This book can be read as a standalone in the Road to Love series, however as I do with all Lori Foster books I recommend reading them all! I thought wouldn’t love anyone as much as I loved Brodie from book 1 in the Road to Love series however Jack may have just stolen my heart. I really enjoyed his button up attitude and polite patience. It was so funny how his politeness was picked on by family members almost like it was a running gag. Jack is a very no nonsense kind of guy so it’s very interesting to see how a prickly young lady makes him loose it a little bit. I really enjoyed that he was protective of Ronnie but didn’t take it to over the top. He let her lead in most situations and let her intuition be their guide. Again, and as always I loved the family dynamic in this book, whether you are real family or not you become part of it. Lori Foster gets family dynamic down, in such a wonderful way.

Ronnie is such a wonderful opposite of Jack, she is all rough and tumble. Almost like a cactus to an orchid. (yes I just compared a man to an orchid) She has obvious backstory reasons for being so cautious around people, and I love watching her slowly lower her guard around his family. Of course Howler is the first one to win her heart. Doesn’t he win all of ours? The fact that she is self-sufficient and can use weapons makes a wonderful heroine. However Ronnie has real insecurities like any other woman and that makes her relatable. Lori Foster always seems to write real women, with real insecurities and real body types. It’s nice to read about something you might actually think or feel, it puts you more into the book.

I think the real winners of these books are the pets 😀 I always love books with pets! Let’s have more books with pets!!

I cannot wait for the next book in this series… Thank you to Lori Foster, HQN books, and Netgalley, for a copy in lieu of my honest review.

Ronnie Ashford is determined to do it all by herself. She retrieves the oddities her employers want to collect, and she thinks she does not need a man to take care of her. Her employers insist that they want to hire a driver for her. Her goal in life is to get Jack to turn down the work. But Jack is determined to get her to trust him, to care for him, in spite of (or because of?) her prickly attitude. Gradually she softens towards him and they are able to work as a team.
But someone is targeting Ronnie. She has had bad things happen to her, to the point that she doesn’t trust anyone, and she wonders why such bad things happen to her. Are the various problems related?
While Ronnie & Jack work through their problems, it gives Ms. Foster a chance to do what she does best – write about relationships. She shines when she describes family interactions. The situation is made more poignant fact by that often the “families” are not blood, but bound by other ties. Their relationships with family and pets make an enjoyable story.
I very much enjoyed this book. I read the first in the series but the story stands alone.
I was given a free copy of this book.

Rating 4.5 Stars.

I really enjoyed Driven to Distraction, book one in the Road to Love series. I enjoyed Slow Ride even more. Ronnie and Jack are perfect and perfect for each other. Oh, neither is the perfect person but they're the perfect characters to keep this book interesting from page one to the end. Ronnie is prickly on her good days. Jack is unflappable every day. Or so it appears. And what gives Jack the patience and desire to force his way through the thickest walls a girl can put up? And who's trying to get to Ronnie?

The characters in this book really make it exceptional including all the supporting ones. Jack's family is so endearing that Ronnie can't resist falling for all of them. The twins are the oddest but best employers. North is frightening. All of them give the book a page-turning appeal and a gripping depth.

I always like a good bit of intrigue with my romance and Foster delivers plenty.

Slow Ride is a wonderful story that kept my rapt attention throughout.

I love watching guys fall in love. Like completely, life flipping love. They don’t know what hit them. And it’s fabulous. This story has a little more tension than the last one but it was worth it. My heart was racing quite a few times. I had no idea where this was going.

Another type of book I like is the strong women who realize that they need help, and finally break down and allow someone to help them. Ronnie was this person. She survived something horrible and tries to hold herself together, which she has done well, but she did need help. It was wonderful to see her realize that having someone at your back isn’t a weakness. She was far from weak.

I can’t wait to read the next one!

This was a very good second book in the series. I enjoy Lori Foster. I thought the first book was a little confusing with the whole concept of the brothers being special transporters of important things. That confusion bled into this book a bit, but it was a lot more easy to understand. I definitely recommend reading the first book before this one. Lori Foster does not disappoint! Her books are so enjoyable and always make me smile.

Ronnie Ashford is asked by her employers to offer Jack Crews a job and she tries to convince him not to take it. The brothers feel like Ronnie needs a man to go with her for protection, but she doesn't need anyone's help. However, they meet at a bar the night before and before they could leave together she finds out who he is.

Jack Crews is determined to connect anyway he can with Ronnie but he has to convince her that she belongs with him. With someone being after Ronnie things get a little complicated/uncomfortable but they manage to work it out. It helps Brodie is on Jack's side and that makes Ronnie interested.

