Smitten by the Brit by Melonie Johnson, is the second book in the Something In Love Series. The story follows Theo and Bonnie, who are introduced in Getting Hot With The Scot. These two meet months prior to where the book begins, and they both ignore the physical attraction to one another because Bonnie is engaged to her high school sweetheart. Months pass and Bonnie is now a single woman, and runs into Theo again. And this is where it gets hot and heavy! Neither are ready for a relationship with being burned in the past, but they know there is something special between them. Which embarks a friends with benefits . . .

Smitten by the Brit was an explosive page turner with a romance that enthralled me right from the start.

Fun, witty, romance. We are reunited with characters from Getting Hot with the Scot. Bonnie and Theo are good together. A bit spicy in parts.

Smitten by the Brit (Sometimes in Love #2) by Melonie Johnson
I received this book from Netgalley for an honest review.
OH THEO!!! YES!! I was so ready for you after the first book!! He is totally my Mr. Darcy with his manners and polite charm….sigh right ladies!!!
Bonnie was a great character who has been through some hard times. When your DB fiancée won’t marry you and cheats on you instead…yeah broken hearted was Bonnie. She won’t let it stop her. We see her and Theo giving eyes and flirting like crazy in book 1. I was so excited to see them as the next book because I need these people to get together already!! Theo also has his own issues because he needs to marry a certain kind of woman to please the family. Being a Duke does have its perks and downfalls!!
This book was amazing!! I enjoyed the first book and getting to know all the characters but this book because we KNEW everything it seemed to flow smoother. Theo and Bonnie are such a great couple and I will definitely see myself rereading because their story was full of humor and sweetness.

Bonnie and Theo will make your heart sing! What a wonderful story. The writing is fantastic, filled with humor and wit, fun and romance. The characters are wonderful; what a great group of friends. I enjoyed watching Bonnie and Theo’s relationship grow, as well as their self-growth. They each have their own things to work through and I enjoyed their journey. This story is sweet and charming and will leave your heart feeling oh so happy.

If you read Getting Hot With the Scot, you could see Theo and Bonnie's romance coming long before they were aware of it. Bonnie is engaged to her childhood sweetheart, so she simply ignores those pitter pats of her heart when Theo is around. And Theo is a duke who is expected to marry a wealthy girl of proper standing, so he doesn’t act on his attraction when he first meets Bonnie. But circumstances once again put Bonnie and Theo in close proximity, and thus begins a courtship that the Bard, himself, could have written for his next romantic comedy.

This author has a gift for storytelling and a mastery of words that will captivate even the most fickle romance reader. With down-to-earth, endearing characters whose personality jumps off the page and an engaging storyline perfectly balanced with humor, heat and heart, the reader is effortlessly inserted into the story. You’ll love every minute of Theo and Bonnie’s journey, fall in love with them from the start, and be cheering them through to the end. Don’t miss this sweet, steamy, humorous, heartfelt read!

I thought this was rather like an adult fairytale with all the goodness +. Loved Theo, no matter what persona he was wearing. When his true self emerged he was magnificent. Bonnie, now her character took some getting used to as I couldn't relate her innocence and her having been engaged, just my thoughts, but her and Theo together were quite entertaining. This romance had a good bit of levity and teasing heat throughout this romantic journey.
The characters from "Getting Hot With A Scot" made appearances in this 2nd book of the series, and totally enjoyed for Cassie and Logan's wedding, but this is still a stand alone.
The phrase I really liked "You look good wearing my future" just made me do a huge happy sigh.
I received an ARC from Netgalley / St Martin's Press. All thoughts and opinions are my own and voluntarily given.

