I enjoyed this one so much. It's been a while since the last time I read such a gripping drama that is kind of cliche and cheesy, but still, man I enjoyed it. The Hero is a jackass, as usual, but it's understandable. So yeah, overall a solid read before sleep.

I didn't like Mitch at all. He was so quick to attack Lorna, I don't know how she fell in love with him in the end.

Once again, I want to say what a delight it is to lose myself in the beautiful illustrations of these romance manga comics. I love how the illustrations bring the characters to life and tells me a story. And I love that sometimes these stories leave me wanting more and I looking for the original book to read. That has happened quite a few times to me.

Book Review
Title: Her Forbidden Bridegroom
Author: Sena Kurebayashi
Genre: Manga
Rating: ***
Review: The opening to Her Forbidden Bridegroom we are introduced to Lorna was has had a hard life and it isn’t made any better when Mitch Ellery re-enters her life. We learn that Lorna’s boss is marrying her half sister Kendra, but Kendra is unaware they are related. Mitch is also related to Kendra’s fiancée, however, when Lorna confronted the mother that abandoned her and had since married into the Ellery family she is branded as a con artist by the family but there is much more to this story.
I read through this manga quite quickly and while it was a nice change for the insta-love in most of these mangas to see the two main characters really dislike each other at the beginning and learn to love each other, I found that I didn’t really enjoy Her Forbidden Bridegroom and while I don’t have a definitely reason other than I didn’t enjoy it as much as other Harlequin mangas I have read I would still highly recommended all of them.

This was an okay read. Nothing about this grabbed my attention honestly. I will say Lorena went through a lot and Mitch was a major jerk. The family had some serious secrets and issues.

Welcome everyone, welcome to the new Harlequin Party! Yep, I did it again. I saw around 19 new Harlequin Manga and couldn't resist. Yes, I am kind of wondering why I did it, because it is a ton of books to review. But then I remember that I just adore reading these, and that I love the different art styles from each mangaka. So, expect TONS of Harlequin Manga over the coming few weeks. :P

This one looked adorable (though what is up with their faces/hands), and it also sounded quite fun. Dramatic, sure, because what can go wrong when your boss's fiance is your half-sister though she doesn't know it herself. But I could also see the promises of lots of romance on the horizon. And you all know I can't resist some good romance.

Wow, we start off with drama right from the bat. I am glad that the author told us how Mitch has gotten the idea though, sometimes these stories like to keep that secret for much longer, which is very aggravating. Why not just do a blood test? I mean, she is the daughter. Why immediately assume she is a con artist. And later on we see it from his POV and I just wanted to hit that dude. Also it was weird, he went on how she looked and then called her a con artist and then went back to swooning. Guy, please.

I am still so very confused. Why can't she tell Kendra? Why is Mitch such a dungbag? And now, to make her life worse, he is kind of forcing her to be his fake girlfriend. And then have her dump him so Kendra will hate her? What the hell is going on with this story. Anyone? Anyone have clue? Hello?

Wow, and now she is all in love with him. Good grief, woman, get a hold of yourself. This is the guy who wants to kick you out (and also have sex with you, but hey).

Oh dear, more drama, more sobstories. Whoooop. Sorry, it just didn't make sense that Doris would just magically spill the beans. One moment she is acting like a bitch, the next she is running after Lorna and telling her about her dramatic youth and how she couldn't have Lorna to stay with her. And yes, it was sad, but I was also kind of eh about how it all was so convenient and how it was out of the blue. Oh, and Kendra dear also has a confession. Ohhhhhhh, and it is a juicy one. OMG, I didn't think that would happen. Whoop. Oh, but it is Lorna's fault. *snorts* Sure, sure.

I would have loved to see more of Marnie, Lorna's best friend. The times we saw her she was such a fun and sweet character.

*rolls eyes*Oh no, of course that is the reason why he was such a bully. Sure, sure. But OK, credit were credit is due, it was a sweet confession and my inner fangirl was definitely squeeing.

The ending was sweet, I have to admit I am happy with how it all ended and that everyone is now happy. Yep, your typical Harlequin ending so I don't consider it a spoiler.

The art? Ehhhhh, on the one hand it was pretty, but on the other hand... perspectives didn't match, characters had the CLAMP noodle syndrome, faces looked off.

All in all, I am not sure how I felt about this one. I am giving it a 1.5 stars.

Book title :Her Forbidden Bridegroom: a Harlequin Manga

Author : Susan Fox;  Illustrator : Sena Kurebayashi

Release Date : 15 October 2016

What would you do if your mother left you when you were a kid and came back to hush you away with tons of money because she did not want her new family to know about her miserable past?

Ah meet Lorna. She was introduced to her boss' fiancee who turned out to be her long lost half sister, Kendra. She was unable to tell the truth to Kendra but she tried to enjoy her little time with her just because she loves her dearly. This peaceful moment turned out to be a chaotic situation when Kendra's stepbrother appeared and thought that Lorna was trying to scam Kendra for the family's fortune. He later invited Lorna to visit the family's dinner which turned out to be a huge surprise and a happy ending for Lorna.

The rest of the story will never be spilled here. It is no fun and is a surprise that one should read and find out. What I can say is that the plot of the story is evoking and the end of the story is emotionally touching especially when Lorna finally reunited with her biological mother. She willingly acknowledged Lorna as her long-lost daughter infront of other people. The conflict is portrayed and illustrated beautifully as the artist is able to captured it and put it into the manga-style. It is just a perfect reading to sweeten one’s life.

A contemporary western romance. Mitch, Kendra’s stepbrother and heir to the staggeringly wealthy Ellery family will do anything to keep Lorna away from her new found halfsister Kendra, who is in her turn Mitch's stepsister. The product of an illicit affair, Lorna only wishes to have a family but would be more than happy to stay away from the maddening cowboy who pesters her… In his attempt to keep Lorna away Mitch has to keep her by her side himself, only to discover she is has as lovely a soul as her eyes and looks…

An enjoyable read for lovers of contemporary western romances.

This is the first manga romance that I haven't liked although I did like the artwork.

I just didn't like the main character in this story at all! He was arrogant, overbearing and oppressive. A total ar** ho**. Mitch thinks he can throw his weight around and stamp all over Lorna who is the female lead character.

Lorna is a vulnerable and somewhat lost young woman. She lost her adoptive parents some years ago and although she found her birth mother, the woman refused to acknowledge her. Some months later her half sister Kendra comes into her life because Kendra is dating Lorna's boss.

Hot on Kendra's heels comes Mitch her protective half brother and Lorna's nemesis. He warns Lorna to stay away from Kendra and threatens her with legal action and he demands that Lorna pretend to be his girlfriend. Instead of Lorna to tell him to eff off she agrees (sigh - bang head on table moment).

Lorna asks herself why she is agreeing to the pretend dating gig with arrogant Mitch. I had to ask myself too. It totally put me off the story. Why would anyone want to be with such a horrible man who bullies others, judges them without evidence and manipulates people with money?

Yuck.

I do like a good romance and I know human beings are flawed and make mistakes but this man was awful and as the main character it marred the story for me.
