A Sometimes in Love Novel

If you were a fan of Getting Hot With The Scot, well there is more! Bonnie and Theo.

I love Bonnie and her Austen obsession. And Theo is such a gentleman and determined to do the right thing. But you know what they say about good intentions.

Bonnie is back home and still engaged to Gabe. And Theo just happens to be in town on business. When we find out trusty Gabe has been untrue! He cheated! On Bonnie! Which leaves the road free for Theo to make a move.

Only Theo's mother is determined he marry an heiress to shore up the family's coffers.

Will they get together? Will Love win? You will have to read it to find out!

The author has written another wonderful book. Bonnie Blythe loves everything Shakespeare and Jane Austen. She has been costume parties, museums and events. She has had her life planned out and worked hard to achieve it. In a blink of an eye, it is all ripped away. Theo Wharton fell for Bonnie the first time he saw her. Nothing could come of it though. Until he saw her and knew there was something wrong. Time to be a friend. Friendship was not going to be enough. Enter in the girls. You will laugh like crazy when they get together. It take Cassie and Tabitha to meddle for Bonnie and Theo to find there HEA.

How refreshing to read a book about a duke but set in current times! This story was charming and fun. I loved getting to know Bonnie and Theo. I also LOVED Bonnie's independent spirit and sass! More of that, please!
Now I have to go hunt down Ms Johnson's other books to devour them!!

The second book in Sometimes in Love, Smitten by the Brit, is an enjoyable read. We met both Theo and Bonnie in Getting Hot with the Scot, in this book they reconnect and form a friendship that grows into much more. I enjoyed this story the characters and the interaction throughout. I look forward to reading more of this series and by this author.

This is a cute romantic comedy type of romance. Bonnie is a frustrating character and a bit whinny for my tastes. She does get better and I honestly can't blame her too much.Theo is an awesome hero. His manners are endearing and I can feel his emotions for Bonnie.I preferred the first book and still feel like the characters act younger than their given ages. This is an enjoyable book and I recommend it.

Theo’s character really makes this book. Bonnie comes off as a bit whiny and it drives me crazy. The storyline is creative and it is such a sweet romantic story.

As an English Professor, Bonnie loves literature, mostly Shakespeare, Jane Austen. So it’s no surprise to her best friends that her future wedding with her long-time boyfriend, will be very British. That is until she catches him cheating in their bed! No wonder he always had an excuse to set a wedding date. When one door closes, another one opens. Now she’s been offered a summer teaching job in Cambridge University in England.

Theo Wharton has been under a lot of stress with his family. His mother keeps pressuring him to marry a wealthy woman so they can save their ancestral home, The Abby, since his father squandered all the money, Theo is trying to come up with a plan where he doesn’t have to marry out of convenience. Ever since Theo met the beautiful American, Bonnie, he hasn’t been able to stop thinking about her. Now he finds out, she will be in England teaching for the summer. No matter how much he wants a relationship with her, he has to find a solution to his family problems.

The chemistry between Theo and Bonnie is undeniable, but can they overcome their differences to make this work.

An enjoyable story featuring a nice guy and a bookish girl. Those who like their Shakespere and Austin references or love their male characters polite, sensitive, caring but sexy as hell, will love this book. I thoroughly enjoyed Bonnie’s journey to find herself.

After finding her fiancé, who’s she’s been with since she was a teenager, having sex with another woman in HER bed, Bonnie decides to take a job offer to teach in England. Theo, who has been drawn to Bonnie since she visited England with her friends last year, wants Bonnie in his bed and his life, but allows her the time and space to come to him. Not wanting to pressure her into anything and with his own troubles, their relationship grows into something special over time.

For some the pace and development of their relationship will be too slow. Due to Bonnie’s past relationship and Theo’s family troubles, they don’t truly get together until the last few pages.

Thanks to the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Chicago, USA, and Cambridge, England

Bonnie Blythe traveled to Europe last summer with her best friends from college. Now in less than a year her friend Cassie will marry a Scotsman. A man who followed Cassie back to Chicago. Bonnie has been engaged for years to Gabe, and he wouldn’t even come with her tonight. This weekend he had an appointment with his advisor. He doesn’t want to marry until he finishes his PhD. She is feeling frustrated and jealous. She is at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater Gala for the Bard. While there, Cassie insists she meet a woman from Cambridge University who wants Bonnie to teach an ICE (Institute of Continuing Education) seminar this coming summer in England. She also encounters a British man she met in London, Theo Wharton, Cassie’s fiancé’s best friend and best man. Theo excites her...but she is engaged. She leaves the gala early. Walking into her apartment she encounters a very unpleasant surprise. Gabe is having sex with another woman. She throws her engagement ring on the bed and leaves. Luckily, she has friends, one of whom lets her use her family’s reserved hotel room. Just by chance the same hotel and the same floor where Theo has a room.

Theo’s mother arranged his stay in Chicago to help a family friend his mom wants him to marry for her family’s wealth. Since his spendthrift father’s death, Theo has had a hard time keeping his own ducal estate intact. The woman doesn’t interest him, but Bonnie does. Soon he and Bonnie are sharing an intimate encounter. Bonnie tells him she will call him in a month when she arrives in Cambridge, but she doesn’t.

