Ohio – Present Day
Ronnie Ashford prefers to work alone as an artifacts collector but her employers insist that she hire Jack Crews to help her. Her plan is to offer him the job and make it so unappealing that he’ll turn her down. The night before she’s to meet Jack, Ronnie enters a bar where she meets a stranger and they hit it off. Just as she’s about to invite him back to her room for a night of meaningless sex, he tells her his name: Jack Crews. No way is she going to sleep with him now. But Jack is intrigued by Ronnie. Will he end up taking the job—and tormenting her the whole time?
Jack will do whatever it takes to make love to Ronnie. She’s fiery and passionate—so surely she’s this way in bed? Her job as an artifacts collector also intrigues him because the objects that she gets at the direction of her employers are decidedly macabre and bizarre. So, Jack agrees to help her, even if she doesn’t want him along. However, when the assignment turns dangerous, it’s a good thing Jack is around, though Ronnie is more than capable of taking on foes. What is it about the job that is making a seemingly mundane task suddenly treacherous?
Ronnie and Jack never expected that they’d need each other as SLOW RIDE opens. Ronnie is a loner who likes working solo. Jack is surrounded by his loving—even if they’re somewhat unorthodox—family. Readers who’ve read DRIVEN TO DISTRACTION, the first book in the Road to Love series by Lori Foster, will remember Jack as the brother of the hero. Jack works alongside his brother, Brodie, at their autobody shop. To help supplement their income, they take on driving assignments. The moment Jack encounters Ronnie in the bar, he wants her. But she is as prickly as a porcupine and refuses to divulge too much about herself. Little by little, he finally learns enough that he is soon more than attracted to her. When danger begins to stalk her, it’s Jack to the rescue.
Ronnie once had the perfect family life but her world came crashing down at age eighteen when her life shattered. Since then, she’s been on her own and working as an artifacts collector—alone—and it’s the perfect job. Despite Ronnie making it clear to Jack that she’s not interested, he’s glued to her side. But once they are ambushed at the site of the pick-up, she’s glad he’s there. Is Ronnie the target or is it about what she’s trying to buy for her employers? As Jack and Ronnie try to figure out what’s going on, they have to make sure they don’t get killed. Meanwhile, their sizzling attraction can’t be denied and they’re soon hitting the sheets. But Ronnie isn’t into commitments. Can Jack make her change her mind?
SLOW RIDE is an entertaining tale from beginning to end. There is a slow burning attraction between Ronnie and Jack right from the start. Add in the suspense of why they’re being targeted for what appears to be some nefarious reason and SLOW RIDE becomes the perfect blend of romance and mystery. Don’t miss putting this enjoyable tale at the top of your book shopping list today.

I'm super excited to be reading Slow Ride, which is the second installment of the Road to Love series by Lori Foster. And as with all other Lori Foster books, Slow Ride starts off in a way that you cannot put the book down, even if its 2 am and you have to work the next day...sleep is for the weak right!
But on with the story! Veronica "Ronnie" Ashford is on a mission, and that mission is to find the driver her boss wants her to work with and convince him that he doesn't need or want the job. But the night before the meeting, Ronnie needs a distraction and after a trip to the local bar, it comes in the form of 6 foot tall, light brown hair, and "delicious biceps", Well it would have been perfect until the distraction whispers the words "I'm Jack Crews"
Now I'm not going to go any more into the story, as it will basically end up just one big spoiler, but I have to say that I did enjoy Ronnie's character a lot! She has had to fight for everything in her life, and she is determined to do things her way! And if you have read Driven to Distraction, then you will find certain similarities to Mary, but Ronnie has more spunk and sassiness that I love.
Jacks character is lovely too, I really enjoyed his sensitivities to others, but also his steadfast determination to protect those he cares about, especially Ronnie. I also love his love and respect for his mother which is something we don't often see nowadays.
Slow Ride is a fantastic read, that left me sleep deprived, but happy, which is why I give it 5 stars!

Lori Foster does it again!
As a long time fan of this author, I can honestly say her stories just keep getting better.
Slow Ride is the second installment of this Road To Love series and I gotta say the heat level was turned up just a bit for Jack and Ronnie.
Jack is Brodie's brother. (If you haven't met Brodie yet, you're missing out on a yummy treat.), Anyway, Lori turns up the yummie-ness with Jack by giving him a bit of that Alpha intensity that all girls like.
Ronnie, she took a while for me. I was about a quarter way into the book before I decided I liked her. She's a little more than rough around the edges and she guards her independence to the point of being almost mean. (My opinion). But she won me over the second she baby talked a tiny, feral critter.
This book is full of heart, healing, and steam.
Jack and Ronnie will hold you captive until the very last word.
Thank you Lori for the opportunity to read and review this book.

