I'm sorry to say that I only got around to this book now, and its really a big regret. The book was so well written, that I raced through it, to see if the culprit would be found, and the girls found alive. Absolutely nothing is as it seems in this book, and I enjoyed each and every page from beginning to end. Highly recommended!

You Belong to Me was a seriously disturbing read that I couldn't put down. The novel follows Danny and his friends as they navigate a world in which Danny's older brother, Calum, constantly finds ways to make their lives miserable. Once they discover his shocking secret, things go badly. They spend the next nine years running from the past and the awful truth of who Calum really was. Flash forward to the present day, and Danny calls upon his former friends to help prevent history from repeating itself.

This book had plenty of shocking moments and twists along the way. Overall, it was an intense read.

I've had this book for years, I still haven't, unfortunately, got to it, so this is a placeholder review to reduce my shelf for my own sanity, but will replace this if I ever get to the book

This is the first book I have read by this author and I found it to be quite the page-turner. I will definitely read others by him again. This was a fast paced, thriller with several twists and turns. It was told in a dual timeline and from multiple POVs. I loved the approach, which pulled the reader right into the story.
There were a couple of small details that keep from rating it a full five stars. I had trouble believing the mother’s character and her level of dysfunction. Maybe a little more detail or consistency in her character development would have been helpful. I also felt that one of the storylines used in connecting with the “good guys” and the “bad guy” was too repetitive and therefore seemed less believable as a tactic for a character who comes across as very intelligent at one point. It doesn’t seem likely that he would be gullible in the situation he was faced with.
Even with that being said, this was a well paced, dark and entertaining thriller.

You Belong to Me by Mark Tilbury, for me I thought this was a pretty interesting mystery it dragged a little here and there but the storyline and characters were interesting and drew me in to the whole story and kept me intrigued until the end. Thank you Netgalley and the Publishers for this book and letting me leave my opinion.

Eindeutig zuviel Wiederholungen der Namen, um das Geschehen zu schildern. Das geht besser. Zudem ist es anfangs sehr zäh zu lesen, gewinnt dann aber an Schwung.

A great story that will make you think about how well you really know some one. Group secrets keep you trying to figure out who's the real bad guy. This story is not your usual mystery. I've not read anything from this author before but I'm really impressed with both story line and writing style. Great read!

Can two wrongs ever make a right?

The police never found fifteen-year-old Ellie Hutton. She vanished ten years ago after walking home from school along a disused railway track. But Danny Sheppard knows exactly what happened to her. She is dead
Now Cassie Rafferty has gone missing. Same age. Similar circumstances. And Danny also knows what has happened to her.

Can Danny fight his demons and tell the truth this time?

Or will history repeat itself and leave another innocent girl dead?

Wow…what a dark distressing read. It is the first book by this author that I have read (although I have a copy of all his other books to read) and while I enjoyed it, I found it very bleak and powerful at the same time.

This is the story of four teenage school boys who are living in poverty who haven’t had an easy life, being exposed to abuse, depression and bullying. Then one day, the group decide to seek revenge against Danny’s brother for his abuse against both Danny and the group. The result will change them forever. The story alternates between the past (ten years ago) and the present. The boys haven’t seen each other since a girl (Ellie Hutton) went missing.

Now., a few years later the group is back together. Now another girl is missing and Danny knows what happened.

The twist at the end left me in total shock! I didn’t see it coming.

You Belong To Me is a dark and gripping read, and one that will appeal to a wide audience. I give credit to the author for addressing such sensitive topics of depression, abduction and bullying, and bringing them to the forefront.

Many thanks to the author, and Bloodhound Books via NetGalley for my digital copy.

I really loved the writing style of this book. I felt it was written in a way to keep you turning the pages and wanting more. I loved seeing the evil in this book. This gives you a chilling look into the demons that live in plain sight. My issue with this book is the adults. As a parent I can't imagine the adults being so oblivious to everything going on. I loved the ending that kept me guessing though. Overall I really liked it!

I really liked the subject matter in this book, yet struggled understanding why the young boys handled the past like they did and did not find help. I really liked the ending, yet it made me wonder if things were not different then once thought. Thanks for the ARC, NetGalley.

I really liked this book, but I am one that absolutely loves disturbing material. If you cannot handle disturbing, this book is not for you, but if you love crime thrillers with psychological suspense and disturbing themes, read it now!
I’ll use in a challenge & recommend to the members of Chapter Chatter Pub!

