This book had me 100% on the hook! The Last Thing She Remembers is a fast paced read that will leave you on the edge of your seat from start to finish! Several times I thought I had the mystery figured out...I was way wrong!! The twists and turns were perfectly placed—loved that! J.S. Monroe really did great job with plotting out the storyline and what really surprised me was there was a lot of depth throughout. The Last Thing She Remembers isa 4.5 star read that won’t be able to put down! This is the first novel I’ve read from J.S. Monroe, but I am excited to read more from him in the future!

Thank you netgalley for allowing me to review this amazing book for a honest review. ☺

I loved this book for many reasons. READ BELOW:

1) The introduction hooks you into the plot of the mysterious woman with amnesia and couple who shows hospitality to a stranger.
2) This book was not a typical mystery book where crime has taken place, and crime is solved. The story revolves around an anmesiac looking for answers of her identity. Suspicion is aroused gradually that leads to discover who she is and why she is there.
3) Alot of theories of the anmesiac identity are mentioned, and the author incorporates them all in bringing closure to the book.

This book was an interesting ride. I liked the multiple perspective format. The twists kept coming and I couldn't even guess what would happen next. It is hard to see who is yelling the truth and who is lying. There are definetly some creepy characters in this story. Overall 3.5 Stars!!

The description of the book made me think it would be something I would like. Psychological thrillers either work very well for me or they don't. Seems to be no middle ground. This one failed to grip me with any emotional investment. I found the characters flat and unlikable and thought the plot convoluted and contrived. I thought the premise was unrealistic, including the characters' thoughts and reactions. Its beginning seemed promising, but I found most of the story boring. It was a thriller which failed to thrill me. Amnesia is becoming overused as a plot device.
Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin Publishers for the ARC in return for an honest review. I am sorry that I cannot be more positive. I note that many readers seemed to enjoy it, so I hope that prospective readers will not be put off by my misgivings, which are entirely my own.

This one kept me turning the pages and I could hardly out it down because I was so caught up in the twists and mystery of who the woman who couldn't remember her own name was. I loved the premise and the way the first part of the book was delivered. I liked the shorter chapters and the pace and intrigue.

At some point more than halfway through the book, things started to get a bit too incredible and convoluted for me, with one main character in particular going off into an outlandish and disturbing story arc. I am mostly good, as a general rule, with suspending disbelief when reading fiction, and that is required in order to enjoy this book. I wasn't entirely successful with buying into the final stretch and the myriad of wild turns the story took, especially since there were several plot lines that felt either left hanging or were quickly and nonsensically addressed.

I did find this an engrossing read and I think many readers will enjoy this because it keeps you guessing and is a good mix of mystery and thriller.

This book was an ok read for me. It has a lot of characters and many twisting plots so at times it was very hard to keep up with. I received an advanced readers copy from NetGalley and Harlequin Park Row. All opinions are my own.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for an Advance Readers Copy of The Last Thing She Remembers. The following review is based solely on my own opinion.

As the story slowly began to unfold, I really didn't understand where it could possibly be going. Midway through the book, the story changed gears, (clearly, that was what the author intended) and again wasn't sure where it was then headed. I found it to be an odd premise on which to base a book. I continued on because I did want to see how the author connected these characters and to see where their story was going.

Honestly, I had to reread portions, as I wasn't sure what was going on at times (once you read it, you'll know what I mean.) It was a little confusing and that made it hard to follow the story. I did not identify with any of the characters and so, it was just an okay read. I finished it for the sake of finishing it, as DNF is not my preference.

I am grateful for the author and publisher for offering me the chance to read this book through NetGalley. However, this book did not work for me. From the summary, I expected a much different story. The book started out with a good shock value, which I did appreciate - we are introduced to the main character as she is questioning who she is, where she is, and why she's there. No long, convoluted backstory. But after just a few chapters, it feels like the filler begins. I had a very difficult time caring about any of the characters, and didn't ever feel like I knew any of them enough to be invested in the story. This one just ... didn't work for me. I'm sorry to say that.

When defining who we are we look to how others perceive us.
Overall:
The concept for this story seemed promising. Then I didn’t know what to think when this stranger arrives in this town claiming to have lived in this couples house. From that point moving forward it went downhill.

Not every book is for every reader, sometimes an author writes a book that doesn’t work for a reader...this was that book for me.
I didn’t technically not DNF this book, but I did skim this book...however I didn’t read it in its entirety.

This book was difficult to connect with. I really wanted to like this book because I was curious about this woman with limited memories. It progressed too slowly which is why I skimmed it. It was dull with all the seahorse terminology. The speculations kept piling up every time a new character was brought into the fold. Then the story felt repetitive.

I felt like I read two separate stories. One about this stranger who arrived and another about a man obsessed with seahorses.

