Smitten by the Brit is book two in the series. I really liked it. I loved Bonnie and Theo. They had great chemistry and were perfect together! Looking forward to reading more in this series!

This second in the series can be read as a standalone, but would be better with the background of the first book, Getting Hot with the Scot.

Bonnie has always felt like she’s living in a novel – most often she stars in her fantasies as Anne of Green Gables, but occasionally wandering into Jane Austen territory. Theo has lived so long knowing his duty, he doesn’t even dare dream. They meet in the first book, but Bonnie is engaged, so nothing happens between them.

In this book, thanks to their friends getting married, they are brought back together. Bonnie learns that while dreams are fine, actually living life is better, and sometimes too much planning is as bad as not enough. Theo has to work his way through the overwhelming responsibility and pressure he’s lived with his whole life, to come to a place where he believes he’s free to choose happiness. It’s a long, complicated trip from Chicago to the UK and back before the pair can get to their happy.

I absolutely loved Bonnie and Theo, and their story is very sweet – two good-hearted people surmounting the obstacles and winning through to love. However, I felt that there was far too much time spent on Theo’s physical reaction whenever he was near Bonnie; it got tedious, and it slowed the pace of a story that already didn’t have a great deal of action. This is a good book for reading in small bits over several days, but it’s not going to keep most people up all night. I received an advance copy in return for my honest review.

Oh Bonnie. I love her passion for literature and the ability to deliver quotes from Shakespeare and Jane Austen at just the right moment is captivating. She has a plan and now that Gabe proposed, she wants to move forward with wedding planning but then she gets a shock and terminates the engagement. She is suddenly free and a little lost. All her plans are fizzling. An opportunity presents itself to spend the summer at Cambridge teaching and she grabs it. At the same time, Theo comes back into her world which stirs feelings she’s never had. Can she give up on love? Or will love find her in an unexpected way? Theo is dreamy. What a perfect gentleman even though many of his manners are lost on the independent women in his life. He never gives up on his upbringing and beliefs. When he bumps into Bonnie again, well, he is captivated just like the first time. Then the unthinkable happens and Bonnie is single. Now, Theo has a problem, he is Duke and must save the families legacy which has his mother pushing for a match that will bring money to infuse the family funds. Will Theo risk it all for true love? Or bow down to family pressure? I love this series. What a great group of friends with incredibly fun and sexy stories to share. As we experience each couples journey, we get to spend time with the entire crew. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

4 Sweet Sassy and Sexy Stars!!

This is the second book in this series and I remember thinking when I was reading Getting Hot with the Scot that I can't wait to see what happens between Theo and Bonnie especially since I had a really bad feeling about her fiancée Gabe and I was so right about those feelings!!

Bonnie is back in Chicago and has just found out Gabe has been cheating on her and the wedding is OFF! Theo happens to be in town for business and what's better than having a friends with benefits type arrangement for a few days to get the bad taste of Gabe out of her mouth, than getting busy with this sexy, suave and oh so handsome man?

I loved these two together. I mean who doesn't love a British accent and an amazing lover that makes sure Bonnie gets EVERYTHING she needs between the sheets? The problem though is that it starts to become more and Bonnie isn't sure she wants to trust her heart to another man again. And no one can blame her! And Theo has a sticky problem with his mom that makes all her questions valid!

I'm so enjoying this series, these characters and Ms. Johnson's writing. Her attention to detail is amazing and I can feel everything the characters are feeling. These women are friends that are there for each other through thick and thin and when love comes calling for them, they're so happy for each other and ready to celebrate all the happiness with each other. I can't wait to read Sadie's story!

