Veteran Movers is turning out to be a fabulous series and one that readers should really start at the beginning to truly appreciate each of the characters and their position within the business. That said, this is book two, and Cash and Jordan’s story. Cash (a part owner) prefers to be hands on and is not at all comfortable with being cooped up in an office; unfortunately, he is also not good at dealing with people. As with many of the Vets employed by the moving company, Cash has his own demons and a short fuse is probably his most negative trait.

I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline, the character and romance development, and the support cast ensure that readers will be eager for who’s story will be up next. My only criticism it that I felt the dialogue was sometimes repetitive, and that the story could have been tied up in fewer pages. Nevertheless, this is still a good story and I’m sure readers will be hanging out for more.

“Smooth Moves” by Marie Harte wasn't as good as I thought it would be. To be completely honest, I enjoyed the overall blurb of the series and expected it to be a pleasant read but there was just something about the writing style that was a complete turnoff. Perhaps it wasn't descriptive enough or didn't showcase who the characters really were, so it became more than difficult to build some sort of connection with this story. Sadly this wasn't a keeper and I have decided to end the journey early by dropping the series.

This was such a fun book for me. I know that Cash is a hero that not everyone is going to love because he can come off as obnoxious, but I never felt that way about him when we got to know him in book 1.

To me Cash is this big teddy bear that likes to poke other bears to get them riled up. I actually had fun with his character... maybe because I'm kind of like him. I enjoy that friendly fire and camaraderie you can have with someone who truly knows your not being mean, just playful.

Cash was also a very protective guy. He always jumped into helping someone in a bad situation even if it was dangerous. The poor guy got beat on the regular. I also can not deny how hot he was whenever we got to see him lusting after Jordan. He could get growly and very jealous. I loved it.

Jordan is another character that some may think is too aggressive at times. What I saw was a woman who wanted to be strong and independent an yet still be seen as a woman. I liked that she could kick some serious butt and take names.

Jordan and Cash were perfectly compatible and I got such a kick out of their story. I do think most readers could read this as a standalone even though we meet these two in book 1. Of course you may be more invested in them if you got to see them from the beginning.

I'm really looking forward to more in this series. There are so many good side characters that really add to the enjoyment of this series. I can't decide if I want Evan or Smith's story next. Either way, I'll be happy!

This was a fun romance between two people who rather unexpectedly have a lot of common. They are both former military who had to leave their chosen fields early because of the actions of slimy superior officers. Now they’re working together for a moving company of vets. They work together with humor and friendship. But soon Jordan, a former military police and Cash, a Marine, give into their attraction. They find out about their somewhat similar family problems when Jordan asks Cash to help her with her younger brother who has been kicked out of the house by her parents for his trouble-making at school and low grades. Cash turns out to be very good at talking to a troubled teenager. And while Cash might get into too many fights, he’s always fighting to help others.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

I thoroughly enjoyed book 1, The Whole Package, that introduced the Veteran Movers. A group of men and women, all former veterans, that after serving their country were at a loss on how to return to civilian life. Thanks to former Marine Reid Griffin, who started the company to help his brother Cash, they are now employed and thriving.
This time the story belongs to former Marine Cash Griffin and Jordan Fleming, former Army MP.
Cash always seems to be getting into trouble or looking for a fight. He suffered a great deal as a child and later was hurt by a woman . He feels not worthy of love or good enough for someone like Jordan.
Jordan , is still unsure what her future holds, and in the meantime , has taken in her troubled teenage brother .
This story was at times funny, at others heartbreaking . A reminder that the experiences as a child and how the adults that were suppose to love one failed to do so, will affect the individual when he becomes an adult.
But as heartbreaking as the story was at times, it was also heartwarming. Jordan was perfect for Cash.
The plot was engaging, and the complex characters likable.
The secondary characters were also well developed.
Though not necessary, I would highly recommend reading book 1 in the series to get the most enjoyment of the story.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley.
The opinions expressed are solely my own.