This was a character driven story written in the first person perspective with the visitor recounting her days. Although, I found it odd that she wasn’t trying to discover who she was.

I had concerns about the timeline. In fact, I forgot all about the timeline after day three given how long day three lasted.

This story had some weird unexpected situations that threw me. I thought I was going to read a thrilling story that would cause chills to run down my back. Instead this unusual set of circumstances regarding a character’s obsession with memory loss baffled me.

Quickly I realized this book was not for me. I had a really tough time following this story. I did not connect with the characters or the story line for that matter. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for this complimentary book. All opinions expressed are my own.

The Last Thing She Remembered # NetGalley
J. S. Monroe

If you like a good British psychological thriller, then this one is for you. I have read many British mysteries and always have found them delightful. The setting is always so blissful and quiet taking place in picturesque English country villages. This story takes place in Wilshire England. There is a multi cast of characters, too many to name them all. The characters are all well defined, interesting, unique and unforgettable. One of the main characters has amnesia and the storyline involves all the aspects that goes along with trying to regain that memory. Some of us have better memories than others, but we all like to think that our memory is good. The character in the book has lost her memory and has come to Wilshire to visit to see if she can jog her memory as she has a history with this village. There is a plot behind her actions, One that the reader will not understand until further into the book. You are kept guessing as to what is going on and how it’s all going to turn out. I kept trying to figure out where the author was headed with his story, but I was usually wrong in the direction it was going. As a reader, it is fun to see if you can determine how it will all turn out. That’s part of the fun of reading mysteries. I found that I was not really close in a lot of my deductions. There are some twists along the way and they only make you rethink your deductions. I was really hoping that the book was going to end in a different way than it did. All of the loose ends in my opinion were not tied up neatly like I’d like a story to be. Irregardless , I did enjoy this book very much I think that Mr. Monroe has a great future in writing books that we will all love.

I rate it a solid four stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you to NetGalley and to Harlequin Publishers for the free advanced copy of this book for an honest review.

J.S. Monroe has written an engrossing thriller with The Last Thing She Remembers. Worth the read until the final page.

This book, for me, started off well but then I got a bit bored with it and didn't particularly like the characters.

I did persevere with it but was glad when I got to the end.

Thank you to Netgalley and Harlequin Publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin for the eARC.
This book started out well, I was quite into it, but as it went on it became more convoluted and unrealistic. Plus, I didn't really like any of the characters, which is a big minus for me. If someone came to my home saying it's hers, but she has no i.d. and has lost her memory, I would definitely not let her in! Phone the police, let them take care of her and figure out how to help her!
The amnesia angle in mysteries has become tiresome and overused, but because I started out liking it I give it 3 stars.

The book started off alright but by the last third it just became utterly ridiculous to me--I am sorry to say I did not finish it.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a chance to read and review.

The Last Thing She Remembers ⭐️
This is her house. She doesn’t remember anything else but something in her told her to go to this house, this house would give her what she needs... but another couple is living there.
She goes on this adventure of sorts to try and figure out who she is and what happened to make her forget. In the meantime the couple thats house she bombarded decides to help her but could they be the cause of her mishap?!
As time goes on they give her this identity (but she still doesn’t remember anythig) but that identity might jsut be a criminal?!
But while she still doesn’t remember anything she knows things deep inside her she knows who she is and what she would and wouldnt do. She knows that she is not a killer she knows that she is a good person but she cant place how she knows what she knows and why she doesnt know basically everything else.

I really enjoyed this! The writing style was good and the characters had depth even though she didnt know anything about herself and it was a good mystery.

Thank you so much to Harlequin via netgalley for sending me an ARC copy of The Last Thing She remembers by J S Monroe. This will be released on May 28 2019.
All opinions are my own.

An enjoyable and suspenseful psychological thriller about an amnesiac woman
Lots of twists and turns and characters you'd love to hate.
I thought the ending could've been expanded a little bit, but this didn't affect my overall enjoyment of the novel.

Thanks #Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for an ARC, all opinions are entirely mine.

I liked this book for at least the first half - woman with amnesia suddenly turns up in a small English village, claiming to have lost her purse and everything about her identity. She turns up at a house occupied by Tony and Laura, claiming that it was hers. And they are taken in by her plight and bizarrely allow her to stay in their house.

This amnesia is a ruse, as is the story. It turned ludicrous as Tony’s obsession with Alzheimer’s disease is revealed, bit by bit, attempting to tantalize the reader into being hooked into this contrived and ultimately ludicrous tale. I did not finish the book. It just got to be so gruesome and ridiculous that it wasn’t worth finishing.

I received this book as an ARC from the publisher and NetGalley.

Twisty and turny and kept me reading straight until the end. Characters you love to hate and I found myself yelling at the book (always embarrassing). Felt the ending was a bit cut short, but otherwise a great fun read.

Thanks NetGalley.
