Loved Getting Hot With the Scot so of course I had to find out what happens with Bonnie, Cassie's best friend with whom she travelled to Europe. Theo is Cassie's fiance's best friend and when he meets Bonnie in the first book. she's a little chill to him. Of course, she's engaged and waiting for her long time boyfriend to pop the questions.

In Smitten by the Brit, Beth finds out her boyfriend has been cheating on her for a year when she walks him and sees him with his girlfriend doing the dirty deed. She immediately breaks up with him and goes to stay at a fancy hotel until she decides what she should do next. Theo happens to be in town also - and at the same hotel - on the same floor.

Bonnie has a difficult time letting go of her anger and she is also jealous of her best-friend's impending nuptials
Theo is struggling to do the "right" thing for his family, who are in dire financial straits. But he wants Bonnie - badly.

The author beautifully includes all the characters from the first book while creating a story for Bonnie and Theo. Highly recommended..

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Like the first in the series, not only do you have the couple to enjoy, but the friendships and family relationships add a lot to the story as well.

I enjoyed the slow build of the relationship between Theo and Bonnie. After meeting as acquaintances in the first book, they reunite and develop a friendship, and eventually a romance that Theo allows Bonnie to set the pace of. The interactions and sexiness between them were realistic and enjoyable. The only disappointment I did have as a romance lover was that as far as the relationship went by the end, the words "I love you" were never spoken by either. Luckily, their other words and actions definitely conveyed their feelings.

Additional to the development of the relationship, I loved that the reader gets to see the growth of the characters individually. Bonnie is offered a job opportunity that gives her time to be on her own and connect with what really made her happy. Theo reevaluates his choices and priorities so that he can live his best life. Seeing them improve their own situations in addition to finding love gave added depth to the story.

I highly recommend this book (as well as the first) and I look forward to the installments still to come.

Although I liked this second entry in the series better than the first, I still feel a bit of a lack of chemistry between the heroine and hero. Bonnie and Theo say all the right things, but I'm just not feeling their connection as much as I should. That said, I thoroughly enjoyed all the literary references, and who doesn't dream of teaching a summer course on Shakespeare at Cambridge? I liked enough about this book to continue to give this series a try.

The perfect laugh out loud romantic comedy that had me laughing and smiling the whole way through reading this book. Loved it. Full of warmth, fun and feel good factor, is what everyone needs to have on their reading devices. New to this author but definitely be coming back for more. One to look out for in the future. Totally recommend

This was super cute! It was my first time reading this author. Tbh, I think this is part of a series, but I didn’t have any problem following along. I loved Theo - he was such a dreamy hero. And I also loved the twist that he is a modern day duke!
Bonnie is just adorable. And I loved all of the supporting characters, especially theo’s sisters!

Wanted to love this one, but it was pretty mediocre. Missing the talent of creating spark, tension and anticipation without the constant in your face crudeness.

The plot line was ok, but nothing that felt original. The constant on then off broke the flow in Bonnie & Theo's relationship.

It was overall OK, not my favourite.

Thanks to Netgalley for the eARC. This is my honest review.

"Heavy-handed there much, Lady Catherine? Bonnie had often wished to be in the middle of an Austen novel. Only now that she was, she couldn't wait to escape."

Okay, the moment when Bonnie meets Theo in Getting Hot with the Scot, I just knew I needed their story. Smitten by the Brit did NOT disappoint. Bonnie is always spouting off Shakespeare and Austen, which makes me love her even more. She's been with the same guy since she was just a little girl, and she cast him, her best friend, and herself in the roles of Anne of Green Gables. She's a total book nerd, which I'm sure many of us can relate to. She is just so sweet, yet strong, and I really enjoy that in a female character.

