I hadn't meant to binge this series but after the first I wanted more. I think this one was written even better than the first! I really like the writing and depth of the characters. Now on to the next!

Smitten by the Brit was a fun & entertaining read. It is the sweet tale of Theo and Bonnie finally giving into and trusting the chemistry that has been there since they first met.
I liked how Theo wasn't your typical romance hero. He is exceedingly polite... the man says Thank You after he orgasms! Lol! While I love myself some alpha man... it is fun to read romances that are about all different types! I also enjoyed Bonnie's love of all things Shakespeare and Austen.
The book had some moments that literally had me laughing out loud. The hen party (bachelorette party)... omg that was fantastic! Witches hats, special wands and lewd Harry Potter jokes. I could picture that like a movie running through my head!
This is a great summer, beach read!

I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book as I absolutely loved Getting Hot With The Scot. Melonie has seemed to recreate every bit of what was so magnificent in her first book, but I would even have to say she may have gone one step better with this one.
I loved Bonnie & Theo together. I thought he was the perfect man to help her get over her broken heart. But I think it didn't take her long to realise maybe her heart wasn't so broken after all.
Hopefully we don't have to wait too long for the next book.

I really enjoyed this romp through the United States and England. Bonnie and Theo were fun to follow around. It was slow enough to recover from Bonnie's previous relationship but fast enough to keep the angst and wondering perking. I'm really enjoying this author and especially the relationships from her friends that keep her going.

I was so excited to see this book land on my kindle. I really enjoyed the first book and couldn’t’ wait to get my hands on the next book in the series. I loved Bonnie and Theo.

I enjoyed the slow burn of this book and the way the characters came together. They were acquaintances that turned into friends. Eventually they start having feelings for each other and a romance happens.

Theo and Bonnie were perfect for each other. I loved them in the first book and was so excited to get their book and see the growth between these characters. I recommend reading the first book first, you won’t be disappointed.

Absolutely loved this book and I hadn't read the previous book but there were enough callbacks that I didn't feel like I was missing too much or feeling confused. The characters had undeniable attraction and the slow burn to the romance was great! Fun beach read.

I always have a weakness for British male leads and Theo is certainly a dreamy one! Bonnie is an English professor who seemingly has all of her dreams within reach now that her boyfriend has proposed. She soon finds out he is not the man of her dreams she had hoped for and ends the engagement. She decides this is it for her and love for the foreseeable future until she meets Theo. He could have stepped out of the pages of a romance novel and finding herself in England near him for the summer, she may need to reevaluate her resolution to give up on love. I very much enjoyed this story. Both lead characters were charming and I loved watching their relationship unfold.

Smitten by the Brit is a sweet as sugar story with likable characters and some absolutely hilarious scenes. However, I still came away with mixed feelings. There's some repetition with certain words and phrases that stood out, but most of all, I had a hard time with the romance. And seeing as this is a romance, that can be a problem. Bonnie and Theo are cute together, and they have decent chemistry, but I felt like the story was more about them as individuals than as a couple, and at times it was almost like emotions weren't the most important thing for this pair. In the end, this one was just okay for me. I enjoyed some parts more than others, but it's not something that I'll be remembering in the long term. All in all, it's a cute enough story that would work well for a lazy weekend or beach read.

When Theo and Bonnie meet during a tour of Europe they were both crushing right away. Bonnie however was engaged to another man so she fought her crush with everything she had. Now she is no longer engaged and she is back in England. It's ok to explore their interest now right? This book had great characters and a fun story line. Overall a fun book to read.

I met Theo and Bonnie in book #1 of this series, GETTING HOT WITH THE SCOT,. They had an undeniable attraction in that book even though Bonnie was engaged to be married. How convenient that several months later Bonnie ends her engagement (not her fault) and Theo is there to pick up the pieces. There were obstacles to their union but all seemed to slickly resolve at the books end. I didn't love this story. There was too much immaturity about both of the protagonists and side characters. There certainly was plenty of hot sex. This was not a bad book, just not in my wheel house.