This is the second book in a series. I’ve been interested in Jack since the last book. Ronnie needs to hire Jacks transport business to find and collect artifacts for her employers. As in the last book the items that need to be transported are interesting and unexpected. Jack and Ronnie have a connection from the first meeting but she doesn’t like to let people in to her life. Jack is not deterred and patiently finds out why Ronnie is so skittish and slowly wears down her walls. There is also suspense with someone after Ronnie. It’s a fun interesting story with complex characters. It’s good to see Jack help Ronnie through her personal demons. He and his family show her what a real family looks like. It is also suspenseful and the book is both fun and fascinating to read. I’m looking forward to Charlottes story in the next book.

I did enjoy this book more than the first in the series; however, the plot is very similar between the two. The relationship development between Ronnie and Jack did feel more authentic. There were some inconsistencies that I noticed, but they didn’t affect the overall story. It was intriguing and somewhat suspenseful; and did leave me guessing as to who was stalking Ronnie.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Loved it! Lots of action and romance! Ronnie and Jack have awesome chemistry. Needed a fan for this one! The story keeps you on your toes! This was definitely a wild ride!

I loved the first book in the Road to Love Series so I was excited to read the second, Slow Ride. Jack is the complete opposite of Veronica, Ronnie, and you know what they say about opposites attracting. Lori Foster weaves suspenseful and original subplots into their love story which makes this a book you can't put down. I highly recommend the series but this book can stand on its own. Go fast, not slow to buy Slow Ride!

Book two in the Road to Love series was highly anticipated by me since I enjoyed the first installment to the series. At first, I was a bit confused by the similarities of the plots: a peculiar collector(s) have a person, a beautiful young woman with dramatic family drama, on their payroll, and because of the danger of the job, their need a man to drive and protect her while collecting the odd things from the buyers. The man feels instant lust, the woman is not ready for a relationship, there is an adorable rescue animal to smooth the way, and the extended family surrounding the brothers cheering them on.
With two so similar foundations for the tales, the personalities of the brothers, the heroes of the stories, started to stand out. They are brothers, so there are those endearing family trades. But Jack Crews has deeper dimensions than expected, He is not the timid, uptight person one might expect, a 'suit' as Ronnie Ashford called him. He is considerate and kindhearted, he looks after those he loves, the family is everything to him, and the tenderness he shows with the little kitty -- just delightfully swoony, indeed.
The story has action, danger, and suspense that gave me the creeps. The stalker is disturbingly sinister, and as part of the story is told by his menacing point of view, you really get into the reality of the possible peril at hand.
Jack and Ronnie have tangible chemistry. They have a connection that might seem fragile because of Ronnie's issues but Jack is a smart man who is not about to let Ronnie walk out of his life. His patience and perseverance was not something Ronnie expected. The brightly burning desire he has for her is not enough for Jack, he wants it all, and is willing to go the extra mile to make it happen.
Lori Foster knows how to entertain the readers' minds, the emotions run deep, the desires burns hot, and the threatening suspense gets under your skin and makes you check the locks in your house one more time...
A ravishing, entertaining love story enhanced with family drama and intimidating suspense.

I received an ARC of Slow Ride and this is my honest review.
I love all of Lori Foster’s work but I really had trouble getting in to this book. It seemed to take forever to get to the suspense and action and therefore took me much longer to read than what it should have. I kept losing interest and I think because it was so similar to the first book in the series “Driven to Distraction”. The story line about the girl working for someone who is acquiring very odd collectibles and coming to a guy who runs a delivery service is just seems much to much like the first story for my liking.
I did love the character though as Lori Foster always writes such strong heroines and protective Alpha hero’s.
Jack seems to be a very quiet, polite and buttoned up type of guy who doesn’t lose his cool very easily and Ronnie is his complete opposite. She is very closed up, tough on the outside girl but is very vulnerable on the inside. The two of them are the very definition of how opposites attract but it most certainly works in this story. He’s content, for the most part, to stand back and let her take the lead unless he thinks she’s in over her head. They have some awesome chemistry though so I do love the characters together.
All in all this is definitely not my favorite Lori Foster book but it was an enjoyable read once I got in to it.

