I have to tell you that I think I like The Way You Love Me more then I did Then There Was You. And I really enjoyed Then There Was You. So to me that's saying a lot.

I think you'll also fall in love with these two characters. Both have their issues, but it's how they deal with them that you've got to respect. Gabby comes off as a flighty woman who can't settle. She jumps for the this to that. You wonder if she'll be able to ever get her act together and what's driving her.

As the book goes on you start to figure out why she's the way she is and that flighty is the last word you should use, or I guess that was me, not you who used flighty. Ha!

Caden is another fish. He's a father of a little girl and for those that follow me they know that's a trigger for me. Love me a single father.

He comes off as a asshole in the beginning but just like Gabby you find there is more to him that meets the eye.

I really enjoyed how these two figured out they are in love. It's not a straight shoot but when it does happen it's well worth it. I liked how at times you didn't know if who you thought of them was right or if they really were the was they came off. Love when characters have depth.

Layers are what make a romance.

The Caden's daughter adds even more to the story and you also visit with some of the characters you enjoyed from the first book in the series.

I really enjoyed Gabby & Cade's story. Miranda Liasson does a good job at combining romance & drama in her Angels Falls series. I like the small town storylines & the introduction of new characters, as well as revisiting old characters that I have come to know & like. She has a nice mix of love & lust, without being graphic in detail. I look forward to the next installment in the series.

I enjoyed this story, but had a few moments of disconnect. There were instances where the momentum picked up and I was happily enjoying the ride, but there were others that I couldn't connect to the characters.

There were moments where I felt that Gabby and Cade's story together was strong, and was overshadowed by their own back stories. There were moments that had me back track and reread through pages to absorb.

For me, the story was enjoyable, but it was just okay.

Favorite Quotes:

“I haven’t been out in the sun much this summer, Nonna. But now that I’m partner, I’ll get some color.” She was lying through her teeth. She might never see the light of day again.

“When you’re eighty-nine years old,” Nonna said, “you can have all the donuts you want.” “Aren’t you, like, only eighty, Nonna?” Rafe asked. “I don’t know, but I’m old enough to have another donut if I want one.” … Nonna licked some cream off her thumb. “Don’t ever let anyone tell you not to eat donuts,”

As he leaned toward her, she couldn’t help noticing that he smelled delicious, like some spicy man soap that made her want to sneak into his bathroom and inhale the bar.

Cade gave his dad a look. The water under their combined bridges could drown someone.

My Review:

I am grooving on this Angel Falls series, The Way You Love Me was another delightfully satisfying and disarming read that would be easy to follow regardless of whether the first book was read or not, although I can highly recommend and enjoyed reading Then There Was You as well. I am always struck by the agile and insightful quality of Ms. Liasson’s writing. Her storytelling is so smooth, lushly described, and easy to follow that it rolls seamlessly with keen visuals through my gray matter. She deftly tucks in clever levity, thoughtful details, and other extra special touches that elevate the caliber from good to exceptional while providing additional texture and vibrancy to her characters as well as a highly pleasurable reading experience. And I adored these enticing characters as much as I did their engaging storylines. I particularly enjoyed the creativity of the full grovel experience and the amusing unpredictability of the elderly Nonna.

This is a fantastic small town romance that I absolutely adored. Gabby and Caden are great characters and they fit perfectly together. Gabby is a people pleaser, always following the path others have laid out for her. She does have a secret passion and that's writing. She would love to lose the day job and write full time but the best she can do is a creative writing class at the local college. That's where she meets Caden Marshall. He's a well known published author with a severe case of writer's block. Teaching is the next best thing. Problem is being attracted to one of your students could get him in all kinds of hot water. The pull between them is strong though. Can they wait until she's no longer his student? What will happen then?

Great read with some amazing writing and characters. Put this on the must read list, I highly recommend it.

Gabby Langdon is a people pleaser. She became a lawyer to please her father. What she really wants to do is write books. She enrolled in a college writing class hoping to learn enough to enable her realize her dream of writing.

Caden Marshall is her writing professor and author of one successful book. He is suffering from writer’s block and took the teaching job to support his little daughter, Ava. He is divorced from Ava’s mother, a self-centered wanna be author, who gave up custody of her little girl and only sees her when the mood strikes her. Cade is just trying to work and take care of his daughter until he is able to write again. He doesn't have any intention of getting romantically involved with anyone.

So begins a somewhat contentious relationship between Gabby and Cade. Cade tries to keep the professor/student relationship on a professional level. Gabby...not so much.

I enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a sweet romance. I would give it 10 stars if it was possible.

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Sweet and lovely, a small town romance from one of my favorite writers.
ARC review to follow.

First chapter of her next upcoming release "All I Want for Christmas Is You" was included at the end.
This is Rafe and Kaitlyn's story and it looks really promising. Can't wait to read the full story.

I loved being back with the Angel Falls crew! This story was so enjoyable. I will continue to read as many Angel Falls novels as the author is willing to give us!

Second in the Angel Falls series and once again lured me right into the story and kept me there until the last page.
Gabby is grinding through her days working in a law firm trying to make partner and is almost there.
Her life is her job, pretty much does what she felt was expected of her. Have a real job and not something fanciful like being a writer like her late mother. But she does sign up for a creative writing class taught by an author and single dad Caden. Caden has moved to Angel Falls to teach at the local college after his award winning first novel gets upended by his ex wife and boatload of drama surrounding that. His publisher is waiting for his next book but Caden has lost his muse and motivation. He's playing it safe by choosing to teach in order to take care of his daughter. His daughter comes first since his ex is absent. His mother owns the bookstore in town. Gabby just so happens to be in Caden's class and after a run in with each other in the parking lot the tone seems to be set for their relationship. He's a real jerk to Gabby in class. He pretty much cuts her off at the knees but Gabby is no pushover. She counters his every line. He needs to get hired on permanently and is busy writing a grant that will ensure him a position. Gabby decides to go through her mother's papers and reads some of her work, inspiring her a little more to write and follow her heart. Meanwhile we see the relationship between Caden and Gabby evolve, along with daughter Ava.
I loved the plot line and the writing was stellar. It's refreshing to read a book that has two adults act like adults, baggage and all, the dialogue real. From beginning to end this book is another stellar work from Miranda! I love this series and look forward to the next book!

What a sweet love story. I loved how Gabby has this sweet spirit, she is a strong character who has a big heart and she really seemed so relatable. I really enjoy how it was important to find herself and her mom's legacy. I was not a huge fan of Caden, sometimes you like him sometimes you don't. I get he had some hard times but in my opinion he just seemed like he couldn't get his stuff together. I really loved Ava, her sweet personality just jumped off the pages and it was hard not to just fall in love with her. Overall I really enjoyed this sweet love story. There is some sex scenes in this book, so it may not be suitable for all readers. I honestly have enjoyed reading this series and can not wait to read Rafe and Kaitlyn story.

Gabby is a lawyer by day and an inspiring writer at night. Her first day of class is almost ruined by a man who cuts her off and takes her parking spot. Even if his smile does make her go all tingly. He just so happens to be her teacher. He is suffering from writers block after his ex accusing him of stealing her ideas.

He is recently divorced and taking care of his daughter, he doesn't need this distraction. Unfortunately his heart isn't listening. His daughter has also seemed to have fallen for Gabby, which makes it even harder to resist her. A wonderful cast of secondary characters makes this a fun and delightful read.

This book has some cursing (including a few f-bombs) and a couple of sex scenes but neither of those things overwhelmed the story. If those things bother you, they're easily skipped over or ignored. While this is the second book of a beautiful series, you don't have to read the first book to enjoy this one – it totally stands alone. All that said, you should read Then There Was You because it is so great.

Miranda Liasson is one of my very few one-click authors because her books are all written with such a tremendous amount of humor, heart, and the kind of characters that make me crave more of them. The Way You Love Me is one of those books that ticks all of my “happiness” boxes. This story had an adorable meet-cute (which I won't spoil but it's pretty hilarious), and a well-written plot that made it hard for me to put down. If you like a book that is laced with subtle humor, you'll love Miranda Liasson's writing “voice”. Her wry but hilarious way of telling a story a story is incredibly captivating.

I identified with Gabby in a lot of ways, so I was fully invested in her story and whether she'd figure out what she wanted to do with her life. Watching her grow into her own was awesome, and I loved the way she figured herself out. The ties that Gabby had with her late mother, and the discoveries she made about her family history were intriguing and I couldn't stop reading once the plot started to really unravel – I needed to know everything!

I also really adored Cade and I just wanted the two of them to figure out how to have their happily ever after because these just two belonged together. Now, in the interest of full disclosure, Cade is kind of a tool during the aforementioned meet cute, but he was also a stupidly charming tool. Like Gabby, I was smitten with him from the start. Even when he was flawed throughout the book, he was still a great guy who just wanted the best for Gabby and more importantly, for his daughter, Ava. Cade was an amazing father who would have done anything to keep Ava happy and healthy, and I loved his devotion to her. There is nothing sexier than a man who adores his daughter. And speaking of Ava, she was wonderful. So often kids in books are written more little adults or obnoxious brats, but Ava was absolutely adorable. I loved the way that she and Gabby bonded so organically and so beautifully.

