Slow Ride
Great story that grabs you from the first line to the end.
I loved the suspense and mystery surrounding Ronnie.
Ronnie goes to Jack to hire him for a job that she doesn't want him to take but he's too intrigued in her not to take it. When they realize someone is after Ronnie, Jack is determined to find out who it is and to protect her even though she thinks she can handle everything on her own. Lori Foster has done an outstanding job on this story.

Well now I can't decide who I like better - Jack or Brodie! I loved this book and I am going to give the author a big high five for writing a man like Jack!
When Ronnie first meets Jack, she's looking for a one night stand. When she discovers that he is actually who she will be meeting for business the next day, anything sexual gets put on the back burner. Ronnie is prickly, has been put aside by other people in her life (including her family), and she thinks Jack is just a suit, a pretty boy, but he shows her so much more!
I loved Brodie, but Jack is just amazing. He reads Ronnie and understands her from day one and knows how to ease her in to the thought of forever. He is just the best.
There is also some action in this book and I couldn't predict what was going to happen from chapter to chapter, which I love. Lori Foster is quickly becoming one of my go-to authors for romance and a little bit more.

SLOW RIDE is a mixture of sad, hilarious, sweet, steamy, thought-provoking and fun. In other words author Lori Foster at her best. Y
ou will soon be caught up in the danger and drama they face. And, of course, one should not forget the way Ms. Foster makes her readers melt as the romance builds, so SLOW RIDE is a fantastic read.

I was hooked from the beginning of the story. I was so happy to get Jack's story & it was wonderful. Even though this is book 2 in the series & is a stand alone book I am happy I read the first book in the series first. I enjoyed the sparks between Jack & Ronnie which started right away. Both are stubborn in different ways. I liked their personalities & how they get things done.

This is the second book in the Road to Love series and I enjoyed it more than the first. It can be read as a standalone. Jack and his brother Brody, who we met in the first book, run Mustang Transport. Ronnie is a feisty woman who comes to town to meet with Jack to discuss an employment opportunity. Truth be told, she really wants no part of working with another person. Arriving early for a morning meeting the following day, Ronnie goes to a bar and decides to find a way to distract herself from her tortured past so that she can get some needed sleep and a reprieve from her pain. Jack is hungry after working and enters the bar to grab a bite. When he catches Ronnie’s eye, the dance begins as the two are like sparking wires looking to connect. The banter/sexual tension is overt and in the next few minutes the two are leaving together. However, plans go awry when another patron inadvertently calls out Jack’s name; effectively putting the brakes on any one night stand that Ronnie had considered. Can they keep things strictly business between them? Throwing in a little mystery, suspense, a scorching romance and Howler the d-o-g, kick back and prepare for the ride that will have you feeling good all over.
I read an advance copy provided by Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed Jack and Ronnie's story The crazy situations that they encountered while collecting oddities for Ronnie's bosses were interesting and kept me guessing about the identity of the bad guy.
It was fun catching up with the characters from Driven to Distraction, and I'm so glad that we got to see more of Brodie's dog. I absolutely loved the scenes with Howler!
Slow Ride was a great read! I look forward to reading Charlotte's story next.
I voluntarily read & reviewed a complimentary Advance Reader Copy from NetGalley.

Heart pounding excitement, sweetly sexy, emotionally thrilling and action packed adventure filled with so much passion, drama and dangerous twists..... loved this exciting journey between two exciting, sexy and stubborn charters that were just meant to be. Don't miss this adventure!

