Let me preface this by saying I have been a fan of Sex and the City and Lipstick Jungle, the two series for which Candace Bushnell is best known. I loved how her characters were so relatable that you either saw yourself or someone you know in each of them.

Unfortunately, overall this book just didn’t have that same pull. For starters, I didn’t realize this book was non-fiction until nearly 20% of the way into reading it. I thought it was similar to how Bushnell created Carrie Bradshaw–semi-autobiographical but still fiction. I didn’t realize the story was purely autobiographical. As other reviewers noted, the way her divorce and the death of her dog are described was so distant that it felt emotionless. Without revealing any spoilers, the end of the book was the only portion where I felt true emotion and felt that it was honest, candid writing.

Overall, the book was easy to read and I enjoyed reading it, which is why I’m giving it 3 Cosmopolitans out of 5. However, I felt the book was directionless and it didn’t pack the same punchy humour and witticisms of her past work.

Thank you to Net Galley for sending me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

!am a massive Sex And The City fan so couldn't not read this one! The book literally continues where the story left off... this time Candace and her friends are single, divorced and in their fifties - just how you may imagine the original SATC girls now.

! loved that her books have moved with the times and now we see the introduction of Tinder for example. There were some more serious parts to the book - suicide and mental health plays a big part in one story line (a trigger warning).

!This book inn't going to win any awards but is an enjoyable read and I would definitely recommend to any SATC fans who, if anything like me, will read the story in their head as if Carrie Bradshaw herself was narrating!

Absolutely loved this book! As a woman of a similar age it is spot on and I was laughing my head off as well as identifying 100% with all the many dilemmas and challenges Candice described. Thank you for letting me read it.. please make a film next

As an avid Sex and the City fan, and a fan of Candace Bushnell's other works, I wanted to read this book even though I knew the topic wasn't related to Sex and the City. A true life book about dating in your 50s, this book is humorous and heartfelt. I think women of all ages can relate to a lot of what Candace and her friends go through in this book, and it was eye-opening to see things from a perspective different than my own as a married 30 something. I could even see this book turning into a show and I'm sure it would be quite successful.

I wanted to like this book, being a huge Sex and the City fan, but it just wasn’t for me. It seemed to be all over the place, and I couldn’t really care about the characters having no frame of reference for who they are.

Another successful book by Candace Bushnell on what life is really like for single men and women in. this current dating climate. Personally I don't live in the city where some of these scenarios tend to be most prevalent, but I do know many women who do and this is dead on! Tinder and the world of online dating are a hectic and ever evolving door of people putting on a great face then ending in utter disappointment or being let down.

Continuing to grow her 21st dating commentary is astonishing because everyone of her books with similar subject matter all feel so fresh and relevant and right in line with the times.

I liked the idea of this book more than I enjoyed the actual book.
I did not finish reading it.
Thank you for sharing it with me.

I was beyond excited to learn there was a new "Sex in the City" book. I thought it would feature the characters from Sex and the City, and it took me a while to realize the main character was Candace Bushnell herself. However, before I even comprehended who the story was truly about I was hooked. The book was well written and funny, and it provided such a wonderful perspective of period in life that so many women experience - getting over, starting over, and dating after long term relationships have ended.

I was excited to get back into Candace Bushnell’s world. Twenty years after Sex and the city took the world by storm, we get to revisit the friendships, the humor, the sex, and the city. I couldn’t help but hear Sarah Jessica Parker’s voice as I read each chapter. I enjoyed the nostalgia, but the woes of a 30-something don’t translate to those of a 50-something, single or not. Women in their 50s are much more confident, and tired. (This comes from personal experience.). I enjoy Candace Bushnell and her stories, but if you long for Sex and the City, go back and read the original or buy the DVD.

Thank you to both NetGalley and grove atlantic for my eARC of this book in exchange for my honest unbiased review

a fun read but hard to get though as it related nothing to the old sex and the city novels or show and i thought it would in some way? if you take away that disappointment it was ok but should not be linked to them feels a little miss sold?

I absolutely loved the TV show Sex and the City but I never read the books. When I saw that there is a new book by Candace Bushnell I decided to read it. I got exactly what I expected. The book felt like I was watching it on TV. It is made of particular episodes: about bicycle men, about cubs(very young boys and older women), about 50+ depression, about love after the divorce.

I am neither in the same age category as the author nor do I relate to the things she was describing but I really liked reading about it. It is an easy book. It will be great to enjoy on vacations or during flights, or road trips.

It is not a masterpiece but I enjoyed it very much and will recommend it to my friends. The copy I received was generously provided  by NetGalley and Grove Atlantic in exchange to my honest review.

I wanted to like this book. In its day, Sex and the City was sharp, witty, funny and cutting edge. And today, the subject of single women in their 50s is ripe and relevant. But ultimately, Is There Still Sex in the City felt like reading a woman's mid-life crisis. Unlike its namesake, this isn't fiction, and it starts on a depressing note. While it has its moments, it's an uneven book: shallow yet not breezy, and lacking the depth and wit that the subject deserves.

Loved this book! I was a huge Sex in the City fan, and was excited to get an ARC of this from NetGalley. It was a quick, easy read keeping us updated on all the shenanigans Bushnell has in her middle years. From the new mid life crisis, to dating apps, to finding new love, to losing a friend and all the drama in between. I really enjoyed catching up with her!

CALLING ALL SEX IN THE CITY FANS! Run - don't walk - to grab this book! Back in the day I was a HUGE Sex in the City fan. I was in my 20's when SATC was in its heyday, but I couldn't get enough. I loved the novel, the show, the movies...all of it. So I was very excited to be approved to read an ARC of Is There Still Sex in the City.

I was so enraptured while reading this book. While I was watching the show and reading the first novel, I was dating. Now reading the sequel, I am married with kids and have moved on from my SATC days. It's refreshing to read that the basis for the show has moved on as well - or have they?

Reading this story, I had to keep putting it down for my kids, but I was always so eager to pick it back up and dive back into Candace's world. I was riveted from the start until the end. I felt the ups and downs. I felt the pain and sorrow. That last chapter before the epilogue may stay with me for life.

I highly recommend this story for all my chick-lit fans who have always loved Sex and the City!

A refreshing view on life in New York for the 50+ single woman. Folllw the trials and tribulations of dating as a mature woman and the different types of men you meet. In the background, I can hear the voice of Carrie Bradshaw narrating! A fun, enjoyable and poignant read. Definitely recommended!

I was excited to read this book because of the author and what girl doesn't love the sex in the city show. Only, this book has nothing to do with the show. This is a light read but just never got into it. The storyline was very bland and disappointing. I received an ARC of this book and as always give honest reviews.

SO dang funny! I love Candace Bushnell so naturally I was thrilled to see she had a new book coming out. In the first chapter, I was literally laughing out loud while lying in bed reading.

Bushnell gives us aaallllllll the deets on dating into your 50s and it is no joke. I highly recommend this hilarious story!

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and author for a copy of this ARC.

Was liking it but it ended 75% in to the book, which was a disappointment and I couldn't finish it.
