This story follows Ronnie and Jack. Ronnie meets Jack at a bar (the night before she is supposed to meet with a new driver for her bosses) and intends on using him in order to get some rest...until she finds out his name and realizes she’s supposed to meet with him the next day. Ronnie, who sticks to one night stands, can’t sleep with Jack and then work with him so she bails.

Jack, on the other hand, is not happy with Ronnie’s proposal to keep things strictly business and it was great watching him slowly weave himself into her life. Of course Jack has Howler and his brother Brody (who we met in book one of the series) to help.

Although some of the plot to this book seemed to follow a similar pattern as the first book, I enjoyed reading about Ronnie and Jack and still enjoyed reading about their story. A great addition to the series with just enough suspense to make it interesting.

This is book two in the series Road to Love. In this book you get to see who Jack meets and falls for. This story is very reminiscent of the first installment. Ronnie is sent to the brothers driving company by her boss. She is to work with Jack while she collects odd items for her bosses. While doing so, they end up getting caught up in a bit of danger. They end up falling for each other along the way. Jack and Ronnie are such a cute couple that you can’t help but love! I can’t wait to see what their “adoptive sister” story will be.

Imagine finding someone who could turn yours head, your eyes never leaving theirs and then find out who they actually are...this story definitely has it all. Great read!

SLOW RIDE is the second book in the ROAD TO LOVE series, and I was immediately immersed in the story. This is Jack and Ronnie’s story and oh, what a story it is. She’s skittish and only does one-night stands. He loves playing the field. When they first meet in a local bar, sparks fly until she learns who he is. Since they are supposed to work together, although she tries to convince him not to take the job, all bets are off. I loved how they interacted and how she learns to trust not only Jack but his family too.

We’ve met Jack and his family—mom, brother, and sister-in-law—in the first book in the series, DRIVEN TO DISTRACTION. I like that they had roles in this story and were not just mentioned in passing. Brodie’s dog, Howler, is once again part of the story, but so is the kitten that Jack and Ronnie find and rescue while on one of their jobs. They name him Peanut, and I love how he and Howler spend time together. Where one is, the other follows.

There’s a darkness to the story due to Ronnie’s family life. Some ugly things have happened to her. There’s also someone out to get her. Her bosses are definitely quirky, which makes it fun. As in the first book, Brodie and Jack’s business, Mustang Transport, is once again involved. I enjoyed getting to know more about the characters and seeing how easily Ronnie could be included if she let herself. Watching Ronnie learn to depend on others is heartbreaking, but seeing how she and Jack understand each other and how she’s included by everyone in Jack’s family really made the story.

The story is filled with family and friends. There are good guys and bad, secrets, and danger that makes the romance pop. There’s a nice flow to the story as well as nice closure. In the back of the book is a teaser from the next and last book in the series, as well as excerpts from two other books—SISTERS OF SUMMER’S END by Ms. Foster and DOWN AND DIRTY by Rhenna Morgan. I look forward to reading all of them.

Ms. Foster is an author whose books I enjoy, even though they have lots of heat and are sometimes a little more edgy than I like. I look forward to reading whatever she pens next.

Another intriguing and fast paced book. I really enjoyed getting to know the new characters! You get more backstory and an adorable new dog is added to the mix!!

Howler makes more cameos, who doesn't love Howler?!

Growth and happiness abound, with action and drama, and plot twists! I love the Crews Family!

This series has such an odd, quirky setup but I'm really enjoying it? I don't know how there are so many possible different setups of collectors of the odd, but the found family themes here are my favorite.

I have always enjoyed Lori Foster's work. This one did not disappoint. With amazing characterization, unique story development, and plausible problems that developed with a natural feel, I took my time and savored Slow Ride. The only small bit of trouble I had was the attitude of the main character, Ronnie, was an immediate turn-off until I got past the set-up of the book. This wasn't a problem, it just means the author did her job really well as that initial impression was needed for the progression of the character's journey and transformation.

Well worth the read!

Slow Ride by Lori Foster is the second book in the Road to Love series. This can be read as a stand alone. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Ronnie. I had already previously met Jack. Ronnie is a very head strong and smart woman. I was very impressed with her and the way she has handled everything thrown at her. Jack is protective and strong. This book is very good.

Jack and Ronnie's story had me glued to the pages. Between the mystery, the laughs and the tears, I was thoroughly invested. Another fabulous read from Lori Foster. Be sure to add Slow Ride and the other books in the Road To Love series to your TBR list!

Slow Ride in the second book in Lori Foster's Road to Love series, but it's the first novel I've read in the series, and it worked just fine for this reader as a standalone. It was certainly a well-written and entertaining novel of romantic suspense, but I did have a bit of a disconnect with the ending, and for that reason, I'm giving it a 4.5 star rating.

