Miranda Lisasson’s The Way You Love Me is the second book in her Angel Falls series. There is one passage early on that set the tone for me and gave me the impetus to read the book in its entirety…. romantic that I am:

“When Gabby thought of happiness, of the life of her dreams, other things besides money came to mind. Like sitting on a big, old front porch on a hot summer evening, sipping iced tea and holding hands with someone. Kissing while lying on a blanket and making love under the stars, the piney scent of the woods fresh and clean. Having a love like her grandparents had known, which had endured for decades.

She’d never had an experience like that, a soul mate who made her feel that she was exactly where she should be in her life, with the person she was meant to be with. Where she could slow down enough to enjoy a good book and a cup of tea or knit a friend a baby gift or go for a long, cleansing bike ride through the parks just outside of town.”

This passage also made me want a HEA for Gabby. And in order to know whether she gets that or not, I had to read… It was a very pleasant book to read, many interesting characters and the flow of the story was easy to follow and kept my interested throughout.

Gabby is a people pleaser… always has been…always will be (or will she). I think in order for Gabby to truly be happy and FINALLY decide what SHE wants to do with her life (as opposed to doing what she thinks people want her to do – i.e. lawyer) she needs to become a bit more selfish. Become introspective and then fight for what she truly wants.

In Gabby’s role as a people pleaser, she even became a successful (albeit bored) lawyer as that was what was expected of her – not what she wanted to do. Gabby has harboured dreams of becoming a writer. In an effort to further this dream, Gabby has enrolled in a writing class at the university. And as one could guess… the professor is none other than homeboy made good as a successful writer – Caden Marshall. Now this is certainly not good for Gabby as a hunky professor as a distraction is not good… for either of them.

Caden has returned to Angel Falls, Ohio to regroup. He has moved back to town with his young daughter Ava after the break up of his marriage. Caden has secured a professorship at the local university, which is important as he has writer’s block and is unable to produce a follow-up to his highly successful first novel. While getting his life back on track is his only priority… he has one student in his class that he just cannot get out of his mind…. Gabby. And from the moment they met, you could tell the sparks would fly.

One particular passage certainly provided the words that expressed the heat between Caden and Gabby. At this point, Caden is apologizing to Gabby:

“I’m sorry,” he said. “For how I behaved. I was upset about my father, and I took it out on you.”

“Then we’re good,” she said. “You could’ve said that over the phone though.”

“No, I couldn’t have.”

“Why not?”

“Because I needed to do this.” And then his mouth was on hers, kissing her deep and hard, not a hello kiss or a you-look-beautiful-kiss, but an I-am-going-to-strip-you-naked-and-kiss-every-inch-of-you-and-have-fabulous-make-up-sex kiss that made every part of her instantly turn to Jell-O. His mouth possessed her, his tongue invaded her mouth, and he made it quite clear that her was very, very sorry.

I really enjoyed the fact that the story had more to it than just the coming together of the main characters. Each had their own baggage that needed to be worked through (both individually and as a potential couple). I got a chuckle numerous times from Caden’s mom…. she was priceless. The love story captured my interest but the other storylines allowed the book to have a greater depth, which turned out to enhance my reading experience. Even a mystery needed to be solved!

Overall, a well rounded love story crafted by Miranda Liasson. The next step for me will be to seek out and read book one of the series, Then There Was You.

Gabby has always tried to please others over herself, even though by all accounts she is a successful woman. Now, she is doing something strictly for herself. Caden has done things his own way, but now he has to think of his daughter first. Can these two find a way to meld the lives they both feel they must live, and find the find the life they want? By turns funny and poignant, and great read.

So happy to finally get a chance to read The Way You Love Me. I love this series. This is the second book in Miranda Liasson’s Angel Falls series. Everything about this series so far has been so charming. The Langdon family, the small town setting, the relationships and the overall vibe just pulls you into the lives of these characters.

