This was an interesting romance novel that was much more dramatic and crime orientated than I thought it would be. I think certain elements should have been added in sooner as they were added too late into the novel. The characters were interesting and I liked the main romance at the center of this. A couple of the side characters seemed underdeveloped but they were not featured enough to make their 2-d ness be a problem.

I would like to thank NineStar Press and the Netgalley website for this partnership.

I was immediately attracted by this magnificent book cover, you can see the pretty Jessica fading into an island landscape.

It includes Jessica who, following a charge of tax evasion, is on the run. Her company having sunk, she headed for the island of Lindisfarne.

She meets Anna Meyer who offers her hospitality without asking her any questions. As they get to know each other, Jessica will realize that Anna has more serious problems than she does.

A book read in one go so much I hooked on the story so moving, addictive, captivating and full of suspense and twists and turns with very engaging characters.

It would be up to me to buy this book in paper format for its beautiful cover.

The Island Angel had potential but fell flat. I didn't care for some of the content. I read some and skimmed through some. Unfortunately, it's not for me. Thanks to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

This was just as good as I hoped. With the positive early reviews I had my fingers crossed, so I’m happy to say that I enjoyed this one. The best way to describe this would be a romantic-thriller, though there is more romance than thriller. Plus, with this being a NineStar Press book, the price is only 5.99 US which is a good price for a quality and enjoyable lesfic book.

This is a story about two women with a heavy past and a tough present. One is on the run from the law, the other is barely getting by financially. On a small English island, these two women learn to depend on each other. But what will happen when their past catches up with them?

I found myself getting sucked into this book after just a few chapters. I liked these imperfect characters and was hooked into the story. While this book is a romance at heart, there were some good suspenseful moments that keep me turning the pages. The “climax” especially was really exciting to read.

When it came to the romance I was definitely a fan. Yes the relationship does move a little quickly, but it’s still believable. I’m a slow burn romance fan usually but this time this faster pace didn’t bother me at all. These women truly bonded and I really liked them as a potential couple.

There were a few bumps. Like the time a flashback was used and was not needed. I also though the ex hubbie storyline was pointless with everything else going on. But really I’m nitpicking here. The majority of the story really worked.

I’m not sure but this looks to be a debut book for Slorra. That makes this book even more impressive for me. This author is absolutely going on my author to watch list. If you are a romance-thriller fan, chances are high you will enjoy this one.

I really like The Island Angel. This one is about Jessica who is the IT Director of a Software company who is accused of Fraud and purposefully sabotaging her company. She decides to go on the run and ends up on the Island of Lindisfarne and is recused by Anna who is an American and lives on the island. Anna, is recently divorced and is overwhelmed by debt. If she doesn't find a way to make some money, she will lose the farm she got in the divorce.

This book is filled with a ton of twist and turns. The author does a good job at keeping the reader guessing on what will happen next. I was a nervous wreck the entire time I was reading. I admit that I went to the end of the book to make sure they would be okay when I got to about 40% of the book. The island Angel is well written and I really liked the supporting characters. The author does a good job at showing the chemistry between the MC's. Even though the pace of the book moves quickly, I didn't feel like the love connect between the MCs was forced.

I give this one 4 stars.

It was hard for me to get into this book at first. It was difficult for me to follow for some reason. But after the first chapter, it found a rhythm.

Jessica is a corporate tech leader who finds herself at the center of a massive systems failure that causes a disastrous drop in company market value. All signs point to her purposely planning this for her own financial gain. She has to flee town to buy some time while she figures how she can prove her innocence.

Anna is a recently divorced woman who is financially strapped and trying to keep her farm alive. She stumbles upon a down and out Jessica who has run out of petrol and no money because her accounts have been frozen. She offers housing in exchange for helping out on the farm.

Both women have some significant trauma from their teenage years that continues to haunt them.

