Really enjoyed this book. It's part of a series but can easily be a standalone book. Colin and Gina's attempts to outsmart each other are fascinating and there are plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing as to how the plot will play out.

This is definitely my favorite mystery thriller for 2019!

No bloody killing or death. The characters especially the Victim and the Psycho are really smarting each other! Wow! I like it!

Gina Hamilton takes a new turn as a victim. She uses her advantage and her brains to get her own justice. I actually love how her mind works! There would be no more victims in the world of violence if they are like Gina.

Colin Bradshaw, you are one of a heck Pyscho that I hate and I love at the same time. I'm pissed on how he chose his victims but his timing and patience is unbelievable.

I haven't felt the main character which is DI Ed yet I'm glad that she solved the case though I know that she also has some issues with herself that she needs to resolve. Probably on the next book? :)

I can't wait to read more of G.D. Sander's work because you are an amazingly great author! Thank you very much Avon Books UK and Netgalley for the ARC!

The second in the DI Edina Ogborne series, but this could easily be read as a stand-alone. A woman is found dead in her apartment, with no initial signs of foul play, we the readers know that the man used her as a practice run which went wrong.
Georgina Hamilton is an ambitious dentist who becomes embroiled in a strange kind of life with Colin Bradshaw- without giving anything away, we watch their bizarre relationship develop into Gina’s ultimate revenge. This was a very unusual topic, but the twists and turns were excellent.

This was a different slant on being or becoming a victim and how to fight back to get justice. One young girl who was a loner dies after Colin stalks her and invades her flat and hides in her flat without her knowledge. When she is tied to the bed she dies from an undiagnosed heart problem.
Colin moves to Canterbury and researches other women whom he is convinced will love him once they get to know him, after he invades their home and ties them up. Georgina Hamilton does not react the way Colin Baxter expects when he chooses her for his next victim.
DI Ed Ogborne is in charge of the cases and is determined to find out what is the true story and make sure the guilty person is imprisoned. There is a good twist at the end.
An enjoyable psychological thriller.
With thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the ARC, which I have enjoyed reading.
Recommended.

Absolutely loved this book...full of many twists.
The main characters are Gina and Colin, both troubled souls but in very different ways. The story is told from 3 angles...that of gina, colin and the police. The story begins with the death of another character and the reader is left to wonder where this fits in with the rest of the story. However the link is evident towards the end.
The characters are complex and at times it is easy to feel sorry for them, at times frustrated and also quite cross.
I look forward to the next book by this author.

Bloody Brilliant!
The Victim by G. D. Sanders is the second book in the Ed Ogborne series and is a simply superb addition to the series. It's tense, dark and highly twisty! Its everything I look for in a good thriller.
When the body of a young woman is discovered in her own bedroom in Dover, the Canterbury team led by DI Ed Ogborne is called to investigate. In what initially appeared to be a death due to natural causes, slowly takes a darker turn when Ed and her team dig further. After hitting a dead end with the case in Dover Ed and her team soon have another case on their hands,- the rape and torture of respected dentist Gina Hamilton. Gina brutally attacked in public reports her rape at the police station. Soon the case in Dover and the Hamilton case converge and Ed realizes that someone close to the case is lying.
The plot of this book is fabulous, I can only imagine how much time it took to weave such a complex, twisted yet intriguing plot. The characters are good, as usual. We see more of Gina Hamilton than Ed in this one, but I'm not complaining. I like how shrewd and complex the character of Gina is. She's the real MVP of this book. The teammates Mike, Nat, and Jenny appear in lesser scenes than what we saw of them in The Taken Girls. This book was fast-paced and I couldn't wait to get to the end! Makes for a very addictive read! I look forward to more of DI Ed and her team.
Thank You, NetGalley, Avon Books UK and G.D. Sanders for an arc!

This is my first book by G.D. Sanders having not read the previous book in the series, 'The Taken Girls'. But I didn't feel like I was missing anything by not reading the first book. This was quite good as a standalone. And overall I quite enjoyed the book. The characters were quite good especially DI Ed Ogborne and her team. But overall I just felt the book to drag on a bit and a bit too long. Yes, it was a quick read but still I believe it could have been shortened by a bit and that would have made the book better. But that's completely my opinion. Overall a good book and 3.5 stars rounded off to 4 stars. And a big thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for giving me this ARC in exchange of my honest review,

G.D. Sanders is a new author to me and after reading this, his latest book ‘The Victim’, he’ll be a one that I will definitely seek out in the future. Although I hadn’t read the first in the DI Edina (Ed) Ogborne series “The Taken Girls”, I didn’t feel I’d missed out on any previous information and thought it worked very well as a standalone.
This books starts off quite unnerving and creepy and I did actually feel rather tense during the first few chapters. This is certainly my type of book, with alternating chapters from the perpetrator’s view point and a chilling and nervy atmosphere. I did feel however, when the storyline changed between perpetrator and victim, that I have to admit to feeling a little uncomfortable with the way it turned, though it all came together in the end and was appropriate to the plot.
Although a police procedural that does focus on the police solving a manslaughter and a rape case, the majority of the story is based around the victim and the abuser and this allows the story to ratchet up in tension as it progresses.
Wholly enjoyable and exceedingly far fetched (which can be excused due to the darkly, twisted entertainment factor) I would recommend the aptly named “The Victim”, especially if you like your police procedurals just that little bit different and very dark and sinister.

4 stars.

This was a decent 3-4 star read. It was written a bit odd, in my honest opinion, so it didn’t grab me the way I love, but it did keep my interest and I was able to finish and enjoy it! I think it definitely offers some great chills, thrills, tension, and twists. Recommend to those who enjoy Crime thrillers.
Will be recommending to the members of Chapter Chatter Pub!

