“Slow Ride” is book 2 of Lori Foster’s Road to Love series. This time it’s Jack Crews and Ronnie Ashford who have a bumpy path to finding their happily-ever-after.

Jack, like all of Ms. Foster’s heroes, is the classic alpha male. No matter how hard Ronnie tries to get him to quit being a courier for the men she works for, Jack won’t go away.
Ronnie has a painful past and doesn’t want to let Jack in. Slowly, but surely, she does.

“Slow Ride” is sexy, suspenseful, and is trademark Lori Foster.

Lori Foster does it again. Book two in the "Road to Love" series "Slow Ride" does not disappoint. Ronnie and Jack have electric chemistry from the first encounter on.

Jack is being recruited to partner with Ronnie on her adventures. Her sometimes creepy employers send her on assignments that are often dangerous and they want her protected. Ronnie believes that she is capable of handling whatever the job throws her way but can't deny that back-up is a smart decision.

Ronnie's world fell apart when she discovered that the man raising her was not her biological father. She has rebuilt herself into a strong, independent woman. Her eccentric, twin, employers have taken the place of her family. Jack has made it his mission to be a part of her family whether she wants him or not. She definitely wants him.

The "Road to Love" trilogy does not connect to previous works.

This book has the perfect balance!
The book features Jack Crews and Ronnie Ashford. From the first moment they are attracted to each other, but it takes longer for them to work out how to be in each other’s lives for the long haul.
The characters in this book are super interesting. Ronnie has been through so much and has adapted to her circumstances. She keeps all interactions with men short and meaningless, until she meets Jack. I pictured Ronnie as a take off of a Japanese Manga character.
Jack is the perfect balance of a smooth, slick man who can take care of business when he needs to. What’s even better is that he has a soft side for his family and animals.
This book features a thriller side that kept me reading. I knew I had to finish the book tonight or I would not be sleeping well, but once the climax came, it was swift and over quickly. I love how Lori Foster has that perfect balance. You read the hints throughout the book, but she never gives away too much while still keeping you in suspense. Then she always solves the mystery quickly and efficiently. It makes for the perfect romance!
Thank you to Lori Foster, the publisher and NetGalley for the free ARC in exchange for n honest review.

This is the second book in the Road to Love series. It's the story of Jack and Ronnie. He's a calm polite gentleman and she's the ultimate independent woman. He's intrigued from their first meeting when she propositions him at a bar. She's all about him until she learns that he's the man who's supposed to be her partner/driver. Things are working themselves out until a threat appears then all bets are off for Jack. A great story by a great author.

Ronnie Ashford is hiding a lot of pain and has trouble sleeping. She walks into a bar one night with the intent of seducing someone. History has proved to her that this helps her to escape her demons. She finds the perfect candidate and things seem like a go until she hears someone call out his name. It is Jack Crews and Ronnie is in town to utilize the services of his transport company. She only wanted one night, and if she would be working with him, then that certainly could not happen.

Jack was enthralled, but now it seems as if it will be strictly business between him and the sexy bombshell. She makes it clear that nothing at all will happen between them. Ronnie really needs the business that is owned by Jack and his brother. Her “collections “are often quite odd and sometimes the circumstances can be very dangerous.

Meanwhile, Ronnie has had a very tough past and this is where the true conflict and even a strong element of danger enters the story. So, not only is there a sizzling romance to be enjoyed, there is a mystery that is part of the scenario. Also, we get to see Howler again, Jack’s brother Brodie’s dog. I loved Howler in the first book, Driven to Distraction. He was important then and is just as much now. Indeed, the scenes with Howler made me smile.

I loved this book and am enjoying this Road to Love series by Lori Foster. As a matter of fact, I love all of her wok and have read dozens of them over the years. Although part of a series, Slow Ride does well as a standalone.

Many thanks for this ARC to review. This is my honest opinion.

I really enjoyed Jack and Ronnie's story. It had a really good message. Jack helped Ronnie to love herself and realize people can care and love you even though they aren't family by blood. I received an ARC from NetGalley and this is my honest review.