Even though the length of time was relatively short, it felt like the relationship between Jessica and Anna blossomed naturally. The heavy secrets they shared and addressed together created a solid bond.

There was some mystery, suspense, and a touch of action.

Some characters were not really necessary for the plot..And there was an ex to create unnecessary drama.

Overall, this was an entertaining read that I would recommend.

Two girls carrying baggage from the past; and not just relationship baggage at that. The author has created two very interesting characters, Anna and Jessica in this book. Not only are they interesting, both are really nice too.

Twenty-nine year old Anna is a recently divorced American, choosing to stay in a remote island in UK. She is on the verge of bankruptcy and is struggling to make ends meet plus bring up her teenaged daughter. Jessica, a successful IT Director is on the verge of resigning when her world comes crashing down and she is accused of fraud. Panicked, she takes off without any means, money or friends. Her one slim hope is an ex-girlfriend with whom things hadn’t ended well. Jessica finds herself stranded and Anna comes to her rescue.

The relationship between Anna and Jessica could have been made a little more involving if their interactions before getting together had been a little more developed. Their conversations and emotional arcs as they proceed are thoroughly engaging, especially Anna’s fearlessness in plunging towards where her heart leads. But a little more would’ve been welcome.

The author adds urgency with both their worst nightmares catching up with them, but the edge-of-seat thrill doesn’t come through. Though, on the whole, this is a fairly nice enough read. We want to give it a 4, but have to go with a 3.5 rounded up to 4.

I received an ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Anna just gotten divorce and she lives dilapidated farmhouse on Holy Island in Northern UK where she raising her daughter Abbie although she feels alone she knows this is best place she feels safe.

Jessica was a successful IT Director but when she get frames she goes on the run and this is where she encounter Anna who offer her place to stay exchange for help.

As Anna and Jessica grow closer they both have traumatic incidents in their past that hasn't been resolve.

I like both characters they are strong but have a vulnerable to them that makes them perfect for each other.

It was engaging thrilling with a great climax.

Ps
The goat Kermit was funny always attacking Jessica.

This was an unexpected and wonderful read. It hasn’t been reviewed or rated yet and the blurb is brief so I wasn’t entirely sure what I was going to get. American Anna Meyer has just divorced her English husband but doesn’t want to leave her dilapidated farmhouse on Holy Island in Northern UK. Although she feels isolated from the community she feels the remote island is the safest place for her and her 14-year-old daughter. Her one big problem is that she only has enough money to survive for about four months. On her way home one day she comes across a woman who seems in need of help and is also trapped on the island because the tide has come in and covered the causeway to the mainland. Jessica is desperate and on the run. She’s been accused of fraud by her company, her bank accounts frozen and when she found police trying to get into her house she panicked and ran. Jessica and Anna find their interactions really easy but both of them have traumatic incidents in their past which have not yet been laid to rest.

I was riveted from the moment I started reading. Anna is an interesting character. She’s strong and determined to succeed in spite of her current adversity but she carries the trauma of her past every time she closes her eyes. Jessica isn’t like anyone she’s met before and she’s not sure how to deal with the ease she feels when she’s around. Jessica’s present situation has her not sure whether to run or stay. What starts off as a fairly gentle story of two women getting to know each other and finding that they complement each other, gets more and more sinister with each chapter. The tension that builds is multifaceted, not relying on just one thread of the story line, which makes it really dynamic. In short, it’s a thrill ride. But there is also a good balance between romance and suspense.

There was only one thing that bothered me and that was there is a flashback that didn’t seem necessary and broke the flow of the present. The character with the flashback was going to have to tell the story to at least two of the characters and it would have been much more emotive and powerful if it had be done as dialogue with the respective characters. There is so much good dialogue that it wouldn’t have been a stretch to work it in.

It’s gripping, the characters are engaging and the climax is totally thrilling. The writing and location appealed to me. If this is a debut novel, I’m all in for another from the author.

Book received from Netgalley and NineStar Press for an honest review.