We meet the heroine, Ronnie Ashford, in the opening sentence of this novel and she's quite different from every fictional heroine I've ever read about--she's tought, she's hard as nails, a total badass, and prickly as all get-out, and any attractive and petite woman who walks into a small town Ohio honky-tonk alone, looking for a one-night stand certainly is a risk-taker, and she's a risk-taker in spades.

Ronnie, we learn, has been on her own for some time, and when she needs a distraction, a one-night stand, which she controls, is what she uses to scratch that itch. She's not there at the bar long before a major distraction comes through the door, a total hunk, and she thinks he'll scratch her itch just fine, but after a coy flirtation at the bar, they're both feeling the sizzle between them, and agree to a one-night stand, but before they leave the bar, someone he knows mentions his name, Jack. It turns out that Ronnie is in town to meet meet with someone she may soon be working with. and that someone is Jack Crews.

Ronnie works alone as an acquisitions agent and prefers it that way, working exclusively for two rather macabre twin brothers who collect both exotic and downright weird oddities, and since they seem to rarely leave their home, Ronnie picks up their latest finds, but they now want her to have a man go with her on these assignment. When Ronnie gets to Mustang Transport, she again meets Jack, and since she prefers working alone, and doesn't want a man coming along, she tells him that if he refuses the job offer from the twin brothers, she'll have sex with him, but since he's intrigued and as sexually attracted to this tiny brash and snarky woman as she is to him, he wants the job and accepts her terms, but that doesn't mean he'll stop trying to get her into bed.

Ronnie has not had an easy home life. When her mother accuses her father of infidelity and he denies it, her mother blurts that she had a fling, and Ronnie isn't his child. After that her loving father wanted nothing to do with her, and after running away with just the clothes on her back, she is kidnapped while sleeping in her car with the windows rolled down. She manages to escape, he abductor is now in jail, but that doesn't make the memories of her terrifying ordeal go away--she suffers from nightmares and flashbacks and as a result, she trusts no one but herself, feels unloved, unattractive and unwanted by her family. She never lets anyone gets too close to her, but that's all Jack wants to do, not to just get close physically, but because he is both kind and caring, he wants to know all the ugly secrets that Ronnie hides from everyone, believing that all attachments to people do is hurt and disappoint you in the end.

As Jack and Ronnie start working together, things get more than a little weird. Ronnie is convinced someone is watching her, and as the two are sent out on several pick-up assignments, there's something hinky with each and every one, and they're getting creepier all the time. After several incidents, each one scarier than the next, the suspense ramps up into high gear, because Ms. Foster also lets us into the mind of whoever is stalking Ronnie, and he's seriously both creepy and deadly. But who is he? Why is he after her? Better yet, who is after her? Although we read this criminals thoughts, and we even learn his name, but what's the connection to Ronnie? While I had my suspicions, I was wrong, and and because I believed that a different person was toying with her and wanted to get his hands on her, I found that the arrest and capture of this person near the end of this novel although suspenseful, turned out to be rather unsatisfying, and I'd have much preferred the bad guy to be the person all the signs were to pointing throughout the novel.

I did love the heat Ronnie and jack generated with their explosive sexual chemistry, and I loved how Jack treated her, in bed and out. I also loved that these characters were animal lovers and animal rescuers, and Mustang Transport were kept quite busy picking up sad, beaten down, and abused animals and turning them over to an agency who placed them in loving homes. Their attitudes about animal abuse resonated strongly with me, as did their love and care for a couple of the animals they rescued and kept, which were also a heartwarming part of this novel.

So, over-the-top hotness, kindness to animals, love and care of family relationships, healing from trauma, a long slow ride for Ronnie, the increasingly bizarre and dangerous assignments and the slow ride toward Ronnie leaving some he issues behind, all made for a very good, very hot, and very emotional read. I recommend it.

I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.

Slow Ride is the second book in the Road to Love series by Lori Foster. The Crew family are far more entertaining than I could imagine. This is Jack’s story. Jack doesn’t know it yet, but his life is about to take the most interesting of U-turns. *wink*

Jack Crew is a sexy, intelligent man who can melt anyone with his charm or, so he thought. In walks Ronnie Ashford. I stifled a laugh at Jack and Ronnie’s measure of one another, the whole bar faded into the back ground. Later after all is revealed Jack felt as if he didn’t know if he wanted to strangle her, or both.

Veronica aka Ronnie has a chip on her shoulder a mile wide and with good reason. As a professional courier Ronnie acquires packages for her bosses. Upon having some bad luck on pick ups Ronnie’s bosses hired the Crew’s to be the driver for Ronnie, but Ronnie had her own plan for Jack Crews.

