Smitten by the brit is amazing. Its funny, romantic and has amazing Shakespeare and Jane Austen quotes.

Bonnie has a plan, be made of honor at her best friends wedding and set a date for her own wedding, Seems simple yes! However her life comes crashing down when she walks in on her fiancé cheating on her. Bonnie has new decisions and plans to make. Than along comes Theo, Bonnie's best friends fiancé's best friend. (aka the best man). Theo is this handsome brit with amazing dimples that Bonnie can't get enough of. The chemistry between these two are amazing.
Overall, this is a sweet book. Also I would like to say from an Irish perspective, Thank you!!! You would not believe how many authors mix up English culture and the Irish culture! Melonie Johnson, you got it right! Thank you.
Thank you to netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Sexy and funny, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. We first met Bonnie and Theo in book one (Hot for the Scot), and this one allows us to learn their story. Bonnie is a literature professor who loves Shakespeare and Austin and has always dreamed of marrying her long time fiance in a literature inspired wedding. However, when things fall apart with her fiance and she is suddenly single, she takes a step outside her comfort zone and travels to England to teach a summer course. Since Theo lives in England, and is a duke that she has been smitten with, there is lots of opportunities for funny scenes and sexy times.

If you enjoy the genre, you will love this book. Since I'm not a Shakespeare fan (sorry), some the quotes were a bit over the top to me, however, they were a part of the character Bonnie. For this reason, I would give this novel 4.5 stars.

I loved the funny scenes and all the wrong assumptions that added to them. Additionally, a new character, Theo's sister Tabitha, added humor to the story. I hope that Tabitha gets her own story in a future book.

Put this one at the top of your TBR list. While part of a series, this is a stand alone novel. I'm adding the author to my must read authors' list. While this is only her second book, she is an author to watch and I can't wait to see what she writes next.

Smitten by the Brit was such a sweet little romance. If you are a lover of classic lit, you will love this one. The nods to the great works are throughout and just make this fun novel all the better.

Smitten by the Brit is book 2 in a series and I believe best read after the first. It is Theo and Bonnie's complete story but the characters from the first novel have a big part in this one. I believe it would just complete the picture if the reader has insight from the first novel but not required.

Theo and Bonnie are likeable characters and the story flows smoothly. There is just enough angst to keep the story flowing but not so much as to bog down the light hearted feel.

If you are looking to read a fun, sweet little romance, this would be a good choice.

Angst, angst, and more angst! I loved the characters in this story, don't get me wrong, but the level of drama in this book was so much higher than I expected. Almost from the beginning the reader gets a hint of drama to come, and then it begins and snowballs into one big mess. In the best sense, of course. Because what is romance without a little trial and error? While I did enjoy the secondary characters even more than the H and h, I thought the story was fun with lots of things going on to keep your attention engaged from start to finish.

Theo Wharton's mission in life, at least lately, is to save his family's legacy and keep the coffers full to keep and maintain their estate. But life throws him a curveball in the form of beautiful Bonnie Blythe, an American with a penchant for independence and a saucy mouth. When they first met in London a year ago, she was engaged and he was firmly set into the friendzone. But now things have changed and their friendship has turned into something much more. The trouble is, Theo needs an heiress and Bonnie is not even close. Not to mention that Bonnie is not sure what she wants with Theo, and her life has become one big what if. What if she goes to England to teach? What if she wants to become a writer? What if she falls in love with a duke?

So many funny scenes in this book! I laughed a lot. But as I said before, this book is chock full on angst too! And it's much ado about nothing very frequently. I typically read a lot of historical romance, so I am familiar with the whole concept of financially unsteady lords needing to marry heiresses to keep their families in good standing. But I thought that ended a long time ago...apparently not! I was pretty irritated with Theo from the get-go for not standing up for his future against his mother, who was so focused on appearances that she couldn't care less if her son was happy and in love. It was frustrating! Thankfully, Theo found his backbone...eventually. And Bonnie kept him on his toes...for the most part. There was a part towards the end where some serious groveling should have been done by Theo, but basically he just said "I'm sorry" and that was it. Not enough for me. Especially when Theo crushed my heart right alongside Bonnie's - think Marianne and Willoughby. It was not a pretty picture.

Overall, my favorite character was Theo's sister, Tabitha! I cannot wait for her to have her own book - she gets her own book, right? Please say yes! I can't wait to read more from this author.

This book is everything and more.
I really loved all the relations to the Shakespeare, Austen and even Harry Potter.
Story is about Bonnie, who is an English teacher in a Chicago.
She is smitten with the Brit named Theo. He is a wonderful character and a good looking chap. He is also the Duke and this title is wearing him down.
Story picks up from where it is left in the first part Hot with the Scot. But it is not mandatory to read the first part in order to start with the second.
The book has all the feels and indeed I was also smitten by the Brit. He is very polite and considerate but also sexy as hell. I love London and everything about England so I was happy that the book was placed there.
If you love romance, Shakespeare and Austen this book is right down your alley.
I certainly enjoyed it very much.

Yes, I was smitten by your Brit Melonie Johnson!
"Smitten by the Brit" is the second book in the "Sometimes in Love".
It sequels "Getting hot with the Scot" (Cassie and Logan's story)
Ms Johnson uses Shakespeare and Austen references throughout this book and it fits this story perfectly. I haven't read any Shakespeare or Austen works (yet) , only seen a play and movie adaptations. But I loved it. It made me fell even more for Theo the Brit and Bonnie.

Because of all the back story in book 1, I highly recommend (but not necessary) reading it before starting on "Smitten by the Brit"

Like with the first book the thing I'm most annoyed with is the POV. In this book it could've been more clearly devided between Bonnie's POV and Theo's POV, it would make the reading flow better.
That said, I think the writing in this book is better than it was in the previous book. The flow is better.

