Interesting read. I enjoyed the theme of amnesia and memory loss. Good twists along the way. I enjoyed the different perspectives that were introduced throughout the book. I certainly didn't predict the direction in which the book took and I learnt things that I had not known before e.g. about seahorses so thanks to the author for that. (helpful pub quiz information right there!)

Twisty and clever psychological thriller based on a woman who in the beginning thinks she is coming home but soon realizes she is not at her own home but someone else's and she does not even know her own name or where she lives or who she really is. The couple who live in the home feel sorry for her and try to help her by letting her sleep there and take her to their GP the next day. The story really picks up as other people think they recognize her and there is a HUGE plot twist towards the middle of the book that I was totally not expecting--a little confusing but worth sticking it out. Well-written, interesting characters and an intriguing story-line that kept me reading! Definitely worth reading!!

This was a fast and fun book to read. The protagonist has amnesia, so for every real clue, you get a bunch of red herrings- both for her and for us. It was interesting how the story unfolded, especially the amnesia bit. All in all, a twisty, fun story with the added bonus of learning a lot about seahorses, memory, and the fascinating connection between the two.

I was engrossed at the beginning but then got lost in the many characters and story lines...I felt there should have been fewer characters and the story moved along...by the end I was tired of the drama and we knew for a long time what the end would be!

Ok, first off I'll tell you what bothered me so much about this book. The author created a safety net around the main character and just when you think everyone is against her and the world is caving in on her, the book takes a sharp turn and the safety net becomes the most dangerous thing for the main character to be around. Without giving too much away, this book gave me the most uneasy feeling while reading it that I wanted the main character to just run away and never come back. The beginning of the story starts with a woman who cannot remember her own name. She turns up on the front step of Tony and Laura's house claiming that their house is really her house. They take her in to help her. The story is told over a few weeks, however, it feels like months. It is not until the very end that the reader is given information about the main character that makes the whole story make sense. The book was good but there were a lot of parts that could have been taken out to move the plot forward faster.
Thank you to Netgalley, J.S. Monroe, and Park Row Books for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The Last Thing She Remembers is an engaging read with twists and turns and an ending I didn't see coming. The characters were believable and interesting. I would recommend this book.
Many thanks to J.S. Monroe, Harlequin Park Row, and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Review THE LAST THING SHE REMEMBERS by J S Monroe and reviewing for Netgalley. I am usually a very quick reader but it took me forever to get through this overly lengthy book. It was well written but I felt as if I were reading two different books with the same characters. At times very unbelievable and overly descriptive to a huge fault. Just not for me. ⭐⭐Two stars.

J.S. Monroe may have overshot the mark with this narrative. While the character development was well thought out and executed, the plot and secondary plot lines were overly complex and eccentric. The reader was given little to no foreshadowing prior to some quite outlandish revelations before the story quickly diverted to the next storyline. It was as if there were a myriad of ideas the author wanted to put to paper but not enough time to execute them correctly. Unfortunately, the work felt rushed and unfinished. 1 star.
Thank you to #Harlequin and #NetGalley for this ARC of #TheLastThingSheRemembers in exchange for an honest review.

This book had me 100% on the hook! The Last Thing She Remembers is a fast paced read that will leave you on the edge of your seat from start to finish! Several times I thought I had the mystery figured out...I was way wrong!! The twists and turns were perfectly placed—loved that! J.S. Monroe really did great job with plotting out the storyline and what really surprised me was there was a lot of depth throughout. The Last Thing She Remembers isa 4.5 star read that won’t be able to put down! This is the first novel I’ve read from J.S. Monroe, but I am excited to read more from him in the future!

Thank you netgalley for allowing me to review this amazing book for a honest review. ☺
I loved this book for many reasons. READ BELOW:
1) The introduction hooks you into the plot of the mysterious woman with amnesia and couple who shows hospitality to a stranger.
2) This book was not a typical mystery book where crime has taken place, and crime is solved. The story revolves around an anmesiac looking for answers of her identity. Suspicion is aroused gradually that leads to discover who she is and why she is there.
3) Alot of theories of the anmesiac identity are mentioned, and the author incorporates them all in bringing closure to the book.

This book was an interesting ride. I liked the multiple perspective format. The twists kept coming and I couldn't even guess what would happen next. It is hard to see who is yelling the truth and who is lying. There are definetly some creepy characters in this story. Overall 3.5 Stars!!

The description of the book made me think it would be something I would like. Psychological thrillers either work very well for me or they don't. Seems to be no middle ground. This one failed to grip me with any emotional investment. I found the characters flat and unlikable and thought the plot convoluted and contrived. I thought the premise was unrealistic, including the characters' thoughts and reactions. Its beginning seemed promising, but I found most of the story boring. It was a thriller which failed to thrill me. Amnesia is becoming overused as a plot device.
Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin Publishers for the ARC in return for an honest review. I am sorry that I cannot be more positive. I note that many readers seemed to enjoy it, so I hope that prospective readers will not be put off by my misgivings, which are entirely my own.