A young woman found dead in her bedroom with no clear signs of a break in or any evidence of foul play baffles the Canterbury police department . Then another brutal case come to the attention of Canterbury police department’s DI Edina Ogbornelight. Is there a connection between the cases and if so then how are they connected?

The Victim by G.D. Sanders is the second book in DI Edina Ogborne series and can be read as a stand alone. It is very difficult to say much about the story without giving away spoilers .Overall a fast-paced plot, with some despicable characters and with twists and turns that kept me guessing who exactly was the victim all along

I would like to thank Avon Books UK & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.

DI Edina Ogbourne #2

Someone is lying… and someone is dead.

When a young woman is found dead in her own bedroom, the Canterbury police are baffled. There’s no sign of a break in, and no evidence. It’s as though the killer has vanished overnight.

DI Edina Ogborne is determined to uncover the truth, and when a brutal new case comes to light, she’s convinced the two incidents are connected. But the new victim, Gina, has her own ideas of how to bring her attacker to justice.

As Ed investigates, she soon realises not everything is quite what it seems – and that someone close to the case is lying. But will she find out who before it’s too late?

My thoughts:

Rating: 4.5

Would I recommend it? yes

Will I read anything else by this author? yes

Twist and turns though out the story , so that it keeps you guessing and questioning everything and everyone that you meet in the story, its the type that makes you want to know what is going on and you don't don't want to stop reading it once you start , this is the only one of this series i've read but after reading this one I want to read the rest of the series . Its well writing ,and the more you read the more you start to wounder who is the victim , who is the bad guy and why is he doing this , and who is telling lies and who is telling the truth , and will the truth come out before its to late , with that said I don't think you need to read the first one in the series because it was easy to understand what was going on, but you can if you want to , with that said I want to thank Netgalley for letting me read and review it exchange for my honest opinion .

I didn’t read the first book in this series. However this book could be a standalone. It was pretty different than other crime thrillers I’ve read. Overall it was a good book. .

When your well-laid schemes go terribly awry...

This is quite different to the usual police procedural or crime thriller in that, even though it is the second book featuring DI Edina (Ed) Ogborne of Canterbury CID, the suspenseful story also focuses on two other main characters so there are 3 different points of view in the narrative.

DI Ed Ogborne is investigating a manslaughter case in Dover -- a woman found dead in her scrupulously clean apartment as well as an alleged rape in Buttermarket. Something is not quite ringing true with the rape victim's account, even though captured in detail on CCTV.

Colin Bradshaw has never had much luck with women. He has plenty of time and money. Now he has a plan to secure the woman of his dreams. What could go wrong?

Georgina (Gina) Hamilton has worked hard to become a dentist and is possibly about to become a partner in a thriving practice. Everything is going her way until the night she meets Colin. Now that she stands to lose everything, can she think of a way out of her situation?

NO SPOILERS. This was a fun, easy and fast-paced read that kept me racing through the pages to see what these characters would do next. I found myself surprised by the twists and turns in the plot and the surprises kept coming as the investigation intensifies and events play out. The characters are the type you can actually enjoy as especially two of them can be pretty despicable. I liked Ed and wish I had read the first book though this can be read as a standalone. I'm looking forward to another in this series and want to go back and read THE TAKEN GIRLS as well.

Thank you to NetGalley and Avon/HarperCollins for the e-book ARC to read and review.

Fantastic.follow on from The Taken Girls, in fact, I think this supercedes The Taken Girls in my eyes. I read this in one sitting, could not put it down! A great second instalment in DI Ed Ogbournes journey,m I hope for more to come!

A really good psychological thriller! I loved it!
I was into it from the start. I loved the way it's told, how the bad guy himself is explaining his plan to find a woman, what he wants to do with her...

Imagine getting back from work and finding a man in your flat. How did he get keys, well he made a copy at some point of course, what does he want with her? Oh well just spend time with you, get you to like me and want to get naked with me... And tie you to the bed while you're sleeping... then make you breakfast the next morning... and stay with you until you like me...

But there's more...
Scary! People are never what they seem, those things happen in real life! Trust no one!
I loved it! Well written, good pace, strong characters, I felt tense and scared like I was in the story! And also of course really loved the police procedure, details, ... everytime you think you know something, think again... Many twists and turns until the end.

Thank you to NetGalley, Avon Books and the author for the ARC of this book. This is my honest review. All opinions are my own.

This is the second book in the series, but I feel this one reads nicely as a standalone and didn't take any enjoyment away from the experience. The book is riveting, and thrilling from beginning to end. I really enjoyed it, and I can't wait to see if there is another one in the series!

Perfect psychological thriller! It moved at a fast pace with twists and turns throughout! I couldn’t put it down! Highly recommend!

This second book about Edina Ogborne does not disappoint. Now a Detective Inspector, Edina is working an intriguing murder case. With no evidence at the crime scene, Ed and her team are at a loss for how to discover the murderer. After another female survives a similar attack, the hunt begins for the perpetrator and for the truth. Ed is trying to uncover the truth of what happened amid a circle of lies. To resolve the mystery, Ed will have to determine who is telling the truth. It's a fun read and keeps us wanting another story about Edina.

Having read The Taken Girls by the same author, I was looking forward to the second book to feature DI Edina Ogborne but can be read as a stand alone. This book is set in Canterbury and has a few despicable characters as well as being fast paced! The plot centres round a young woman, found dead in her bedroom and little evidence to assist the police. Another case appears which is similar but are they linked? Difficult to say any more for fear of spoilers. This is shaping up to be a very good police procedural and I can see some good character development in book three. My thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.