This second book in this new series by Lori Foster is a little different from her other series. I thought the writing showed more raw emotion and the characters were very realistic. The relationship was slow building and filled with a lot of turmoil and past history that added twists and challenges.

There was romance, intrigue, and quirky characters. The story revolving around the world of “collectors” of unusual items is a fresh approach and added to the overall enjoyment of this book.

The book is stand alone but you are reacquainted with characters from the first book which is great if you have already read it. If not you will probably want to read this one as well. I look forward to the next books in the series.
I received an ARC from Net Gallery and this is my honest review.

I really enjoyed this second book in the Road to Love series. This book had likable well developed characters, and an interesting story line that kept me guessing about what was going to happen next. I love the Crews family, both real members and adopted members, and can't wait to read Charlotte's story! This is my honest review of an ARC I received on NetGalley.

I had not read any books by this talented author in a while and was anxious to give this one a try. I have to confess that at times I felt a little at a disadvantage, since I had not read book 1 in the series.
Though the story line was interesting, the main female character, Ronnie/Ron/Veronica, for me, was not very likable. Yes, she had personal issues that were tragic, but her personification never allowed me to empathize with her. I found her too self-centered and rather nasty and in the end, ruined the book for me. Jack on the other hand, was likable and way too nice to her. So for his sake I finished the book.
I am a fan of Ms. Foster and respect all the work authors put into their craft, and know as well, that opinions tend to be subjective.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley. The opinions expressed were solely my own.

Ronnie Ashford has a strict rule about mixing business and pleasure, she doesn't ever do anything to muddy the waters between her work and home life. But when she meets the man who is supposed to become her new partner, she begins to realize that rule of hers is going to be hard to abide by. Jack Crews is gorgeous, and being trapped in the confines of a car with him for long periods of time is going to be torturous!

She doesn't think she needs any help finding and transporting the antiques her bosses want, but her bosses say otherwise. So they send Jack Crews to her doorstep, to be her driver and bodyguard. She is beyond frustrated about having him tag along on her ventures, and she is not afraid to voice her opinion about that fact, but Jack just plays it cool, and acts like it's no big deal. From the moment these two meet it's full on fireworks and of course some mild irritation too... which just keeps fueling the fire, and stirs up lots of moments to swoon over!

Slow Ride is a passionate little page-turner that delivers on all fronts, it's got steamy moments to keep you swooning, and a touch of suspense to keep you on your toes! I thoroughly enjoyed this newest installment in the Road to Love series, the instant I cracked the cover I was hooked. Ronnie and Jack were quite the pairing, their constant banter exchanges kept the evident sparks between them simmering, and the anticipation high. I've got to say Ms. Foster penned another stellar tale here, it was a perfectly blended romance, with characters that are easy to fall for! Highly recommend!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from NetGalley, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

Ronnie is prickly and abrupt but as her story unfolds the more endearing she becomes. Ronnie meets Jack when her employers send her to hire Jack to travel with her on her assignments. She tries to run him off but fails miserably. The heat between these two is off the charts and I fell in love with Jack from the beginning.
This story has an animal rescue, cute, funny animals, rotten family on Ronnie's side, strange employers and a serial killer. While I enjoyed this story at times all the different elements seemed too much. This is a ARC copy I received through Bookfunnel. At the time of my reading there were a few electronic editing issues, I'm assuming will be fixed by publication.

Ronnie doesn’t need anyone for anything at anytime. Unfortunately for her, her employers feel she needs some added muscle tagging along on her pickups for them. She heads into town the night before her meeting just looking to unwind. A one and done if you will to get her nerves settled and blow off some steam. When a tall drink of water walks into the bar she sets her sights on the prize.

Jack just stopped off for something to eat after working all day and most of the night when he sees a platinum haired beauty sitting at the bar. Making eye contact, albeit briefly, confirms that she is feeling the same pull as he is. She propositions him and together they agree no names and one night. When a local calls him out by name she retreats much to his chagrin. Turns out she is his appointment the next day.

Ronnie doesn’t like to involve business and pleasure, and what a drag that rule turns out to be in this moment. Jack is just what she was looking for to have some fun. Maybe she can bend her own rules for this one time.

