. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for Aiden’s story in particular.

An action-packed romantic suspense from beginning to end. Poppy Larsen is new to Crimson Point and is opening the “Whale’s Tale”, a bookstore & tea room. In addition, she is working on restoring the home she has purchased…next door to the town sheriff’s home. Noah Buchanan is Sheriff of Crimson Point and intrigued by his new neighbor. She is lovely and a hard worker and he is attracted to her love of life and joy. Young women have gone missing near Crimson Point and it is feared that a serial killer has invaded their town. Is the killer using Crimson Point to select his victims or is he someone even closer? A threat to Poppy will come through social media from her past. Beginning with her childhood, she was a victim of bullying and looked on this move as a fresh start. Will false allegations from her past follow her? Will she be able to remain in Crimson Point or must she leave her home and new-found friends? A wonderful and heart racing mystery as Noah works to remove the evil from town and keep Poppy safe. A must-read book two of the series as we catch up on Beckett and Sierra (from book one). I can’t wait for “Shattered Lies” book three and more about Molly. Poppy moves to Crimson Point to start over. She buys a little house and opens a bakery/bookstore. She doesn’t trust men and is afraid to trust anyone. Noah, her neighbor and sheriff, slowly creeps past her defenses. Noah is fascinated by her because she’s the only woman to never throw herself at his feet. She’s shy and skittish but he slowly falls for her. When Poppy goes missing, Noah will do whatever it takes to find her.
Excellent story. Action, suspense and romance. This book will have you jumping at every noise and on the edge of your seat. Will make you want to go right in the book and protect Poppy yourself.

Poppy relocated to Crimson Point for a fresh start. Getting settled into her new home and focusing on her business are her main concerns and dating, well that point is way down the list. However, living next door to a sexy sheriff has Poppy reconsidering her no dating stance. Noah is intensely curious about his new neighbor, which is a surprise since he hasn’t been interested in anyone serious since his fiancée dumped him years ago. Yet there’s something different about Poppy...

After a chilling intro, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but Cross delivered a strong romantic story with a twisted thread of suspense! The romance between Poppy and Noah was slow yet hot! Talk about a great build up in attraction! I also liked the foundations Noah built to reassure Poppy and settle her insecurities. I really enjoyed the secondary cast and their roles in encouraging Poppy to open up and become comfortable, while at the same time allowing Poppy to show her newfound confidence and generosity. On their own, each character has their own story brewing in the background with Sierra and Beckett’s already out and I’m hoping at least two more are coming soon!

I loved Noah and Poppy’s romance while my heart broke for Molly’s situation. And the sexy Scot coming to help Beckett totally stole my heart with his few featured pages! And the suspense! Even though I guessed the villain early on, the end result was still goosebump creepy! Book two in the Crimson Point series, Buried Lies can easily be read as a stand alone.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Wow, just wow. I gotta tell you, I didn't see that coming. Poppy might be new to town, but she fits in like she was born there. Noah is so calm and reassuring. I loved this about him. A definite must read, I will bring telling all of my friends.

BURIED LIES is the second book in the new 'Crimson Point' series by Kaylea Cross. The author is moving a bit away from her military stories anti full RS. This new series centers around a group of childhood friends whose friendship has continued into adulthood. This second book revolves around Sheriff Noah Buchanan and his new neighbor, Poppy Larsen. Poppy has moved to Crimson Point to start a new business, and a new chapter in her life; away from the sorrows and heartaches of her past. She is very cautious and holds her heart close to her for fear of getting hurt once again.

Noah was wonderful with her and helps her feel comfortable not only with him but also with his friends, as they include her in their circle.
But evil surrounds the town and someone is out to kidnap her. A big surprise as to who the serial killer.

Nice read; I was pleasantly surprised by the authors slight change in genre.
