This book was a pleasure to read. Longer than a novella but shorter than a full-length novel, it was perfect for finishing in one night. I fell in love with Lovage's big family and her sisters named for a variety of spices. Lovage struggles with self-confidence in the shadow of her younger sister, so it was nice to see her perspective shift as Marshall falls head over heels for her. His sunny personality is a perfect match for bringing Loveage out of her shell, and even though they have their struggles, they develop a strong relationship based on friendship as they get to know each other. A super sweet Amish romance!

I really enjoyed this book. I liked how Lovey and Marshall finally settled their differences. These books are always an easy get away. Clean and fast reads.

I highly recommend this book.

Thank you netgalley and harlequin for allowing me to read this title for an honest review.

When Lovey Stutzman’s accepts her sister’s dare to take a buggy ride with Marshall Byler, she didn’t realize that she was about to embark on a road to a happy future.

However, the studious Amish woman would rather attend to her family and their business. Besides, Lovey has a beautiful younger sister and cannot accept the fact that Marshall is truly interested in her.

This was a very touching story. Lovey is a beautiful, responsible woman who believes love is for everyone else. As drawn as she is to Marshall she can’t see experiencing love in her future.

Quite naturally this is a clean romance, but it is very effective. I felt very drawn to the characters. Both Lovey and Marshall were really special. I especially loved how Marshall proposed marriage every time they were together. Lovey’s sister Ginger could be a pain, but I did like her and really hope that one day she gets her own story.

There were other well-developed characters in this story. Lovey’s parents were just too sweet and I enjoyed their story as well. This warm story was a delightful read and has a wonderful conclusion.

Many thanks from Love Inspired and to NetGalley for this ARC to review in exchange for my honest opinion.

Who is Marshall Byler and where is he from? Who are Lovage, Ginger, Bay, Tarragon, and Rosemary? Who is Benjamin? I really like Marshall!!! When Marshall keeps going back to Benjamin's harness shop to check on his item that he dropped off for repairs, what happens? Why does Loveage ride with him after a weekday ballgame at the Bishop's house? Who is Jesse and why is he in the buggy as well? As the story progresses, many interesting things happen. You'll have to see what Ginger does that nearly ruins everything. Enjoy the story! I did!!!

Laugh out loud delightful are the first words that come to mind about this book.
A man who knows his mind, and a young Amish woman who has low self-esteem, and we get to see who wins!
The author has given us a strong woman who loves her family, and being her mother’s oldest has been given a lot of responsibilities through the years, including getting a home ready for sale in a different state.
The we have a young man given the responsibility of raising his younger brother and caring for his grandmother.
Has fate put them together, or has God put this on their hearts? We get a front seat and this quickly became a page turner for me, and a sense of loss once the last page was there.

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Harlequin, and was not required to give a positive review.

“The Amish Spinster’s Courtship” by Emma Miller tells the story of an Amish woman named Lovage and how she finds a spouse. I liked the idea that Lovage is not a cute young woman flirting with Amish young hunks. Lovage is a mature lady who is quite happy to be on her own, assisting in her family’s business and helping manage a large blended family. The novel details the progress of her newly-developing relationship with a mature Amish man. They are not without their trials and heartaches, but manage to work through them together and learn a lot about themselves and each other in the process.

I read a lot of novels about Amish people, and this was a standout. The characters are well-developed and multidimensional, portrayed honestly and like real people with problems and questions. The large Amish family to which Lovage belongs is interesting in their own right, and present an intriguing subplot to the story of Lovage. This book ranks right up there as one of my favorites. I am looking forward to reading more novels by Emma Miller.

Lovey Stutzman is the last of her family to move to Hickory Grove, she has always been the responsible, more serious sister. But she accepts her sister's dare to go on a buggy ride with Marshall Byler, to prove that she isn't all serious. She thinks that there isn't any danger since there's no way a guy like him would take notice of her as no ever has before, so she keeps brushing him off.