Good story, 2nd in this series, in the same vein as the 1st book with the brothers' transport business.
Jack will melt your heart and your panties, with a ton of patience and love where Ronnie is concerned. Ronnie is a lot broken, and the whole Crews family, by blood or not, helps this wonderful woman find her place with them.
There is drama here with twists, and a bit of the macabre as Ronnie's bosses collect anything weird or abnormal.
All the action, heat, snark and funny bits keep the story moving at a fast pace, with Howler and the new Peanut adding to the goodness.
I received an ARC from the author thru Net Galley, all the opinions are my own and voluntary

Love Lori Foster! Jack is the calm and polite brother of Mustang Transport Courier Service. Jack is a HOT alpha male who is protective of those he cares about and can be a total bad ass when the situation calls for it. Ronnie is sent to town by her employers to hire Jack as her driver when she is sent to purchase items for their collection. Ronnie knows the only person she can trust is herself, so she planned to offer the job to Jack and convince him not to take it. The chemistry between Jack and Ronnie is instant and explosive. Can Jack prove to Ronnie that she can trust him? Can Jack protect Ronnie when danger comes after her? Jack and Ronnie are great, but I really loved Jack's family, the twins, and the fur babies, Howler and Peanut. This reader found Slow Ride entertaining from the beginning to the end. Slow Ride by Lori Foster is a fantastic read with drama, intrigue, danger, laughter, and passion. Lori Foster is a MUST read author for this reader. I would highly recommend getting Slow Ride by Lori Foster. I received an ARC of this book, and I am leaving my honest review.

So much fun! The way Ronnie and Jack net was priceless! There is never a dull moment with edge of your seat, nail biting action! Twists and turns keep you guessing. This book might be called “Slow Ride” but it’s anything but! Ronnie and Jack sizzle! You also get a healthy dose of Howler and a new friend! That’s all I’m saying! I highly recommend this book.
I received and ARC from Netgalley and this is my honest and unsolicited review.

Jack Crews is expecting to meet a man about a job. Except it turns out it's not a man. Ronnie Ashford is Veronica Ashford and she's tough as nails and independent. She's had no choice but to be since she's been on her own essentially abandoned by her family. Jack takes the job much to Ronnie's chagrin but he also wants Ronnie. This is a follow up book to Driven to Distraction, Brodie's book. Ronnie has had some really bad things happen in her life. Because of that she's protected herself from relationships and emotions. Jack's had some of this own heartbreaks but he's always had a loving mom and supportive brother and pseudo-sister. There's no way Ronnie can defend against the Crews family. Watching Ronnie slowly lower her shields and learn to trust in Jack was fun to see. There is some suspense and danger in this book as someone has it in for Ronnie. The question is who and why. Love this book and the Crews family. Excited to see what comes next!

Jack Crews can’t believe that when he meets Ronnie, Veronica, a small, gorgeous distrustful, “Chip on her shoulder” woman, he feels an instant attraction and the more she tries to antagonize him, the more he is attracted to her. Slow Ride is the second book in the Road To Love series by Lori Foster, but can be read as a stand-alone, something Ms Foster does well. Jack Crews and his brother own Mustang Transport, and do pretty much what the title to their company says. They pick up and deliver items, large and small for customers. Ronnie works for a pair of twins who specialize in collecting “Oddities”. She does not want a partner to “help” her with her collections of such Oddities, but the twins insist. As it turns out, much to her dismay, Ronnie is a magnet for crazies, and one of them is after her. With Jack by her side, Ronnie finally finds a family and learns to trust. A wonderful book to read. The characters felt very real to me, and i enjoyed the humor and well as the tension this story garnered. I have been a Lori Foster fan for years, and her books just get better and better.

I am a long time true fan of Lori Foster's writing - she writes stories that I can actually feel connected to and her new series "Road to Love" started out wonderful, I really loved the first book about Brodie and Mary but I really had a bit of trouble with the second story in this series. I love both the brothers in both stories but with Jack's story I had a real dislike for Ronnie - she just did not jell for me. I did of course love the interaction of Peanut and the rest of the family. Would I recommend this book, yes I would, The story of the brothers of Mustang Transport is a great story full of wonderful characters with a compassion for fun and true family. I am looking forward to Charlotte's story next.
"I received an ARC from NetGalley, and this is my honest review."