So, The Way You Love Me dove into Gabby’s life. I really liked Gabby. I saw so much of myself in her and really found her such a breath a fresh air. She is beautiful, smart and such the people pleaser. That doesn’t always give you the best out of life and she has sure had her woes, especially in the love department. Taking a leap for once doing something she loves for herself, she decides to explore her passion for writing with the aspirations of being an author. Lucky for her, the class she takes is being talk by someone who knows a bit about being a successful author but she discovers, it’s sort of hard to concentrate when your teacher is Mr. McDreamy.

Cade knows a little bit of success. He made his dream come true and became a bestselling author for his debut book. You’d think that would be a great thing except for his jealous ex wife. When she accused him of stealing her ideas and slandered his reputation, Cade found himself unable to continue his passion as a writer. After his divorce, and wanting to make a new start, Cade returns to Angel Falls and secures a teaching position to rejuvenate his life and make a stable life for him and his daughter. Then one day, walks into his life the key to unlock his greatest story.

I can’t say enough how reading one of Miranda’s books makes me feel so good. She brings her characters in your heart and life in a way that you want to know them. Besides Gabby, I love the familial influence supporting her in the book. Nonna is such a gem and brings something special with her wit and endearing charm. Small town stories are always so charming and the obstacles and struggles that both Gabby and Cade had between their insecurities and hurt from their previous relationships gave an authenticity to their journey built up a want to invest in them. In anticipation of the next book, thank goodness it will be about Rafe. We need to know why he won’t make the leap. Overall, wonderful addition to the series. By the way, you will get a treat with a novella in the book by the lovely Alison Bliss. Add this one to your TBR.

I've been waiting to read The Way You Love Me by Miranda Liasson. I loved her first book in the Angel Falls series where Gabby was introduced and I wanted Gabby to find her soulmate too.

Gaby Langdon just recently made partner at her law firm. She works hard and long hours. Before deciding to be a lawyer, she took many classes to see what inspired her. In the end, she decided to go for a job that she knew would pay the bills and her father would approve. Yet, she has always had the desire to write. When she finds her mother's manuscript she decides to join a creative writing class to feel a connection to her deceased mother. What she wasn't expecting was to fall for her teacher.

Cade Marshall is a famous writer. A one-hit-wonder after his ex-wife proclaimed she gave him all his ideas for his book. After this awful occurrence, Cade developed a huge writer's block. He's not sure he can write another book. Cade moves back to Angel Falls after accepting a job as a professor in a creative writer's class. Cade just wants a stable job to help sustain his three-year-old daughter. Having the hots for his student was not part of his low-profile plan.

I liked both Gaby and Cade. Gaby was always supportive, a good sister and super nice to Cade's daughter. Cade was good at his job and as soon as he realized he was in trouble for falling for Gaby, he tried to keep his distance.

The Way You Love Me was a super cute small town romance. A fast read full of engaging characters.

At the end of The Way You Love Me, we get a glimpse into the next couple. Rafe (Gaby's brother) and Katilyn's story is next.

Cliffhanger: No

4/5 Fangs

Gabby is a lawyer with the dream of being a writer. When she signs up for a college writing class with best-selling author Cade she never expected to be so distracted by her attraction to him.
Cade’s back in the small town of Angel Falls as a recently single father to 4 year old Ava. He moved home to be closer to family, teach writing to provide a stable life for his daughter & to avoid his ex-wife.

The Way You Love Me is a sweet story of love, family & finding yourself. Gabby became a lawyer to please her father. She’s taken all sorts of classes in hopes of finding her niche. After finding a box of her mother’s writing she realizes it’s exactly what she’d like to do. But she worries about upsetting her father.
Cade wrote a bestseller, but after his ex-wife accuses him of stealing her ideas & his father left a less than stellar review, he’s quit writing. He knows he can’t possibly get involved with Gabby as one of his students, but she makes him want to write again.

