A book that can be read as a stand alone instead of reading the four books that came before it. However, you take a minute to catch up with the characters. Matt was dealing with the loss of his wife and extended family, the family blames him from the wives death believing he choose child over mother. could you imagine having to make a choice like that. It starts with a heartbreaking goodbye he wife and anger from he family. Such a great book from the start!

book 5 can read as a standalone. This book starts off with meeting the large Billodeaux family along with Matt and his wife. It quickly switches to a tragic event where Matt loses his wife and has to watch his son struggle to survive. Annie is the NICU nurse and friend that guides him through. Along the way they fall in love,. Is it too soon? Matt and Annie have to get through his grief over his wife's death, his anxiety with dealing with her family, a sick baby, her hard to like sister and many other insecurities and road blocks. There is a balanced mixture of grief and good times had throughout the story. Love the family loyalty and diversity. This family had a lot going on.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Loved the emotion throughout this book. The story of Matt and Annie really draws you in and makes you feel for them and their circumstances. I was so glad Annie stood up to Jude and didn't let him treat her like crap.

I enjoyed this book!
Matthew is a football player who was recently traded to a new city. His pregnant wife is shot and killed when they are on the wrong side of town. Thankfully, his quick thinking gets them to the hospital in time to save there 28 weeks baby from his mother's womb. This is where we meet Annie. She is the nurse (angel) who takes care of him in the NICU.
One thing leads to another and these two are together.
You need to read the book to find out how.

This is book 5 in the series, but the first book for me. I felt it was read on its own with no issues.

I find myself having conflicting feelings about this book. I loved the actual relationship between Annie and Matt, but not sure how I feel abou the timeline. I'm not sure if I would have liked it more if they had known each other for a while before his wife died or if she hadn't died under such tragic circumstances. I also got very annoyed with Annie and Jude at times (mostly Jude) when they acted like Matt not being over his wife wasn't normal; they make a reference about him still being 'hung up' on his wife - yeah, because she only died a few months ago! I did not like Dre at first, but as she let go of some of her bitterness she became a very likeable character and one I am interested in reading more about in future books (hopefully she'll get her own book on day). The supporting characters are great (I haven't read the previous books in this series, but I will now) and add more depth to Annie and the story. I liked Annie a lot, but did want to smack her toward the end - I don't want to give any spoilers, but let me just say that she makes up her mind about something without thinking about how it will impact Matt and Daniel. Some of the dialogue is a little stiff and the introduction of Kim towards the end didn't add much to the story and wasn't really necessary.

In my job I work with preschoolers, many of whom spent time in the NICU at birth, so I found this an even more interesting story - hearing about what goes on in the NICU certainly provides me with a new perspective to take into my professional life.

Loved this title! I jumped in the middle of a series, something I usually don't do. More than once, the conversation dealt with past issues, but not so much I couldn't read around them. I enjoyed the character development, the strong family loyalties, and the emotion the author was able to evoke. I look forward to reading other titles in this series!

Let me just start off by saying... this is one of those books that makes you want to go back and read ALL the prior books in the series and the series before it! This book was that good!!!

This is the fifth in the series and the first I have read from this author. Well that is about to change!!!! First thing I am going to do is go back to the start and buy Book 1 of the Sinners series!!

I really liked this emotional read. Matt and Annie are amazing characters and their story really draws you in. Annie and Matt meet when his son is born prematurely and his wife lost her life to a stray bullet. Annie hurts for both Matt and his son and takes him under her wing. Matt feels it is to soon to fall for someone else but doesn’t want to lose her either. Will Matt find love again after tragedy? Great character and a story that will hook you from beginning to end.

Loved this book. So much emotion shown through out the book. Loved Matt and Annie , who wouldn't love Annie s family. They resemble a football team even if some of them didn't play football. Glad Annie finally stood up to Jude. Dre who came in like a tornado stirring up things ,glad they finally worked everything out. This was my first book by This author but I hope won't be the last. Want to hear more about this family and the Sinner's.
