This is Book #2 of the series (I'll have to go back and pick up book #1) I positively adored Bonnie and Theo! Theo is a brilliant example of chivalry. This is a fast paced steamy, sexy feel-good book I highly recommend everyone giving it a gander. I didn't realize it was part of a series so I absolutely plan on reading book one. I feel that although part of a series this book could easily stand on its own. I proudly award 4.5 stars to Smitten by a Brit (book #2 of the Sometimes in Love series).

Smitten by the Brit, the second novel in the Sometimes in Love series by Melonie Johnson is every bit as wonderful as the first, Getting Hot with the Scot. Bonnie Blythe fondly remember Theo Wharton from her trip to England the previous summer with her friends. However, she was happily engaged and although she was attracted to him, he was strictly off limits. Back stateside, circumstances drastically altered when she found her fiance in a compromising position. When Theo walked back into her life in Chicago, the newly single Bonnie was unsure of her feelings...was this a rebound thing? Could it be more? Theo had his own issues to deal with, being a member of the British aristocracy and needing a wealthy wife to help bolster the family coffers.

Smitten by the Brit is a fun read and won't leave you disappointed! A perfect combination of love, lust and pleasure. Thank you to the author, NetgGalley and St. Martin's Press for an ARC of this novel for an honest review. Looking forward to book 3 in the series!

Melonie Johnson does a fabulous job of intertwining her “Sometimes in Love” series novels together. The main characters are complex and well written. The reader cannot help but get lost in the magic of Scotland, the excitement of a wedding, and the fun of an international romance. A solid and enjoyable read!

Really enjoyed this one so much more than the first. This is the second in the Sometimes in Love series by Melonie Johnson. What did I love about this? The heroine was sassy and smart though maybe a bit naive about her fiance, or rather ex. And so glad she took the bull by the horns so to speak with Theo, our perfect Duke.

The chemistry is perfect and the story moves at a great pace. I always wanted to turn the pages to find out how these two would end of having their HEA. And of course, to get to the HEA is not without difficulty - him being a duke and needing to marry for money. Her being on the opposite spectrum of royalty and aristocracy. Also, she's American. But Bonnie Blythe is smart, real, and loveable. And she's a professor of literature. How cool is that.

I love how we have a realistic solution to the Duke's financial problems. Which then leads to our inevitable HEA. I'm ready for the next in the series and so happy this one exceeded my expectations and that I took a chance on it.

I wish I could have given 'Smitten by the Brit' more stars, because it is a delightful story. The problem was with the graphic sexual language and situations that detracted from the overall appeal. 'Smitten by the Brit' is the first book I have read by this author and I understand it was the second in her Sometimes in Love series. Melonie Johnson did a great job with her Shakespeare, Austen and Monty Python quotes interspersed in dialogue. The characters were likeable, there was humor and some tension as to outcome, but just cringe worthy in too many ways. I'd love to read a truly 'sweet' version.

I LOVED this book. I loved this book even more than the first. From Theos charm and politeness to Bonnie’s innocence and relatability. It was perfect from start to finish. I was sad for it to end. I can’t wait to see what the third book has in store!

I did not read the first book in this series but I would like to now. Bonnie and Theo were such an enjoyable couple. I think everyone needs a Theo in their life! This was a great romance and I highly recommend it. Thanks to St. Martin’s Press and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

This was a cute book...It's a good beach read--something relaxing that you can open when you need a pick-me-up--but I wasn't wowed by it. Maybe it's a personal preference, but I generally like to read romances with a little more snap to the dialogue. The hero and heroine were cute together, but something was missing, and I think it was in the banter, maybe? There wasn't enough push and pull for me. Don't get me wrong, it was very sweet, but I guess I much prefer romances where there's a little bit more conflict. (I'm also over the "British-isms" and Scottish buzz words that were used all the time. "Love," "lass," etc. We don't need to be reminded all the time of their nationality, IMO.)

As the second book in this series, it doesn't disappoint. Melanie has just the right amount of sexiness, turmoil and feel goods in this story. I can't wait for the next one.

I hate books that romanticize cheating. I’m so glad this isn’t that book! The long term boyfriend proposes, he cheats, he gets the boot. Girl swears off love once and for all, girl meets new guy, they fall in love. This is a typical fluffy romance. I’ve read the same story a dozen times but it is cute and light. I enjoyed it.

Cute story! Two things I knew were going to happen....Gabe was going to get the boot and the Theo would save the family! I wasn't disappointed. As is true of real life, ugly raised its head a few times. Theo's sister saved the day not once, but three times! And another HEA.....