Foster did it again. Another great book. Loved this wonderful story. Great characters. Loved this book.

So far this series hasn't been a bit hit for me. Part of the reason if I find the jobs that they guys help on to be strange and creepy. I realize that people do collect odd things, but that someone would have such a collection to employ people full time is bizarre to me. That whole part of the story just turns me off.
I did like Ronnie, with her prickly exterior so wanting to belong some where, any where. With Jack and his family she found her place, although she fought it for a great while. But once Ronnie gave in, she embraced the whole Crew clan and found her own special spot in it. I loved how the women bonded, loved how Brodie let Ronnie have her time with the animals and how he backed up Ronnie and Jack on a few runs.
I really liked how Jack did his best to let Ronnie know how much he liked her from the start and wouldn't let her run away. When she tried Jack was right there pulling her back in. As much as it bothered Jack, he let Ronnie take the lead on jobs because he knew she needed that.
The ending had me smiling, loved how they all were one big, happy, crazy family.

Strength and power are the underlying themes in Slow Ride. Jack uses his strength to protect; the bad guy uses his power to intimidate; and, Ronnie uses her strength and power to rise above her past and become a truly remarkable woman who has the talent and ability to save herself, but isn't afraid to accept help when it's offered.

Entertaining, suspenseful, and satisfying. I took off one star because the plot is basically the same as the previous book in this series, Driven to Distraction. A woman with a difficult past and trust issues, who works for an eccentric collector (or twins, in this case) reluctantly hires one of the Crews brothers as a professional courier, and finds herself in peril from a mysterious psychopath with unknown motives. Her alpha male hero has to protect her and save the day. So even though I enjoyed the book, and Foster writes a compelling story, the beats were very familiar.

Thanks to the publisher for an ARC to read and give my honest opinion.
LOVED IT! This author is just known for taking you on a ride, even if it is just a slow one ;) This book starts out like the first one in this series, which spun me for a loop but I quickly caught on and powered through the read. Ronnie is another one of those courier types, as she goes and gets paraphernalia for her twin bosses. They have instructed her that she needs a driver which she tries to hire Jack Crews. Some undeniable chemistry combusts between the two and sparks fly. This was such a fun book and great romance.
What did I like? The chemistry between Jack and Ronnie was panty dropping HOT! Not to mention Howler and peanut really stole the show. Ronnie rescues a kitten named it peanut and the big dog Howler from the first book takes a serious liking to the cat. Just adorable.
Would I buy this book? Yes and its a great loaner too. You might not get it back if you loan it but its a great book, and an amazing series. Love the characters and cant wait for Charlotte's book.
Thoughts for the author? This author certainly is on my automatic buy list even though she gifts me copies of her books to read. I loan them to everyone and they are always such great reads. I love that this author is really big yet she still gives out ARC's. Most authors give up once they've made it big. Kudos to her!

Strong family ties romance with a side of suspense.
I must admit I was a little surprised at how similar Slow Ride was to Driven to Distraction, the first book in Lori Foster’s Road to Love series. I think it jumped out at me as I just finished reading book 1 yesterday. Reading that book felt like a fresh experience and I was excited to read Slow Ride. Unfortunately I felt the push/pull between Ronnie and Jack was very similar to Brodie and Mary’s relationship in the first book. Too, the heroines’ employers what they collected etc just seemed too alike. That being said I enjoy Lori Foster’s writing style and I’m looking forward to Charlotte’s story the final book in the trilogy.
I received an advance reader copy via Netgalley.

"Sexy, suspenseful and heartfelt you'll want to let Foster take you on a Slow Ride." - Caffeinated Reviewer

