Opposite attract as Ronnie and Jack are forced to work together in an effort to obtain obscure artifacts for their bosses. A little suspense, a lot of heartfelt emotion, and plenty of spicy romance round out this delightful tale that bears more than a little resemblance to the first book in the series- but you'll have so much fun you won't mind a bit!

5 Stars!

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, suspense, and heartbreak.

If you have not read the below, they are also part of this series so if you want to read the entire series try reading those books(s) first
Driven to Distraction (Road to Love #1)

This is Ronnie and Jack's story. Ronnie’s bosses want to hire Jack and have sent Ronnie to get him to sign the contract. There have been weird things happening an they want to protect her and the items they are acquiring. When Ronnie first gets to town, she sees Jack and does not know who he is they almost leave the bar together until she finds out just who he is. She is fuming. She does not want him to take the job. She can handle anything that comes her way. Jack wants her and is determined to have her. When they work together Jack can see that danger is following her, but can he convince her that he wants to help and is willing to help her no matter what? When the danger gets closer, they must decide if she is better off staying with Jack. Can she handle him taking over? What happens when she starts falling? Will she still be able to walk away in the end? Or will the danger make sure she has no choice but to walk away.

I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from this author.

Ronnie is a “courier” for her employers, who send her to pick up macabre collectibles, which struck me as kind of like a gothic version of American Pickers. The people she deals with are often a bit dangerous, and after a bad close call, her employers insist she work with Jack Crews as a guard and driver. She’s very reluctant, and on her way to the first interview with Jack, she and a hot guy in a bar hit it off, only for her to accidentally discover her aborted one night stand is the guy she doesn’t want to work with.

I usually adore anything by Lori Foster but the heroine in this book just seemed to rub me the wrong way in the first few chapters. She’s very strong and spunky, which I like, but she also came across as a bit pigheaded and too proud, at least in the beginning. As I got more into the book, it revealed more of her backstory and I began to like her more.

And the story has that Lori Foster trademark suspense and danger, which really makes the hero shine. I loved Jack as well as his family and it really kept me reading when I should have gone to bed. He’s strong and alpha and macho and absolutely hot, and his chemistry with Ronnie is off the charts. Their attraction is instant, but at the beginning it lacked a bit of emotion for me, perhaps because I didn’t empathize with Ronnie as much as I liked Jack’s character.

The romance got much better as the book went on, and I ended up enjoying it very much by the end.

Thanks to Netgalley and Harlequin for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book had me captured from the first scene in the bar when Ronnie has decided to pick up a stranger, until he tells her his name. I couldn't wait to see how the interactions between Ronnie and Jack would progress throughout the book as they got to know each other more. This book has it all - humor, suspense, family dynamics, and adorable animals. At points in the book, the animals even steal the show. Can't wait to read Charlotte's story next.

The Story in 4 Sentences or Less: Ronnie has a meeting with the arrogant Jack Crews and she’s got to convince him not to take it but before the morning comes she wants to have a little fun with the tall, dark, and handsome stranger that walks into the bar she’s sitting in. Unfortunately, he IS Jack Crews, talk about a buzz kill. Jack is determined to win Ronnie over, no one has ever gotten to him like she has but she’s not going down without a fight. If he takes the job that Ronnie wants him to turn down he can spend more time with her but she’s made it clear she doesn’t want to need or depend on anyone but herself.

Like It? Hate it? Love it? Why? From the moment Ronnie and Jack meet the sparks fly and I had a good chuckle when Ronnie found out the hottie she wanted to hook up with was none other than the man she was determined to hate. Their banter brought a lot of life into the plot and I found that it suited these two perfectly.

Ronnie is strong willed and more than capable of taking care of herself but she could also be unnecessarily stubborn and she frustrated me sometimes because even when she knew she was in over her head, she couldn’t let go of her pride and yes, her ego in order to work as a team with Jack. She was carrying around a lot of baggage but she grew on me with her moments of vulnerability where she showed herself to be funny, kind, and just as protective as Jack.

Jack was a sweetie with a mischievous side. He liked to needle Ronnie in order to get her to relax or to let her guard down enough to needle him right back. He also had this protective, caring side that was just the right balance for Ronnie’s standoffish personality. I enjoyed his more laid back attitude versus Ronnie’s high strung one.

Slow Ride had an overall brisk pace that made me feel like a part of the action but at the same time the romance between Jack and Ronnie was a slow burn with plenty of humor and emotion. I felt that the pace of the romance made it more believable because these two characters had some growing to do and a quickie romance would have been ridiculous.

Click It or Skip It? Click It. Lori Foster can bring an exhilarating plot to life all while making sure the romance is steamy but believable.

