I couldn't get through Abbi Waxman's other book, Other People's House, I just could not finish it. But I really enjoyed this book.

Probably because I identify much more with an awkward bookworm than a bunch of families all holding secrets about each other... This was a fun read and I highly recommend it!

This was a great read. Waxman runs me through all the emotions. Her quirky characters are always fun and Nina is no exception. Nina's story is true book nerd...I know because that is exactly me... Thank you Abby Waxman for yet another fun 2 days with your new cast of characters

As an avid reader, I adored this book. It was wonderful to see the interplay between all the characters and how their personalities and quick conversations furthered the story. I particularly enjoyed the exploration and explanation of an introverted life without the typical "you need to get out more" comments. Nina was very assured of who she is and it brought another pleasing element to the story. It was a great title and I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel!

Took me a bit to get into it, but I’m glad I stuck with it. Nina is a likeable enough character but I got a little frustrated with her lack of communication with others, but hey, she’s someone we all know and love. I kept picturing Tom as the actor Chris O’Doud for some reason. This is a very cute story and those of us who breathe books will enjoy!

Nina Hill has constructed a life of work she enjoys, friends, and a carefully planned schedule of activities to keep her anxiety in check. But when a series of events collide that disrupts her life can she find a way not to let her anxiety rush in and ruin everything? Abbi Waxman again brings you a character you identify with and she is connected to characters from previous books.

I loved this book! I adore Abbi Waxman's books and this one is my favorite so far. I loved seeing characters from past books and I hope that Waxman keeps going in that direction and brings some of these characters to light in another story.
Nina is so much like so many people I know. I am a librarian and I do like people but I like to spend time with books too. I loved the feeling like i was there with these characters and just wanted to go live in their world too. I wanted to give this book a big hug!. I liked that Nina inherited so many siblings and nieces and nephews, she needed more people to be close with in her life. I am glad that she was able to realize that life isn't always about doing what's planned. I loved the changes in her daily planner, especially how it changed with her different moods. She felt so real and if she was I would want her to be my best friend! Please write more with these characters Abbi Waxman I would read them all!

I started this book with hope. It sounded cute and it was up until chapter three on where it talked of sex and getting laid...and kind of nothing else. I was really disappointed.

The Bookish Life of Nina Hill is the most enchanting novel I've read. Ever. Period. I will preface by sharing that I am a huge fan of Abbi Waxman, and have been since I discovered her work through Book of the Month. There's just something about this author, and how relatable she makes her characters.

Nina Hill is every bookish girl alive. She embodies what it means to be a book lover, the thoughts that we introverts have while engaging with others, the exaggerated way in which we interact with one another when we find a book that we are deeply passionate about.

Every chapter read like a diary entry, because of how closely aligned I was to Nina, and how "me" she felt. At some points, I thought, "do Waxman and I share a brain?"

She is brilliant, truly, and writes from such a raw, real place, with humor and introspection. I hope to be half the author that Waxman is someday - and half the reader that Nina is!

This is one of the funniest and most heartwarming books that I have read in ages. Nina could have been me 40 years ago, but unfortunately I didn't know all the trivia that she does and didn't inherit a family. These factors make her all the more endearing and the dialogue is hilarious. On a serious note, the author does describe very well the effects of anxiety which is indeed self-limiting and shows that a full life can be obtainable .

Nina Hill is perfectly happy with her life just the way it us. She has a job at a bookstore,, a trivia team, several book clubs and a cat named Phil to keep her busy. Then life starts to get complicated. She finds herself attracted to a guy on the opposing trivia team, and she learns that the father she never knew has died and left her with lots of new family members. And her presence is required at the reading of his will.. All this upheaval is told in a breezy, humorous style and makes for an easy, enjoyable read.

The Bookish Life of Nina Hill is bound to be on every introverted book lovers to-read list. It was certainly on mine. I loved the writing style and the journal entry notes at the beginning of each chapter. Most of the characters were well developed and totally believable. The only criticism I have is that Nina is so painfully introverted she literally runs away from talking to a guy she likes, but is somehow a totally uninhibited sex kitten with him. It just doesn’t seem plausible and seemed at odds with her personality the entire rest of the book.

I love Abbi Waxman's books, and the minute I saw this was available I snapped it up and read it in a day and a half.. It's fun that she has characters from her earlier books appear in cameos in her later ones. It makes me want to reread the earlier books. This was an engaging, quick read with the payoff one would wish for in a rom-com. The tone of this book differed a little from her earlier ones, I thought. It reminded me of Eleanor Lipman's writing. Which is a compliment; I enjoy both author's work in a similar way.

I really enjoyed this book, it has a great heroine and is very entertaining. Nina is an only child, is bookish, anxious, and keeps to a strict schedule. She likes her life just the way it is. Then one day she finds out that the father she never knew has died and she has a whole new family to be a part of. The book is all about Nina dealing with this new family, her job at a local book store, and a possible romance with a new guy, a lot of stuff with someone with anxiety issues to deal with.

Nina is great, I could totally relate to her being a bookish introvert myself. What I really liked about her was the fact that she is quiet and socially awkward, but she can stick up for herself when she needs to. The whole new family added a fun dynamic to the book that led to some laugh out loud moments. The romantic side of the book is cute and sweet and all in all this was a very enjoyable read.

Nina lives a solitary life and she likes it that way. She has her books, her cat and for social interaction, a trivia team. Life goes along very well, thank you very much, and then her father dies. All terribly sad of course, or it would have been if she even knew he existed. No, the horrible thing about the death of her father is discovering that she has a family, a huge, loud, interfering family who threaten Nina’s well-ordered world. all us introverts and bibliophiles will identify with Nina ( I liked her life before better) as she struggles to cope in a noisy, nosy world
