A good book, enjoyable, if a little predictable. It held my attention, but didn't stay with me. There wasn't a lot of tension or difficulty because almost everything was too easy to resolve.

After eleven years in the US Marine Corp, Declan O'Neil and his entire crew were dishonorably discharged, when he refused to carry out a mission, when it escalated into having to shoot innocent hostages, a move that would have landed them all in jail anyway by the armchair quarterbacks at home, since they were wearing body-cams. When the terrorist they were after, killed 27 people the next day, the marines were sacrificed by the politicians. Now facing the task of finding a job outside the military, he decides to take a trip to DC, where he witnesses an attempted kidnapping. When he single handedly stops the kidnappers, he is offered a position by the would be victim, wealthy Charlotte "Charlie" Halverson, to lead a group of non government defenders- Declan's Defenders, she calls them. He enlists all his former crew. His first case, coincidentally is to help the woman who was standing next to him, when he first noticed the kidnaping attempt, leaving his duffle bag with her. Grace Lawrence, not only was supposed to interview with Charlie that day for a assistant position, but her roommate has gone missing. Thanks to Charlie, the former men of Marine Force Recon, have found a home and work in the nation's capital, but Declan also finds the woman who completes him in Grace.

This book is a fast, well written, action packed page turner, with intriguing characters and a clever plot.