I really enjoy when an author "flips the script" on us and takes what we, the readers, would typically think of as male characteristics and gives them to the heroine. You don't see that too often in contemporary romance, but that's just what Ms. Foster did with Ronnie in Slow Ride. She's someone who's more interested in scratching an itch, rather than getting involved with someone long term.
Ronnie gets more than she bargained for with Jack Crews, though, in both her personal and professional life. When things don't go as she hoped professionally, she does her best to keep her distance personally. But with Jack, that's kind of a lost cause, as he slowly breaks down the barriers she's built around herself. He's just as persistant and caring as his brother Brodie, and it would take someone far stronger than Ronnie, and she's pretty damn strong, to resist everything he offers.
While things between Ronnie and Jack are heating up, so is the mystery of who and why someone is after her. I have to admit, I think I might have to steer clear of their little town, there's just a bit too much craziness going on there! Where do these people come from that collect all these oddities, and why is someone else always after them?!? But it sure makes for an entertaining story!
I'm loving the Crew's family. Jack, Brodie, and their mom Ros, along with Charlotte, sure know how to make someone feel cared for and loved. I can't tell you how excited I am for Charlotte's story- the little peek into the next book has definitely piqued my interest!

Strong heroine with a crazy past.....check
Incredibly compassionate hero who loves animals.....check
Crazy things that happen during courtship....check
Must be another amazing Lori Foster book! One can always count on some laughs, gasps, awwwws & love in her books! Another winner!

This was another fun and sexy romp through this chemistry driven story. Ronnie acquires antiques for her employer and they have determined she needs to hire Jack Crews as a driver and bodyguard and she is not happy about it and she is just as determined he is not going to take the job. Especially since she has a strict policy to not mix work and pleasure and the night before she is to meet up with her new bodyguard she decides to get out and work off some frustration with the gorgeous man who walked into the bar. She is all set until he leans in and whispers in her ear, "My name is Jack Crews." The banter between these two kept the pages turning faster than my kindle could keep up at times. This was a smoking read and I thoroughly enjoyed it and didn't want it to end. There was an element of suspense to keep it cooking! I am really looking forward to Charlotte's book! Definitely recommend this one along with the first one in this series.

"Slow Ride" (Road to Love Book 2) by Lori Foster is a terrific read. This is a great follow up to "Driven to Distraction". I loved Jack and Ronnie's story. This is a fantastic addition to this series, packed with action, romance, passion, entertaining characters, humor, family, and more. I enjoyed getting to catch up with Brodie, Mary, Howler, Ros, and Charlotte. I'm anxious to read what happens next in the series in Charlotte's story! Highly recommend to all fans of romance, action, and series.

Slow Ride by Lori Foster
Road to Love #2
Mustang Transporters my be a bit tamer than the movie with Jason Statham in it but it is based on the idea of someone going to pick up and deliver items. In this book there are twins who collect rather unusual items for a collection they keep in their basement and Ronnie Ashford is their go-fer. When Ronnie meets trouble one day the twins decide she needs some muscle by her side so hire Jack Crews to be that muscle and driver on pickup and delivery. Ronnie is NOT thrilled with having a minder and for quite awhile tries to shake Jack off...but over time...that all changes and a romance brews. Throw in a bit of suspense with a bad guy out to add to his personal even MORE creepy collection and you have an interesting story with trust won, family defined, suspense and some hot romance. The next book in the series will be that of Charlotte and an a half brother of Jack and Brodie who comes to visit...or so says the end of this book.
Did I like this book? Yes
Do I want to read the next book in the series? Yes
Was this book significantly different from the first in the series? Very similar
What did I find charming? Well, Jack and Brodie but also Howler and Peanut...they almost stole the show!
Thank you to NetGalley, HQN and the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.
4 Stars

Another great read in this new series by Lori Foster. I did see similarities to Mary and Ronnie on their backgrounds and how they both were alone and felt abandoned. Jack is the perfect match to Ronnie. He knows exactly how to get her to open up and show her love without her running away. It takes time but in the end it's all worth it. Both Mary and Ronnie have gained a great new family and the Crews family have gained some terrific women.
*I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.*