Marshall is smitten with Lovey, he's never had to work this hard to charm a girl before. Marshall cares for his grandmother and younger brother, who is a genius. His grandmother is quite the matchmaker, and already has another woman in mind for her grandson.

I really enjoyed this sweet Amish romance, Lovey is a very kind and straight spoken woman. She is sensitive to others' feelings and potential awkward situations, and is very unassuming throughout.

There are some really great humorous moments, and a strong sense of family. I love how close Lovey and Marshall are to their families, and the respect that they have for each other right from the start.

Overall, a really enjoyable read, with great interaction and great comedic timing. I really liked her family and his grandmother. Marshall is a strong and straightforward man, and very respectful. This is definitely one that you won't want to miss!

Marshal’s horse spooked and broek a part of the harness. Marshal took the part to his new friend- Will’s stepfathers harness shop-Millers Harness Shop. When he went in the shop no one seemed to be around he even rang the bell. Than he saw some lemonade with a sign to help yourself and Marshall realized how thirsty he really was.. When he toks a large mouth full all he tasted was sour lemons, and started choking on it. Than a young Amish woman came into the shop and said she hadn’t added sugar to the lemonade yet. There was something different yet familiar about her- as though he had known her all his life. His grandmother- who lived with him and his younger brother- Sam-had just been discussing his marriage prospects. She wasn’t a beauty in the usual sense, not tiny and softly rounded. But when the newcomer turned her green eyes on him he found himself almost stunned. She was as sharp as a straight razor and direct in her speech, more outspoken than most of the girls around here. He asked her name and she said it was Lovage but her first name was really Hannah Lovage she didn’t use Hannah. Lovey was the oldest of the five girls and one boy her parents had but her father -Ethan- passed away and her mother -Rosemary- ended up marrying his best friend Benjamim who had five boys of his own. Lovey was very close to her mom. Lovey’s mom was also pregnant. Marshall asked Lovey to ride home with him after the softball game Saturday night. Her sister Ginger said if Lovey did ride with him she would take Lovey’s turn at washing the dishes for a week. Lovey thought it was too bad she didn’t inherit her moms sunny disposition and lovely features instead of taking after her father. Marshall had Lovey stumble over her words and confuse her thinking. Marshall admitted he wanted to see Lovey again that was why he had come to check on his harness before he knew it would be done. Marshall asked again about giving Lovey a ride after the game and Lovey said she might. Marshall had went from being his younger brother Sam’s brother to parent when his father passed away, his grandmother also lived with them. Sam was twelve years old. His grandmother wanted how to marry his neighbor Faith as did her mother. Sam wasn’t much of a talker but he was a hard worker and very smart and invented a lot of things to help around the farm. After the game Marshall appeared at Lovey’s side and asked her if she’d like something to drink. Lovey found she liked Marshall, he was fun to be around, always laughing and joking, but he was also a kind man. He gave out compliments freely and and seemed endlessly supportive. He was also the most handsome man on the field. There was something about him that made Lovey a little light headed when she was able to steal a look at him and he wasn’t looking. Lovey rode home with Marshall but had her younger brother Jesse go with them. Marshall accepted that with no problem. After he was walking Lovey to the door he asked her to marry him. Lovey said absolutely not as he didn’t even know her. Eventually Lovey did agree to be Marshall’s girl as she was having her feelings for him grow.
I loved this book. I loved the pace and plot. I didn’t want to put this down. I loved Marshall was so sure right away Lovey was the one for him right from their first meeting. I loved Marshall and Lovey together. I loved how close Lovey was to her mom and the rest of her family. A very well written Amish read. I also loved how Marshall stepped up and became a parent to his younger brother Sam. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend it.

