What a wonderful story, great plot twists. I really want this Island to be real, and I want to live there. I hope there will be more stories about the wonderful neighbors. Terri Osburn writes very full, realistic characters. I always feel like I know these people.

I really enjoyed reading "Ask Me To Stay".

I loved Terri Osburn's writing style, particularly the author’s descriptions of the setting. She made life on the fictional Haven Island, which is off the coast from South Carolina, so appealing to me.

The journey I took was quite special as I followed the lives of the main characters, the introvert and author/ ghostwriter Liza and Kendall James, the islander. It was glorious to read as I watched the progression of their relationship.

This book was so good that I will be adding Terri Osburn to my list of newly discovered authors, for sure!

If you are looking for a sweet romance with a bit of intrigue, then you will enjoy this book.

Thanks to NetGalley, Montlake Romance and the author, Terri Osburn for my complimentary copy of Ask Me To Stay. My honest review is entirely voluntary.

I am a big fan of Terri Osburn's writing, and this book is my favorite of hers to date. I loved the way that Liza and Kendall slowly built their relationship rather than falling right into bed together and calling it love. Kendall's hesitation to get involved where Liza was concerned made total sense, and the way that these two came together was organic and very real – nothing felt forced or inauthentic. I also really enjoyed the intrigue and mystery involved in Ray's story. Although I kind of predicted some of it, the “big reveal” had me glued to my Kindle until I finished the book.

If you enjoy a good love story that is more than just your typical romance and has a really interesting side plot, you should read this book. You won't be sorry.

I really enjoyed this book! I don’t know why but I felt like I could visualize this perfectly into a movie. It would be a great plot line and I really enjoyed the kind of but not really twist.

This was a well written story. Liz is an author writing a memoir of Ray. She has to work with Kendall James to do this and he is not so sure about her. As Liza and Kendall work together, their relationship grows. Terri Osborne takes readers on a journey you won’t want to put down.

Lovely emotional read. Liza is on Heaven Island to write a memorial for Ray Wallis. The first man that she meets is hot sexy Kendall who is not thrilled with her present and especially not with her intention to write. Liza and Kendell get to know eachother and they start something knowing that it has an expiration date. But the truth comes out and it ruins almost everything. I loved the story is funny, is romantic, emotional, full of family drama and angst. I loved both Kendall and Liza they are both great characters and everything is combined in a great and enjoyable read.

Thinking she’s a “One Hit Wonder” on the Best Seller’s list, Liza Teller jumps at the chance to write a memoir. After accepting an advance, Liza leaves New York City and heads to Haven Island. Liza has one month to interview Ray Wallis, ask questions and get an idea of how to make his story her next “best seller”. What she didn’t expect was a brooding Kendall James and his lovable dog Amos. She also didn’t expect the people of Haven Island to be so welcoming and friendly. Or the Island itself, to clear her mind.

Kendall James wants Ray's past to stay buried in the past. Kendall doesn’t agree with Ray that it’s “time” to tell his story. Although Kendall doesn’t know the complete story, he does know enough to know there could still be repercussions if Ray’s story went public. As such, Kendall is at constant odds with Liza. Until he isn’t...

Liza and Kendall’s love story is one for the ages. Overcoming their own parent’s failure at love and marriage, made them doubt their own true feelings. In their case, absence really does make the heart grow fonder! I enjoyed Miss Prim and Proper being accosted by Amos. But dog kisses, pitiful eyes, and endless unconditional love finally won her over! Liza’s snake encounter was hilarious (although I would’ve reacted the same). Kendall’s caring nature and love for his mom made my heart flutter. Tears of sadness, but also of joy were abundant. I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own

This book brings us from the past to the future as Liza Teller was hired to ghostwrite a book for Ray Wallis. The secrets that will come out in her interviews are almost too much for her to handle. She finds herself in this book and has to determine who she is. Times are not as they were for Ray he gave up so much in his life to make it safe for his family. Now he wants his story out no matter what the ramifications are going to be.

I enjoyed this story it is a new genre for Terri Osburn and I feel she did an awesome job.

Since best-selling first-time author Liza Teller has writer’s block, she accepts a ghostwriting assignment to pay the bills. As she arrives on South Carolina’s desolate Haven Island, she begins to question the judgment of leaving herself at the mercy of strangers. Little does she know that it’s not physical risk she need fear, but something potentially more destructive. She’s there to pen the memoirs of Ray Wallis, a long-time recluse who doesn’t show up in her research. The first person she encounters after disembarking the ferry is a surly bear of a man, Kendall James, who resents that she’s profiting from Ray’s story with revelations that might put him at great risk. Unsurprisingly, the passionate anger between them soon evolves into something more.

Osburn does a masterful job of blending a suspenseful mystery with a budding romance while introducing an unforgettable cast of characters, including Amos the pit bull, and the beautiful South Carolina flora and fauna. It’s a cautionary tale of not judging by first impressions and the lengths people will go to protect the ones they love. There are moments of both sadness and joy, as well as some steamy scenes. It all adds up to an absorbing tale not soon forgotten. Highly recommend.