SMITTEN BY THE BRIT’s Bonnie and Theo are challenged in romance, one betrayed in love and the other under financial duress. Before going to England, Bonnie’s college friends inform her on how to handle oral sexual encounters. For all her sex with Gabe, Bonnie is rather inexperienced. The information will be useful. The story is filled with pathos, anxiety, and humor and both characters have much to overcome to reach what they desire. Can Bonnie overcome how Gabe’s betrayal affected her, and can Theo surmount his mother’s wishes? Both will need willpower and perseverance.

I enjoyed the previous book in the series and as I expected, I did indeed like this book as well. We met Bonnie and Theo in Getting Hot with the Scot and I knew that there was more to be said about these two. Of course, this book was full of humor and romance. The plot line also kept me interested and engaged. Overall, I would recommend.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this book.
It was written well and the hesitation between the characters to get together made sense. Bonnie is still afraid to trust after what her fiance did and Theo is stuck between his feelings and his duty to his family.
When the characters were together the dialogue was fun and flirty, however they were apart for quite a long time, with one or the other refusing to initiate contact which was slightly frustrating.
Looking forward to other works by this author, wondering who will get their HEA next.

Bonnie is such a sweet person, honest and trustworthy so when she meets Theo on a dinner cruise she is full of butterflies but before she falls for his English charm she explains she’s engaged. Bonnie and her fiancé have been together for ever but she is still waiting till he finishes school and gets a job. After coming home early thinking she would have the apartment to herself till Gabe gets home from meeting with his advisor she hears voices only to discover Gabe is meeting in her bedroom on her grandmothers quilt.
Well having survived that with her head held high she accepts a job offer to teach in Cambridge and she has to go to England at some point for her best friends wedding which she is only a little jealous of.
Theo is a Duke but his family fortune is dwindling and his mother is determined to have him marry into money to keep the family afloat but he doesn’t want to get married he has only had eyes for an American with red hair and freckles for miles..Bonnie.
Bonnie runs from confrontation and Theo avoids
it but as your heart is breaking for Bonnie it goes out to Theo too and you can’t help but wonder if there is any happy ending coming.

Loved this romance between Bonnie and Theo. When I met these characters in the first book in the series, I knew that I would enjoy reading their story. Bonnie starts out the story waiting for her fiance to set a date for their wedding only to find that he's been conducting an affair under her nose for almost a year. She swiftly breaks it off with him and Theo is there to catch her briefly. Bonnie takes advantage of an offer to teach a summer session at Cambridge and move away from her routine. I loved that Theo was an English duke and I definitely felt their chemistry. Each of them had reasons for fighting their attraction and each of them was able to work through their issues in time. I really want to visit their cottage in the Lake District lol.

I loved the previous book in this series and I loved this one as well. I enjoyed the slow build of the relationship between Theo and Bonnie. After meeting as acquaintances in the first book, they reunite and develop a friendship, and eventually a romance that Theo allows Bonnie to set the pace of. The interactions and sexiness between them were realistic and enjoyable. The only disappointment I did have as a romance lover was that as far as the relationship went by the end, the words "I love you" were never spoken by either. Luckily, their other words and actions definitely conveyed their feelings.

Such a fun read. This is my favorite so far in this series. The strong interactions between the five friends and the life decisions to be made between Bonnie and Theo are engaging enough to make this an excellent read. There is plenty of story line along with the steam, to make this one of my top reads this year. Find a place on your shelf for this one.

Melonie Johnson is back with another fabulous romance in her Sometimes in Love series. SMITTEN BY THE BRIT!

This time out, Bonnie and Theo get their chance at love and while there are moments of quirky humor, there is more uncertainty and sweetness in their budding love story. Wonderful chemistry, a dollop of chivalry and that certain British flare for composure play off the straightforward American way of things perfectly! Toss in some quirky literary mentions and this one is sure to leave readers smiling as two people, clearly perfect for each other stumble through the dance of love.

Sit back and enjoy some romance that will leave you sighing in contentment after a bumpy ride across the pond and a few secrets that could make a royal mess of things!

Bonnie Blyth, an English professor along with her best friends spend time during the summer to visit various countries in Europe. While in England, she meets Theo Wharton and is smitten. The problem is, she is engaged to another at home in America. An enjoyable summer read where "All's Well That Ends Well."

A nicely written, light-hearted romance involving best friends of best friends (maid of honor/best man). This is the second in series (I plan to go back and read the first), but could easily stand alone (although I feel I’ll get to know the extended cast better by reading the first).

This one involves an instant attraction, a bitter breakup, some humorous intimate moments, a big misunderstanding and some gingerbread....something for everyone! 😊

I liked the first book in this series but I loved this one. Bonnie and Theo had great chemistry in the previous book and it was so satisfying to finally see them get together.

Theo is a charming and well mannered Brit who happens to be a duke and has swoon inducing dimples. He also feels that he must put the needs of his family before his own. Bonnie is a lover of all things Shakespeare and Austen. Suffering from heartbreak she is not sure of herself and not ready to jump into another relationship. But who can resist swoon inducing dimples?

There was a lot to love about this book.. It is full of humor and warmth. I love Bonnie and her group of friends and it was great catching up with Cassie and Logan. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series.
