Silent Suspect is book 13 in the Detective Jessica Daniels series I've read and loved them and this is right up there as one of the best so far!!! Jessica is on her own in this one and I really enjoyed it even though I missed the banter of her team. Jessica gets a call from her friend Rebecca (Bex) who disappeared from Jessica's house a few months ago. All she says is "Jessica" then the line goes dead. Jessica traces the call to a phone box in Blackpool and she is due leave so she uses it to go to Blackpool to find her friend. When Jessica gets to the phone box she sees a missing person poster with a picture of a girl called Katy who very much resembles Bex so Jessica calls the number and a guy called Peter answers and claims to be Katy's brother. Jessica meets him but gets a bad feeling about him but gives him her card which she later regrets when the following day he is found stabbed to death on the beach and it get's worse there is blood on Jessica's bumper so she becomes the prime suspect. Now she not only has to find Bex she needs to clear her name and we are led on an edge of your seat ride on what is a fantastic finale to the Jessica Daniels series....I sure am going to miss her!!!!!!

Jessica Daniel is back with the 13th book in the series, unlucky for some but not our Kerry, an absolute corker, kept me up all night, my poor dog was crossing his legs by morning.

Thank you to Netgalley, the Publisher and the Author for the opportunity to read this book in return for a review based on my honest opinion.

I love the Jessica Daniel series. Although this book is the 13th book in the series, it would be quite enjoyable as a stand-alone book as well. but I think that anyone reading this book would seek out the others anyway. Jessica is a great character and I have enjoyed seeing her grow and solve all these great cases. This case puts her in an unfamiliar town and it was different just seeing her on her own without her coworkers and friend, that being said, I also enjoyed that it was just her for most of the book.

This case puts Jessica in danger, not only for her life, but her career. When Bex goes missing, she traces her to a phone booth in a seaside town and tries to find her. The only lead she has, a man with a missing sister, then ends up dead and she is the last person to have seen him alive. As the bodies and mysteries start mounting, Jessica realizes she is being framed for murder, but who is framing her and what is the reason behind it and most importantly, where is Bex. The story was a thrill ride and the ending was great. I look forward to more books by this author and in this series.

Good read.

Another excellent book by Kerry Wilkinson. I love the Jessica Daniels series and even though this is book 13 it still keeps me as gripped as the first one did. A fast paced storyline and the addition of a new character called Fran was well received, I hope we see her again in future stories . Kerry is such a brilliant author, I highly recommend his books.

This is the 13th book in the Jessica Daniel series by author Kerry Wilkinson. I have ready many books by this author but surprisingly this is the first one I have read in this long running series and can easily be read as a standalone without spoiling any enjoyment.
Jessica is alone in Blackpool looking for her missing friend Bex after tracing the last phone call she received off Bex to a phone box in Blackpool. She takes holiday from work to make her own investigations that get her into trouble of her own. Very soon she is talking to the Police about a murder she appears to be connected to, when a person she is linked to is murdered.
Jessica troubles go from bad to worse but is helped by a new group of friends she makes while away from home.
I liked enough of this book to make me want to read more of the series and will continue with it when I get through my mountain of books to read.
I really enjoyed this one even though maybe a little hard to believe at times, but don't let that spoil a good story.

I would like to thank both Net Galley and Bookouture for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

As SILENT SUSPECT is the thirteenth book in the DI Jessica Daniels series, I must be the only person to start the series with this one! Hahaha... I've enjoyed a few of Kerry Wilkinson's standalones that when I saw this one come up, despite not having read any of the other books I thought "why not?" And I'm not sorry I did because I just love Wilkinson's books.

Whilst reading the rest of the series in some sort of order might give the reader insight into Jessica's backstory and what's taken place to bring her to where she is now, it still could be read as a standlone - in my opinion. After all, I've not read any of the series and this could have been a mystery of its own. But I guess, the earlier books leading up to this one would have given me more of an insight into Jessica as a person and police detective. The only thing that remained a mystery to me, because I haven't read the rest of the series, is her reference to something a Chief Constable had done to her in the past and not having read them I know not what that is. But aside from that reference, this book could be read as a standalone.

So from the premise AND the end of book 12 (apparently), we discover Jessica's friend Bex has disappeared. It's been three months since when Jessica receives a phone call with Bex's voice on the other end pleading "Jessica..." With obvious secret misuse of police resources, Jessica traces the call to a phone box in Blackpool. But when she arrives, no one is there. In fact the whole place looks deserted.

It is then she sees a MISSING poster of woman who could almost be Bex inside the phone box, and not really knowing why, Jessica calls the number on the flyer. The man who answers is Peter Salisbury. The missing girl is his sister Katy. He offers to help Jessica in her search but is found stabbed to death on the beach the next morning.

What then ensues is a cat and mouse game as Jessica devles deeper into the seedier side of Blackpool that goes unseen, as she searches desperately for Bex. Then a young girl who claims to have information regarding Bex goes missing and the last person she had contacted was Jessica. Then her body is found. With her face plastered all over the newspapers it won't be long before Jessica is arrested for double murder.

Despite all that she is up against, Jessica is determined to find Bex and the reason why she is being set up. Then when the police begin to close in on her, Jessica finds help where she least expects it.

True to Wilkinson form, SILENT SUSPECT is both fast-paced and compelling. Filled with twists and turns, the truth behind the seedy story is creepy yet psychologically thrilling. What I especially like is the fact that this is a story of what happens when a police detecive - Jessica - finds herself on the other side of the law. She gets to see what it is like to be unjustly accused but yet with mounting evidence against her. In this she is reminded that not everything, no matter how much it may seem, is black and white. An interesting aspect which worked so well.