This is the second book in the Veteran Movers Series, but can be read as a standalone. I did read and thoroughly enjoyed the first book, The Whole Package, and was waiting patiently for Cash and "Little Army's" story to unfold because I had a feeling it would be intense and steamy and it was! I liked that Jordan wasn't your typical beautiful, perfect girly girl -- she's strong, brave, fierce and the perfect counterpart to Cash's strong and brash personality. And even though it can be read as a standalone, I would suggest reading this series in order to get the full impact of the secondary storyline that emerged in the first book which is just as interesting as the main plot. I'm hoping we get Evan's book next because I have a feeling it's going to be quite a ride! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book was definitely hot, and intense! I was very caught up in the storyline and how well rounded the characters were and the humor was very much my style. As someone who has many veteran friends, I can vouch for how true to life the characters' personalities were portrayed. The story was emotionally captivating and sexy too! I enjoyed this read very much and definitely recommend it!

This is the second of three books. I did not read the first book but I feel that I didn't really miss anything by not reading it. So Smooth Moves can be a stand alone.

This book follows Cash, a former marine, and Jordan, formally in the army. They work together at Vets on the Go! a moving company that Cash and his brother own. They flirt a little at first but start realizing their attraction for one another when Jordan invites Cash over for dinner to have him talk with her younger brother, who is a typical teenager making bad decisions and hanging out with the wrong crowd.

It's easy to see why Jordan and Cash fall for each other. Cash is a big, strong guy who would do anything for the people he cares about. Jordan is a tough and strong willed woman who doesn't take crap from anyone. They are both stubborn and can be difficult at times, but they keep coming back to each other.

Smooth Moves is an easy, fun read that is well written and I enjoyed the story. I don't think this book brought anything new to the table but I think a lot of readers will like it.

In the words of Randy Jackson 'It was just alright for me dawg.' This was a new-to-me author, which means I didn't read the first book in the series, but I honestly don't think I missed too much and it helped in me forming a first impression not based on Cash's persona in the first book (which apparently was pretty bad). The author did a good job in mentioning parts of the first book so that I had a general idea of what happened there, so I don't feel as though I missed much.

I will say that I struggled through the first 60% of this book and nearly DNF'd it many times. I was utterly bored and the book seemed twice as long as it needed to be in the first half. The last 40% of the book was pretty good and made me raise this from a 2-star to 3-star read, simply because of the conflict in the end there that held my attention.

Cash was a decent character, but geez, his dirty talk was cringeworthy. That first sex scene had me rolling my eyes at the corniness of it. I mean the guy kept calling Jordan "Sugar Boots" and other Sugar-This/That names, all in one scene. It was honestly too much and felt as though a teen had written that scene, not just because of the pet names but just how it was written in general as though it was a bad porn. Then he stops saying those stupid names, but the author brought back the Sugar Boots name in one of the final scenes. I honestly just skimmed through a lot of the intimate scenes after that first bad one, which is really disappointing since that's supposed to be the good part.

I liked Cash's relationship with his brother and cousin. He had a pretty bad life growing up with parents who ignored him and yet he still was there for his brother and didn't hold it against him. Quite frankly, it's nice and refreshing to see a big giant of a guy hug and tell his brother he loves him. Cash was a bit of a loose cannon though, with a fight first, think later mentality, but he at least was only doing that when he was trying to save someone else/play the hero.

Jordan was a strong heroine. She could hold her own against the guys (and a bad landlord), that's for sure. At times she came off as just too much though, as if she was really trying hard to be one of the guys, but I guess she had to in order to earn their respect and not be viewed as weaker. When alone with Cash she did soften some, which made her seem more human and approachable. I loved her relationship with her brother. She was a great big sister who only wanted the best for him and was willing to help him fight battles when others were wronging him.

Apparently there was some big family secret noted in the first book that was expanded on in this one. It's still pretty new to the characters in this book and the revelation leaves room for more development in follow-up books. I hate it when conflict isn't resolved, but I guess I can't be too picky since this was apparently something left over from the last book as well.