This one kept me turning the pages and I could hardly out it down because I was so caught up in the twists and mystery of who the woman who couldn't remember her own name was. I loved the premise and the way the first part of the book was delivered. I liked the shorter chapters and the pace and intrigue.
At some point more than halfway through the book, things started to get a bit too incredible and convoluted for me, with one main character in particular going off into an outlandish and disturbing story arc. I am mostly good, as a general rule, with suspending disbelief when reading fiction, and that is required in order to enjoy this book. I wasn't entirely successful with buying into the final stretch and the myriad of wild turns the story took, especially since there were several plot lines that felt either left hanging or were quickly and nonsensically addressed.
I did find this an engrossing read and I think many readers will enjoy this because it keeps you guessing and is a good mix of mystery and thriller.

This book was an ok read for me. It has a lot of characters and many twisting plots so at times it was very hard to keep up with. I received an advanced readers copy from NetGalley and Harlequin Park Row. All opinions are my own.

I am grateful for the author and publisher for offering me the chance to read this book through NetGalley. However, this book did not work for me. From the summary, I expected a much different story. The book started out with a good shock value, which I did appreciate - we are introduced to the main character as she is questioning who she is, where she is, and why she's there. No long, convoluted backstory. But after just a few chapters, it feels like the filler begins. I had a very difficult time caring about any of the characters, and didn't ever feel like I knew any of them enough to be invested in the story. This one just ... didn't work for me. I'm sorry to say that.

When defining who we are we look to how others perceive us.
Overall:
The concept for this story seemed promising. Then I didn’t know what to think when this stranger arrives in this town claiming to have lived in this couples house. From that point moving forward it went downhill.
Not every book is for every reader, sometimes an author writes a book that doesn’t work for a reader...this was that book for me.
I didn’t technically not DNF this book, but I did skim this book...however I didn’t read it in its entirety.
This book was difficult to connect with. I really wanted to like this book because I was curious about this woman with limited memories. It progressed too slowly which is why I skimmed it. It was dull with all the seahorse terminology. The speculations kept piling up every time a new character was brought into the fold. Then the story felt repetitive.
I felt like I read two separate stories. One about this stranger who arrived and another about a man obsessed with seahorses.
This was a character driven story written in the first person perspective with the visitor recounting her days. Although, I found it odd that she wasn’t trying to discover who she was.
I had concerns about the timeline. In fact, I forgot all about the timeline after day three given how long day three lasted.
This story had some weird unexpected situations that threw me. I thought I was going to read a thrilling story that would cause chills to run down my back. Instead this unusual set of circumstances regarding a character’s obsession with memory loss baffled me.

Quickly I realized this book was not for me. I had a really tough time following this story. I did not connect with the characters or the story line for that matter. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for this complimentary book. All opinions expressed are my own.

If you like a good British psychological thriller, then this one is for you. I have read many British mysteries and always have found them delightful. The setting is always so blissful and quiet taking place in picturesque English country villages. This story takes place in Wilshire England. There is a multi cast of characters, too many to name them all. The characters are all well defined, interesting, unique and unforgettable. One of the main characters has amnesia and the storyline involves all the aspects that goes along with trying to regain that memory. Some of us have better memories than others, but we all like to think that our memory is good. The character in the book has lost her memory and has come to Wilshire to visit to see if she can jog her memory as she has a history with this village. There is a plot behind her actions, One that the reader will not understand until further into the book. You are kept guessing as to what is going on and how it’s all going to turn out. I kept trying to figure out where the author was headed with his story, but I was usually wrong in the direction it was going. As a reader, it is fun to see if you can determine how it will all turn out. That’s part of the fun of reading mysteries. I found that I was not really close in a lot of my deductions. There are some twists along the way and they only make you rethink your deductions. I was really hoping that the book was going to end in a different way than it did. All of the loose ends in my opinion were not tied up neatly like I’d like a story to be. Irregardless , I did enjoy this book very much I think that Mr. Monroe has a great future in writing books that we will all love.
I rate it a solid four stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you to NetGalley and to Harlequin Publishers for the free advanced copy of this book for an honest review.

J.S. Monroe has written an engrossing thriller with The Last Thing She Remembers. Worth the read until the final page.

This book, for me, started off well but then I got a bit bored with it and didn't particularly like the characters.
I did persevere with it but was glad when I got to the end.
Thank you to Netgalley and Harlequin Publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book.