Just about every little girl who grew up on fairy tales wants her chance to be a princess – or duchess in this case. Bonnie is my new hero. She had the courage to put her own happiness and wellbeing first when she discovered that her long-term relationship was falling apart, rather than try to salvage something that wasn’t working. She embraced her love of books, especially romances without any shame. And she was willing to chase after dreams that had the potential to make her happy. I admire her so much. Theo has a bit of a martyr complex. That didn’t make me love him any less, but it did make me want to smack him on lots of occasions. He’s sweet and charming, a bit of romantic and a gentleman through and through, but he’s been raised to believe the good of his family, his duty to his title and legacy, are more important than anything he might want for himself. That’s a lot of years of conditioning he had to break free from. I loved that this book showed both characters working to get over some pretty big personal issues to make things work. I would have loved to see a bit more time where their relationship was working before the book was over. However, I adored getting the chance to see Cassie and Logan again here, so maybe I’ll get to see more of Bonnie and Theo in the next book.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series and was excited to see that the second book was about Bonnie and Theo. I adored them both in the first book and loved them even more in Smitten by the Brit. Theo is such a dashing, chivalrous, noble gentleman. And Bonnie deserves to have someone love and be devoted to her after sticking by her creep of a boyfriend for so many years. The tension between these two was hot and I thoroughly enjoyed their story. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Another fun, delightful romance from Melonie Johnson! Smitten by the Brit is the second in her new Sometimes in Love series and follows Bonnie. After the first in the series (Getting Hot with the Scot), I was just itching for this book! While I think it'd work as a standalone, I would recommend reading Getting Hot with the Scot first to get the backstory.

Quoting Shakespeare and Austen in Smitten by the Brit, it felt like Johnson flirted throughout with the swoon line - that is, being so over the top as to induce swooning on one's fainting couch. Lucky for me (O ye, of little romanticism), I felt like she'd then dial that back with a joke, a little sarcasm, or a character explicitly calling out such behavior. But overall: You've probably got to access the romantic part of your brain (or heart!) to enjoy this one.

And enjoy, I did. I think I like Theo even more than I liked Logan, and Bonnie's great. The friend group is back in action, and how awesome is it for the woman lead in a romance read to have more than one friend!? Another thing in particular I appreciate about these books: With the exception of Sadie (the actress), I couldn't speak to the weight of any of the women. Bonnie could be 100, 150, or 200 pounds - I really don't know. And guess what? It doesn't freaking matter. She's a woman deserving of love (and sex!), period. Speaking of sex... There isn't a ton of it, but there *are* some explicit sex scenes.

Having read two by Johnson (and giving both four stars), I think I can call myself a fan!

This the first book I have read by Melonie Johnson and it won’t be the last because I really enjoyed Smitten by the Brit, Book 2 in the Sometimes in Love Series but it can certainly be read as a stand-alone, it’s a entertaining read with a swoon worthy Brit who just happens to be a Duke....
The story flowed, the chemistry the characters shared was natural and at times sizzling but what I really loved was how this authors writing makes you feel part of this tight nite group of friends. Theo and Bonnie met in book one and this story is about them reuniting, developing a friendship which eventually turns to love. This romance is very much a slow burn and l loved watching all the characters grow as I joined Theo and Bonnie’s journey to find love. Looking forward to what’s next in this series and going back to read book 1 as soon as time permits.

I have never been much into the foreign love thing, but I wanted to give this one a chance and plus it sounded interesting. This hero is from England and he had very good manners. I am talking about book 2 from the A Sometimes in Love series. In this story we have Theo, a hot Brit, and literature enthusiast, Bonnie. Apparently Theo and Bonnie met on a cruise when Bonnie and her friends took a summer trip Europe. Theo finds himself in the States again on business and he also run into red haired Bonnie. Sparks fly between Theo and Bonnie once again and the story jumps from there. After a bad breakup, Bonnie finds her presented with a dilemma. Should she continue with the everyday push of teaching or should she follow her dream as a writer? Her dream comes in the form of a summer job in England and right before she gets to be the maid of honor in her best friend wedding who is marrying Theo's best friend Logan. As you can see, this story is very intertwined and perfect set up, but does it deliver the romance and chemistry?

As I said before, I am not really into these type of romances and this story shows precisely why. The British language in this story was okay, but the Scottish language did nothing for me and it seemed exaggerated. The story did not flow as well as I would have liked and the chemistry was kind of dim. Bonnie was really into Shakespeare and other types of fine arts and this story had a lot of old English in it. It was off putting and it dragged the story. Oh and another thing, if you did not read the first book, like me, then you will be really lost because Theo and Bonnie speak about when they first met which happened in the first book. This made the book feel like it was missing half of the story.