Jack tries his best to change Ronnie’s mind about how good they could be together. He starts breaking down her shell and finds she is lacking more than just a good time. She just needs to feel needed, special, loved. He makes it his mission to show her just how important she is.

Ronnie finds herself the victim of a stalker and they try to figure out who it is and why they feel she wronged them. The storyline here, for me, jumped the shark a little. I couldn’t get into the who/what/why and it felt forced like a conflict was needed and this just popped up. I wish I felt more connected to the words on the page where the stalker character was involved. Aside from that small portion, I loved the characters of Ronnie and Jack, as well as the secondary characters we met in the previous book. For that reason I can only give 4 stars for Slow Ride. I received an advance copy without expectation for review. Any and all opinions expressed are my own.

At the beginning of the book I thought, wow this is almost exactly like book one. But I kept going and yes it’s similar, Jack and Brodie are brothers and they run a transport company. Mary and Ronnie both “collect” items for their bosses, but that’s where the similarities ends. Ronnie has been through a lot in a few years and it’s made her determined not to depend on anyone else. Jack manages to get through that tough exterior to find the woman within and bring her out into the open.

Loved the story, couldn’t put it down and I was happy to see there is going to be a third book in the series, Charlotte is next and ends up with someone unexpected.

I read this book during the polar vortex. Which was a good thing. With the sizzling chemistry between Ronnie and Jack, I needed those sub- zero temps just to cool me down! If you haven’t tried Lori Foster’s Road to Love series, you’re missing out. Each story is filled with passion, suspense, and raw chemistry. And in Slow Ride, the chemistry between Ronnie and Jack is absolutely explosive.
Ronnie Ashford needed a professional courier to help acquire her employer’s purchases to add to their macabre collection. She felt perfectly capable working on her own. In fact, she preferred it. But since these trips often resulted in Ronnie being sent to remote locations alone, her eccentric bosses wanted her to have someone, a man, accompany her. And that someone was Jack Crews of Mustang Transport. Ronnie didn’t want a man taking over. She could take care of herself and she’d proven it plenty of times in her not so rosy past. She wanted nothing to do with some super slick, suit wearing cowboy. Then she met Jack Crews. She didn’t count on the combustible attraction she’d feel.
Jack was intrigued by the petite fireball. She seemed determined to sway him against the job. Despite her disgruntled looks and frank, almost brutal honesty, he liked her. He even enjoyed her barbs and insults. It was obvious she was strong but vulnerable. That her belligerence was an attempt to cover her insecurity. He was more than attracted to her. He wanted the job and he wanted her too. Getting her to accept him wouldn’t be easy but he’d figure it out because he knew she’d be worth the effort.
Ronnie intimidated most men but Jack Crews didn’t scare easily. His calm, unshakeable demeanor threw her. She usually used unreasonableness to keep people from getting close, but when Jack was reasonable, she wanted to be. She wasn’t used to people who went out of their way to counter her belligerence. He made her feel determined to get away even while drawing her in. Not only was he gorgeous, she liked him and she enjoyed sparring with him. Working with him would only be torturing herself with what she couldn’t have. But it looked like that’s just what she’d have to do.
What followed was a slow ride of getting to know each other. Time alone in a car, traveling to make pickups left plenty of time for that. Jack kept Ronnie from retreating by chatting about everything, sharing things about himself. He had such an easy way about him that Ronnie found herself replying and opening up. Something she never did. She expected him to give up on her like everyone else in her life had, but Jack praised her, understood, and accepted her. He made her feel normal. Little by little she let him get closer. And when he kissed her, her thoughts scattered, her resistance melted and left her confused. The more they got to know each other, the attraction they both felt became more than physical. She was used to plodding forward in life alone but Jack gave her a taste of something she hadn’t even known she wanted or dared to hope for.
But just as Ronnie was coming to consider a future with Jack, a stalker from her past returns. Will Jack be able to protect her and will Ronnie trust him enough not to go it alone?
I was as captivated with this story as Ronnie and Jack were with each other. Jack and Ronnie were the very definition of opposites. Jack was so open, friendly, and calm while Ronnie was cynical, taciturn, and pretty off putting. But Jack saw more than what she presented to the world. He knew that all that belligerence and snarkiness was wrapped up in her past and the hurt she’d been dealt. He was persistent because he liked what he saw in her and knew there was much more to Ronnie Ashford than even she knew. She had such an intriguing, heart breaking backstory and had hidden and long buried hopes and dreams for the future she’d wanted. I loved how patient Jack was, letting Ronnie set the tone and pace, winning her over in infinitesimal stages. Showing her what love and family really meant. Helping her to see that the hurt, pain, and fear were all part of her history but Jack was her destiny. Watching them navigate their budding relationship was sweet, funny, and sexy. The chemistry between the two sizzled, but the emotional connection that developed between the two was the most captivating for me. That and the suspense and danger of the stalker kept me turning the pages.
I love Lori Foster’s blend of danger, humor, and passion. Her characters are smart and sexy, and her stories are fast paced, grabbing your attention from the beginning. I knew I would love Jack’s story as soon as I met him in his brother Brodie’s book. I’m hoping Charlotte and Rosalyn have a book in the works. I’d love to see a romance for the mom who managed to raise these two magnificent men. If you’re a Lori Foster fan, you’ll be thrilled with this newest. And if you’ve never read a Lori Foster book, prepare to be dazzled.

