This is a nice collection of essays on living both sustainably and with Buddhist principles. It's a great read to motivate you in doing more on both counts.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from a book about the role of Buddhism in environmentalism. I was surprised, but in retrospect shouldn’t have been, to find the theme of Buddhism’s role in combating consumerism with consumerism of course causing many of the environmental problems we see. Other themes that emerged were the importance of relationships and a truly helpful section on avoiding burnout in helping/caring work.

One thing I would like improved in future works was there were a couple of chapters that were essentially summaries of, for example, all the books by a certain Buddhist. While there could have been value to that, the way it was done, it felt like reading simple plot summaries rather than engaging dialogue with the works.

Green Buddhism is a good book in Buddhism and sustainable living. The climate is changing and the ecosystem is being destroyed at such a fast pace. I would recommend this to my friends to read.

I'll definitely recommend this one to our library patrons. I love the personal stories and their relations to Buddhism and how we can all do better.
