I am a crafter and an avid reader so this book was a nice change of pace for me. The characters are believable and likable (some of them anyway, lol). The story is well written and you get mystery with a little romance thrown in. I was a big fan of "Nancy Drew" growing up and this reminded me of those except the characters are older. I disagree with someone who said it was silly for women this age to be investigating. There is a little investigator in most of us I think and I for one loved relating to the characters in the book. This is only one of a handful of cozy mysteries that I have read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The attention to detail was wonderful and I felt like I could see the shops, the people, even the streets.

This is the first time that I have read this author and I thought this was a very good story. I thought that Samantha was a very strong character and really took her getting involved really seriously. I guess Kate die and then the author Jane being murdered before the book signing and then having found the barrette in Jane's suitcase got her started. The group that she and her cousins had was helpful too. This was a page turner because for me I didn't figure it out until the very end. I highly recommend this books if you like cozy mysteries.

I'll leave the summary to others who write better ones than I do. I will say this was a very good cozy mystery with a great cast of characters who are believable and likeable. The mystery was good and the clues throughout the book were well written. A good read for anyone who likes cozy mysteries.

Upon arrival, Jane informs her that her best friend Kate accident was not an accident. They agreed to meet shortly. Upon Sammy arrival, she finds Jane murder. this is an enjoyable mystery story, Sammy is busy getting ready for the guest writer that is coming to town for a book signing , the writer comes to the story but wants to talk to her in private, so she tells her she will meet her by the water falls, but when she gets there something is wrong, Nash is a detective that wants Sammy to stay out of his crime scene, why did someone want the writer died, and who did it, and what does her died friend have to do with any of it? if you like mystery and some romance with some adult words you will like the book, I was given a coy of the book by netgalley but this is an honest review.

A Crafter Hooks Killer is the second installment in the A Handcrafted Mystery series set in Heartsford, Wisconsin and featuring craft store owner Samantha "Sammy" Kane. Having settled into running Community Craft, the shop she took over when her best friend Kate Allen was killed, Sammy is looking forward to hosting a book signing for well known craft book author Jane Johnson. With crafters from all over the county expected to attend, Sammy and her employee Deborah are hurrying to get the shop in shape.

The early and unexpected arrival of the author leaves Sammy star struck and speechless. When she realizes that the paparazzi and other nosy neighbors are descending upon the shop, she suggests that Jane slip out the back for a quiet walk along the river. As she departs the author whispers for Sammy to meet her as soon as possible because she has something important to tell her about Kate. Shocked that Jane would know anything about Kate or Kate's death, Sammy sneaks away to meet her and sadly stumbles across the murdered woman reclining on a bench.

Determined to not only uncover who murdered the famous author but what she was going to tell her about Kate's death, Sammy teams up with her cousin Heidi and sister Ellie, the SHE's (as the girls call their amateur detective agency) against the advice of Detective Liam Nash.

A fast paced plot that makes for an easy afternoon read. A likable cast of characters and great tips for crafting ideas. A resolution into what happened to Kate and a touch of romance have readers looking forward to the next addition to the series.

I received an advanced copy of A Crafter Hooks a Killer from NetGalley via Crooked Lane Books. While not required to write a review I am more than happy to offer my honest opinion.

Sammy Kane is trying her best to keep afloat her deceased childhood friend's craft store. When she discovers the body of a high profile craft author, with whom she had a meeting, she's on the hunt for a murderer. No spoilers, just teaser, but Sammy has a real vested interest in solving the crime, because her, "meeting", was regarding information the author claimed to have about the death of her beloved childhood friend. Old friends, new friends, relationships, mystery, murder, this one has it all. Really enjoyed this book. 5 stars.

Samantha Kane is running her late friend Kate's craft shop. A famous craft author Jane Johnson is due to give a book reading at the store but after she's told Samantha she knows something about Kate's death, Samantha finds her dead.

Samantha investigates and finds proof that Kate's death was not an accident. There's a possible love interest with the detective Liam Nash and an old neighbourhood friend Bradley.

I'm not sure why but I didn't really warm to Samantha and her S.H.E detective team with her sister and cousin seemed ridiculous for women in their mid 30s.