This book had a HFN ending, which is honestly not my favorite type of ending since I like a resolution and at least one in which the H/h do more than just decide to live together. There was a declaration of love, so there is that, but there were no real future plans. I assume all of that will come in the next book, but given that this book had Reid/Naomi not even living together yet or with any solid future plans and they've already had their story told in Book 1, I don't have high hopes for how Cash & Jordan's story will progress in the next book.

Unfortunately, I probably won't continue with this series, but this may just be a 'it's me not you' thing.

Good story infused with heat and drama about two people who pretty much go from enemies to friends to lovers. Cash and Jordan are very likable and complex characters who are totally meant for each other even if they can’t see that at first. I think reading the first book would have been good, but it wasn’t absolutely necessary. I really enjoyed this book.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.

SMOOTH MOVES – Marie Harte
Veteran Movers, Book 2
Sourcebooks Casablanca
ISBN: 978-1492670476

Contemporary Romance

Seattle, Washington – Present Day

Former military vets Cash Griffin and Jordan Fleming recently started working together at the moving company Cash owns with his brother, Reid. Jordan is sassy and tough, which is something Cash can relate to, but there is also something about Jordan that seems to rub him the wrong way. It doesn’t help that they usually get put together on moving jobs. Yet, as much as they clash, there is a sizzling awareness between them that can’t be ignored. But both have too much on their plates to get involved with anyone right now.

Cash and Reid’s mother recently died, leaving her house to Cash, who feels guilty he is getting something his brother should have at least half of. But Reid doesn’t care. Can Cash get over the guilt? As he goes through her things, he learns their mother had secrets. Will it affect his future—and change his past?

Jordan’s teenage brother, Rafi, recently moved in with her because he wasn’t getting along with his parents (Jordan’s mother and stepfather) and was proving to be obstinate. What she doesn’t realize is that there is a lot more going on with Rafi—things that Cash soon learns about. Can Cash help Rafi end up in the right place? What about the mutual attraction that’s brewing between Cash and Jordan?

SMOOTH MOVES is an interesting read with a multitude of characters that expands beyond the moving company. At times, it was a little hard to keep track of who was who, but halfway through the book I finally got it figured out. Jordan isn’t looking for any relationship with a man beyond those she works with, yet she’s very aware of Cash. But she mistakes their antagonistic working relationship as two people who are different from each other. In fact, Cash and Jordan are a lot alike. Both are proud, independent, hard workers, and currently dealing with family issues. Early in SMOOTH MOVES, they give into their sexual fantasies with each other and it is then that they start to see the other as something more than co-workers. But both continue to hold back their secrets, which proves to be a barrier to furthering things between them. Can they overcome them? Will it involve starting to trust one another enough to confide in each other?

Love finds Cash and Jordan just when they think they don’t have anything to offer another person. Their tale in SMOOTH MOVES is emotional and sexy, and one I highly recommend.

I really enjoyed this sweet, steamy romance between two veterans trying to figure out life after the military. Their struggles, and their chemistry, kept me turning pages long past my bedtime.

Cash and his brother Reid own Vets on the Go!, a moving company that hires veterans. Jordan is their latest hire, and the sparks fly between her and Cash almost immediately. But, since Cash is technically her boss, he tries to put his feelings on hold. Clearly, since this is a happily ever after romance, he fails.

Both Jordan and Cash struggle with their return to civilian life after similar military experiences. Their inner conflicts give both of them more depth than average characters, and leads to a well rounded story. Jordan is a kick ass heroine who fights her own battles. Her strength, and Cash’s pride in her ability to take care of herself, was fantastic. I definitely recommend this stand alone story, along with the first book in the series (The Whole Package, Reid and Naomi’s story). Great characters and sexy heroes—how can you go wrong?