Thanks to all of the foreshadowing, I am really, really looking forward to Rafe's story. I want to gush about all of the things I'm looking forward to in that, but I don't want to spoil anything. I cannot wait for the next book!

Such a wonderful sweet book. I loved this novel - the sweet passion, desire and even the little girl in it! This is more than just a romance novel- it’s also a novel of forgiveness and learning to love and change. Wonderful job!

I love stories about writers and this fit the bill. You have a woman who has lived her life basically for others. Her father was an attorney, he wanted his daughter to follow in his footsteps, so she did. Being smart and capable, she is an excellent attorney... only problem is she is BORED TO TEARS.

After trying all sorts of paths to the Right Passion... she finds Writing. Now she is truly committed. She decided to take a class taught by an acclaimed author.

This author has taken this teaching gig to stabilize his life. He is newly divorced and is still experiencing PTSD from is raging ex. He has his kid with him and wants to make sure everything settles and becomes normal.

These two cross paths first in the parking lot at the college and then in the class, our guy is teaching. Over the course of time, she shows talent, he shows interest and they must figure out where to go from there.

Cheers to all the dreamers, who aren't afraid to dream. This story goes out to you. The Way You Love Me is a reminder that It's okay to follow your heart. Even when the odds are stacked against you. Gabby and Caden have spent a great deal of their lives living for others. When fate brings them face to face, will their level heads steer them toward a broken heart? Liasson continues to lead with her heart and turn reading into an emotionally fulfilling experience.

Miranda Liasson's Angel Falls series began with the story of the Langdon family who rally round their Nana, who suffers from the beginning of Alzheimer's disease. Sara, a research physician working in Chicago returns home to help while working locally at her dad's clinic. Her sister, Gabriella, a lawyer practicing in Angel Falls has just become a partner in the practice in this newest release. She has recently broken up with a long time boyfriend, Malcolm, and although she is thrilled with the new position in the firm, she would love to work on learning to write the novel that has mulled around in her mind for years. Her mother loved to write, and learning of a book she had been working on before her passing has stimulated that desire. She signs up at the local college to take a writing course. As it happens, her new instructor just happens to be Caden Marshall, best selling author. It was his only novel due to his ex-wife's determined publicity that argues she helped him write the book and wants credit. She left him and their little girl, Ava to head west to start anew. Trying to start again, Caden applies to teach at local college. It would provide him with security, insurance, and family help with Ava..
On her first day, while attempting to find a parking spot in the crowded college lot, she almost runs into him as he slips his truck into her spot After exchanging words, Gabby drives off to find another spot and Caden runs to his classroom to arrive before his students. Thus begins the entwining storyline that blends Gabby, Caden and Ava. It is a fun read that motivates the reader to want to learn more about these families that care very much for their children, siblings, and parents. I read .Then There Was You, the first book in the series prior to reading The Way You Love Me to get into the characters of the series. Although it is not necessary to read as first it introduced me to the family members involved and how they related to one another. I enjoyed the Way You Love Me and look forward to reading the novella due out in September. In addition to Ms. Liasson's writing we are given a bonus selection by Alison Bliss.
I would like to thank the Hachette Book Group for providing me with a pre-release copy to read. I look forward to reading more by Miranda Liasson's books.

The Way You Love Me by Miranda Liasson
4 stars

Cade and Gabby’s story was a pretty sweet read! Cade...He was a little broody, smart, and protective, but when his little girl Ava was around? Oy, he could turn a girl into a puddle of goo with his parenting skills! And Gabby was a nice contrast to the his broodiness with her sunshine and rainbows outlook, even when she was being serious.

I enjoyed Gabby and Cade’s push/pull relationship. They both had some growing to do independently before moving forward with one another and I liked how it was reflected when eye opening moments clicked the light bulb on upstairs and awareness settled in. I also liked how Liasson included family dynamics into the mix, showing how the tendrils of one relationship could spill over and effect others in many different ways.

Book two in the Angel Falls series was a delightful read! Small town charm and a cute romance made time fly by! There’s a variety of characters to track, but not so many you’d get lost. Gabby’s vivacious Nonna was my personal favorite because she was a real firecracker of fun and her having no filter?! Imagine, embarrassing moments, thoughtful advice, and loving support. However, the main focus of the story was always about Gabby and Cade. The struggles to move forward, discover themselves, and learning to overcome perceived personal failures gave their romance a mature edge I enjoyed.