Those last three paragraphs! Wow… didn’t see that coming. That’s literally all you need to know.

When you feel like giving up because the chapters seem to be rehashing the same material over and over… keep on plowing through it. Don’t give up; it will be worth it! And when you are finished, let that last sentence sink in. Then give that title a little think.

Those of you who know me or who have read some of my other reviews know that I love me some justified revenge. Sometimes it’s fairly quick (Four Brothers) and sometimes it takes years (Remember… one of the best movies ever). Sometimes, two wrongs can make a right!

When I was close to the end, I almost thought that that there might be a part two. I hate those books that are written thinking that there will be two or three in the series (same story) and leave you hanging at the end of book one. Rest assured, you will be content when you read that final word.

Brilliant plot, excellent main characters that you invest in. I read this book in one sitting and I would highly recommend it.

This was so very dark. The characters are deeply disturbing. But what a ride!

After a horrifying incident that takes place in their teens, 4 friends start to self destruct. Nine years later they are still barely living and coping (unsuccessfully) through various vices.

The story starts in the present with the abduction of a young girl and then pans back to the events that set things in motion. The writing, dialogue and characters are superb. Surprisingly there are some lighter moments as Josh throws around sarcasm with the best of them.

That twist was excellent. Some people claim they saw it coming from a mile away. Not me, not at all. It does wrap up perhaps a bit to neatly for such a dark tale but I’m still quite satisfied! Will look for the next one from this author!

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and Bloodhound Books for a copy in exchange for a review.

This book is so suspenseful, gritty, and dark....really dark.

Nine years ago, Ellie Hutton disappeared and was never seen again, by anyone except Danny and his friends. Now Cassie Rafferty has gone missing and Danny has reassembled this group in an effort to find her before she meets Ellie's fate.

Traumatized by the events of nine years ago, one of the friends is an alcoholic, one has given his life to the Lord, one cuts and one tortures himself with what could have been and wants to die.

Alternating between past and present, this story unfolds in the most deliciously uncomfortable way and charges toward a searing, surprise ending.

Thank you to Mark Tilbury, Bloodhound Books, and NetGalley for giving me this digital ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Wow, what a ride.

The description of this book had me intrigued, but not entirely excited to read it. I thought I would give it a try, hoping I would enjoy it, and I'm so glad I did.

If you like crime shows like CSI or Criminal Minds, you may like this book. The only difference is, it isn't the cops or the FBI that are doing the investigating.

Danny, Kieran, Rob, and Josh all want to forget the heinous situation they found themselves in nine years ago. A teenage girl named Ellie Hutton went missing on her walk home from school, and was never found. Now, it's happening again, and the boys are forced to relive their part in her disappearance. Now adult men leading different lives, Danny reaches out to all three friends, smashing their past into their faces when they want to do is move on.

Typically, I enjoy books more when they are written in the first person rather than the third person, but i liked the style for this book, and think it worked well. However, since it was based in the UK, I had a hard time understanding some of the slang and lingo that was used in the dialogue. Luckily they weren't crucial details of the story, so I could continue on without it hindering the rest of the novel.

That twist at the end? Man, I did not see that coming! I figured it out at the last second, but it didn't ruin anything as the story was coming to its conclusion anyway.

I would recommend this book and will continue to read more by this author.

I was unable to finish this book, there was some animal cruelty and being pregnant I just can't read about that right now. Human murder, torture, kidnapping, is no big deal, but right now I can't even watch an animal in a commercial without bawling.

So before I get into my review, I want to say that this book is dark, uncomfortably dark. At around the half way point of the novel, I almost marked it as a DNF because there is a lot of animal cruelty and bullying. I just couldn’t handle it at times.

You Belong To Me first starts off in the present day and talks about Cassie who gets kidnapped. This gets Danny’s attention as it reminds him very much of a similar event from 9 years ago. He rallies his 3 childhood friends and together they need to come up with a plan to save Cassie.

Then the novel flips back to what happened 9 years ago when Ellie went missing and how Danny and his friends were impacted. I think the novel spent too much time going back in time and like I mentioned before, it was uncomfortable to read about these events.

I don’t know if I would recommend this to others, unless they like dark novels and enjoyed the description. The novel just left a bad taste for me.
