A Crafter Hooks a Killer is a good read. I find craft based stories to be very entertaining. I recommend this mystery.

A Crafter Hooks a Killer is the second in a series of three books by Holly Quinn. Once again, Crooked Lane has published a cozy that lovers of this genre will enjoy. There are a small town, crafts, good characters and a murder to be solved.

Sammy has inherited a shop from Kate who reportedly died in an accident. Was it one? And, why would author, Jane, be found dead clutching a book about Kate? Sammy wants to know and so will the reader. Enjoy as Kate, her sister and her cousin who make up S.H.E. detectives solve the case.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for this title. All opinions are my own.

This book grabbed my attention pretty fast and held it tightly. The murder mystery "A Crafter Hooks a Killer" has lots of turns and you feel sure you know the destination - until you suddenly don't anymore. I had at least three different suspects that I was "sure" did it, one of them was correct - but I couldn't imagine the killer's reason. Being a lifelong reader of mysteries, I was sure I could spot a red herring- I was wrong, to my delight.
At one point, I thought "well now we know," when in fact there was another epic twist to the story.

Following along as Sammy investigates will keep you entertained and wondering if she is on the right trail or a wild goose chase. And Detective Nash-is he a good guy or a "do it my way or else" kind of guy? I loved the layers of story in this book. Holly Quinn has written a delightful story that will keep you guessing.

one major issue i had reading the bio was that the author was killed at this meeting on a random beach at a random time with our main character, so i was like how the heck did the killer know the author would be there and how well could they get away with it if they cut it so close to when the MC would show up, especially on a big open beach, and how early did the author show up, like if i had a meeting at 2pm, i wouldn't walk out to the beach til like 1:55 so the killer would have 5mins max to kill me and even then if the other person shows up close to that time then they can't run away/far enough to not be seen. that one thought just sat in my head the whole time i was reading waiting for the reasoning/"how" they did it. kind of made me too anxious while reading.

This is the second book in the Hand Crafted Mystery series.

Sammy and the Community Craft shop are looking forward to welcoming Jane Johnson aka The Queen of Crafts to a book signing, she arrives a few days early and wishes to speak with Sammy in private, by the time Sammy has got some coffee and arrived at the meeting place she finds the Queen is dead! The only thing Sammy knows is that Jane Johnson said there was something wrong with the accident that killed Sammy's best friend, now Sammy and the S.H.E team (Sammy, her cousin Heidi and Sammy's sister Ellie) start digging into the old case and the new.

On top of everything Ellie and Sammy's parents arrive, Sammys old crush is back in town, Heidi is distracted by her relationship with Officer Tim, and Ellie is trying to juggle motherhood and sleuthing. Plus Detective Nash semi letting Sammy into the investigation and you have a very complex situation without the murder!

I enjoyed this book better than the first! I do recommend reading the books in order.

I am loving this series! Getting to know the characters is fun and the first 2 books in the series are great.

I struggled a bit with this book as the main female character just doesn't care what anyone else says and sticks her nose into things that she has been 100% told not to do and almost bungles everything but then she bats her eyes and everyone just falls for it. The last 1/4 of the book I enjoyed very much but the rest I struggled to get through.

I received a free digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I'm a crafter in my spare time so have been excited about this series of books written with crafting ties. and this is the second book in the series that I have been able to read in advance.

These books are billed as 'cosy mysteries' which is more of a trend in America, They tend to be books with an element of mild danger / less gory than traditional crime / thrillers.

We return to the same small town in America and back to 'Sammy' who runs the local Craft community hub which used to belong to her deceased best friend Kate (who was the mayor's daughter).

The story focuses on a forthcoming book launch / signing by a bestselling craft author Jane Johnson, who has decided to visit the town and Sammy is the organising of the whole event. A few days before the event in preparation the author comes to visit Sammy and says she needs to talk to her urgently as she has some news about the previous owner of the community hub (Sammy's dead best friend). They agree to meet somewhere quiet but when Sammy arrives she finds Jane dead and drawn into solving yet another small town murder! As before she ropes in her sister and cousin (S.H.E) to help the local detective (also Sammy's love interest) to solve the crime. I can't say too much else without giving away spoilers!

As before I was only able to give this three stars due to the over-descriptive narrative that ruins the flow of the story for me. This is the second story so perhaps the writer is still finding their voice / style, or perhaps this is the preference of cosy mysteries? For me I need less over-description. Telling me Sammy is putting an extra pillow behind her head to watch the TV is completely unecessary, the fact she's watching TV, I'm assuming she can see the screen!