All in all, I'm smitten. Simply as that.
And then there is the battle between Logan the Scot and Theo the Brit.
I'm torn. I love the Scottish brogue and I love the British gentleman. Might just be a tie... No, I don't think I can choose one over the other.

Thanks @netgalley for providing me with an advanced readers copy. I'm ever so thankful.

We met the professor and the duke in book one of the series, and now Bonnie and Theo get their own story.

Bonnie fought her attraction to the hot duke when they’d met last summer, but freshly single and back in England she is free to explore her feelings.

Theo hasn’t been able to get Bonnie off his mind since they met. When their best friends recruit them as best man and maid of honor, he gets to know her better. Love wasn’t something he ever imagined. Being a duke he was required and expected to marry for money and connections, it was enough for him until he fell in love.

I absolutely loved Theo from his first page in book 1 of the series. Bonnie is his perfect match. Fantastic book with a modern “Austen” plot.

Great book loaded with crazy friends, destination weddings, hot best man and awesome sex! What more could a girl ask for in a book!

Just a fun book to read. Bitten by the Brit is the second book in the series, but it can be read as a stand alone. It was more steamy than I prefer but still a fun read.

Right up front: Romance is not one of my usual genres, but I had reasons for reading this. I had already read the first book in the series, the characters are likable, and the settings give me ideas of places to go and things to see. The plot, once again, was predictable. The ending of one life path to allow a new one was a little too easy for me. Turning on a dime with no regrets isn't how things usually play out. I also had a hard time believing the scene at the bridal shop - as if they would allow a bunch of loopy women to bring in grape popsicles, for educational purposes or otherwise. Once again, if you like this sort of book, you will like this one, I am sure. It is what it is, and it does a good job of being that.

Theo Wharton was a duke. An honest to God, living, breathing, peer of the realm. And she’d made out with him..

This was a super cute, fluffy read! I really enjoyed the relationship between the girlfriends, they were all a hoot.

Thank you NetGalley & the publisher for a copy of this book!!

So I was excited to read this book after reading "Getting Hot with the Scot", you knew what was going to happen to Bonnie and her engagement, well we predicted. And I honestly do not know about you but I was intrigued with Theo in the first book, if you haven't read it, stop right here, and please get the first book it was a good book. Anywho, back to this one, we have a continuation of these 5 fabulous woman and friends. Bonnie gets offered a position in London which has always been one of her dreams and now that her other dream crashed an burned she figures why not? She has a reunion with Theo, the hottie Duke who was attracted to her from the get go, but she was taken and he knew he couldn't pursue besides he has other obligations. And my friends as they try to fight this attraction chaos ensues, we have meddling mothers, jealousy and well meaning family and most importantly (in my opinion anyway) we get to find out what is happening with Cassie and Logan..Enjoy!

really enjoyed this book. This story was a run, steamy romance with great characters. I loved the characters, Bonnie and Theo that it was difficult to put the book down until the last page. This story is part of a series although you can read it alone.

I received this advance copy from Netgalley for a honest review.

I received this ARC for an honest review. Melonie Johnson is a new to me author. She surprised me. I really enjoyed this cute story. This is a second book in a series, but can be read as a stand alone. This story is about Bonnie and Theo. Bonnie is an associate professor for a small liberal arts, and Theo is a Duke of Emberton. Bonnie didn’t have a clue that Theo was a duke, but when she found out she really didn’t care. They met the previous summer during a girls trip to Europe. Bonnie’s best friend (Cassie) met her future husband ( Logan) on that trip. Logan & Theo are best mates. Bonnie & Theo meet up again in Chicago when Theo comes to visit Logan for a weekend trip.
Bonnie is offered to teach a Shakespeare intensive seminar during the summer in Cambridge University. Luckily, Theo lives close to Cambridge. Bonnie takes this time to find out who she is & what she wants.
I’m not going to tell you much more about the story...You have to read it.
It is a really cute story, and I did enjoy it. I think you will too.

Melonie Johnson's sophomore novel "Smitten by the Brit" is the perfect contemporary read for fans of regency romance. Bonnie and Theo, two of my favorite characters from Johnson's "Getting Hot with the Scot" get their happy ending in this sexy, funny, and heart-warming read. Any reader will be rooting for our adorable professor and her hottie Duke. Melonie Johnson's writing improved by leaps with a tighter story-line and familiar characters.

This is a fluffy cute story about Theo and Bonnie. Poor Bonnie thought she had it all til she caught her all in her bed with a blonde. So her life drastic changes in the blink of an eye. She excepts a teaching position in England and runs into Theo the gorgeous Brit best friend of her best friend Cassie, and sparks fly.

This is the 2nd book in the Sometimes Love series.
It can be read as a standalone but I think it would work better if you read this first.
I really enjoyed this book.

this is the second book in the sometimes in love series. Thank you, Net Galley, for a copy!

I have not read the first but that did not hurt my enjoyment of this book. I am not really a fan of the Jane Austin theme, I did enjoy the interaction between Theo and Bonnie. The heavy-handed mother! Theo has hidden from Bonnie that he is a duke and needs to "marry well"

the story was fresh and well written, and I did enjoy it. A nice read!

This second entry in the Sometimes in Love series was just as good as the first! The timeline presses forward as we edge closer to Cassie and Logan's wedding, and Bonnie and her boyfriend have yet to set a date. It becomes apparent very quickly that no date has been set for good reason. Bonnie, like one of her unflappable literary heroines, dusts herself off and moves on with adventures of her across the pond. When she's right in Theo's backyard, will she be able to resist the man who is all charm and decorum?

Ms Johnson won me over with another title full of heart and vulnerability and friendship.

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