Lori Foster is just a good, solid storyteller. I follow her on social media, and she seems like a regular person, involved with her children and grandchildren, still approachable and interactive even after all her books and success, and I find her books are as comfortable and inviting. I love this Road to Love series, and I enjoyed the second installment, SLOW RIDE, even more than the first. You gotta love the dichotomy of a transporter who is both a natural protector and a gentleman, and a hot-ass sexual dynamo. Ronnie Ashford works for a pair of eccentric twins who collect oddities. She’s hasn’t had a storied life until now but is happy and successful in her job … which makes it all the more difficult to accept the assistance her bosses are forcing on her: hire a professional courier to help acquire their purchases. Her work is dangerous and attracts unwanted attention from unwanted people. Too bad the help she has to accept is also unwanted. Jack Crews is the transporter of choice and unwanted or not, Jack is capable of keeping Ronnie and her oddities safe. She’s prickly and unlikable at first, but Jack is so … opposite … and determined to let her know how he felt. There’s a huge flip-flop feeling with this story, which I liked, wherein Ronnie has more of the standoffish romantic apathy typically associated with men, and Jack is more emotionally available.

Ronnie and Jack’s story will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. I had trouble connecting with Ronni’s character at first, but quickly warmed up to her as I got a deeper look at who she was. Howler and Peanut are adorable and stold the book. It was good catching up a bit with Brody and Mary as well. In typical Lori Foster fashion, the characters are well developed with an engaging storyline and an evil villain. All in all, another excellent read!

Slow Ride is the second book in Lori Foster's Road to Love series. Each book can be read as a standalone but after you read this one you'll want to go back and read the other brothers' story.

"It would take time and effort to win her trust, but already he knew she'd be worth the effort."

After being introduced to Jack Crew in the first book I was really looking forward to getting to know him better and oh boy he did not disappoint. Jack was such a gentleman, polite, charming, caring, protective and damn sexy. I loved everything about his characters, no complaints from me. However, Ronnie Ashford, took me a second to warm up to. That was just who she was though, she has gone through something traumatic and has set up walls of steel around herself. She uses attitude and aggression as a shield, and Jack is slowly able to break it down. When she opened up she was vulnerable, caring and lonely. Jack was the perfect man to break her out of her she'll help her sees herself as the beautiful, strong and worthy of love.

"One day she'd been fending off literally everyone, and then boom. Jack Crews was in her life, refusing to leave, kissing her silly, making her smile."

Overall, I really enjoyed Slow Ride by Lori Foster. The Crew brothers are great characters that I love reading about and I'm looking forward to the final book in the series.

Slow ride is the second installment of the Road to Love series by Lori Foster. I have been waiting for Jack's story and Lori did not disappoint. This is a good book for anyone who enjoys contemporary romantic suspense novels.

Ronnie is ready for a no stings attached one night stand when Jack ruins it by stating his name. Ronnie collects oddities for two eccentric brothers who hire Jack to assist Ronnie with pickups after a series of dangerous pickups. Ronnie has been let down by people closest to her in the past and has learned not to trust. Jack on the other hand has always had a strong support system. Together Jack and Ronnie face danger, rescue a kitten, discover that family is not always who you are born to but who you choose and find each other. Howler ends up adopting the rescued kitten and Ronnie ends up keeping Jack.

Lori Foster is one of my favorite authors. If you haven't read one of her books you need to try one. I started out reading one of her MMA books and from there I have now read all of her books still in print. She is a master at contemporary romantic suspense novels. I can't wait for her next novel in this series.

Slow Ride
Road To Love Series - Book 2
By Lori Foster

HQN - March 2019

Contemporary Romance

Ronnie had come to offer Jack Crews a job. She intended that he not accept the offer her two bosses were insisting she make. She was fully capable of working by herself to drive and handle the transactions for her bosses' newest acquisitions. However, they insisted, and that was how she found herself in town.

From the moment Ronnie and Jack meet, the sparks fly. But they fly even hotter when she learns exactly who the man was. She would not enter any type of relationship with him, personal or business. She would make the offer, he would reject, and she would happily be on her way - on her own.

Jack's brother already did similar work for someone else, and Jack was well aware of the dangerous situations Ronnie could be facing. He was also intrigued by the prickly Ronnie, and knew that time alone on the road could be just what they needed.

Slow Ride is the second in Lori Foster's new Road to Love series. Ronnie is very standoffish and doesn't connect with people except in a superficial manner and it was hard to connect with her. However, Jack is a typical Lori Foster hero stepping in and able to be the hero that Ronnie needs. I enjoyed the time with Jack's family, but even more, the storyline of the kitten they rescue and its relationship with the dog that had been rescued in book one. I am definitely interested in the third story coming soon.

