Okay, I liked the concept of the book. I really did. It was refreshing and original. However, right from the first pages, I felt like I wouldn't like the writing of the author. The first two pages made me think that the author either is not capable of self-reflection or wants to appear as if he wasn't, when he is. Well, I am of the opinion that self-reflection and self-awareness is of the outmost importance to write, specially poetry, so let's say we didn't have a good start.

Then, maybe I'm not interpreting things right, but, making blanket statements as an effort to include the reader in the collection? I thought poetry was supposed to be personal. And, also, I'm not a fan of assumptions.

I also felt like I was back to 2013 when writing fanfics in second person was the trend. I started getting bored of being addressed when it is clearly the author speaking. I don't want to be anyone's puppet.
I feel like the book could've benefitted from addressing specific groups of people every now and then rather than trying to fit every reader all the time. For instance, yes, we all struggle but there are different kinds of struggle, and they are different depending on the social-class you belong to.

Also, the repetition of words through entire pages is unnecessary, tbh.

I have to say, I have enjoyed some of the lines in the book, and I generally like the concept even if I think it could've been done better in a different way.

I think that there is great potential for this book to be loved by people, just not by me.

I received an e-book early copy from NetGalley to review.
I overall enjoyed this poetry collection. I do believe that this book would is geared toward people who find themselves in a rough patch. These poems have a rhythm and felling of lifting up and showing that self love is okay. The illustrations made this story more impactful in places while in others it felt a bit unnecessary. I did not get much out of the color changes in the font but that is more of a personal preference. It took me a while to get through because I was only able to read this copy on my laptop, which may have affected my enjoyment. I do recommend to those who enjoy modern poetry.

Sadly I couldn't´finish this copy in time. After half of the book my time run out and I couldn't finish it. I still want to give a review about the half I've read.

Ian Thomas is a well known author but for me its the first book I read. I want to change this soon because I absolutely adored it.
He gave me the emotions, the hopes and fears and disappointments that we all share by simply being human. I got goosebumps while reading and that doesn't happen very often.

The theme of this book is accepting who we are and finding yourself in a world full of strangers. Getting hurt is part of our life but that should not define us. Being brave even if you think you are not and always trying again each day should.

This book is giving you hope in the darkest of times and turning on even the tiniest light. And when I couldn't read farther I was so sad because I felt like something was stolen from me ^^.

I now have several of his books on my tbr and plan on reading them soon.
Ian S. Thomas is a poet who truly writes with his heart. I loved everything.

"Your story is special.
And whether you know it or not, you are adding new
words to it every single day.
If things are good, they will change. If things are bad,
they will change.
Because change is the nature of every story."

I loved this book so much. It has a way of just making you feel good. I sent a few quotes to my girlfriend because I thought they'd make her happy, and I was right.

The concept of Every Word You Cannot Say was original and I could relate to a lot of the poems since most of them dealt with love and forgiving yourself. The book itself was also pretty as well.

I really enjoyed this collection of poems about questioning what life is all about and the ways in which we express how we feel. The book does stick to a singular topic and not every poem is remarkable, but as a collection I think it works extremely well.

This was not my favorite by Iain S Thomas, there was a large amount of repetition throughout the book. I struggled with some of the poems here, they just seemed rushed.

Not really my kind of poetry. It's popcorn-y and devoid of subtlety and is full of direct affirmations of broad strokes ideas like the reader having value and being loved and stuff like that. It definitely has an audience that will benefit from it, it's just not what I look for when I'm reading poetry.

I will give props on the poem that was shaped like a hand. Very solid execution in shaping the poem like that while still maintaining a pretty high level of easy readability.

text would be in different colours to make a point (red for anger, heart for example). Some text form an image. not sure on how I feel about this collection. nice flow to next poems, the way it is set up makes the book longer.

“I know you hurt and that you love and that, sometimes, love is the reason you hurt.” - Iain S. Thomas

EVERY WORD YOU CANNOT SAY by Iain S. Thomas is a poetry collection that stays with the reader long after. I was twenty pages in when I couldn’t keep the tears at bay anymore. The poetry takes an in-depth look at themes people often don’t discuss. It’s words that we think but don’t say, like the title says. I was surprised at how much I could relate with the words. It felt like the author had a peek inside of my mind and composed a series of poems. The poems also made me feel less alone, like someone else understood me.