I liked Brett. He was honorable, diligent, and knew he had to straighten himself out when Sidney left him. Sidney was a bit aloof and harder to like. I understood her struggles with body issues, but her mixed signals to Brett were frustrating. Brett and Sidney both hedged on seriously communicating their worries to the Nth degree when they could have been busy making up! Although the make up session did get hot and heavy for a brief moment ;)

Sidney and Brett’s story was a decently cute second chance romance. I felt Brett was pretty dimensional, but Sidney needed just a wee bit more tweaking to put them on a level laying field.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thank you to NetGallery, the publisher and author, Miranda Liasson, for the privilege of reading “The Way You Love Me.” This is my honest review.
Miranda Liasson is a new author to me and one I am happy to have found, will be reading more books by her!
This is the second book in the Angel Fall series. I really did not have a problem following along in the book with not reading the first book. However, I will certainly be reading book number 3!
The characters are engaging with their flaws making them more endearing. A story with love, new beginnings and finding hope.
All around sweet read.
Highly recommended.

Gabby Langdon has spent her whole life trying to make other people happy going so far as to even becoming a lawyer to please her doctor father. For the longest time it was ok only because she didn't know what she wanted to do, but it's not her passion, and slowly she's coming to resent the life she's found herself living.

But when Gabby discovers an old box of her mother's belongings, she begins to see a different side of her mother, and realize that what Gabby wants most out in life is the thing her mother was never able to accomplish before her death: to be a writer.

Despite what her family views as a passing fancy, something that will never be a reliable career, Gabby signs up for a writing class at the local college taught by none other than Caden Marshall who shot to fame with his the popularity of his debut novel, but whose name has also been dragged through the mud when his ex claimed he stole her ideas.

Caden just wanted to return to Angel Falls to start over with his young daughter. To get away from the gossip and conjecture that seems to follow him everywhere, Cade has found himself unable to write, and as it's too painful to fathom never writing again, Cade has decided to take a teaching position where the only writing he'll have to do is research. But then Cade meets Gabby, and immediately recognizes her talent. He's loathe to get into another relationship with the potential to come crashing down, but they just can't seem to stay away from one another no matter how hard they try.

I loved Miranda Liasson's first book in the series Then There Was You, so I was really looking forward to The Way You Love Me. I was pleasantly surprised by Gabby and Cade's story. Just the idea of Gabby being so undecided in the what she wants out of life and, throughout the story, seeing things slowly fit into place for her was really satisfying.

Likewise with Cade, seeing where he starts out at the beginning of the story: not being able to trust his instincts about his writing talent, but in seeing Gabby and seeing her writing knowing it for was it is - talent - he begins to trust himself a little and it opens his creativity up again. I loved that there was no resentment on his part where Gabby's writing is concerned. Cade's hangups are his problem, he doesn't lump those onto Gabby, at least as far as the writing goes. Cade's ex still has a lasting impact on how he views relationships. Mostly, his main focus is ensuring that this daughter is happy and knows she's loved despite her mother not being a regular (or reliable fixture) in her life. Cade doesn't want to risk that with someone else so he's closed himself off relationship-wise.

While I was reading I realized that there are a lot of hurdles that Cade and Gabby have to jump through before finally reaching their HEA, but I felt like Miranda Liasson dealt with everything really well keeping the story from feeling too congested and each element had its place within the story. There were some elements - namely the continuing issues regarding Caden's ex - that I felt could have been given a little more page time in regards to the resolution, but I didn't feel like it was handled poorly by any means.

Also, Rafe and Katie get quite the amount of secondary page time. I feel like I have to mention it because there's so much setup going on for their book that occurs in The Way You Love Me. I'm here for it honestly. I was supremely disappointed when the teaser at the end of this book was over because that means I now have to wait until next Christmas - as of right now it seems like that's when their book will take place. Rafe and Katie are that secondary potential couple that authors tend to draw out over the course of the earlier books in the series in order to torture their readers :) I kid! But I will say that this book has only piqued my interest even more to see how their situation will get resolved.

This is the second in a series and I did not know that going on. Gabby and Cade have a cute relationship, but also nothing really moves forward. Poor Gabby went to law school to please her father and gets worked to the bone. It’s a struggle to find love! But if you’re looking for a slow burn romance, grab this one when it comes out!