In contrast, I liked Bonnie and Theo together overall. Theo had a big heart and he cared for his family. Bonnie was strong, ambitious and I loved her relationship with her friends. The story kept me interested for a while, but the middle is a bore. The pacing was weird because I was at the 95% mark before anything really got resolved. There is really not a problem in this story and the supposedly climax was flat.

This book was not for me and I feel like if you are into old literature like Shakespeare, then you may enjoy it. I am ranking this story 3 stars because while it had its flaws, it also kept me entertained throughout some of the book and the sex scenes were hot. I did not need tea ironically because this book has a British hottie nor a blanket to slide under. Cheerio!!

Smitten by the Brit was an enjoyable story. Yet I must admit to not being sure about it to begin with. As you have a Duke, who's on the verge of bankruptcy and whose mum is looking to marry him off to any wealthy, titled girl so that he can save the family fortune, and an English teacher, who forever quotes Shakespeare and is expecting her life to play out like she is Anne of Anne of Green Gables. But the more I read, the more I liked it and the more engaging this story became. Plus, it was undeniably sweet, easy to read, quirky and charming. As well as a little different to a lot of the contemporary romances I usually read, and I have to say overall I enjoyed this story more than Getting Hot with the Scot. And so I would happily recommend it to others.

First I have to say that this is my second book of talented author Melonie Johnson. I had the pleasure of reading this ARC and the love story of Bonnie. I have to say I loved it, but of course what love story I don't love (smile).

Bonnie loves romance, Shakespeare, Austen-esque. She's a college English professor,Cassie's bestfriend and maid of honor. She's engaged just like her bestfriend but her fiancé wont settle for a date. Bonnie bumps into Theo unexpectedly at a Gala which she attends with her best friend and her best friend's fiancé, Logan. There she starts to notice that whatever sparks she felt last summer in London every time she was around Theo she was starting to feel them again. But she was engaged to a man who was always in his "Studies" the one who she knew all her life. She also was feeling something for the sexy British man, Theo. Now Bonnie gets a job offer in London which gives her liberty to spend time with Theo.

Theo is in Chicago for an event, he also came to visit his bestfriend Logan, he's best man. Theo seems to not take Bonnie out of his head and his taughts since last summer but he respects that she is taken, engaged. Things to get a little hot between Bonnie and him during his days in Chicago but he has not been very clear to Bonnie about what he does.

I give it a 5 star rating because I loved the whole love story, it felt like a continuous from book 1 but it focused on different characters. Yes, it had its upsetting moments and I taught for a second I could strangle Bonnie because she always brought up her Ex-in the conversation, lol but it had a great happy ending.

This is the second book in the Sometimes in Love series. I believe it can be read as a stand-alone. The heroine is American and the hero is British. I like that these books take place all over the world. It fulfills the travel bug in me.

I had a good time reading this book. It’s a slow burn. My big issue is that I felt like a major relationship milestone was rushed. They barely got together. It didn’t feel like the right time. I’m still plan on reading more books in this series.

Bonnie jumps at the chance to take a professorship in England putting her near Theo, her best friend’s finance’s best friend. I know that sounds convoluted but yes, he’s a hunky brit and even though she’s heart broken she’s undeniably attracted to Theo and her him.

Theo is hot for Bonnie but suddenly he turns as cold as ice and Bonnie doesn’t know why. She soon discovers that she has some unlikely allies in the Wharton home.

Fun and flirty, Johnson writes a rocky romance with that HEA that we all love.

Book 2 in the Sometimes in Love series feature Bonnie and one of my favorite book boyfriends ever, Theo. I very much so liked this book, and would like to know where I can order a Theo of my own!

What I’m loving about this series is how lighthearted it is, and each HEA leaves me warm and satisfied and smiling. These books are quick read, but they’re fun and funny and sweet. Definitely an author to keep an eye out for.

When I read the first book in this series, Getting Hot with the Scot, I was excited to get my hands on books 2 and 3 of the series. I couldn’t wait to read more about this group of friends. Of course, I was also proceeding with caution, knowing full well that just because a series starts strong doesn’t mean it will remain strong. Well, peeps, I liked this story even more than the first!