I really enjoyed this story. I liked that Cade put his daughter first & had true issues that single parents encounter. I also really liked that Ava was a big part of the book. Nothing worse than an author having a child in their story but the child is always conveniently not around. It’s unrealistic. Luckily that’s not the case in this story. I had a hard time connecting with Gabby. I don’t understand how an intelligent woman would go all the way through law school, pursue a career as a lawyer just to please her father. I didn’t like that she was too insecure to bring it up to her father sooner, knowing he’d love her no matter what.

I absolutely love the town of Angel Falls! From the legend of kissing by the fountain to the local coffee shop & the townspeople. Gabby & Cade’s story was really adorable. I’m so excited for the Christmas book with Rafe & Kaitlyn’s story.

The Way You Love me is book number two in the Angel Falls Series. It is a book about a delightful small town romance .
While Gabby and Cade meet through a mutual interest in writing , they both have to work on their own personal lives before they can move forward . Their story takes you on a heartwarming and emotional journey.
I received a copy of this Book from Netgalley for my honest opinion.

Going into The Way You Love Me, I really wanted to love it as much as I loved the first book in the Angel Falls series. See, I accidentally downloaded the arc of Then There Was You and I was completely enchanted and it became one of my favorite books of 2018. When I started reading The Way You Love Me, I wanted the same spark that I felt before. Sadly, it left me with some mixed emotions.

Gabby Langdon is a pleaser. She went to Law School to make her father happy. When she should be celebrating the fact that she was recent promoted to partner, she finds herself bored. Always up for a creative outlet, she decides to follow her dreams of being a writer like her mom and signs up for a creative writing class. Also recently single, she's not quite prepared for the sudden spark she feels after a chance encounter in the parking lot before her first class.

Cade Marshall is in the slump, both professionally and personally. After his name was drug through the mud from his ex-wife, Cade hasn't had the inspiration to write another novel. Needing a change of scenery, he returns home to Angel Falls with his young daughter and starts teaching at the local college. The last thing he was expecting was the spark he felt after he stole Gabby's parking spot.

Overall, I enjoyed The Way You Love Me. I loved the characters. Gabby and Cade were both fantastic. Ava was flipping adorable. The secondary storyline between Kaitlin and Rafe has me sitting on pins and needles for their book. The spark that was missing in the book was the relationship between Gabby and Cade. I love a good "will they/won't they" love story. Waiting for the moment when the couple is going to give in to temptation usually keeps me wanting more. However, with Gabby and Cade I had 2 issues. The first is that the whole "will they/won't they" lasted a bit too long and I lost interest. It got to the point where I actually skipped ahead a bit just to make sure that they do eventually get together. The second issue I had was that while I love forbidden romances, the student/professor relationship between them felt a bit juvenile. Now that's not necessarily a bad thing. I love that they handled it with maturity and grace, but it was like I was reading a new adult book rather than an adult contemporary.

All in all, I did enjoy The Way You Love Me. Did I love it as much as the first book in the series? No. Do I want to read the 3rd book? Hell yeah. I cannot wait for Kaitlin and Rafe's book. I wanted to feel the spark that I felt with The Way You Love Me and I didn't.

Three and a half stars: A nice romance with a charming small town setting and a close tight knit family.