For some reason it takes me a few chapters to get into the story of this series, once I was able to do that I really enjoyed the story. There was just the right amount of suspense, drama, romance, and excitement. I'm really glad that I gave Ronnie and Jack a chance! The brothers that Ronnie works for are both charming and funny and you can tell how much they care about Ronnie's safety. Jack and Ronnie are interesting characters with one being open to love and the other being timid but trusting of people.

The very first chance readers meet Ronnie and Jack its starts off with sexual attraction. Right away it is about sex and while it is funny what happens next gives readers the book is going to be focused on the sex and sexual tension between the characters. The story moved along with moments of adventures that turned right back into sexual banter and sex. Slow ride follows the same model as the first book and while at times it could be interchangeable with the first book Driven to Distraction. Slow Ride is still its own story about Ronnie and Jack.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher HQN Books for the advance copy of Lori Foster Slow Ride

Slow Ride is the second book in Lori Foster's Road to Love series, and I liked this one even better than the first.

Jack Crews and Ronnie Ashford are SO GOOD together. Right from the start, sparks fly between them. They've got smoking hot chemistry, sharp snark and entertaining banter.

As always, Lori Foster creates such wonderful family bonds and friendships, and I really enjoyed experiencing that in Slow Ride.

Also, Howler's back and better than ever. I want a Howler. So damn cute.

Now on to Charlotte's story!

Slow Ride (Road to Love, #2) by Lori Foster...I want to give this more than 5 stars... Lori has done it again... I was pulled in and didn't want to leave...I am so happy to be on Lori's Street Team and be able to preview and review this book. Ronnie(traumatized since she left home at 18 and was kidnapped and escaped...works for Drew and Drake ) there is a new threat... Jack Crews (Mustang Transport..hired to help Ronnie collect items) There is now stop to the action, threats, tears (happy and sad) laughter, so good catching up with Jack's family, the wonderful animals, and lots of steamy stuff all getting us to a very HEA. I can't wait for the final book in the ROAD TO LOVE SERIES... Charlotte and Mitch's story.

Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Action-packed Steamy Great world building Entertaining Easy-to-read Funny Page-turner Happily Ever After Wonderful characters Romantic

I was given an ARC by Lori Foster on NetGalley for an honest review of this one.

This is the second book in the Road to Love series. I must say, although I loved the first one, I may just love this one a tiny bit more only because of Jack Crews, the brother of Brodie Crews (who we met in the first book). This book can 100% be read as a standalone. I just love how Lori creates worlds for her characters where we can meet back up with those she's already made us fall in love with.

In this book Jack is a confident, sure of himself and in what he wants. What he wants currently is Ronnie Ashford. One night in a bar while she is fawning over him starts a whirlwind between these two that is absolutely electrifying. Ronni is a collect-ress for a set of twins. She needs to hire Jack to be the driver but the passion between them is the bigger issue.

Love. Love. Love Lori. It's truly amazing how she can write such distinguished characters you grow to love book after book. This one truly won't disappoint. Just make sure you have some time to read, because if you're like me you'll want to read this all in one sitting!

Oh my! The road to love series just keeps getting better.

Slow Ride is all about Jack Crews. Jack is quiet, polite, reserved, the total opposite of his older brother Brodie whom he runs Mustang Transport services with. He's also devastatingly handsome, just like his brother.

Veronica Ashford, who goes by Ronnie, is a force to be reckoned with. She doesn't take anything from anyone, will happily tell you she can take care of herself (she can) and she doesn't believe in love or relationships. She's had a hard life between a dysfunctional family and being kidnapped at the age of 18 (luckily she escaped). It's no wonder she has trust issues.

Ronnie and Jack are thrown together by her employers who hire Jack to be a driver for her to pick up the "oddities" that they collect. They butt heads immediately, but the chemistry is sizzling just below the surface.

As they explore their new work arrangement, they also explore that chemistry as well. Throw in some drama of being chased by a deranged serial killer and it finally sinks in for Ronnie that Jack and his family aren't going anywhere.

I love how Ms. Foster tells this tale of love and shows that even a strong, independent woman who has been through hell and back deserves to be loved for who she is and it only serves to make her stronger.

"I think my favorite part is you."

Much like a feral cat being cornered, Veronica “Ronnie” Ashford fights and claws anyone that dares get too close. That is until the night she walks into the local hangout and meets Jack Crews. The chemistry is electrifying, and Jack is everything Ronnie desires, but feels she is too broken to have.

Jack Crews is drawn to Ronnie and her devil may care attitude. He sees beyond the armor she shields herself with to the woman inside longing to be accepted and loved. Jack is determined to tame this hellcat, and draw her into the protection of his embrace.

Ronnie and Jack’s romance is indeed a Slow Ride with twists and turns and enough suspense and steam to keep the pages turning. Highly recommend!

