Mimi Huish is visiting her dad far out in the countryside when she bumps into the lovely Cal Mathieson who happens to live in the cottage just round the corner from him. She is dedicated to her career so only manages to visit occasionally but their paths keep crossing. It’s a long and tortuous route to love in this book and enjoyable. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A good, entertaining and fun read. It made me laugh and root for the characters.
I loved the engaging plot, the cast of characters, and the setting.
It was a very good reading experience and I hope to read other books by this author soon.

Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. I liked this book but I did not love it and not sure why as it was a typical Jill Mansell book.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book. This did not influence my review.

Another fun read by Jill Mansell. Sometimes, you just want a good chick lit book where you know exactly how it's going to end even before you ever pick it up, and this definitely did it well. It wasn't necessarily my favorite Jill Mansell book, but it didn't disappoint.

Drove me a little nuts to read about the character eating "fries" in the middle of the Cotswolds (instead of "chips,") and I also didn't love how the main love interest was made single (don't want to give it away,) but the ending was worth it.

Mimi left London to visit her dad. He resided in a small rural English town called Goosebrook. Along the way, Mimi spotted a man wrestling with a sheep. After confronting the man, it became evident that she had misread the situation completely. Cal, however, was sweet to Mimi and eased her embarrassment. Mimi’s mind began to fill with romantic fantasies about Cal until he informed her that he was happily married. Even though Cal’s news crushed Mimi’s spirits, she didn’t allow it to affect their friendship. She also developed a closeness to Cal’s daughter and wife.

When tragedy struck the small town of Goosebrook, neighbors banned together or disappeared into their own private worlds. Mimi returned to her life in London. And, even though Cal never expressed romantic feelings for Mimi, she obsessed about him anyway. Years later, Mimi traveled back to Goosebrook. And, as expected, people’s lives had changed, including Cal’s.

Although this book has a thread of sadness running through it, it also has a hefty dose of humor. Most of the characters in this book are likable. Although I didn’t become emotionally invested in any particular character, the story itself was an enjoyable read; captivating and entertaining. Jill Mansell knows how to spin a tale.

Thank you, Sourcebooks-Landmark and NetGalley, for my advanced review copy.

This is a good, entertaining book. I even liked the cover-it made me smile each time I opened the book. Mimi is the heroine. She’s a modern girl. Her parents are divorced and her Father is living in the small countryside with his new love interest, Marcus. But Mimi isn’t embarrassed that he’s now gay, she’s glad he’s happy. Cal is the love interest of the book. But when Mimi first meets Cal he’s married and has a daughter. And that’s all the story I am going to reveal. It’s well written and the characters are nicely developed. I would read another book by this author. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an advance copy for my honest review.

Another book by Jill Mansell that doesn’t disappoint!
This story focuses on Mimi and her rollercoaster life, finding herself is Gorsebrook she falls for the gorgeous Cal, but timing as they say is everything!
We see Mimi suffer heartbreak, grief and ultimately happiness.
A fabulous read, so glad I was able to read it. Would highly recommend

This is both a happy and sad read.

Mimi leaves her job and goes to live with her dad and his husband for a while. She falls hopelessly in love with Cal, the local single dad and his daughter Cora. However Cal is still in love with his ex wife. Tragedy happens and Mimi is pulled away to go and live abroad being a famous writers assistant and doesnt go back for many years.

Life moves on and things change but can Mimi find her way back to Cal and will Cal realise what Mimi is offering?

A very charming and good read, Jill never fails to disappoint.

Love Jill Mansel! I could not put this book down. I feel like it wasn't your typical love story where boy meets girl. Throwing in the car accident and small town rumors and life really made you hope that Mimi and Cal would eventually find their happy ending

A great book with balanced light and shade that made for a very enjoyable quick read. I loved the characters in this book and would happily read more about the same people. Thanks NetGalley!

I discovered Jill Mansell a few years ago with "Take a Chance On Me," and LOVED her. Since then, I have been reading every other of her pieces that I can get my hands on. I love her energetic style of writing and that her books are primarily written in the UK. Her books make for a fun "vacation" and this one was no different. I loved the characters in this one; they were so intriguing! Jill Mansell's novel provides a fun escape of a story. Thank you, Netgalley, for this ARC!

I have never been bored with this book! I am so happy to have read it! This is very good chicklit, very very very good! I recommend this book to all of you ladies!!!!

Jill mansel is a seasoned pro in this type of book and her new novel won’t disappoint. She has a real talent at keeping you interested, keeping you invested in her characters and keeping the plot moving to avoid boredom even if you predicted the ending from the start.

I liked that this book has slightly darker patches than you would normally get from romantic fiction.
The characters also felt modern and fresh

Overall it was a good easy read which ticks all the right boxes.

I love Jill Mansell. I will read every single book she ever writes and I am so thankful that I got to read this one months before it comes out!! These characters just gripped me, like they do in every one of her novels. Cal is just the sweetest and Mimi adores him so much! I won’t spoil it for you, so just go read it and see what happens!!

The girl gets the boy in the end so no spoiler there!
The story was very predictable but I did enjoy the journey to get there as there were a few it wont happen moments between the main character Mimi and the hunky artist Cal.
Nice easy read no complaints but not my favourite Jill Mansell novel.