Gabby is excited to start her writing class, she has long dreamed of becoming and author. She isn’t quite sure how she will manage to write with the demands of her job, but she is determined to make it work. Unfortunately, her first class doesn’t start out well when a man rudely snatches her parking spot right out from under her. The man is at least decent enough to apologize, but Gabby is still fuming. Then she discovers that very same man is her professor, one Caden Marshall, famous writer returned home. The more time Gabby spends with Caden, the less she can deny the sparks of attraction, but Caden has baggage plus he is her professor. Will romance finally find Gabby?
What I Liked:
*After reading Then There Was You last year, I was excited to reconnect with the Langdon family in the charming town of Angel Falls. Even though this is the second book in the series, it is a companion novel so you can jump in and read it now. This was a rather straightforward romance without a lot of drama, which is always refreshing.
*Gabby is a fun main character. I liked that she is smart, driven and even though she has made partner at her law firm, she is always striving to improve herself and branch out. I admired that she wanted to try writing. I also loved that she was smart and sassy. Caden on the flip side is a bit more low key. He is reeling after his divorce and stalling in his writing career. What I admired the most about Caden was his devotion to his young daughter. He is kind and has a big heart.
*The Langdon family is delightful. I loved catching up with the family since I first met them in book one. My favorite character is Gabby’s Nona. She is suffering from dementia so sometimes she says exactly what is on her mind with no filter. I loved Nona’s feistiness. It was also a delight to see how Sara and Colton were doing as well as seeing Rafe. I look forward to Rafe’s book next.
*I appreciated that the romance is rather straightforward without unnecessary drama or angst. Yes, there are some stumbles and set backs, but all in all it was simple. I liked that the two became friends and helped one another first before it progressed.
*I enjoyed seeing Caden work through his conflicts with his father. Their relationship was fraught with difficulty but thanks to Gabby and Rafe’s young daughter, things begin to thaw. It is always nice to see family members work out their differences.
And The Not So Much:
*There were a couple of points that bothered me. At the beginning of the book, Gabby makes partner in her law firm and she is worried about her workload. However, she always seems to have time to do everything, and she is rarely at work. I found it hard to believe she was a busy lawyer because she had time to do everything. The whole plot line involving Tony, Caden’s fellow professor, was a little ridiculous. It felt thrown in, not believable. I also didn’t think the whole issue of Gabby and Caden dating was a big deal since they were both adults.
*I found myself wishing for a bit more of Colton and Sara, especially when it came to Sara’s big news, I wish that part had played out on scene.
*There was a conflict with Caden’s ex wife, but it plays out off scene. I felt like this was a big piece to the story, and I didn’t like that it was glossed over. I wanted to see Caden confront her.
*The romance was nice, but I felt like it got a little rushed, especially at the end. I wish there was more buildup.
*I loved that Gabby was following in her deceased mother’s footsteps with her writing career. There was a story line involving Gabby’s mother’s writing, and then it was dropped, I wanted to know more about her mother’s story.

The Way You Love Me is a nice romance that pairs well with its companion predecessor Then There Was You. I enjoyed the tight knit family, the small town setting and the simple romance. There were a few small issues but overall it was a pleasant read, perfect for those who want a lighter romance.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own, and I was not compensated for this review.

THE WAY YOU LOVE ME is the second book in Miranda Liasson's Angel Falls series. Gabby Langdon and Caden Marshall find each other at the moment in their lives when they're both at a crossroads. Both are looking to move on from bad relationships in the past and find something professionally that satisfies them. Caden is looking for a steady professorship to provide stability for his young daughter, and Gabby has a steady job but is looking for a career that speaks to her soul. That Gabby enrolls in the writing class that Caden is teaching seems like fate. I love how this hero and heroine are two good-hearted people who inspire each other.

Because Miranda Liasson tells THE WAY YOU LOVE ME from alternating perspectives, the reader gets a good sense of who the main characters are and what drives them. Caden has been burned in the past -- both personally and professionally by his ex-wife and by his father. These past hurts haunt him, but he is a great father to his daughter despite them. The betrayal by his ex is a mental block to Caden writing fiction again, but Gabby proves to be his muse and helps him get back his joy for writing and life. Gabby has always searched for an occupation that feels like her niche, but never quite found it. Lately, finding her late mother's early writings have inspired her to give writing a try and see if it winds up being more than a passing fancy for her. Caden and Gabby try to do what they feel is the "right" thing, while still giving their burgeoning relationship a chance. Miranda Liasson seamlessly blends enchanting sentiment with breath-catching sexy times. Any angst comes from the direction of Gabby's brother Rafe and his seemingly hopeless attraction to longtime family friend Kaitlyn.