Don't even get me started on the dashing and chivalrous Theo. Just kidding, I definitely want to talk about one of my new book boyfriends. We got a peek at the amazingness that is Theo when he helped Cassie in Getting Hot with the Scot, but man you really get to see it in this story. He is just always trying to do what's right. But he does get to experience the saying, "the road to hell is paved with good intentions." Will he completely screw everything up, that question is exactly what kept me sucked in to the very end.

And did I mention Theo's sister helps Bonnie plan a hen party, which ends up being Harry Potter themed?! YES, this book is THAT AWESOME. I already preordered my physical copy, because I need to hold this piece of heaven in my hands.

Special thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the free ARC in exchange for an honest review!

This was an ok read for me, very light funny book. This is Bonnie and Theo book, Bonnie is just waiting for her fiance to set a wedding date! She's not at all upset that her bestie is getting married ahead of her and her longtime boyfriend to a man she met less than a year ago?! Nope not at all lol she definitely isn't thinking about the hottie blue eyes Brit best man?! When her jerk of a fiance does something shocking she ends their engagement and accept a summer job teaching at Cambridge, only an hour away from Theo lol she definitely isn't looking for another relationship but when the two get together it's to hit to handle !! I do recommend this book it was a funny light read! Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for sharing this book with me!

This is the second book in this series and I enjoyed it very much. Especially the settings, this authors does a great job of making you love her background. I also loved the "girlfriends", the secondary characters are what makes this story stand out. I was not to fond of the main character. Again, this series does have a lot of sex scenes. Thanks to Netgalley for letting me read this book.

This was a really fast, good read for me! The characters were well developed, and the plot line kept me hooked until I reached the end. This is definitely worthy of 4 stars and two thumbs up to the author for creating a book that is sure to be a hit with all romance lovers! Well done!

This story follows Bonnie Blythe on her path to rediscovery. She is a book loving teacher who finds herself single and has to figure out how to move on. In walks Theo, a gorgeous Brit whom she met a year before and who is interested in her now. She accepts a job at Cambridge University for the summer. While in England, she becomes closer to Theo but unbeknownst to Bonnie, he is keeping information from her. Bonnie is still trying to find her way and is not fully able to open up her heart to the possibilities with Theo. I won't ruin the ending but it definitely leaves the reader with all the feels.
I really enjoyed this book. It was an easy read. It was entertaining and at times hilarious. I had trouble putting it down. The book was well written and very polished. I have not read anything from Melonie Johnson before but she will definitely be on my radar.

Smitten by the Brit (Sometimes in Love Book 2) is the first book I've read by Melonie Johnson and I absolutely loved it. I adored Bonnie, Theo and their zany friends. This is a fun, steamy romance that won't disappoint. Now I'm off to read Getting Hot with the Scot (Sometimes in Love Book 1)

I loved the Chicago girls. I love their loyalty. Bonnie was not my best character. She was so brizzly towards Theo when he was trying to be a gentleman towards her. I didn't like her running away when she was uncomfortable and wouldn't stick around to communicate. It happens at least three times. It is beyond immature and borders weird for a 29/30 year old who had been living/engaged to run away.

The strength of the book was the settings. The author has made me feel a part of the scenery of both Chicago and England. I felt the wonder of Bonnie at the Book restaurant or the high tea at the Swan.

I would read her work again.

I usually love everything that Melonie Johnson writes but this book was a little to slow for me. I loved Bonnie and her friends. They were so much fun and the same goes for Theo, I just thought that it was too slow of a burn. The ending tied things together nicely, but I just didn’t feel as connected to the story as I normally do

We first met Bonnie and Theo in Getting Hot With the Scot. Even though it would really help to understand the dynamics between the various characters, reading that book first isn’t necessary and this book does stand on its own.

I’ll admit, I wasn’t a big fan of Bonnie before this book. She seemed too uptight and a little self-centered. Theo, on the other hand, I always liked with his exceedingly good manners and kindness and he was a bit of a favorite. So, I was surprised I liked this book as much as I did and was cheering Bonnie and Theo as a couple. Bonnie really grew on me and by the end, I actually was happy to see her get her HEA.