I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. Ronnie does not need help from anyone and she wants to keep that away. She needs a night out to blow off some steam and tension. She sees a hottie enter that bar but when he tells her his name is ruins the moment. He turns out to be the guy she is supposed to offer the job to and she does not want too. The chemistry between Ronnie and Jack is not completely instant for both want something more, but they are fighting each step of the way.

I usually love anything by Lori Foster but this book was a miss for me. I will say as just in the first book I loved Jack and his family. The suspense was ok, the romance ok. My problem was that I found Ronnie super annoying. She was supposed to come off as tough but to me she was just mean. I found her character so bad I kept having to put the book down and do something else.

I have mixed feelings about this series. The overall romance is okay. I find the main characters to have too much of a savior complex. They save animals. And women. And are just too squeaky clean and nice. But, I can look past that and enjoy the romance a bit. What really throws me in this series is the backstory. I do not understand the oddity collections. Nor do I understand why this is a recurring theme in the stories. Murder and freakish items mixed with romance just isn't a great combo for me. Others might enjoy it though. Overall, I rank Slow Ride 2.5 stars (rounded up). Its readable, but not as enjoyable as other Lori Foster novels.

Hot & Steamy is the theme of the 2nd book of Lori’s amazing series, and I cannot wait to for the rest! Jack keeps Ronnie on her toes throughout with his friendly demeanor and sweet disposition. But don’t be fooled, because there is lots to look forward to underneath! Jack will keep everyone swooning from the first page to the last!

As a great extra layer, our four-legged friend Howler gets a great new sidekick which adds a different dimension to the story. This is one of my favorite things that Lori includes in her books... the depth of adding pets the story-line.

Don’t miss out on another perfect piece from one of my favorites!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Slow Ride is the second book in the Road to Love series. This book is about Jack ( Brodie’s brother). He and Ronnie fall for each other. Their story is full of bumps but it makes the end sweeter. I love the characters and animals. I can’t wait for Charlotte’s story.I received an ARC from NetGalley, and this is my honest review. #SlowRide #NetGalley

Book two of the Road to Love series, “Slow Ride” features Jack Crews and Veronica (Ronnie) Ashford. I enjoyed the story an the characters. Not real fond of the stuff the collectors in this and the previous book ‘collect’ yuck factor 😊. That said, I love the action, the interaction and the development of the story and characters as it progresses. Ronnie works for a set of twins, who are just totally off the wall, and she needs Jack to help her gather the collection items. She doesn’t want to need him, but comes to realize that without him the problems she runs into would be so much worse.
I love Lori Fosters books, she always has such a great style of writing, and this is another good one. I received this book in digital form as an Advanced Reader Copy for an honest review. I liked this one!

Jack is pretty polished and always seems to be nice and polite but after he meets Ronnie, his protective side also kicks in. Ronnie has been abandoned, lied to, blamed and hurt by her family so trusting, accepting and getting close to anyone just isn't part of her life or plan. She's instantly attracted to Jack the minute she sees him but fights the feelings. They agree to work together and although she doesn't like Jack's protectiveness, she comes to appreciate it as well as the man himself. When Ronnie is in danger, Jack goes out of his way to make sure she's safe and she's concerned he'll get hurt. Thank goodness for Jack's brother Brodie who agrees to provide backup. Great the way Jack's family accepts Ronnie and works to gain her trust and love. Enjoyed the interactions between the family members. Great book and quick read! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving my review.

Slow Ride is the second book in the Road to Love series. Like most of Lori Foster’s books, this one does not disappoint. You will fall in love with Jack Crews! He is a natural protector, much more polished than his brother, Brodie. Jack uses his “well-mannered civility like a weapon, bludgeoning people with it!” Jack treats Ronnie with great care, always analyzing how to respond to her prickliness.

Ron (Veronica/Ronnie) Ashford is an independent, quick tempered, very confident and courageous woman who relishes pushing Jack’s buttons. Always trying to make Jack lose some of his politeness. Many of Lori’s characters are animal lovers and will not stand by and watch an animal be mistreated! The animals in Lori’s books are just as lovable and interesting as her heroes and heroines.

The attraction is immediate between them and sparks fly. All of Lori’s characters are interesting and lovable, from Howler, the dog Brodie rescued, to Charlotte, their assistant. The reader can’t help but fall in love with Jack, who is always jumping to the defense of helpless maidens, innocent cats! I received this ARC from NetGalley, and this is my honest review.