Ronnie does not want to like stuffy Jack Cruz, why does he look so tempting. She's here in Mustang transport in hopes of convincing Jack to not take the job. She doesn't need a driver, especially one as smooth as Jack. Jack finds Ronnie utterly sexy and has every intention of taking this job if nothing else but to get to know her better. As their lives are in peril, they grow closer. Can Jack convince Ronnie that she deserves a happy ever after? Can Ronnie open her heart to a family and realize she deserves their respect?

I love this second book in the Road to Love series. Everything that Lori Foster writes is as good as the last book if not better. I always look forward to her next book and she never disappoints. Just like with Slow Ride, they are always well written with characters that you fall in love with

I ordered and read Driven to Distraction (Book 1) first even though Slow Ride (Book 2) is a standalone book. I am so glad I did and would recommend the other book simply because it is a good story. I love both books and the brother in Driven is a heart throb hunk all to his own merit. I felt Driven couldn’t be ‘outdone’ even though there were a few nitpick things like the heroine didn’t seem to suit her name, etc. However, Slow Ride just nailed it on all cylinders. Ms. Foster easily accelerated Jack to higher level. I could envision Ronnie exactly as described. There was vulnerability when required, snarkiness when needed, and grit when necessary. I think banter always adds the extra spice and humor to the building of a relationship story and you can check that off the list because it is in there. I appreciate that the stories are believable enough to occur. While the scenes are edgy and add the suspense and page turning thrills that keep a reader interested, they don’t distract from the relationship of the hero and heroine. The supporting characters add just enough level of interest to give the story a bonus so to speak. I read the story in a single sitting. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy.

I received an ARC from NetGalley, and this is my honest review, this is the second my first book in this series and it could be a standalone. Now I will have to get the first book and read that also. I enjoyed reading about Jack’s and Ronnie. Their meeting at first was an attraction at first sight. I loved the twists and turns that the book took. Ronnie was filled with a lot of spunk and Jack was quite and polite. Ronnie and Jack’s families are so opposite but the Crews family changes it all for Ronnie. The mystery/danger part of the story keeps you guessing. Awesome story. I would recommend it to all my friends.

Another great story by Lori Foster. Slow Ride is book two in the Road to Love Series, although you don't need to read book one to enjoy book two. This series is about two brothers who own a courier service but they are hired to accompany an employee of the collector, who turns out to be a woman and therefore the heroine of our stories. And they're to deliver and pick up some unusual things. Not the regular courier services you're used to thinking of. Book one had Brodie picking up some weird stuff but in Slow Ride, the stuff Jack has to pick up goes beyond weird in my opinion. But it sure makes for an interesting read. And the chemistry between Jack and Ronnie was hot! But Jack was also so sweet to her too. It was nice to see Ronnie's walls come down and let Jack love her. Another very satisfying action packed love story from Ms. Foster. And the blurb for the next book in the series has me very excited! Can't wait to read more.

*I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book*