Another point I must make that I thought was a nice touch, was bringing in private investigator Andrew Hunter from Wilkinson's other series - Andrew Hunter - and brought the two together, even if just for a while. It was cleverly done and worked well.

While this is my first introduction to Jessica Daniels, I didn't completely warm up to her but as I tackle the rest of the series in the future I'm sure I will get to know her better and that will change.

I'd like to thank #KerryWilkinson, #NetGalley and #Bookouture for an Advanced Reader's Copy of #Silent Suspect in exchange for an honest review.

Hard to believe this is the 13th book in the Detective Jessica Daniel series and it is every bit as fresh as the first.
Silent Suspect grabs you from the get go. Jessica has pulled in some favours to trace the call she received at the end of book 12.
It came from a phone box on the south shore in Blackpool and as this is the only lead to finding her friend Bex Jessica heads straight there.
She locates the call box and discovers the poster of another missing girl. The girl Katy looks a lot like Bex, could the disappearances be connected ?
In order to discover more Jessica phones the contact number and gets through to the girls "brother" Peter.
They meet up to talk and compare information , however Jessica has an uneasy feeling about Peter.
After booking into and spending the night in a seedy hotel opposite the phone box Jessica is awoken to the news that the man Peter has been found murdered, not only was she the last person to see him but blood has appeared on the bumper of her car.
Although the local police have her down as a prime suspect because of her being "one of them " they cut her some slack and she continues to try to trace Bex whereabouts.
How long will she manage to continue as the evidence against her mounts, will she clear her name and dicopver the identity of the murderer and reach her ultimate goal of finding Bex.
Plenty of twists and turns in this one as the storyline moves along at a furious pace.
A definite winner in my eyes, I have no hesitation in recommending Silent Suspect, many thanks to Neygalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this as an ARC.

This is a really good fast paced read. There is a lot of action and a lot packed into the plot. Kerry Wilkinson really knows how to write a really good thriller.

This series just gets better and better! I think anyone who read book 12 in this series couldn’t wait for book 13 as we were left hanging on wanting more after Jessica received a phone call from her missing friend Bex at the end of the book. We find Jessica leaving her team in Manchester and setting off to Blackpool to try and find Bex. She had traced the call to a phone box and on investigating sees a missing person poster for another girl with a telephone number on it. This sets Jessica on a dangerous path. After ringing and meeting this man, giving him her card, she is greeted the next day by the police at her door as the body of this man has been found with her card on him, so now Jessica finds herself as a chief suspect in a murder enquiry and her own life in danger. Can Jessica continue to seek out her friend and clear her name at the same time without her team to back her up? She meets up with Fran and a close group of women who she has to turn to for help and also a ‘familiar face’ turns up to give assistance.
This is a fantastic read and had me completely hooked. It is a gripping thriller that will have you worrying for Jessica and her friends safety. A highly recommended read. I will have to be patient for book number 14!
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

This series never disappoints. This one has Jessica out of her comfort zone and searching all out for Bex. This mystery is full of twists and surprises that will keep you guessing. As the author states, this is the end of the second season of the series. I can't wait to see where he takes Jessica Daniels next and I hope we get to see more of some of the new characters we met in this book. Another highly recommended read!

Wow, great twist on the standard police procedural. What happens when the hunter becomes the hunted? Jessica Daniels is one of those fictional characters who feels like a friend. When she finds herself framed for murder, who can she turn to? The most brilliant character in this book however is Fran, who I’m hoping will crop up in future novels. Kerry Wilkinson never disappoints.

Being a fan of Jessica Daniels books and having missed a number of them i wasn't sure how I would like it.

The book was thoroughly enjoyable and I fell in love again with the story telling about Jessica Daniels.

While not my favourite that i have read it does have so much good about it.

Jessica is one of the most intriguing characters that I have seen. She is such a strong character who just seems to get into trouble and wasn't sure she could get out of.

The plot is intricate the characters I didn't care much about until Fran and the girls came into the picture. That part of the story was interesting and moved smoothly

This is the 13th book in the Jessica Daniels series. It picked up right from book 12 where Jessica received a phone call from Rebecca (Bex), who disappeared mysteriously from Jessica's house where she'd been living after a life on the streets! The phone call came from Blackpool so Jessica heads straight there to the phone box where the call was made!
Jessica becomes a suspect in two murders!
It's a twist to have Jessica on the wrong side of the law. Also without her team!!
Absolutely brilliant from start to finish! Fast paced and full of twists and turns.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read this arc.

Firstly thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this advanced copy.
This book is the long awaited follow up to the cliff hanger of Book 12 and it certainly is well worth the wait. Set in Blackpool , this story takes you on a roller coaster of a ride in Jessica's search for the missing Bex. Although this is book 13 in the series, it is still as fresh as the first. I highly recommended this book. A welcome addition to the series. Excellent.

Silent Suspect is the thirteenth book in the Detective Inspector Jessica Daniel series and is a thrilling, heart-pounding read. From page one, it's a tension-filled, intense and high-octane rollercoaster ride, and at certain points, I found my jaw on the floor. I was in its grip rapidly and not released until it was all over. It held my attention a little too well, but that certainly isn't a complaint! Wilkinson's characters are almost always real and relatable, and here they are well developed. However, their motivations and decisions are flabbergasting to me. The story is a far-fetched one, but isn't that what fiction is for? I guess the answer to that is dependent on individual preferences.

There are a few interesting twists and turns throughout that propel the story forward, and main protagonist, Jessica, is as tenacious as ever and her no-nonsense approach ensures she gets the results she wants. Each of these books can be read as a standalone, but it's beneficial to read them from the beginning and in chronological order to see how recurring character evolve and grow.

Many thanks to Bookouture for an ARC.