THE WAY YOU LOVE ME is about two people who find their sense of purpose and true love at the same time. I eagerly await Miranda Liasson's next Angel Falls novel. Rafe and Kaitlyn appear to have a rocky road to romance ahead of them, but I'm dying to see how it eventually works out.

Super fun read with all the right pieces - great characters, interesting plot, and the supporting cast/setting were charming, to be sure. Gabby and Caden had serious chemistry from the beginning and fought it just about as hard as you can. I enjoyed their story.

Ms. Liasson has a talent for developing characters and plots that immediately draw you in and hold your attention to the very end of the story. This is story about a writer suffering from writer's block, who winds up teaching a creative writing class to adults and a lawyer, who secretly wants to be a writer and is one of his students. The interactions between the characters and the ups and downs of a developing romance are wonderfully fleshed out in this delightful novel. I was given an ARC of the book and have voluntarily chosen to write this review. I can honestly say that I thoroughly enjoyed the book and can heartily recommend it.

Gabby is a people pleaser. She has never put herself first. She decides to sign up for a writing class at the local community college taught by a local bestseller. She is determined to write a best selling book and is not looking for an distractions. Caden is recently divorced and is unable to write his second book. He comes home to his hometown in Angels Falls to teach and raise his young daughter. He is determined to make a good life for him and his daughter, and cannot let his attraction to his best student derail his teaching career. I loved this book. This book made me experience all kinds of emotions joy, laughter, sadness and hope.

A sweet romance with plenty of family "help" and interesting characters. Gabby is hard not to love and root for.

The Way You Love Me is Miranda Liasson's second book in the small town romance series, Angel Falls. Gabby is a people pleaser and it's been awhile since she did something just for herself. Cade is a brooding single father with a chip on his shoulder. Writing brings them together and introduces them to a possibility of following their hearts. A great small town love story that will have readers clamoring for more.

What I liked:

You know that situation that happens when you meet somebody that you have potential with... the one where you start out on the wrong foot? Maybe you can't stand each other, or you end up embarrassing yourself in a big way. That's exactly what happens with Gabby and Cade. It's not love at first sight and I liked that. It's a lot more down to earth and a lot more believable than some books in the romance genre. Liasson always brings the small town charm but this one has something more... it's relatable.

I think authors who write in the contemporary romance genre always run the risk of adding too much pop culture or not enough. You don't want to date the book per se but you want the audience to feel like these characters are living a life they could live or that they are experiencing the same things they could experience. I think Liasson did a great job with that balance. From Gabby's choice of taking a community ed class in creative writing to Cade's YouTube research on hair braiding lol... That was a great touch.

You can't talk about what you like about this book without mentioning, Nonna and the other secondary characters like Gabby's brother, Rafe, who happens to get his story in the next book in the series. Liasson has a wonderful way of getting her characters to interact with the community at large. Angel Falls is a great little town with lots of interesting people. Makes a reader want to move in and get to know people.

I enjoyed the main couple, Gabby and Cade very much. They had something in common. The desire to write. I'm a sucker for books about books or writing. Maybe they feature a writer or a librarian or something of that sort. Liasson hit all the write buttons for me on this front. The creativity that brought these two together was interesting. I could feel Cade's frustration at his writers block and I could feel Gabby's excitement at finding a connection to her mother and in following her passion.

You get more than just a little teaser at the end of this one with a preview of the next book. You also get a very good novella from Alison Bliss... soooo good you gotta read it!

What I didn't Like:

Sometimes there just isn't anything I don't like lol... It happens. This one was sweet and easy to read. It was one of those books that the characters just get under your skin. The families and the people around them are just as fleshed out as the main couple and you find yourself just wanting to read more. That's what makes this one a five apple read...

Bottom Line:

Small town romances are a favorite of mine. Maybe they don't have all the glits and glam of thriller but they just make you feel good. This is one of those stories that doesn't have police chases or huge dramatic struggles. But it doesn't need it. It's well written. It's easy to relate to and the characters are people you'd want to meet in the coffee shop or the supermarket. Loved it!