Smitten By The Brit is a fabulous contemporary romance by Melonie Johnson. Ms. Johnson has once more impressed me with her story-telling abilities with this well-written book. Usually my favorite part of any book is the characters and this cast of characters is outstanding, but I totally love the humor in this book. Bonnie is back to teaching college classes after her European summer vacation. When she returns home from a party to find her fiance boinking another woman on her grandmother's quilt the romance takes a dive off a very steep cliff. Theo is in the US to escort a friend to an event and visit with his best friend. Theo and Bonnie's story is loaded with drama, humor, sexy bits and is a fun read. I enjoyed this book from cover to cover and look forward to reading more from Melonie Johnson in the future. Smitten By The Brit is book 2 of the Sometimes In Love Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

Oh man I wish there had been more happen to the cheating butthead, but this was a super cute book. Fun and exciting at times, it was very easy to fall into the story and relate to the characters.

Bonnie Blythe is back at home after spending time in Europe with her best friends. Bonnie has been engaged to her lifelong boyfriend for a few years and, is now expecting him to pick a date for the wedding until she walks in on him in bed with someone else.
Bonnie then decides that she is going to take a temporary teaching position at a prestigious college in England. Maybe, she might get to see Theo again. The best friend of the man that her best friend is marrying this summer.
When Bonnie and Theo reconnect, the intense heat between them has, apparently, gotten stronger, not weaker. This is something Bonnie is not happy about. She might consider a friends with benefits situation but, she's not sure what Theo wants-well--besides her!
This was a wonderfully fun romp that was just as good as the first book in this series. I can't wait until the next book comes out!

If you enjoyed Enjoyed Getting Hot With the Scot, Melonie Johnson's first book in her Sometimes in Love series, you certainly won't be disappointed with Smitten by the Brit. This novel takes off right as the first one ends, but focuses on the romance between Bonnie and Theo. While it can certainly be read as a standalone, I believe that this story is enhanced by having read the first book. Like the first book, I do wish that Johnson put more emphasis on the friendships between the girls and character development, but she does do a wonderful job telling a romance (with quite a few dirty parts).

Smitten by the brit is amazing. Its funny, romantic and has amazing Shakespeare and Jane Austen quotes.

Bonnie has a plan, be made of honor at her best friends wedding and set a date for her own wedding, Seems simple yes! However her life comes crashing down when she walks in on her fiancé cheating on her. Bonnie has new decisions and plans to make. Than along comes Theo, Bonnie's best friends fiancé's best friend. (aka the best man). Theo is this handsome brit with amazing dimples that Bonnie can't get enough of. The chemistry between these two are amazing.
Overall, this is a sweet book. Also I would like to say from an Irish perspective, Thank you!!! You would not believe how many authors mix up English culture and the Irish culture! Melonie Johnson, you got it right! Thank you.

Sexy and funny, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. We first met Bonnie and Theo in book one (Hot for the Scot), and this one allows us to learn their story. Bonnie is a literature professor who loves Shakespeare and Austin and has always dreamed of marrying her long time fiance in a literature inspired wedding. However, when things fall apart with her fiance and she is suddenly single, she takes a step outside her comfort zone and travels to England to teach a summer course. Since Theo lives in England, and is a duke that she has been smitten with, there is lots of opportunities for funny scenes and sexy times.

If you enjoy the genre, you will love this book. Since I'm not a Shakespeare fan (sorry), some the quotes were a bit over the top to me, however, they were a part of the character Bonnie. For this reason, I would give this novel 4.5 stars.

I loved the funny scenes and all the wrong assumptions that added to them. Additionally, a new character, Theo's sister Tabitha, added humor to the story. I hope that Tabitha gets her own story in a future book.

Put this one at the top of your TBR list. While part of a series, this is a stand alone novel. I'm adding the author to my must read authors' list. While this is only her second book, she is an author to watch and I can't wait to see what she writes next.

Smitten by the Brit was such a sweet little romance. If you are a lover of classic lit, you will love this one. The nods to the great works are throughout and just make this fun novel all the better.

Smitten by the Brit is book 2 in a series and I believe best read after the first. It is Theo and Bonnie's complete story but the characters from the first novel have a big part in this one. I believe it would just complete the picture if the reader has insight from the first novel but not required.

Theo and Bonnie are likeable characters and the story flows smoothly. There is just enough angst to keep the story flowing but not so much as to bog down the light hearted feel.

If you are looking to read a fun, sweet little romance, this would be a good choice.