This was the second book in this series. This book starts off where the first one left off. Although this one can be read as a standalone I think reading the first book helps you have a better understanding of what is going on. This book is Cash and Jordan’s book. For me Cash and Jordan were the perfect fit. Not only did they have lots of chemistry they just fit together perfectly. This book was hot, steamy, drama filled but most of all it was funny. I am really excited for the next book in this series. Thanks Net Galley. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks to Jordan aka "Little Army", brash former Marine Cash redeems himself after his obnoxious debut in book 1, The Whole Package. After being abused by his mother, and cheated on by a former girlfriend, it was lovely to see how much Cash treasured Jordan.
“Just…don’t ignore me and act like I don’t exist, okay?”

He’d spent a childhood with a woman who’d treated him that way, had almost married another who’d acted no better. It would kill him for Jordan to treat him like he didn’t matter, even in pretend.
Even with Cash trying to diss Jordan about being in the army, his appreciation of Jordan as a strong, capable woman rang so beautifully. Cash showed her over and over that he would always have her back. Like when Cash overheard Jordan's landlord trying to shake her down for sex:
She hadn’t realized he’d been out there. She figured he would have busted down the door the moment he’d heard her in trouble. That he hadn’t…

“Long enough,” he growled. “That fucking asshole.”

“But you let me handle it.” So not the way Cash normally did business. He bashed heads in then tried to settle things down after.

He shrugged. “You were an MP. You know your shit.”

She’d always wanted to be treated like an equal yet still like a woman.
Cash may not always know the right thing to say or do but he'll always be ready to back Jordan. That applied to his family, even with the weird family secrets floating around.

I wasn't crazy about the family secret carried over from Reed's book. Cash and his brother Reed acknowledge the secret but never address it, which was a huge let down. I know it is supposed to be a shiny lure for Book #3 but that just felt cheap.

3 stars

A big thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks/Casablanca for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is the 2nd book in a series, and while I don't think it's needed,it might be best for continuity to read them in order. Thanks is Cash and Jordan's story. They are both strong, and dealing with issues, but still fight to make their relationship work. I liked the story. I wasn't impressed by her parents, wow were they living in a bubble. I found this to be quirky and fun. I rate this 4 stars.

I am really enjoying this new series by Marie Harte. Cash and Jordan are perfect together and compliment each other so well. Cash is definitely an alpha male fiercely protective and loyal to those he loves and knows when to step in and defend Jordan and when she needs to fight her own battles. Their chemistry is off of the charts hot as well. You will find yourself laughing with them as well throughout the book. As much as I enjoyed Cash and Jordan I loved all the secondary characters as well. What an enjoyable read.

In this book we get up close and personal with Cash and Jordan. Cash is part owner in the moving company that he and his friends own, he prefers the task of physical labor opposed to being cooped up in an office or dealing with people. His preference is not dealing with people because he's got a bit of a short fuse and a whole heap of baggage. Rightfully so. The moving business employs Vets who may otherwise may not be integrated well enough back into the workplace, much like Cash. I loved that about the story. There's a great group of people and lots of fun banter and teasing that goes on. Jordan has her own story, ex military police she can definitely handle herself and the men she works with. Except maybe Cash. The chemistry between these two is off the charts and it was just so in your face, the spark between the two. A heap of angst and a lot of backstory in this book and was well written. Great dialogue and some good twists.
I would have liked this more were it a little shorter, I felt like some of the repeated dialogue with Cash could have been snipped a little. Nonetheless still a great read and Marie knows how to weave a great story.

SMOOTH MOVES by Marie Harte is a laugh out loud and hot as hell veteran romance! I loved this story and I'm definitely going to be on the lookout for more by Ms. Harte! I couldn't put this book down!

We first met beefy, brawny, with a heart of gold Cash in The Whole Package. Now we get his and Jordan’s story. Cash and Jordan are coworkers at the moving company Cash owns with his brother and cousin. However, they also have tons of chemistry, and sparks fly whenever they are together. They finally give in to lust, but love rarely sails smoothly.

It’s hard for the lovebirds to get their groove on when Jordan has her rebellious 15-year-old brother living with her. When you add Cash’s crazy, messed-up family to the mix, things really get crazy. With all of these complications, can they work it out?