This is such a wonderful feel good story about family, friends and the pursuit of happiness. The Way You Love Me is the first book by Miranda Liasson that I've read and I'm already clamoring for the next book in this series and planning on reading book 1 ASAP. I fell in love with this little community and the entire Langdon family. Liasson's writing left me feeling all the warm fuzzies.

Focused on the youngest daughter Gabby, this is as much about finding oneself as finding love. Early on I had a connection moment with Gabby Langdon where I thought maybe Ms Liasson knew me and thought she sneak in an observation about me. I TOO LOVE to take classes, to learn about things, doing things, even if I don't perfect the activity. Unlike Gabby, who seems to master mostly everything. Anyway, when Lawyer Gabby enrolls for a creative writing class and meets the handsome writer/professor Cade Marshall I was elated. I particularly love this description of their interaction and what it prophesies:

"Cade watched her go. The old metal clock on the wall gave a loud click as the metal hand jolted forward, as if marking the moment that something in his life had just shifted"

Cade and Gabby find their lives intertwining and although the whole teacher/student dynamic is a no-no, after all you can't help who you fall for. Gabby quickly learns it's a two-fer where Cade is concerned as his adorable daughter Ava is big part of the package.

This was such a sweet and fun read. I loved everything about it, the plot line light on angst but just enough to remind the reader that life is complicated and falling in love is hard, but also glorious. The myriad cast of characters, her Nonna, her friend Kaitlin and sister Sara, and brother Rafe push the plot along. And I thoroughly enjoyed Cade's character and the complexities of his family. I highly recommend this to one an all lovers of contemporary romance and look forward to visit Angela Falls more!

For some reason this story about Gabby and Cabe just felt off to me at times. I read the first book and it seemed to flow a little better. The beginning of the book has Gabby making partner at the law firm she works at, but she still feels like she is missing something. That part of the story and her relationship with her Nona I got and actually liked. Then you have Cabe you was a successful writer but because of a bitter divorce and his ex-saying he stole her ideas for the best seller he has not been able to write again. Now moving back to his home town with his soon to be four year old daughter he has taken a job as an instructor at a local college. The first meeting between Gabby and Cade is funny and good for the story as is the second one. The characters I knew from the first book but still for some reason I just felt like for me this story was off a little, that maybe Cabe was doing everything slow like the tires of Gabby bike. Around and around but really not getting anywhere. Gabby put herself out their but not him maybe that was it. The ending made up for some of the other slow parts but I was expecting a little more. now I am looking forward to Kaitlyn’s and Rafe’s story which looks really interesting.

This is a great series and The Way You Love Me is a fantastic addition!

Gabby and Cade have great chemistry. Gabby is a fun and sassy character. Cade is a slightly grumpy author turned professor. I loved watching them work through their relationship.

I can't wait to read the next book!

Another great book in this series. Miranda know how to write a great love story with emotion.
Gabby wants love, a family and to write. When she meets Cade her new writing teacher there is a instant attraction but he is emotionally guarded and not looking for Love. He has a precious daughter Ava.
This book is full of emotion. Love, laughter and break my heart moments. I love the family’s and friends. They are well written in andbI am so excited to read the next book. This book left my heart full and crying with happiness.

Gabby has a successful career and still doesn't feel that sense of accomplishment that should've came of it. So now shes dabbling again and wants to try at being a writer, she enjoyed writing in the past maybe she'd try her hand at that. Caden is a best selling author that seems to have fallen from grace and had writers block. For now he's working as a writing teacher and can't seem to catch a break where Gabby his student seems to be finding him at his worse.

Sheesh in the beginning Caden just couldn't catch a break and I loved getting to see how Gabby reacted to certain situations and seeing how they were with eachother. This is such a cute contemporary romance and I really enjoyed seeing how the book progressed. I loved how supportive and well meaning Gabbys family was, it was interesting seeing the different family dynamics Caden and Gabby had. Just know that if you are looking for a cutesy contemporary romance consider reading this book.