Another great addition to this series. After reading Cassie & Logan's story, I was super excited to see where this series would go next. And let me tell you, I wasn't disappointed. Smitten by the Brit is the second book in the Sometimes in Love Series and it follows the story of Theo and Bonnie. From the moment I dove into Bonnie's story, I was hooked. I knew from the previous book in this series that Theo & Bonnie had some serious chemistry, but that nothing came of it due to her engagement. So, when Bonnie's world gets turned upside down and Theo is once again brought into the picture, I knew all bets would be off. Bonnie & Theo's chemistry burns brighter than ever and is impossible to ignore. Bonnie has had her heart broken once before, but is taking a leap with Theo. Will Bonnie be able to give her heart to Theo or will the revelation of Theo's secret destroy everything before it has a chance to begin?? There's only one way to find out....I absolutely adored Smitten by the Brit. It was so much fun being in this world again. I loved catching up with Cassie and Logan. I loved getting to know Bonnie & Theo more. Their story captivated me and had me devouring all the words. I loved seeing the characters grow and take chances they otherwise would have never taken. I enjoyed the chemistry that just oozed between Bonnie & Theo. I loved their friendship and I loved seeing them steam up the pages together.Smitten by the Brit was a lot of fun to read. I found the story-line to be entertaining and thought it flowed really well. The characters were real and flawed with relateable hangups and frustrations. I loved the humor, chemistry and the friendships. This is the kind of story that you will be able to devour in a single sitting and that leave you with a smile on your face.Smitten by the Brit hit all the marks for me and I look forward to seeing where this series will take us next.

It's my first time reading this author, and I was thrilled to be finally read something by her, as I'm a big fan of books with British characters. Well, I was happy I indulged in this book because I found the characters relatable.

The main protagonist is Bonnie, an American English teacher who loves teaching and tea, books, and many things connected to literature and writing. At the beginning of the book she discovers her boyfriend has a lover and they break up. This is devastating, of course, but luckily for Bonnie there's a certain Brit that is in town coincidentially when all this happens. Theo is a gentleman who is in Chicago for business. He and Bonnie have already met each other in the previous book, I gather from the info Bonnie provides (the POV is in 3rd person). Apparently they were already allured by the other from there, and now that Bonnie is finally single, Theo could make a move. But he doesn't.

Theo comes from royalty although he isn't a real royal, so he knows how to treat women and be kind to them. I liked that every time he was around Bonnie, he let her know that whatever he proposed her to do, she would be OK with it and choose if she wanted it to happen or not. He respected her decision and didn't impose anything on her, which is a change, since many male book protagonists nowadays tend to do as they please with female heroines. Theo was too respectful towards Bonnie and I liked that she was happy about this but that she also tells him that it's OK if he's not always a "gentleman" and helps her getting out of cars and things like that.

This book was in 3rd person. While I sometimes hate 3rd person POV, it suited the book because it allowed the writer not to lose herself in petty details that usually go inside the characters' minds when the POV is in 1st person. The characters were likeable and relatable, and not annoying at all. The pace wasn't fast and it made it seem things more realistic, which I appreciate because I don't like when the characters jump on each other too soon or fall in love too quickly.

I'll surely read this author in the future, because I like her style and characters.

“Smitten by the Brit” by Melonie Johnson is the second book in the Sometimes in Love Series and the first book I have read by this author and will not be the last. Even though this is book two in the series it can easily be read as a standalone. I do suggest reading the first book so you have the background. I will be reading the first book. I read it in one day. I just didn’t want to put it down. It is a quick, funny and sexy read. I am looking forward to reading more in this series.

This was a fun read, the characters are likable and relatable. I loved reading about Theo & Bonnie. I didn’t realize this was book 2 but I have plans to go back and read the first book. Overall I enjoyed this read and recommend it to anyone who needs a nice, quick read.

The second book in Melonie Johnson’s Sometime in Love series, reintroduces readers to Bonnie and Theo from book one, who we briefly met and knew there was a level of attraction there. And while I did enjoy Smitten by The Brit, I have to admit that Theo just didn’t make me swoon the way Logan did in book one. Don’t get me wrong, Theo is a nice enough bloke; he just didn’t have the same breathless appeal. As a follow up to Getting Hot for the Scot, this is most definitely a good read, and I’m sure readers will be equally enticed to keep watch for book three, and what fabulous adventures are yet to come.