Although this is second in the series and the main characters were introduced in the first book (and you got a hint of their chemistry), this can easily read as a standalone. This was very much a slow burn with but there was some heat. The characters were great and although I know there are more books in the pipeline for Bonnie's circle of friends, I could see a possible book for Theo's sister as well, which could be interesting. That being said, I feel like the all build-up to the "situation" that Theo found himself in re: his family legacy/estate seemed to fizzle out without any real resolution besides him deciding that he wanted to be with Bonnie. It would have been nice to have some more details around how things worked out with that and with Theo's relationship with his mother. Also, maybe I'm vindictive, but I wish there had been more resolution (or payback) regarding Bonne and her wanker of an ex. Regardless, I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in book #3!

Bonnie Blythe is wishing her fiancé, Gabe, could be with her tonight. Gabe is finishing things up to get his doctorate. They have been together since they were children and Bonnie is anxious to be able to start planning their wedding. Tonight, she is attending a gala at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater in honor of the playwright’s birthday. She has been invited by her best friend, Cassie who is engaged to Logan. They are planning to be married in just four months time in Scotland. This depresses Bonnie somewhat as she wants to get her wedding plans started.

Bonnie has a master’s degree and is a professor. Cassie tells her that a faculty member at Cambridge University in the UK wants Bonnie to teach a 6-week Shakespeare seminar there. Bonnie is unsure about it but says she will consider it.

She runs into Theo whom she has met before. He is from the UK and is in the US to attend a charity event where he will escort Lady Camille Fairfax. His mother is trying to match him up with her.

Bonnie decides to head home a bit early and there she finds Gabe in bed with another woman. Furious, she immediately breaks off their engagement and moves out.

When Bonnie learns that Theo is actually the Duke of Emberton, she is surprised and wonders why he wants to keep it a secret. It appears that his father had spent too much money and now the estate is in need of money. That is why his mother is intent on him marrying a Lady Camille Fairfax.

Bonnie heads to the UK for her teaching job at Cambridge and from there to Cassie’s wedding. It will be a busy summer for her and she hopes that she might see Theo as well.

This is cute story that is perfect for people who love romcoms. For someone of my age, I found a lot of it to be silly, so I think it will appeal more to the “younger set.” In addition, I hope you like Shakespeare because you will read a lot about him.

Earlier this year I read, and thoroughly enjoyed, the first book in the Sometimes in Love Series, Getting Hot with the Scot as an early review copy. Since finishing it, I was counting down until I could read the sequel, Smitten by the Brit. I'm happy say that this book lived up to my excitement and expectations (though it was predictable), and was even better than Getting Hot with the Scot.

Smitten by the Brit picks up a few months after Getting Hot with the Scot ends. Bonnie is back to living with her fiance and teaching lectures at her local university. When she discovers that her fiance has been cheating on her, her carefully laid plans are thrown out the window. Enter Theo - the British duke who Bonnie met during her European adventure a few months prior. I won't say too much more about the plot, but I will say it was predictable. Similar to the first book, there was nothing terribly groundbreaking about the story, but it was executed well and featured thoroughly enjoyable characters. It's a fast paced and there were surprisingly few lags in the story - I found it hard to put the book down. In addition to the main plot, there was a lovely subplot focusing on Cassie and Logan, who were planning their upcoming wedding. Having them heavily featured was a nice callback for readers of the first book, and gave this story a depth that I hadn't anticipated.

One major improvement over the first book was that the cast of characters was reduced down to a smaller core cast. Because the group was smaller, all of the characters got more time to develop and were generally more important as individuals to the plot. Bonnie was a thoroughly enjoyable main character - she was a well defined, career driven woman. It was easy to understand her motivations and to root for her - she was level headed even in the face of adversary and really valued (and supported) her friends. Most importantly, we got to see her grow from a dotting, over-trusting doormat of a fiance into a strong, independent woman who isn't afraid of following her dreams.