Jack ad Ronnie are too much fun, from the barbs they sling to the I want to drown in your passion they both feel. Ronnie has had her fair share of jerks in her life, but Jack is hard to resist so she knew she had to one up him. Jack is all smiles, but he takes things deeper than Ronnie knows.
The Crew’s close nit family as well as Ronnie’s Bosses Drake & Drew are the best support Jack and Ronnie can have, but I got to say Brodie is getting some pay back at Jack for the things he dished out in book #1 Driven to Distraction Brodie & Mary’s story. The plot is as good as it gets for me, tons of family, heart, suspense and heck yeah even the weirdness of the story was a plus. *chuckles*

I can’t wait to get my hands on Charlette’s story (aka adopted little sisters), look out boys Charlette’s gate keepers are watching.

Ronnie Ashford doesn't want anything to do with Jack Crews because she can handle it all on her own. A chance meeting filled with lust, a serial killer wanting what is his, estranged family ties, and a look at what a family should be has them taking a Slow Ride to true love.

Ronnie needs a distraction from the memories that are plaguing her tonight. A trip to the local bar and the very, very mouth watering man who just walked in will do the trick. Jack is immediately attracted to the woman at the bar. They make arrangements to go back to her hotel room but before they can she finds out his name and realizes he's the man she has an appointment with tomorrow. Neither has had a good nights sleep. Ronnie tries to persuade Jack not to take the job, but the attraction makes up his mind for him. A trip to a biker bar to pick up the latest piece of memorabilia for her bosses has her making a plan but she can't go through with it. She tells Jack that they can't sleep together until he quits. As they go on trips picking up the memorabilia they get to know each other and reveal their pasts. On one trip to pick the memorabilia they save a kitten from being abused and bring him home. Jack's brother's dog takes the kitten under its protection. They decide to call him Peanut. The lust and attraction are so strong they have a hard time keeps their hands off each other. They're sent on another trip this time an attempt to hurt Ronnie happens and it sends them to the police. They have sex and she freaks and leaves and has a rock thrown at her by the person after her. She goes to her apartment and spends a few days. A meeting is set up with her bosses and Jack is given a tour of their collection. Ronnie comes to stay with Jack because she's scared and he wants to protect her. As an excuse Jack and his brother come up with a plan, but she sees right through it. Ronnie meets Jack's mom but doesn't want to get close, but mom won't have that. A woman's day is planned for them and Ronnie does the others makeup. Jack and his brother check into who is after Ronnie. Another trip to the biker bar ends with someone being killed and Ronnie warned away. Jack realizes that the person looking for Ronnie at the hotel and the man at the bar are the same person. Ronnie is sent a threat against her sister. She calls to warn her and finds out about her parents. A call to her father has him changing his feelings toward her but she's not buying it. A meeting with the bosses leads to danger. Ronnie is drugged but fights back. Jack and his brother come to the rescue. He's realized his feelings for her awhile ago even though they haven't been together very long. Jack almost looses it when he sees the condition that Ronnie is in. The police and EMS are called to the scene. The guy is taken into custody and they find out that he's a serial killer and Ronnie was his next victim and that she's delivered to her bosses one of his trophies. She's shocked by all the love and support she's getting. Jack asks Ronnie to move into his house but she wants to take it slow. She keeps her apartment, until about Christmas time when her father comes to see her. She reveals her feelings for Jack and marriage is mentioned. Jack brings her an early Christmas present. Ronnie's life is finally in a great place and Jack is very happy.

Lori Foster continues the Road to Love series with younger brother Jack Crews and the woman he has to chase and figure out. Ronnie uses sarcasm, defensiveness, sex to distract herself from her past. And hide the fact that she has a very big heart. When they meet the lust and attraction are so strong they can't deny it but try. You wonder who is after her and what he wants. Is getting back together with her estranged family a possibility? I'm anxiously awaiting Charlotte's story and sorry to hear that this will be the last book in the series. Who is the man she can't resist?

Although Slow Ride had the same sort of premise that Driven to Distraction had (strong independent women, stubborn protective men, crazy collectors, dangerous suppliers, etc.), the stories were different enough to keep things interesting.
Ronnie thought she had Jack Crews figured out... turns out, she wasn't even close. Jack knew from the beginning that there was more to Ronnie than what she appeared to be - which only made him want to get to know her better.
Their connection is hard for either one of them to ignore and despite Ronnie's protests, the romance that follows is inevitable. Between Jack and his family and Ronnie's eccentric bosses, she slowly discovers that connections she never thought possible might actually be within her reach.
Slow Ride had pretty much everything that Driven to Distraction had as far as danger, suspense, and heated romance goes. It looks like the next book in the series, All Fired Up, which features Charlotte, is going to add a whole new layer to the intrigue. I can't wait to see what Lori Foster has in store for the Crews "family" next. ;)

This was such an awesome addition to the series. I know it's only the second book, but it flowed so we'll from Brodie's book. This was Jack's book. I liked seeing this side of him; he's not such a buttoned up guy. Ronnie was a great match with him, too.