I thought this book was very good. So cute with a few funny moments in there. Definitely going after that Austen vibe even down to the Duke bit. There were several references to Austen throughout the book in case you didn’t pick up on the theme. I thought the whole progression of the story was good from pacing, plot, to characterization. The progression to the HEA was great with just enough angst to raise the stakes but not so much it grew wearisome.

Definitely an improvement from the first book in this series and overall a great read. Four stars.

I have to admit, I didn't know this was in a series, or I would have read the other book first. It was a cute read. Especially if you like Shakespeare and England.

This is the first book I read by Melonie Johnson and it did not dissapoint! Few pages in I realised this is second book in the Sometimes in Love series. Although, I didn't read the first book, I haven't had any hard time catching up with all the characters. Immediately, I fell in love with Bonnie and Theo and that's why I couldn't put down this book. I just wanted to know how will they end up together. Also I liked a lot Harry Potter references, the plot that is set in romantic places of England. I would definitely recommend this book to all of you that like to read fun, steamy romance with gorgeous gentleman as the main male character.

I fell in love with these characters in the first book! It was completely predictable that Bonnie would end up with Theo from the moment they met in Book 1. This is a great light beach read!! Some aspects, I struggled with believeability since Bonnie only has a Master's degree, yet Cambridge University wants her to teach there for the summer. Odd, but I suspended reality for the sake of the storyline. Most of the actions from each character was completely predictable. I do have to admit, I was beginning to be bored by the characters and the story. I was engaged enough to want to find out the ending.

Theo was instantly attracted to the very engaged Bonnie. It took everything he had not to flirt with her while entertaining Cassie's friends so his best friend, Logan can entertain Cassie.

Bonnie Blythe knew that Cassie Crow would be her best friend from the moment of roll call in first grade. Bonnie lived and breathed books and theatre. Oh and everything Jane Austen and William Shakespeare which is what took them to England on their trip and where Cassie met Logan. It is also where Bonnie struggled to remind herself how very unavailable she is when Logan introduced Theo to their circle of friends. Theo the gorgeous blue eyed Brit with impeccable manners.  Theo, who makes all her girly parts tingle something her own fiance has yet to do. Theo is also the person Bonnie has to eliminate from her memory. Unfortunately, Bonnie will be seeing a lot of the handsome Brit at Cassie and Logan's wedding. Yes, wedding. Bonnie is not upset that she has been engaged for over a year without a wedding date in sight. No, not at all. She is happy for her friend and her happiness. But she's only known Logan for less than six months! Ok, maybe a bit of jealousy is rising...especially over the fact that Logan can't keep his hands off of Cassie. Anyone can feel the sexual tension between Cassie and Logan. Bonnie has never felt that for her fiance--like ever. It's comfortable.

Theo was instantly attracted to the strawberry blonde in Cassie's circle of friends. He was just doing a solid for his best friend, Logan by keeping the rest of the women entertained. He couldn't take his eyes off of Bonnie even after he was told she is betrothed. Lucky bastard.  The lovely Bonnie is everything that a man could want. When Theo finds out what he douche fiance did...well he wants to join Logan in beating the man to a pulp. Instead he comforts her. Oh and kisses her. How those kisses haunt him. He want much more from her but not until she's ready. Theo is heartbroken when Bonnie doesn't call him after arriving in Cambridge. He goes to her. Theo is hiding a part of himself from Bonnie. He's not sure if they would be able to survive. It doesn't help that his meddlesome mother wants Theo to marry another royal. Theo's heart belongs to someone else and he's not sure if he can even begin a relationship--even a business relationship when is heart is elsewhere.

I really enjoyed this book. It moved quickly and I enjoyed the characters. Although not a big fan of Shakespeare or Austen, I still thought it was a good read.. It offered hope for those who do not have a clear path for their lives and for those who have loved and lost. It was a good story of friendships and honoring those we care about.
