I really wanted a chance to read these manga, but unfortunately the files expired before I had a chance to get to them. Based on cover design and description, a majority of the books sound interesting. Perhaps next time I will have time to read the eARC sooner.

This story is a product of a meddling aunt who wants her niece and an old friend to find happiness. So she sets them up on a date but things backfire a bit since Kara was rejected and humiliated by Matthew nine years before. Matthew needs Kara to pretend to be his fiancée so that he convince his father that he is fit to be partner. But as fate would have the charade turns to true love for Matthew and fulfills Kara's wish to love him and be loved by him,

I received a free ARC from Netgalley.

For fans of the fake girlfriend/boyfriend and friends to lovers, this manga romance hits the right buttons. The side characters are strong, the art great, and the story enjoyable.

Book Review
Title: The Tycoon’s Dating Deal
Author: Masaru Urakawa
Genre: Manga
Rating: *****
Review: Now the synopsis for this Harlequin Manga sounds like a good old-fashioned romantic comedy: “Kara’s friend, who runs a matchmaking site, pleads with her to attend a speed-dating party. At the event, she reunites with a man she never imagined she’d see there… Matthew! Matthew was Kara’s first love, the man who coolly turned her down nine years earlier. As a successful lawyer, he should be able to get any woman he wants, so why attend the party? Confused and swept up by the energy of this man who hasn’t changed one bit, Kara finds herself being chosen as his match!”
One of the first things we learn about Kara and Matthew is that they met for the first time when Kara was 8 and Matthew was 14. Kara’s parents had died, and she was taken in by a family friend Sally, who also watched over Matthew whose parents had separated and his new stepmother didn’t spend a lot of time with him. From the moment they meet the pair are inseparable, but the age difference soon makes things difficult for them to be a close. It is Kara who realises as a young woman that she is in love with Matthew but when she tries to make a move, he rejects her harshly and they were never close after that.
Fast forward nearly 20 years from when they first met, Sally asks for Kara’s help with her new dating programme and Kara can’t say no to the woman who is essentially her mother. However, at the speed dating event she learns that her supposedly perfect match is Matthew, now a successful lawyer and Kara doesn’t really want anything to do with him. Matthew sees an opportunity when he sees Kara, his father is unwilling to make him a partner in the law firm because of his reckless playboy lifestyle so he hires Kara to be his girlfriend until he makes partner and she agrees for a large sum of money although she would have done it for nothing because deep down, she still loves Matthew.
From the minute the contract is signed it does nothing but cause trouble and drive a wedge further between this pair. When the announcement of the law firm’s new partner roles around, Matthew isn’t chosen but rather Kara’s ex-boyfriend Steve is. Matthew is heartbroken as all he wanted was to win his father’s approval but, in his anger, he pushes Kara away again. In a nice twist, it is Matthew’s father who apologizes for being emotionally absent all these years and to go after the girl he has loved all his life.
The Tycoon’s Dating Deal has one of the cutest endings ever as Matthew and Kara not only confess their feelings and have a happy relationship, but Sally is able to witness her “children” getting married and all because of her perfect matchmaking programme.

This is a sweet and romantic story about Kara and Matthew who grew up together and then grew apart, only to come back together again when they are matched by a dating app.

Kara only agreed to go to the dating event to help the lady who brought her up when her parents died. She is shocked to find out she has been matched with Matthew who was someone she looked up to when she was a child coping with the loss of her parents. Matthew is now a big time lawyer and a big time womaniser but he needs Kara's help to create a more responsible personal image.

Kara agrees to help him only to find out that her feelings for him haven't changed but these are feelings she must keep hidden.

I thought this was a lovely story. Matthew isn't the playboy Kara thinks he is and as they draw closer together love grows between them, but Matthew also has pain from his childhood that he needs to face before he can truly see the love he has in Kara.

Another classic: kids who grow up together, then do not meet for a while and then fall in love again when they meet again and are older....

Un altro classico senza tempo: bambini che crescono assieme poi si perdono di vista e quando si rivedono si innamorano di nuovo...

THANKS NETGALLEY FOR THE PREVIEW!

Matthew and Kara met when they are kids. They later met again when they are adults during a matchmaking event Kara’s friend is hosting. During their adult encounter, Kara is shy every time she remembers the time when she offers herself to Matthew. Yet after several dramatic situation Kara pretends to be Matthew’s girlfriend and that is where their conflicts begin!

I love this manga-style because the portrayal seems so real. I giggled while reading several scenes in this manga version. The ending? Well, it is cliché but still, it leaves me a sweet impression.

I received this manga from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

We first meet Matthew and Kara when they are tiny kids, and then later when they are both adults. My oh my, did Matthew fill out nicely there! :P

I had a laugh at Sally persuading Kara to sign up for a matchmaking account for an event she is hosting. You just can't say no to Sally (and I laughed at her Yes! face when she got Kara to her side). Though I have to wonder about those questions. I mean I can understand favourite eye colours, or what a romantic dinner entails. But the colour of your underwear? Ummmm. *looks doubtful*

And of course, Matthew is there. I am thinking that Sally planned and plotted this all. She did love these two together, and probably wants them together now. Mm. Good job Sally!

Though then I was a bit eh when we found out how far Kara went to get Matthew back in the days. I thought she was just in love with him, but it really creeped me out that she just stalked him, and even lay in his bed in her lingerie waiting for him. Girl.... Girlllllllll... nooooo. Just noooo. Just get the hint already.

Sadly, Matthew is pretty much a dick, you can't just buy a girl. There is also so much drama. I was just rolling my eyes all the time. Because dear lord these two. Maybe they should just talk first about things instead of doing deals and such like this. Of course, I have seen this plot thousands of times (well, maybe not that much, but you get the idea), and I knew how it would end. *sighs* Sometimes I wish for less predictability. At least we had a rival for a few pages (and then later again), so that at least spiced things up a bit.

Oh, and we are supposed to feel sorry for Matthew? Um, why? Oh boohoohohoo his past was terrible? He has fooled around with tons of girls because of some dramatic bullpoopy reason? Urghhhh, he just needs to find love? Urgggghghhh. *groans*

Can Aunt Sally just for once not be so happy. You can see that Kara is totally sad and destroyed yet you stay preppy and happy. :|

Also what was up with the clothes? Some of them were OK, but some were just disastrous. Like frills everywhere. Or hats that look like they should just have stayed in a garden. Dear heavens.

The ending? I called it! I did! Still, I had a few tears because it was sweet, even if it was highly predictable. :P

The art, well, with the exception of the clothes, was pretty decent.

All in all, a drama-filled cliche story, but I still liked it.
