I was so excited to have the opportunity to review this title. Aside from the beautiful cover, knowing that it was being blurbed as a Mulan crossover with Project Runway, I had to see for myself. From the very first page, the story hooks you in. I love seeing stories where you must work backward to find yourself to the scene you're currently on. Maia was such an excellent character, she was strong and determined with a caring familial attitude. The sacrifices she made for her family were honorable, and I felt that she was depicted very well. The romance made my toes curl, and the descriptions were so lush that they reminded me of Roshani Chokshi's writing. It's very fast paced and a little short. I wish that it would have been a little longer to explain some points in the story that I would have loved to see elaborated on a little more. Since this is going to be a trilogy, I'm excited to follow Maia as she continues her journey. I will definitely be picking up a copy of this book for myself, because it has definitely been one of my favorite reads of January. I cannot wait to see it come out in July.

I really loved this book it was so riveting I was hooked from the very beginning. I really liked the characters especially Maia and Edan their relationship was so interesting I also liked the slow build up of the romance. I liked the fact that there was no insta romance. I loved the story it was very compelling I really liked how magic works in the world of this book. I enjoyed the Mulan like elements it made for a really interesting story that was so well written. So overall I loved this book and can't wait for more.