Veronica (Ronnie) & Jack got off on the wrong foot. She tried to pick him up in the bar & everything was going fine until he said his name. Once she heard Jack Crews, the brakes were put on & they each went home hurting. Ronnie is in town to offer Jack a job & she only does one night stands. When he won’t turn down the job, she takes anything else off the table.

Jack is different than his brother. His personality is more groomed, cautious, & calm - until he meets Ronnie. He’s instantly intrigued. Everything Ronnie does to push him away, pulls him closer. His naturally protective streak is upset about the situations she finds herself in doing her job. He’s determined to hold on to her one way or another. He’s a good man to have in your corner when you’re threatened as Ronnie discovers.

I love this couple! Jack has a wide protective streak which causes Ronnie to bristle. She can take care of herself. Ronnie doesn’t trust anyone except maybe her bosses. She has a lot of affection for them. From the very beginning, you could sense the push/pull aspect of their relationship. Ronnie is trying to push Jack away while he’s trying to pull her closer. The addition of Howler & Peanut added some needed levity. The contradiction of their sizes but the depth of their affection was perfect! They stole the scene when they first met! I could easily picture the whole thing in my mind.

“Slow Ride” is book 2 of Lori Foster’s Road to Love series. This time it’s Jack Crews and Ronnie Ashford who have a bumpy path to finding their happily-ever-after.

Jack, like all of Ms. Foster’s heroes, is the classic alpha male. No matter how hard Ronnie tries to get him to quit being a courier for the men she works for, Jack won’t go away.
Ronnie has a painful past and doesn’t want to let Jack in. Slowly, but surely, she does.

“Slow Ride” is sexy, suspenseful, and is trademark Lori Foster.

Lori Foster does it again. Book two in the "Road to Love" series "Slow Ride" does not disappoint. Ronnie and Jack have electric chemistry from the first encounter on.

Jack is being recruited to partner with Ronnie on her adventures. Her sometimes creepy employers send her on assignments that are often dangerous and they want her protected. Ronnie believes that she is capable of handling whatever the job throws her way but can't deny that back-up is a smart decision.

Ronnie's world fell apart when she discovered that the man raising her was not her biological father. She has rebuilt herself into a strong, independent woman. Her eccentric, twin, employers have taken the place of her family. Jack has made it his mission to be a part of her family whether she wants him or not. She definitely wants him.

The "Road to Love" trilogy does not connect to previous works.

This is the second book in the Road to Love series. It's the story of Jack and Ronnie. He's a calm polite gentleman and she's the ultimate independent woman. He's intrigued from their first meeting when she propositions him at a bar. She's all about him until she learns that he's the man who's supposed to be her partner/driver. Things are working themselves out until a threat appears then all bets are off for Jack. A great story by a great author.

Ronnie Ashford is hiding a lot of pain and has trouble sleeping. She walks into a bar one night with the intent of seducing someone. History has proved to her that this helps her to escape her demons. She finds the perfect candidate and things seem like a go until she hears someone call out his name. It is Jack Crews and Ronnie is in town to utilize the services of his transport company. She only wanted one night, and if she would be working with him, then that certainly could not happen.

Jack was enthralled, but now it seems as if it will be strictly business between him and the sexy bombshell. She makes it clear that nothing at all will happen between them. Ronnie really needs the business that is owned by Jack and his brother. Her “collections “are often quite odd and sometimes the circumstances can be very dangerous.

Meanwhile, Ronnie has had a very tough past and this is where the true conflict and even a strong element of danger enters the story. So, not only is there a sizzling romance to be enjoyed, there is a mystery that is part of the scenario. Also, we get to see Howler again, Jack’s brother Brodie’s dog. I loved Howler in the first book, Driven to Distraction. He was important then and is just as much now. Indeed, the scenes with Howler made me smile.

I loved this book and am enjoying this Road to Love series by Lori Foster. As a matter of fact, I love all of her wok and have read dozens of them over the years. Although part of a series, Slow Ride does well as a standalone.

Many thanks for this ARC to review. This is my honest opinion.

I really enjoyed Jack and Ronnie's story. It had a really good message. Jack helped Ronnie to love herself and realize people can care and love you even though they aren't family by blood. I received an ARC from NetGalley and this is my honest review.

This second book in this new series by Lori Foster is a little different from her other series. I thought the writing showed more raw emotion and the characters were very realistic. The relationship was slow building and filled with a lot of turmoil and past history that added twists and challenges.

There was romance, intrigue, and quirky characters. The story revolving around the world of “collectors” of unusual items is a fresh approach and added to the overall enjoyment of this book.

The book is stand alone but you are reacquainted with characters from the first book which is great if you have already read it. If not you will probably want to read this one as well. I look forward to the next books in the series.
