I'm disappointed with this second book. While I love that Ada and her friends ask questions, problem solve, and learn about liquids and gases, the plot leaves something to be desired. First of all, it's Rosie's invention that is the problem, not Ada's. Whose book is this anyway? And second of all, the invention is not even remotely reasonable -- he is wearing helium gas pants and is floating over town without a tether. There is only so much disbelief I can suspend in a STEM-themed book. This ridiculous invention makes no sense. Only recommended for how it models inquisitive thinking.

WE LOVE THIS SERIES! Ada, Rosie and the gang are brilliant role models, inspiring our customers, with their wit, and ingenuity. What could be better than girls and STEM crashing together. David Roberts art is perfect.

We love the picture books and are excited to have chapter books to read as my daughter grows with these book series. The story emphasizes problem solving and perseverance. Love that my daughter can look up to these book characters and experience positive stories featuring girls who show it is cool to be smart!

This was my first intro to Ada Twist & her science friends. It reminded of The Magic School Bus, which I loved as a kid.

A great book for elementary/grade school kids just like my 7 year old son, who asks a lot of scientific questions like: why does helium make a balloon float? Why do we only float in space, etc.

Summary: Ada is full of questions. She is full of ideas. Sometimes there is so much going on in her brain, it’s hard to get it all out!
But after experimenting with heat and smell, her science skills are put to the test when her friend Rosie’s Uncle Ned starts to float away in his helium pants!
Can she use what she’s learned to save the day?
My Thoughts: This book is very fun. It has an interesting story line, is full of testing theories and hypotheses, working as a team, and using science to save the day.
I particularly like the underlying message of not giving up, and continuing to try until a solution is found.
This book would definitely make a wonderful present for any girl (or boy) who loves science.

Ada Twist and her science mind are at it again! While Ada's curiosity grows about hot and liquid gases and their smells, she finds Rosie's Uncle Ned caught high up in a tree. He is wearing his helium pants and got a little carried away. Ada puts her science skills to the test as readers also get a bit of information about how gases and gravity work. Through the scientific method, Ada goes through the process like a real scientist! Hypotheses, trials, taking data, and making smart conclusions, any science loving kid will love this book! As a fan of Ada, Rosie, and Iggy's picture books, this would be a great addition to an early chapter book library! Very well written and informative!

This book is in chapter format, I cannot wait to see the final art! This is a must add to any elementary school classroom!

It is a book to encourage all children, but especially African American Children in the field of Science and Scientific Inquiry with results!

It's hard to give a book like this a proper review in this format, because the illustrations are missing, and — having read some of the other books in this "series" that we have in my children's department — those artwork pages are pretty essential to the story. That said, I thought what I could experience of this book was fun, and I know my patrons will enjoy it just like they've loved the other books like this we've acquired, so it will be going on my order list this spring for sure!

We are big fans of the picture books of Rosie and Ada (don't have the Iggy book yet). I love that Andrea Beaty expanded these characters to beginning chapter books. Perfectly adapted for children capable of independent reading but retaining that sense of curiosity and wonder. These would also be fantastic reads for bedtime as the chapters are short with helpful illustrations. As usual, love the STEM connections (and science explanations) embedded into the plot.

I am so excited to see more of The Questioneers adventures and now in chapter book format! Ada Twist is a great protagonist and I look forward to solving many more mysteries along with her.

I love that y'all are aging up the Questioneers books! I work in a middle school that also has one elementary grade; unfortunately, our collection doesn't have much for them, but this would be a welcome addition. The story is silly and fun, and it made me laugh out loud on several occasions. The science is super engaging. Plus, it's great to see a loving Black family portrayed in kidlit. "Ada Twist and the Perilous Pants" is a no-brainer.

The beginning of the book made me laugh when she told her dad his coffee was broken (just one of the many scientific questions she comes up with throughout the book). I kept thinking how great this book would be for a Year 5 class studying Forces and learning to plan Fair Tests/use their senses.
The scientific facts are a great addition as I know my students and kids love knowing little random tidbits.
I must say, this book won’t disappoint. A wonderful addition to the series!

I love a book that encourages girls to see STEM interests as something for them. The main character is Ada, a girl who loves Science & investigating.

It’s also great because it explains scientific things such as gravity in child friendly terms!

I’d strongly recommend this book for any girl with an interest in science & think any child aged between 6-10 years would enjoy this adventure tale!

Our family LOVES the Ada Twist (and Rosie Revere) picture books, so we were ecstatic to see Ada and friends carried over into a chapter book series now! My daughters are younger than the intended audience, so I read it out loud to them over the course of several days, and we loved it just as much as the picture books. I’m so excited to follow these important characters along on their new journeys!

Young readers can grow from picture books to chapter books with already beloved characters. I really like how much we see science in action with the Questioneers. I would highly recommend for any library to add to their collection!

Ada Twist is a smart hero for all - and a refreshing one when skimming the library shelves for one that looks like the students I serve. Her humor and natural curiosity about the things around her will get kids excited - much like Harriet the Spy did for me. I am excited to share this book with others, as well as pick up more from this series!

I have read a few of Andrea Beaty's other books, including Iggy Peck, Architect, and Rosie Revere, Engineer. This was a great addition that can be used for upper elementary grades. This book can be read aloud to students or given to students to read independently. All of her books can be read to any students to encourage them to look at a problem or question and feel like they are able to find a solution or answer.
I would definitely recommend this book to my students and their families as well as adopt it into my classroom. For any fellow teachers, this would be a great book to add to your classroom library!

Having read and enjoyed Ada Twist, Rosie Revere and Ivy Peck picture books, I knew what to expect.
Saying that I was pleasantly surprised by how brilliant a chapter book featuring them all would be. I love the friendship and encouragement they give one another whilst trying to solve the science mystery surrounding Uncle Ned and his Perilous Pants.
There are funny, laugh out loud moments balanced with pure scientific facts to be learned. It is an excellent book for all children and I would happily read more about this group of friends.

Andrea Beaty does it again with book two of the Questioneers series. With Ada as less in this story, the team of friends have science to thank for their mystery solving. When uncle Ned's helium pants take him on a dangerous adventure, Ads had to use science to figure out how to keep him safe. The book was fun, fact-filed and easy to read.