Excitement and tension were high here in the second book of this romantic suspense series!
Veronica "Ronnie" Ashford walks through her life alone these days, and she likes it just fine, thank you very much. Her family are strangers to her now, and she only shares her body with a man very occasionally, and on a VERY limited basis. One night only to be exact. All she really has, is her job, and her nightmares. Her job is an odd one, to be sure, but she enjoys it, and her kooky, goth, twin bosses, Drake and Drew Dolby. They send her to pick up acquisitions for them around the regional area. Mostly oddities, and curiosities, and things that most people would describe as sick, or weird. She's been in a few scrapes during pickups, as these items are sometimes wanted by a lot of other people. But it's been nothing she can't handle. Still her bosses become concerned, and want her to hire a driver. Some extra muscle for her protection. She doesn't think she needs it, and she doesn't want it, especially not in the form of Jack Crews.
Jack Crews is a mostly easy going guy, who hides his anger and upset behind perfect politeness. He dresses nicely, and has a reputation as a smooth operator. He has a tight family unit by blood, and by choice, excluding his dad, who is a worthless cheater, who forgets his own kids' birthdays, and was never around much. He and his older brother, Brodie (the hero from book 1), own a business together, and when Ronnie comes to him with the reluctant job offer, he's all in. Both with her, and with the job. He just needs to convince her of that. But, he comes to realize that he has everything Ronnie doesn't: a loving, close-knit family, that stand together against whatever comes. Can he convince her that the one thing his family, and he, needs, is her??
Jack and Ronnie's connection was HOT from the moment they met. In fact, she tried to convince him to turn down the job offer, just so they could have a romp. But he wanted so much more from her, and he was determined to make her see her own value, and the value in him as a partner, both in work, and in life. I loved Jack's patience, and his love of each of her quirks, including her many moments of attitude. I loved Ronnie's strength, and her determination, and her soft heart underneath. That heart had just been hurt too many times, by too many different people, especially by ones who were supposed to love her unconditionally. She was a very special heroine, and though her prickliness bothered me at first, once she let her guard down with Jack, and I saw her true colors, she became so much more relatable.
Jack's family is a delight, and I can't wait to see his and Brodie's pseudo-sister, Charlotte, get her HEA in the next book. Though their dad was always a mess, their mom was their rock, and she still is. Charlotte helps keep their office running smoothly, and Mary, Brodie's wife, brings her own flair to the family circle. Not to mention the lovable Howler the dog, and Peanut the kitty. All of this author's side characters are so familiar somehow, and you want to know more about them. Many end up getting their own stories later, and I love that. I'd actually love to see a side plot where Ros, Jack's mom, finds her own HEA, since her ex-husband was such a disappointment.
The suspense plot here was exciting, and I was always waiting with bated breath for the next thing to happen. There were some passages from the villain's POV, and though hard to read sometimes, definitely ramped up the tension of the mystery, and it wasn't overused. I loved the way that whole thing turned out, and how it all helped Ronnie to re-affirm to herself, her own worth. She didn't really NEED Jack, but she wanted him, and loved how much he wanted her. It was a very healthy way to approach a relationship.
Overall I enjoyed this story, and I loved all the characters and their relationships as a family unit. I am anxiously awaiting the next story in this series, as I've been looking to know more about sweet Charlotte.

Slow ride is the second book in this series about a company owned by to brothers that transport goods for clients. Here we have Jack and Ronnie (Veronica) story. Ronnie boss wants Jack to accompany her on their new buys. That isn’t going to work out especially how they met and given her strong personality. This book was similar to the last regarding both having very strong heroines who don’t want to be led or show any form of weakness. The plot kept me guessing and the pair was smoking together when Ronnie was giving in. I enjoyed book and especially love the animals that play great roles in the story. I’m personally looking forward to Charlotte story. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book received from Netgalley.

I loved the pairing of Ronnie and Jack. These two people couldn't be more different which is why they were so good together. As they say, opposites attract. There is great chemistry between them and i loved the dialogue. The animals in this story steal the scenes they are in. I know this can be read as a stand alone but I'm glad I read the previous book because you see the same characters in both books. It really shows the closeness and love the Crews family shares.

Thank you to NetGalley, Harlequin and HQN Books for providing an advance copy of Slow Ride by Lori Foster in exchange for an honest review. This is the 2nd book in Foster’s, Road to Love series and just as exciting, scintillating, and filled with action-packed romance. I could not put Slow Ride down; loved the immediate slow burn attraction between Jack and Ronnie as Jack is hired and strives to do his job as Ronnie’s driver/protector as he falls for her feisty, difficult personality hiding her scary past. I always enjoy when Lori Foster adds a mystery component to her romances and boy is this one I could not put down! Not one to accept help easily from anyone, not enjoying close family ties; Ronnie will reach out to the pets; Howler is a rescue who is such a baby but fierce in his protection abilities; when abused kitten, Peanut, is rescued, Howler and Peanut become family and bring out Ronnie’s soft side. The pacing was perfect in this romance and the sexual tension, drama, and action move this lush story of mystery and romance forward. Highly recommended.