This was a great book. It helped that I had read a book in this series before I read this one. It was also a great read.

I enjoyed the story and it is well written and funny at certain times through the book. It is well worth the time to read and I am sure that everyone will enjoy it as much as I did.

The author knows how to capture the reader in the first chapter nd keep them until the end. Great storyteller!

This was a dry, drawn out mystery. I liked some parts of it but I honestly lost interest part of the way through. It made me sad since I love reading cozies. I hope to pick up a finished copy at some point and give it another try to see if it was just the timing of when I tried to read it.

I was all set to love this book. A cozy mystery centered around a craft shop in a small town. However I just could not get into it. The plot was compelling enough. A famous author of craft books drops a tantalizer hint about a past death in town, then winds up murdered before sharing the details. However, the story is confusing and hard to follow. The plot meanders and there are just too many words. Every adjective and metaphor is jammed into this story. Rather than setting the scene it becomes a distraction. It’s a bummer, since the premise was so promising.

This was a good cozy mystery...one of my favorite genres at this point in time. And there is so much to love about this series...lots of wonderful characters, a small town, friends who support each other, a mystery, and a strong heroine. The one thing that turned me off a little bit was the fact that the main character, Samantha (Sammy) was a little too impulsive and stuck her nose in where it did not belong and could have led to the police, and her potential boyfriend, from being able to solve the crime. She was just too intense and wouldn't listen to reason.

This book had a bonus in that there was a double mystery. There were two murders, but you weren't sure if there was a connection between the two of them...especially since they occurred years apart. But if you love a mystery, you will love delving into this story.

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

A Crafter Hooks a Killer by Holly Quinn is the second book in the Handcrafted Mystery series. I had not read the first book in this series, but I had no trouble following this one. Sammy runs Community Craft, a store dedicated to selling items handcrafted by those in her community. She took over the store after her best friend was killed. Sammy is thrilled to be hosting a celebrity crafter for a book signing. Jane stops by to meet Sammy and says she needs to talk to her about Kate. Before Jane can reveal what she knows, she is murdered. Sammy is faced with two mysteries finding out who killed Jane and what really happened to Kate. I love the idea of this book based on a community craft store. I guessed the solution to the mystery early on, but that was not my issue with the book. Sammy went a bit too far in "helping" the police. I have no problem with some cozy heroine meddling, but Sammy seemed intent on getting what she wanted no matter the cost. That dropped the book from four stars to three for me.

I enjoyed this book better than the first. I liked learning more about Sammy's best friend who was killed a few years back. Again, I loved Sammy's dog! Makes me missed my Goldens from my childhood.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book, which I voluntarily chose to review.

This is the second book in the Handcrafted Mystery book series. I really liked this book. It has all the elements of a great cozy mystery. The mystery was well done, you don’t just get one mystery, you get two. I loved the S.H.E gang and all the other characters. I highly recommend this book to all cozy mystery lovers!

A big Thank you goes out to Netgalley and Crooked Lane Books for providing me with an advanced digital read. The opinions here are my own.

A Crafter Hooks a Killer takes us back to Heartsford, Wisconsin for another adventure with Sammy and friends. I really enjoyed the first book in this series and have been looking forward to another installment. I wasn’t disappointed. The characters are just as much fun as I remembered and the story itself is even better.

As if one mystery to figure out wasn’t enough, A Crafter Hooks a Killer presents us with two well-intertwined murders. Finding out if or how they are related was a lot of fun and kept me guessing. This one was a quick read for me – once I got started it was very hard to put down!

A Crafter Hooks a Killer is the 2nd book in the Handcrafted Mystery series but can be read as a standalone if you haven’t read book one, A Crafter Knits a Clue.

A Crafter Hooks a Killer is the second book in Handcrafted Mysteries Series and the first book that I have read by this author. I enjoyed this story and had no problems following the story. I found this to be a fun cozy with great characters. I will be looking for the previous book in this series.

The second in this cozy series, I really enjoy the Handcrafted Mysteries. Samantha Kane is looking forward to hosting a celebrity crafting event when the guest of honor, Jane Johnson, ends up dead. Sammy knows there's a connection between Jane and her friend Kate, who recently passed away. Sammy gets up to dittos trying to solve the mystery, even if it means annoying the hot new detective. I could alsorelate to Sammy's irritation with her mother who compares her shortcomings to her sister who seems so perfect.
The story was enjoyable, the book art beautiful and a likeable cast of characters. Thank you to NetGalley and Crooked Lane for allowing me to preview the story and offer my own thoughts in review.