Bonnie and Theo had chemistry since they first met when their best friends hooked up in the first book of the series. That chemistry was still there, and then some. I appreciate the author being very careful about how the two interacted with one another throughout that story and the beginning of this one, while Bonnie was most definitely in a serious relationship. She didn’t ignore the fact that her characters had sparks flying, yet she stayed true to their personalities and only had them push their flirting so far. Then even wrote in the guilty feelings one would feel in such a situation, even when they hadn’t done anything wrong.

Who wouldn’t swoon over Theo? He’s such a gentleman when it comes to manners and just being an all-around great guy. Throw in the fact that he’s an actual Duke and he’s irresistible. That’s exactly why he keeps his “profession” to himself. With Bonnie’s trust issues, this causes some problems. But Bonnie is also rational and able to talk her way through her feelings for Theo and if it was truly important for him to tell her everything while they were still pretty much mere acquaintances.

In fact, Bonnie plays things right through much of this story by thinking things through. After getting out of such a long relationship, it was important for her to know which of her feelings were sincere and which were knee-jerk reactions to her situation.

While Theo and Bonnie had some fun and funny times, their relationship is extremely charming. They both have a certain level or decorum yet were ravenous when around one another. I loved it! And, let’s not forget that Bonnie has been with the same boy/man since she was an actual child. So, her connection to Theo is a sort of sexual re-awakening for her. Which is both sweet and funny at the same time. There are some conversations between Bonnie and her girlfriends about sex that I will never forget. Great writing!

So happy there are still more books to come in this series.

Oh my, I loved Theo and Bonnie. I haven't read the first book in this series, but I definitely will now. I enjoyed the romance a lot! Fun read!

Melonie Johnson is a relatively new author to me and I have to say I really enjoyed this story.
This was an entertaining read and although this is the second book in the series, it can be read as a stand alone. However I do feel you might benefit from reading the first book prior to this one, although that is just my opinion as both Bonnie and Theo first appeared in Getting Hot With The Scot.

Bonnie Blythe has her life all planned out for her so she is rocked and shocked when things do not go to plan. Escaping to England to teach at Cambridge and re group for the Summer, she again meets hunky Brit Theo Wharton and despite her recent past is attracted to him.

Theo ticked the boxes for me, he is kind, caring, compassionate and oozes charisma whilst Bonnie is sweet, honest and a tad naive. The banter between Theo and Bonnie was amusing and had me laughing on occasion.

The characters were both extremely likeable and easy to relate to and the chemistry and tension was smoking hot as they navigated their relationship.

This second book in the series is a lot faster moving than the first. Bonnie is the introvert of the pack. She gets her heart broken which opens the opportunity for her to pursue her feelings for Theo. Theo is the consummate gentleman with a hero complex. He wants to put everyone’s needs before his own. The author spends enormous time exploring literary references which is great fun. The characters are deep and substantial. Bonnie and Theo have to overcome their insecurities and face their fears before they can find what it is they truly want in life.

I have a couple of friends who have raved about this series, so I finally caved. Sadly, I was a bit disappointed.

I liked Bonnie and Theo well enough. They’re both good people who are struggling with their lives. While I did enjoy them getting to know each other, the chemistry seemed to be all tell and no show. However, I loved the support in the female friendships {the popsicle blowjob lesson in the middle of the bridal store, while in their underwear scene had me cackling} and could easily read a book about Theo’s sister, Tabitha.

Plot wise, it was okay. The concept of time seemed to be an afterthought as I was constantly having to go back and see if anything was referenced. My main hang up was the repetitive use of certain words and phrases {don’t even get me started on how Bonnie constantly uses “down there”.} Added annoyance: they never said ILY to each other, even at the very very end. Perhaps this is something that will be fixed in the finalized copy.

Overall, it was a cute concept, but for me, the romance aspect really fizzled out. And yes, I know this review is all over the place. I’ve read it a million times and I don’t know how to make it more articulate without typing 1738218 paragraphs.