Of course in a romance book, one of the most important elements is the chemistry between the two lead characters. In the case of Bonnie and Theo, their chemistry is off the charts - even from their first interactions in Getting Hot with the Scot, they had some of the best organic chemistry I've read in a long time. Not only did their chemistry start strong, it improved and naturally grew as they got to know each other more and more.

Smitten by the Brit did what most sequels don't - it took the best parts of the original and was even more enjoyable. It's a fun, romantic romp that will definitely make for a great beach read. I'd highly recommend it to fans of the first book, or just to anyone looking for a good quality romance book this summer. I look forward to reading anything else that Melonie Johnson writes. 4/5.

Smitten by the Brit is a delightful book! Melonie Johnson is a new to me author and I'm so glad to have the chance to read her work. Packed with great characterization, a fun plot and plenty of heart and humor, this one left me with a smile on my face. Can't wait to read more by this author.

Light-hearted fun and just the right amount of sexy. I really enjoyed Bonnie and Theo's story.

Theo was almost a caricature of British Royalty and at times he came across a little cheesy and simple but I could absolutely see that he was so much more than just the well-mannered gentlemen he was raised to be and I love knowing that is was Bonnie that recognized that and allowed him to be his whole self.

They were a perfectly matched couple. I just wish that we had gotten to see them be that couple for more of the book. My favorites scenes were when it was just the two of them and they were really able to get to know each other without all of the distractions and problems from outside factors.

I absolutely fell more in love with these characters than I had in Getting Hot with the Scot. I was happy to see the depth of each of them in their own uniqueness.

I adored Theo and Bonnie in Getting Hot with the Scot, their chemistry was obvious from the moment they met and their interactions were amusing and adorable.

Smitten by the Brit was a sweet, fun read that can be read as a stand-alone but I would recommend reading it after book 1. Considering Bonnie just broke up with her fiance who she's been with for most of her life the romance between her and Theo is a slow-burn. Not too slow though, so don't worry! I just wish they had spent more time together. I understand he's in England and she's not - at first - but their time apart kind of detracted from the romance a bit.
Despite her attraction to Theo, Bonnie is nowhere near ready to jump into another relationship. Theo wants more than just friendship but he'll settle for having her in his life any way he can. When Bonnie suggests a friends-with-benefits arrangement, Theo is on board but neither is prepared for how quickly their feelings develop or the complications that will follow. Between her break-up and his status as a Duke with family obligations- which she FINALLY finds out about - how on earth are they supposed to make it work?

I LOVED all of the Jane Austen references! Not much of a Shakespeare fan personally but I still enjoyed them because well, it's book related and there's nothing better than a romance with a heroine who loves books.

Smitten by the Brit has a good dose of angst mixed with romance and once again, I feel like the secondary characters stole the show. I'm definitely looking forward to Once Upon a Bad Boy to not only see Sadie get her HEA but to revisit this hilarious, amazingly supportive group of friends!

I loved this book and this series! Melonie writes a beautiful romantic tale that had so much substance. I was floored that this book made me cried a few times. But this book will warm your heart and you will love it!

This is the second book in the Sometimes in Love series. This one focuses on Bonnie Blythe and Theo Wharton. I really enjoyed it. The story was humorous and I loved the banter.

Bonnie has been engaged for awhile to her childhood sweetheart, Gabe but not wedding date has been set. They are waiting until Gabe finishes with school. It's been really hard on Bonnie because her best friend is getting married and planning her wedding to a Scot she met just last summer on their vacation.

Then Bonnie finds Gabe in bed with someone else although she seems more concerned about the quilt her grandmother made that is on the bed. Right before that she runs into Theo whom she met on her trip last summer to England. The sparks are still there now and she is not longer engaged to Gabe but Theo does not want to take advantage of the situation even though they are both staying in the same hotel.

I really like Bonnie's friends who she traveled to Europe with last summer. They are such a great support team and lead to some humorous and awkward discussions in the book. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