I really liked this book. Lovey and Marshall were the perfect couple. From a jealous sister and an I know best grandma these two made it to the other side. There is so much joy reading an Amish romance

A sweet story about a young Amish woman, Lovey with very low self esteem and her want-a-be suiter, Marshall. This story is funny at times because Marshall is so persistent and Lovey does not take him serious. Lovey has a hard time believing that the most handsome man is attracted to her. It's unusual for courtship to be so open in most Amish communities so this story was different in that aspect. This is the first in a new series and community. Looking forward to the next story. I couldn’t help but smile while reading this book. This is an adorable Amish romance. You can’t help but cheer Marshall on as he makes attempt after attempt to court Lovey and win her heart. I loved this Amish community and hope Emma Miller will be writing more books with these characters.

This is a simple, clean, and sweet story that is perfect when you want something lighter and entertaining to read.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Emma Miller is an author of many types of Amish books, mainly straight on romances. I may not have read them all, but the ones that I have read have never received less than a 4-star rating from me and this book is no exception.

I giggled while reading this book and I cried too -and I can say that it takes an exceptional book to bring out that much emotion in me.

There is very little sermonizing in this book but it is a very clean romance (naturally) so if you are hesitant to read this because of its religious overtones -don't be. I am the least religious person you will have ever met and I love these books. Ms. Miller does a fine balancing act mixing a bit of religion with the everyday.

The main plot is one that you expect -confident boy meets a shy and slightly awkward girl, the boy immediately takes a liking to the girl, there is a huge misunderstanding that eventually gets straightened out and we have our HEA! There is a slight secondary plot concerning Loveys mother and a pregnancy and that was interesting. I only wish the author had given a tad more story over to that.

This book is well worth the time that is taken to read.

Eh... this book was just okay.

The author was incredibly detailed in some areas but then lacked in others. Scenes were switched with no warning except for a blank line between paragraphs. Key events were glossed over (dinner with family members, the birthday party, singings, etc) while we know the exact detail of every dress Lovey wore throughout the book. There was also no closure with Lovey's mother.

Lovey and Marshals book is a adorable read that really questions faith and family relationships. I loved the banter and how Marshal looked thru his family and more into his faith to show how Lovey was the one for him. A great Sunday read!

Lovage Stutzman has always felt out of place. In a family where her sisters are all cute, petite blondes, she is tall, gangly and dark-haired. To further destroy her self-confidence, her first serious beau admits to her that he only proposed to her because his first choice turned him down, and he figured she had so few choices that she'd accept him. Is it any wonder that she has trouble believing that handsome Marshall Byler would be so smitten by her that he would propose the first time he meets her?

Walking into his new neighbor's harness shop, Marshall Byler expects to get his harness repaired. He doesn't expect to find the perfect woman behind the counter. He's 30 and past ready to marry, but the women he's met so far have all been too young and silly. When he meets Lovey, he immediately sees in her exactly the woman who could be his helpmeet. Now all he has to do is convince her - and his grandmother - that she's just right for him.

With humor and depth, Emma Miller tells the story of the courtship that Marshall and Lovey engage in. Marshall is so fun! His frequent proposals are a hoot, but his depth of character is what finally draws Lovey in. While true love doesn't always run smooth for this pair, readers will still enjoy reading about their path to happily ever after.

I LOVED this book and couldn't read it fast enough!

This was a nice enjoyable book to read. Both of the main characters Lovey and Marshall, are likeable and connect with the reader. I do believe the title to be a bit misleading unless you read the book description. Lovey is not a spinster. She is a young Amish woman who moved with her mother's family when her mom remarried. She is shy. Marshall is outgoing and flirty. He meets Lovey and knows she is perfect for him. Thus they begin to get to know one another in a sweet yet sometimes funny courtship.

This book has everything you want from an Amish romance. A woman who believes she is no marriage prize. A man who sees beyond the surface, and is certain she is the only one for him. A misunderstanding between them that is enough to test their bond, but not too dire or dramatic. Faith and forgiveness, but without preachiness. And an acknowledgement that for all of that community’s traditional values and consummate state of patriarchy, there is still room for unconventionality in its denizens – particularly, in its women. – Sarah Xavier-Jones