And I'm done. How do i put it...i too me awhile to read it because i had too much to do and was reading it on my Kindle ~Drake~ i had to read it at my Kindle app to finish it. And each time i open the book it made me smile. Its one of those stories that you can pick up and smile when every page is turned.

I so love His Grace. I mean who wouldn't? And Bonnie? I wanna hug her, but she held on tight. And that makes her one of the strongest woman that i know.

The boom opens to being responsible, but not forgetting that you should put yourself and never forget your happiness. It may take a while to be in that place, but with the right person, everything will fall into place.

Another good book from @MelonieJohnson. Looking forward to Sadie's and Bo's book!

Theo and Bonnie have met previously and there were sparks flying between them. Bonnie being engaged at the time ignored those sparks.

When Bonnie catches her fiancé in the act, she breaks off the engagement.

Theo is in America to attend a social function and when he meets Bonnie, the sparks are still there. They flirt but really don't act on those feelings as Bonnie is on the rebound and Theo has family obligations. Obligations that will not be overlooked by his mother. Can they overcome these barriers to find their happily ever after?

Theo is a gentleman and a very kind and considerate one at that. Bonnie believes in her literature and in some ways has mapped her life as a novel. Only she soon finds out that real life can be plagued with lies and deceit. It's a love story that has a little bit of everything. The friendship between the girls are quite real. The romance is full of doubts and there are so many obstacles in the way, but the ending is magnificent

THE GOOD
— When I requested this ARC, I had no idea this was a companion novel. I went into it thinking it was a standalone. But it was written in a way that I don’t feel like I lost much. Every previous interaction between Bonnie and Theo, the main characters, was told by their perspective, so you have some idea of what happened. I’m still interested in reading them, which will probably happen when the previous book comes out.

— The writing was some of the best I read in romance. It wasn’t overly repetitive, it kept me hooked to the story and, most importantly, it didn’t make me cringe in the fluffy and steamy moments.

— One thing I didn’t expect was the healthy portrayal of female friendship. Bonnie’s friends were always there for each other, but it also showed that, yes, you can have negative feelings like jealousy towards your friends. It is normal and understandable, but it’s how you act on them that shows who you are.

—Now, the romance. Bonnie and Theo were adorable. And hot. And so damn angsty! From the get-go, you see how snarky they are with each other and the sexual tension, uff! Then their lives start intertwining, other people and responsibilities get in the middle, and it is just a delightful ride.

— All the references to Jane Austen warmed my heart.

THE MEEEH
— In the beginning, it seemed like what Bonnie and Theo felt for each other was too rooted in lust, and not on how they liked each other as individuals. However, as the story progresses, that dissipates, and I was truly sold on them together.

— Around the last quarter of the book, a lot of the situations felt like clichêd. It hit all my favorite beats though.

— There’s this specific scene where Theo’s behavior could be considered stalkerish. However, I think it was a minor thing and also justified, but I can see some people having problems with it.

— Lastly, this isn’t exactly bad, but damn, I wish the angst towards the last quarter of the book started earlier.

I went into this book with zero expectations, and it blew me away. I’m a sucker for love stories, and this one filled all my needs. I’m ready to read some horror now.
I recommend this book to anyone that likes contemporary romance, polite British guys and classic English literature.

Bonnie Blythe is engaged, but she is waiting patiently for her fiance to set a wedding date. She is on a European girls trip when she meets Theo (through Logan and Cassie - the first book in this series.) While there was a definite attraction, she doesn't act on it because she is so not that girl.

After a failed engagement, Bonnie finds herself in England for a summer, and as luck may have it, close to Theo. They agree to a friends-with-benefits relationship, and their feelings quickly develop to much more than friends. Of course there's a little drama and misunderstanding (it would be boring without this.)

While I really liked Bonnie, I loved Theo's character so much. Definite must-read.

This was SO good! This was such a sweet, romantic, funny and sexy love story and I loved every second of it. I love Bonnie and Theo so much and Theo especially is just SO swoony. All the heart eyes. I really loved how the author intertwined Bonnie's love for English literature and romance throughout this book, I really think that made it extra special. Highly recommend! Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC.