If I had read this collection when I was a teenager, it would have helped me lot. Especially since our earlier years are when we need someone to tell us everything will be okay, and that what we’re feeling is normal. I highly recommend this book to poetry lovers, people who feel alone and misunderstood, and anyone who have emotions they can’t put into words.

"You need to remember because life has a way of making you forget."

This poetry collection is beautifully written. You can easily connect to the poems because they are relatable. It makes you question life in general. It's heartbreaking and meaningful at the same time.

This book is about allowing yourself to be yourself. The way it is written is you'll feel someone is talking to you. I also liked the illustrations and color play.

A lovely little piece that occasionally pulls at the heartstrings. (Sorry for the delay in this review, my life sort of took a turn into HellTown)

"And we must be gardner's of all the things we find in our hearts"

This was different to other poetry books I've read and that's not a bad thing. It was more or less one long poem but you could easily see when the theme changed. As someone else described, it was almost like a therapy session and i needed to read it. I enjoyed this quiet alot!

I definitely enjoyed Every Word You Cannot Say, this style of poetry was slightly different than I’ve read before. It read like one long poem however each poem is also it’s own... if that makes sense? Finished in one night and couldn’t put it down. I’ve read other works by this author and looking forward to more! Thank you Netgalley & publisher for the e-copy!

This poetry collection was amazing from start to finish. I connected to most of the poems in the beginning, and they were so powerful that I was almost in tears. Like, actual tears. They were so emotional, and you could just feel the emotion rolling off of the page. As the collection continued, however, I just didn’t connect as much to the poems. I could still feel the power in the words, but there just wasn’t as much emotion in them. This poetry collection was phenomenal overall, and I will absolutely be picking up more from this author. I’d say that you should probably give this collection a go if you’re looking for some new poems to love.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an earc copy.

I gave this a two out five stars. I didn’t feel a lot from this poetry not many lines stood out to me. I need to feel things when I read poetry or to connect with it. Those things did not happen this poetry collection was just okay to me. But saying that there was a few lines that stood out to me and they are:

“In your head, in the dream, you are both the monster and the person the monster is chasing.”

“You cannot fix me because I am not broken.”

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book.

This book was a pleasant surprise. A beautiful book of Poetry filled with life lessons. In fact, I wrote some of hte poems in my journal because they made that much of an impact on me. I even shared some of these poems with my daughter who is in the thrones of teenage drama.

"There is only one real sin in the end, and that is not being who you are, not listening to your soul and forgetting who you wanted to be."

HOOO MY GOD.

I recognised the author through his previous writing that enticed me, but unfortunately, fell short to entertain me.

However,
Every Word You Cannot Say was excellent.

Unlike some contemporary poetry books that have several themes into one, EWYCS dabbled in only one: love. Love yourself, love others, love your significant others, unlove them, unlove toxic person, they all have the same thread.

I adore some writings and I am glad to get the digital ARC so that I can appreciate it now.

Iain Thomas once again manages to be the everyman's poet, delving into the emotions, hopes, fears, disappointments that we all share simply by being human.

This work seems to have a theme of finding yourself, accepting who you are, and not being afraid to open yourself to the world. Getting hurt is part of life, messing up is part of life, wanting to be alone at times is part of life; but so is being there when it's important, being brave even when you think you're not, trying again and again and again each day, and being open to all the joys and good the world holds.

I look forward to each new offering by this poet.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Andrew McMeel Publishers for allowing me to read an ARC of this book in exchange for an unbiased opinion.

I'm still trying to find my way through modern poetry and prose and this book does it for me. It feels like a sort of self help book or pep talk written in poetry form. The author has written as if he is talking directly to the reader. A number of times I stopped to read a passage over two or three times just to take it in and ponder over what it meant. I really enjoyed reading this even more than I thought I would and plan on picking up a physical copy for myself so I can read it again.