Ask Me To Stay by Terri Osburn

Layered lovely story of a ghost writer who gets much more than she bargained for when she heads out to write Ray Wallis’s memoirs. She finds a place she feels at home, makes true friends that she has not found in the city, realizes she is not really against dogs after all, manages to break through her writer’s block and finds a man to fall in love with. Who does she fall for? Kendall James. He picks her up at the pier but is an abrupt grumpy huge man that I slowly warmed up to just as Liza did. I don’t want to give away the story that unfolds so beautifully so will say that I truly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it!

Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake Romance – This is my honest review.

Terri Osburn has become one of my auto-buy authors. Her books are real with flawed characters I can easily love. When I received an invitation from the publisher, via Net-Galley, to read and review Ask me to Stay, I quickly accepted. My opinions are my own and are not influenced in any way.

As with all Ms. Osburn’s books, I was immediately pulled into the story and couldn’t stop reading until the last word. The pacing is quick and lively without feeling rushed. The writing is emotionally-charged with just the right amount of description.

Liza Teller’s character quickly captured my attention, and I became vested in her right away, even though her flaws her there. I identified with her fear of the dog in the story because I had that as well until my husband insisted, we get one. I quickly fell in love with my Marlee and now love dogs. This happens to Liza as well.

What appealed to me was Liza’s willingness to redirect her career when her muse grew quiet. Writing a memoir is quite different from writing fiction. She showed great deal of patience with Ray, and her affection for him touched my heart.

Kendall James is a great hero, exhibiting all the characteristics I most admire in a hero. He is very much the protector. He is immediately drawn to Liza in a big way, but of course, he fights that attraction. He is very protective of Ray and is concerned that he wants his memoir written since there are secrets that could cause a huge issue for the elderly man, and Kendall’s family as well.

The chemistry between Liza and Kendall is apparent from their first meeting. Liza certainly doesn’t want to be attracted to Kendall and fights it in the beginning, but she can’t resist him. I enjoyed their romance and wanted them to find their happy ending.

If you’re looking for a character driven love story with engaging characters and believable plot, then you will love Ask me to Stay as much as I did. This book appears to be a stand-alone, but an excellent one. Happy reading!

An emotional read that I could not put down. Author Liza has been asked to write the memoirs of Ray. Not sure why she was asked but she was willing to give it a try. Ray lives on a remote island, Haven Point off the coast of South Carolina. Here she meets Kendall and Amos (Kendall's dog). Kendall also lives on the island, along with a few other diverse residents. Knowing Liza is only there for a short time, is he willing to open his heart out to her. They are a close knit community. Ray is a mystery to all, but soon the secrets will come out.

This is a slow paced story that I did not want to see end. I laughed many times and shed many tears. This is more of a women's fiction with elements of romance and mystery. This is a well written book that I highly recommend.

This book has all the ingredients for a great contemporary women's fiction/ romance. Mystery, great characters, romance and more.. 5 stars from me on this. It truly is a treat to read.

When Liza got a offer she could afford to lose she found herself on a small Island. When her ride showed up he was tall and handsome but a complete jerk. In Kendall’s defense he was expecting a man.
Along the story you will see a friendship grown between Liza and the Island people. The writing of Rays Story keeps you coming back. Wanting to know what he reveals next and the slow friendship to love story of Kendall and Liza.
A heartfelt story of Love, sacrifice and Lose. You will cry, laugh and love this book. A must read book.

Terri Osburn’s Ask Me to Stay is a sweet romance that centers around an elderly man’s memoirs. Without Ray, Liza and Kendall would have never met. Still it is their meeting, relationship and romance that is at the heart of this story. Two not so different characters who must learn to understand and trust each other, before anything lasting can grow. Then there is also Amos, a unique four legged character to round out this SC island group.

It is a very enjoyable story with the slow build up of the romance between Liza and Kendall. Fabulous description of place so that even the romance seems to be on island time. Wonderful fit of characters to relationships to the place.

I really enjoyed this story. Liza is going to Haven Island to write the memoir of Ray Wallis. He is a delightful old man who wants his story told. Kendall is against Ray having his story written and does everything he can to get him to change his mind. That is until he meets Liza. As Kendall and Liza grow closer, they are thinking of changing their lives. She lives in New York and he will stay on Haven Island until Ray dies. He promised his father he would stay with Ray until the end. Will she wait for him? He won't ask her to stay on the island because of what happened with his parents. The problem is, Ray holds a secret that can change their lives. It could be a change for the good or the bad.

This was a pretty good story. Liza a writer has hit a brick wall so her agent gets her a book deal writing a memoir for Mr Wallis. Liza has to travel to the remote island to meet this reclusive subject. She is spooked upon arriving. She has no idea who is meeting her and is worried she is going to meet with her demise. The island is a group of close knit group of people. There is no night life and no stores there most come for the solitude.
Liza meets up with Kendall at the docks. He has an instant dislike for Liza because he doesnt want the old man writing about his past. As Liza learns about Mr Wallis's past her feelings for Kendall grow.
Are Kendall and Liza ready to let go of the past? Could Mr Wallis be a key to there future? You will have to read and find out.

Book provided for and open and honest read.