Good second installment in the Road to Love series. This one is about Jack, brother to Driven to Distraction's Brodie. Jack is the face of their business, Mustang Transport Courier Service, as he presents a more refined persona than Brodie does. Where Brodie is blunt and occasionally on the raunchy side, Jack tends to be calm and polite to just about everyone. Both men are drop-dead gorgeous, protective, and bad-ass when they need to be.
Ronnie was in town to meet with the man her employers wanted to hire as her driver when she purchased items for their collections. She didn't want the help. Over the years Ronnie learned that the only person she could depend on was herself. She planned to offer him the job, but convince him not to take it. In the meantime, she wanted a distraction, and the sexy guy who walked into the bar was just what she was looking for.
The chemistry between Jack and Ronnie was combustible from the very beginning. Ronnie knew she wanted him as soon as she saw him, and Jack was right there with her. That first meeting was intense but also funny. Ronnie made her desire very clear and was in a rush to make it happen. Jack was just as attracted, but he was also somewhat amused by her intensity. He got a kick out of throwing a delay in the works by insisting on eating his meal first. But once he finished, he planned to enjoy himself. The sparks flew between them until he happened to mention his name, at which point Ronnie threw on the brakes. If they were going to work together, there would be no hanky-panky.
I loved the development of the relationship between Jack and Ronnie. Jack was determined to get her into his bed, but he also saw that he would have to get past her walls first. Spending so much time together to collect the items for her bosses gave them time to get to know each other and for Jack to show Ronnie that she could trust him. I loved his patience and his ability to put Ronnie at ease, making it easier for her to open up about herself. Her prickliness and independence fascinated Jack and no matter what she did to try to push him away, Jack would not budge. I loved how easily he saw past that façade to the woman underneath, and how much he liked her. Ronnie worked hard to keep Jack at an emotional distance, but his clear respect for her and her abilities went a long way toward getting past her walls. She also had some serious self-esteem issues making it difficult for her to believe that he truly wanted her just as she is. The chemistry between Ronnie and Jack was intense. I loved watching the tension between them build until they could no longer hold back. One of the best things was seeing the always- in-control-of-himself Jack lose it when he was with Ronnie. The connection between them went much deeper than either expected it to. Jack accepted it first and became intent on showing Ronnie that they belonged together. She was a tough nut to crack, intent as she was in protecting her heart from further pain. I loved their big moment at the end, as Ronnie finally believed that Jack's love wasn't going anywhere.
I liked the suspense in this story better than the previous one, as it seemed more intense. Some disturbing occurrences were what drove Ronnie's bosses to insist on her hiring Jack as a driver/bodyguard. Ronnie wasn't convinced that she was in real danger at first, but escalating events finally made her see reason. I loved Jack's protectiveness, and even Ronnie eventually had to admit that she felt safer with him. The occasional part told from the bad guy's point of view made the danger Ronnie was in practically ooze off the page. The final confrontation was truly frightening for both Ronnie and Jack. I loved Ronnie's presence of mind and her contribution to her rescue. I ached for Jack who was afraid that he would lose her. That confrontation had me on the edge of my seat until it was over.
The secondary characters are fantastic. Ronnie's bosses just seem weird at the beginning, and more interested in their odd acquisitions than in Ronnie's safety. But the more I saw of them, the more I liked them. It was also clear by the end that they cared for Ronnie and thought of her as family. As far as families go, Ronnie's was horrible. I hated the things that they did (and didn't do) to her. Jack's family, on the other hand, was wonderful. I loved their closeness and their support of each other. There was also a lot of teasing that went on, and it was fun to watch Ronnie's reactions when she was around them. I also adored the way that Jack's mom, plus Charlotte and Mary, mad Ronnie one of them so easily. The makeup session part was hysterical, and I loved seeing Jack and Brodie trip all over themselves trying to recover from stupid comments. I can't wait to read Charlotte's book. But my favorites had to be Howler and Peanut. I loved that mutt in the previous book, and he continued to make me smile and laugh in this one. Peanut was the kitten that Jack and Ronnie rescued and who wormed his way into both their hearts. I loved the parts of Howler and Peanut together and the image of that big dog taking care of a tiny kitten.
